The second evil dead was essentially a remake of the first evil dead with humor elements mixed in. Which is the same vein as the show and army of darkness. So I would start there.

I can't believe how shitty IFC is now. They abandoned the "independent" in favor of le quirky. 5 to 10 years ago IFC used to play some play some really cool movies that you normally see on television. Now they just air spoof movies and horror sequels.
