Because the vary nature of a problem-of-the-week soft science fiction series lends itself to comfiness. Btw, TNG is comfier, far comfier
Great costume and set design.
IT'S BEEN A LONG ROAD
Oh yeah, those janitor-like jumpsuits and that gray, colorless ship. Fucking beautiful
Total lack of edge.
Everyone is just so bland.
I don't care for the overall design of the NX-01 but I love the interiors, she has one of my favorite bridges.
This. Only likable characters on that show were the doctor, trip, and shran.
>Everyone is just so bland.
True, although I really like Trip as well as T'Pol's body
She was so blatantly there for eyecandy but I'd be lying if it didn't work
It looks sort of like the inside of a submarine or an aircraft carrier. Which is fitting considering it's further back in time.
they were good they just wern't very star trek
Idk they couldn't have made more homage to the original series in some of the designs being a prequel
such missed opportunity..
Rewatching it recently, I have problems with stuff.
The Andorian incident, right? Everyone's favorite blue guy Shran is introduced as a hostage taking, prisoner torturing terrorist and his buddy actually threatens to rape Archer's second in command.
At the end of the episode, Archer just gives the guy who spent a few hours beating him like a drum everything he asked for just like that. WTF? While I know Shran turned out to be about the best thing about the show, Archer's complete bitch move made me kind of mad.
There's doing the right thing and then there's being a complete pussy.
she didnt age too well
:/
i liked them, it was a mix between NASA and TOS,
if it went on I imagine they wouldv'e morphed them to be closer to TOS, like pic related. although maybe thats not the best example
They tried to make humanity come off as inexperienced, but the writers were hacks so humanity just comes off as stupid.
>Let's take the dog on first contact and other diplomatic missions!
If humanity from the year 2001 can tell you that this is a bad idea, then there's no excuse for humanity from the year 2151 being "inexperienced" enough to think it's a good idea.
true,
can't believe a night in sickbay was the highest viewed episode.
its really stupid when you consider they were tying to emulate modern space programs, which are planned out in detail.
The decom room was so much pandering nonsense. The only thing it was missing was slow jazz.
TNG is too comfy. In many episodes there's barely any sense of threat.
Eyecandy has been a Trek tradition since the beginning.
As side characters, sure.
As main characters, that started with Troi, and even she looked more professional than 7 and T'Pol. Those two were just embarrassing to look at.
>As main characters, that started with Troi
That always bothered me. Troi being eye candy. She just wasn't attractive and from introduction on in the first season she came across and an overly needy ex.
She was less eye candy and more the kind of chick you'd go out of your way to avoid at the office party.
In a world with Stargate SG-1, Farscape, Firefly etc, why on Earth would anyone feel the need to make an 'Enterprise was comfy' thread?
Troi was the backup eye candy after Denise Crosby quit.
I think her jumpsuits were meant to be 90s sexy.
Denise Crosby dressed in a uniform and didn't show off her cleavage every episode.
She did wear a skant for precisely one scene
>dem tree trunks
Troi should have worn that uniform more often instead of her stupid onesies
Uniform interfered with her sex-based telepathic powers
That was a terrible uniform. She looked like a space cheerleader. Her real uniform used in seasons 6 and 7 was her best outfit, though.
But the uniform is far sexier
Then Marina Sirtis should have been the security chief, Denise Crosby should have been the counselor, and then we'd get 6 years of counselor-free Star Trek after Denise quits.
Be forever grateful that at least they got rid of the dolphins
And the additional breasts.
Did people dislike Enterprise because it was too "realistic" (if that word even applies here) for Star Trek?
>Characters are relatable
>Uniforms are sensible rather than weird generic futuristic jumpsuits
>Huge cultural differences between aliens and humans
>Translation difficulties, actual emphasis on the fact that there's a language barrier
>Humans are seen as just as "alien" to other species as they are to us. Establishing aspects unique to humans (like speaking during dinner) was really interesting
No, not at all.
People dislike ENT because the characters are made out of cardboard, Archer is a moron, and the plots are silly at best and ridiculously against canon at worst.
>>Characters are relatable
Yeah, there's the "I'm British" guy, the "I'm anxious" girl, and the "I'm wallpaper" guy. Such deep characters, so relatable.
I kinda liked Marina Sirtis because she was quasi-sexy. Like nobody ever had a wet dream about her as a kid but sometimes you made a comment about her butt.
