Ghost in the Shell

Is Ghost in the Shell deep for real and worth a watch or just a reason for weeaboo techie nerds to wank off to cyborg girls under disguise of digging the deep "philosophies" in this anime?

No meme answer, objective answers only (emotions must be devoid from your answer, only objective evaluation of this anime piece).

It's pretty good

Masamune Shirow started out as an ero artist so you be the judge

I don't listen to hip hop.

Both.

Tits are shoehorned in after like 30 seconds. The worst part of the movie is the pseudo philosophical ramblings that bring the movie to a complete hault though

>shoehorned
The nudity is not presented in an arousing or titillating way

So it really makes you think?

I'm just evaluating the worthiness of time potentially being spent watching this.

This, or Man in the High Castle.

You post on Cred Forums. Dont pretend like your time is valuable. Just watch the fucking movie and turn it off if you dont like it.

It doesn't really matter for anime. They find ways to gets tits in no matter what.

I don't think the GitS movie really makes you think actually, no.

They don't explain an awful lot about that universe in the movie. Like what a ghost even is. I think some episodes of the TV show are much better philosophically.

Its a cool film, worth a watch, but it's about as deep as the matrix sequels.

I went in with big expectations and found it to be kind of hollow. Not bad just not what I was led to believe.

The manga and stand alone complex are, the movies are hamstrung by their formats meaning they can't really go deep

Film has a really great atmosphere and action sequences are pretty cool. I hated the philosophy bullshit though and I find it overrated.

She knew backup was coming. Why the FUCK did she attempt to rip open the tank?

The dude shows up with a fucking rocket launcher literally 10 seconds later. Retarded as fuck.

...

Yes it's worth a watch
Yes there are tits

This movie gets a lot of shit because anime as a whole is full of weird porn and a weirder fanbase.
The nudity in GitS actually serves a real purpose for the theme of the film, but even if it didn't - even Tarkovsky picked actresses because they're hot. No big deal.

Watch it. The scuba scenes, the way she gives 0 fucks bout her physical being, the gorgeous, distancing artwork - you won't regret it

She don't know how much time left before the others came

She wanted to make she was first to reach the bot

kek at your english

but yes he's right, and id add that one of the principal themes of the movie and one of the reasons they showcase her naked is to show her disinterestedness in her physical body

>her real body is a 400 lbs hacker

>or just a reason for weeaboo techie nerds to wank off to cyborg girls under disguise of digging the deep "philosophies" in this anime?
Where do you people come up with these paranoid delusions?

>It doesn't really matter for anime. They find ways to gets tits in no matter what.
Projection.

>anime as a whole is full of weird porn
You mean shit that goes straight to video and has no relevance whatsoever?

I watched it yesterday and I just didn't get it.

people seem to over look the politics in it, but it's done even better than the ghost philosophy stuff. the philosphy stuff asks questions but provides no real answers, the politics drives the story.

Tits are inherently a bad thing now? It's not like it was used in a sexual manner. Stop being so sensitive. GITS is an atmospheric, thought-provoking and well-crafted cinematic treat.

It's really good user. Stop fucking around and making threads and watch it. Some faggots in this thread are talking about tits, because that's all they can think off after jerking off several times a day.
GiTS is good cyberpunk, the movie, the sequel and the SAC series are great on their own and it's a shame we don't see more shit like it. Avoid ARISE at all costs, it was meant for fat weeabos faggots that eat their own precum thinking about lolis, it is so boring that most people don't even talk about it.

Its just hard to watch with Normie friends because tits inevitably show up and they give you looks like, so this is why you watch these cartoons?

>w-weeaboos!
You people are worse than Cred Forums.

Yet nobody has a problem with any kind of sexual content in Western live action.

Because its not cartoons.

First time I watched it I didn't get the hype.

> tries to rip hatch off
> rips off her arms instead
> o ok

Didn't really get it but I suspect a second watch would really help.

shut the fuck up and go back to Cred Forums there's nothing worse than fucktards jerking off all day to lolis posting shit everywhere thinking everyone is as fucked up as they are.
While you are at it, check Cred Forums and tell them to go fuck themselves too.

Neither is anime.

Why do people freak out about drawn tits when the only times they show up are in the opening credits when they show a prosthetic body being manufactured or when she uses the optic camo but is still covered by a flesh colored body stocking

I'm not from Cred Forums and never go there.

>there's nothing worse than fucktards jerking off all day to lolis posting shit everywhere thinking everyone is as fucked up as they are.
What the fuck are you talking about?

Whatd everyone's favorite SaC episode ?

The serial killer that paralyses people then hacks their ports and routes his eyes into theirs so they see through his eyes while he skins them alive is pretty fucking brutal

@74959369
as I told you, if you are not a stupid ass weeaboo, shut the fuck up. Nobobdy gives a shit.
Have a (You) or not.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Not that much of an anime fan but I've must've watched it over a decade ago, recently saw it again, very much worth it.
It looks beautiful and has interesting themes, it's definitly worth the praise and holds up to the test of time.