Imagining Denise Crosby as Troi, I think she's going to be too sexy. Like she gets into some fucked up telepathy moment and does all those pornstar moans, you cannot literally watch that at age 13 with your parents.
Then in a skintight bodysuit as her insane curves and protruding nipples go everywhere, along with that perfectly chiseled jawline and piercing eyes, you'd literally need to masturbate every 10 minutes but this was in 1990, nobody did that or had the lube for it.
It's best that Sirtis had the role.
The only thing that made this show palatable to watch was Shran and the Andorians.
mayweather was the worst, after you have the family drama with the Boomers there's not much else to him.
at least they tried to involve him in the terra firma storyline.
they were trying to develop the characters as it went on, Trip and T'pol becoming my favourites.
I liked how in S4 they started doing some world building and setting up the lore.
>mayweather was the worst
Malcolm was so much worse.
>muh disappointed dad
>muh social anxiety
>nobody ever lets me blow anything up
>stiff upper lip cup of tea old bean
its better than
>ive been in space before
Daily reminder that Enterprise was the very best Star Trek series ever produced.
It was Star Trek done right.
No faggots.
No feminism
No PC
Less technobabble
More realism
More character
Interesting aliens
Solid storytelling
Trektards hate it because it isn't gay enough.
>Come here, MACO! Let's resolve our disagreements with our fists!
Here's a typical episode
>An alien ship approaches the Enterprise
>ARCHER: T'Pol is there any record of this species in your database?
>T'POL: [smoldering in bored rage] No.
>ARCHER: Great! Open a channel
>ALIENS: Garflargleby?
>ARCHER: Hoshi, what did he say?
>HOSHI: Ugh, captain, I can't do it. Send me home. I can't do it
>ARCHER: Nonsense. I'll just have to make contact in person while you figure out the language in the next hour.
>REED: Captain, I don't think that's wise. Our phase cannons are still useless out here.
>ARCHER: I'll be OK so long as Porthos comes with me. Travis move us closer to dock
>TRAVIS: Aye aye Captain! :D :D
>T'POL: [seething with barely contained anger] Captain, I do not think it is appropriate to bring your canine... companion on this mission. You could offend the aliens
>ARCHER: Porthos? Offend? How could anyone this cute offend anyone?
LATER
>ARCHER: Archer to Enterprise, the talks suddenly broke down for some inexplicable reason. Mr. Reed meet me at the docking port with a security team
>REED: Tally ho, gents! Remember there's no honour like dying for your queen and country!
>T'POL: Captain, they've fired on us... For some reason
>TRIP: Cap'n, our hull plating is buckling like a Louisiana levy in a hurricane. We can't take much more of this, boy howdy.
>ARCHER: I'm aboard with Porthos. Mr Travis take us out of here
>TRAVIS: Aye aye Captain! :D :D
LATER
>HOSHI: Uh... I caaan't do it... Oh wait, yes I can. This food that CHEF cooked for me reminded me of the time I learned Klingon in an afternoon.
>ARCHER: So what were they saying Hoshi?
>HOSHI: It appears that they hate God
>ARCHER: God?
>TRIP: Well that just don't sound wholesome to me.
>HOSHI: Whoops, I mean DOG, they hate DOG
>[All expect for T'POL laughs]
>ARCHER: I guess it really is true that anything can happen out there.
>T'POL: [suppressing desire to murder the crew] Yes. Who could have predicted their reaction.
Malcolm was a great character.
You're just mad because they didn't make him gay.
What's with all the reposts?
>SubCommander T'Pol has a nice bum
What did he mean by this?
Him being proto-Section 31 was the final nail in his retarded cofin
Too unrealistic, Travis has too many lines. Cut down his part and you'll have a more authentic episode.
the back to basics was is strength but that wasn't enough. what we got in S3/4 was great, just too little too late.
even as a defender of Reid the section 31 thing was a rehash of a DS9 subplot, which was told well enough there.
It also didnt help his character.
can't trust the bloody Britbongs
Lame and gay.
I genuinely like the first season. It was just about the joy and terror of exploration. Granted there were things that still sucked about it, mainly the cast but I stilled liked it.
Haha too true
>it's an "oh yeah, I forgot he was on the show, what's his name again?" episode
I forget, has he been in space before?
I think he grew up on a freighter.
huh, really. he never mentioned it?
I think I heard that he likes pineapple.
Oh what? That was the other bland guy? My mistake...
>that entire episode
Hate
Haaaaaaate
Not really. The theme song was horrible. The characters was kinda uninteresting and it had too many filler episodes
>FAITH OF THE HEEEAAAAAAAAAARRRT!!
S3/4 theme song was great, fuck your terrible opinion
is there a term for hearing a bad song so many times you start to like it? Because you have that.
The name changes as it evolves, I believe it's currently called Sia Syndrome
>The theme song was horrible.