This. People berate anime for nudity regardless how it's utilized. Context is irrelevant when its comes to these criticisms. Sure much of it can be juvenile, though that's why you judge each work on its own merits. Yet, while Western television and film is full of sexuality and nudity, it typically gets a free pass.

it has good action. its philosophies are just hypothetical made up crap.

>its philosophies are just philosophies

>hypothetical made up crap

Well its not like there's people really running around injecting their consciousness into robot bodies to compare it too user

wut

I thought it was more of a sexy action anime than a "philosophical" anime

>tank hatch is sealed tight
>exerts her body past normal human extremes in attempt to tear it off
>her arms give out before the tank does

what is there to understand user

people always act like it's deep and meaningful but it doesn't mean anything.

Just because there's tits in this scene doesnt mean that what they're saying is pointless

Are you telling me she was unaware while prying it open she was about to completely go beyond her limit and destroy her shell body and leave herself completely vulnerable?

Cool
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ghost_in_the_Machine

I'm telling you that she didnt know how strong the tank hatch was, and she maybe over-estimated the strength of her body

What?

Watched it at least 5 times. It has nothing to do with philosophy or politics. It just is incredibly gorgeous in every aspect.
The fact that you can talk about a movie on a lot of different aspects just means it's good. and gits is more than good

>The worst part of the movie is the pseudo philosophical ramblings that bring the movie to a complete hault
PLEB GET OUT

>has nothing to do with politics

You can argue that the philosophical stuff is just pretentious rambling, but I don't see how it isn't about the conflict between two divisions of the Japanese police

>anime is not a cartoon
Dude :D

They're two different things.

it's not "deep" or anything, but the anime makes for a decent crime drama

Where have we seen that before?

Much original :D

They are not you fucking man child

>its a tv argues about anime episode

Yes they are. Why are you calling me a manchild? Do you also call people manchildren for saying that Stockholm and Paris aren't the same city?

Why wouldn't she stop when she felt her arms start to TEAR OFF

I sometimes call people manchildren for saying that anime isn't the same thing as cartoons

it's an idea that goes all the way back to mythology. what are you complaining about?

The scene on the boat is pure shit m8. It adds literally nothing to the movie.

For what purpose?

cause she can just get a new body. She needed to shut that tank down, fuck her body she can replace that

I think it was more along the lines of she was emotionally desperate to get to the puppet master at that point. In the movie she's having an existential crisis that was wrapped all up with losing her personal identity because of her augmentations/shell. At that point I think that the idea of the possibility of being something "other" and possibly having an option to exit Section 9 was the reason why she let her body tear itself apart.

I think she was really ready to die if she couldn't be separated form her shell and it's ownership by Section 9.

Because they're wrong to do so

Why?

Because they are cartoons

>he thinks anima is not cartoon
loooool

How can they be cartoons when they have virtually nothing in common with cartoons?

They're two different things.

This might make sense if it wasn't just a random tank.

They are exactly the same as cartoons m8. People just delude themselves into thinking they're something more.

How can they be exactly the same when they have virtually nothing in common? Are you mentally impaired? Are you on drugs? What is wrong with you?

Can you fuck the cyborg girl??

They're the same bud. One and the same.

Once again: HOW can they be the same when they have virtually nothing in common? Explain yourself.

Here's my explanation friend: they are the same.

How are they the same?

It wasn't just a random tank, it was a tank with the Puppet Master inside, a sentient being born on the net free of a shell.

She knew that encounter might be the one and only chance to interface with the The Puppet Master before he was destroyed and that might be her last chance at understanding a way of possibly attaining a life outside Section 9. She also knew that assassination military squad in the helicopter had been rolled out to destroy the Puppet Master and was already on it's way.

There's usually a clear difference in tone and intention between them, but fuck it. I call them cartoons also. It's just another word for animation, so it all means the same damn thing.
But self-important fuckwits such as yourself like to use that as some kind of ammo to demean the medium of animation and it's fans to make yourselves look laughably "mature". Not that any of that matters since we're all just a bunch of losers typing our useless opinions away on a cruddy image board. It's not like we're the role models for maturity here.

They are both animated illustrations, and are thus formally identical matey

Man in The High Castle was surprisingly good.

Just give it a couple episodes to get going.

it's pretty good if you like sci-fi and blade runner type shit. just watch the fucking thing.

Cartoon is not a synonym for animation, it means a certain kind of animation (and also non-animation which is where the term is from in the first place).

A bicycle is a vehicle. A jet fighter is a vehicle. Therefore, bicycles and jet fighters are the same thing.