Perfect Strangers fits surprisingly well
that archers theme
seriously it might be a small thing but the intro is someones first impression and faith of the heart is just off-putting
This era is over.
This is the era for simpleton Star Trek light.

May god have mercy...

Archer's theme actually sounds like a Star Trek intro song.
Only mirror is ok. The rest sounds like american "rock"
That's why it's losing.
I don't know why it quoted the poll link. GOOOOOOKMOOOOOT!
>She looked like a space cheerleader.
but that's exactly what she was
Fuck off, Silent Enemy was one of Enterprise's best episodes.
One of the few times they actually seemed to be out in the unknown.
youre thinking of her mom.
im guessing she never moved her hands.
>hating on the only competent tactical officer in all Trek Canon
Malcolm wasn't competent, he was just a dick
they didn't call it Reid Alert
do you think Worf grew reading his exploits and maybe even sang a klingon song to his honour?
>Captain, I recommend that we raise shields.
>No.
It's the captain that's incompetent, not the tactical officer.
Enterprise was the only Trek series that was good from the very beginning.
Seasons 1-3 were the best. Season 4 was when the quality started to fade. Most all of the stinkers are in season 4.Enterprise was the only Trek series that was good from the very beginning.

>Enterprise was the only Trek series that was good from the very beginning.
S1, especially the first half was boring as hell
What's with all the reposts?
S1 was bland
The stories were predictable and slow.
S2 was actually a lot better, It had the same approach but was just better done.
ok so what do you guys think of the Klingon story in S4?
I appreciate the cleaning up of canon but it felt like an appendix at times, just existing to tie things together. I also tend not to like it when universe connect things to other things. in this case the klingons to the Augments.
It's fine in this story but I tend to think they might have gone too far in this direction if it continued.
The theme song is fine. It's only ever been the butthurt trektards who hate it so much.
>ok so what do you guys think of the Klingon story in S4?
The Khan stuff was shit. I like clever retcons that tie up loose ends, don't get me wrong, I just hate it when the bow is too neat.
...
>but it felt like an appendix at times, just existing to tie things together
ENT's last episode showed it was all a holodeck simulation for Riker and Troi
The entire show was an appendix
Archer is best Captain.
Grabs borg and pulls out its borg tubes... commences killing it with his bare hands.
Archer is a real man... not a flaky faggot, a token gibsmedat, or self-entitled feminot like the rest of them.
>Archer is best Captain
Any Captain who let themselves get promoted behind a desk is shit-tier
>The theme song is fine. It's only ever been the butthurt trektards
I've loved every trek except that Voyager joke and I thought the theme song was the second worst part of Enterprise.
...
i liked the augment story.
it was convenient how it tied in with Noonian Singh, the klingons and even got a mention of botany bay and the Briar patch.
its like they had a bet
I get what you mean it's nice when canon is cleared up for fans but by connecting so many things it runs the risk of making the universe seem smaller.
savage
>Archer is a real man... not a flaky faggot...a token gibsmedat... self-entitled feminot
I used to like Archer before I read this abortion of a post.
Name any other who manhandled a borg with his bare hands.
Q was scared of the Borg, clearly Archer was either a clinical retard or he got a Borg that was pre-assimilation of whatever made them so terrifying
The only reason trektards hate Archer is because trektards are faggots.
Archer is a strong, white, cis male, and faggots hate that shit.
Archer fought the advanced borg from First Contact. Hardly weak. Hardly "pre-assimilation".
this should have been explanation enough, desu
Then he ust have been a clinical retard
>dog gets sick for a couple of days
>he becomes sexually frustrated
>q scared
>autist race blown out by 8472 in the very same series.
>Archer is a strong, white, cis male, and faggots
Archer was a pussy. Seriously. He went through the whole show eating shit. He was mad at dad (Vulcan) for not allowing him to go to space in the first season and spent a whole season breaking like a bitch under the strain of the Xindi. The only time he did half so well was because some dude from the future was holding his hand.
His only friends worked for him or at one point or the other beat him like a bitch. Everyone took turns treating Earth like a bitch and Archer was to blame.
Picard fucked more chicks than Jon did and he looked like everyone's grandpa while he was doing it.
But I guess he killed one obviously defective borg once, so he has that going for him.
non-sequitur
correlation does not imply causation
Yes we can go Warp 7
No we won't tell you how
Enjoy space you hairless-apes
to defend him somewhat his personality was suited to the xindi arc, being out of his depth and breaking. It's was like voyager except better done.
saying that the first scene we see of Archer is him bitching at Malcolm for just pointing out that one of their sources is a shady character.
>Picard fucked more chicks than Jon did
Gay trektard trying to play it straight, and failing miserably confirmed.
That guy was the best asshole. Archer was mad as fuck and couldn't do a fucking thing about it.
He was a real prick. But he's Vulcan after all... he did have some redeeming qualities tho.

Hi I'm Jeffrey Combs
I'll be playing every character in your show from now on
Has he ever been the bad part of anything? Hell, he was awesome in the 4400 even.
he was going to be a regular for S5
...
all Hail Empress Sato
...
>mfw I actually got to meet him
Hoshiness.