Precisely mate. They are the same as cartoons. No judgement in that fact. The judgement is present in my thinking people over the age of 18 watching cartoons are socially retarded manchildren.

No, but they are both vehicles mate. In the same way animes are cartoons.

Anime and cartoons are not the same thing.

They are both very, very different in the sme way that anime and cartoons are very, very different. You have no way of arguing they are the same thing.

this

watch Aeon Flux if you want philosophical ideas explored.

THIS IS HOW. STRAIGHT FROM THE DICTIONARY

They are both very different. But in terms of what they actually are, I.e. vehicles, they are the same.

Just like animes actually are animated illustrations, and thus are cartoons.

...

That definition is incorrect, and people don't even use that definition except when they pretend to agree with it so they can attack anime.

Oh, my bad. Been a while since I watched it.

The ending still fucks my shit up. 2deep/confusing4me

anime - slideshows with CGI

cartoons - hand drawn kino

>But in terms of what they actually are, I.e. vehicles, they are the same.
And also completely, radically different. You must be legitimately retarded if you can't grasp this.

>Just like animes actually are animated illustrations, and thus are cartoons.
Anime and cartoons are two different things and you cannot argue otherwise.

False.

>it is incorrect
I think Google is smarter than some random weeaboo fag on Cred Forums

>picking a fight with the dictionary

Good luck kiddo

The latter

GitS 2: Innocence > GitS

Fight me.

Formally, anime and cartoons are the same mate. You literally cannot argue with this unless you want to argue with the dictionary.

>le definition 2
Only reddit and fags use that, which one are you

The definition is wrong and I am not a weeaboo.

A dictionary is not the word of god. A dictionary would also tell you that feminism is a movement for gender equality.

They are not the same thing and you cannot argue otherwise.

>it's an anime references philosophies with dialog but has no metaphors symbolism or story plot because the autists wouldn't recognize it episode

>dictionaries aren't always right!
>hurr durr feminism

You're proving my point about thinking that people who watch anime are manchildren. You are literally arguing with the dictionary to avoid anime being called a cartoon. This is pretty pathetic desu

Not gonna fight, just gonna ask why.

Anime fags literally BTFOd.

>hurr durr feminism
Feminism is not a movement for gender equality, yet I have seen at least Merriam-Webster say it is. This demonstrates that dictionaries are not necessarily right. Just like they aren't right about that definition of cartoon.

>You're proving my point about thinking that people who watch anime are manchildren
"Manchildren" is an empty meme. It means nothing.

>You are literally arguing with the dictionary to avoid anime being called a cartoon.
You are literally under the impression that ANYTHING a dictionary says has to be true.

lol

Let me make one thing clear to you, little brother: just because you're too stupid to catch the references, metaphors, and symbolism that doesn't mean it's not there.

His response is literally wrong.

>thinking ad hominem is a legitimate discussion tactic
kek, try harder senpai

Also, yes, I use reddit...guess what, Anime is still cartoons

Anime and cartoons are not the same thing and you cannot argue otherwise.

>A dictionary is not the word of god. A dictionary would also tell you that feminism is a movement for gender equality.

Dictionary...or...Cred Forums Cred Forums fag...hmm, I wonder whose statement bears more weigh...hmmm...I wonder...dictionary....or Cred Forums fag...hmmm

Not unaware, maybe not caring?

She was desperate to get the tank hatch open and was convinced it'd give way before her arm did. The alternative was getting BTFO'd by the tank as she had no ammo left.

>no meme answer
Then why the fuck did you ask a meme question

what does this symbolize?

Dictionaries do not define reality.

I'll take the dictionary definition over a definition from a butthurt weeaboo. Animes are cartoons dude. You should address why that bugs you so much. I think you're an infant no matter what you call them.

How dumb you are.

I'm not butthurt or a weeaboo, and the dictionary definition is wrong.

Anime and cartoons are two different things and you cannot argue otherwise.

No they define words

How can you laugh at others poor English when you don't even capitalize or use punctuation properly?
You fucking idiot.

Feminism is not a movement for gender equality just because the dictionary says it is, and cartoons and anime are not the same thing just because the dictionary says they are.

The Wikipedia generation has no capacity for indepedent thinking, only "citations."

>I'm not a butthurt weeaboo
Sure, mate. I believe you.

Oh, and anime are cartoons

>google must be wrong
>fag on Cred Forums must be right

What are your credentials, fag?

Its like the tree of life or evolution or some shit being destryoed.

Hamfisted pretentious pseudo intellectual bullshit.

Im here for the cool guns, cyberpunk designs and fight scenes

your ass

Sorry pal, but that is how academia has functioned for about four hundred years

Anime and cartoons are two different things and you cannot argue otherwise.

If something is wrong then it is wrong regardless of who said it.

Then I guess academia has gotten it all wrong for about four hundred years.

You sound like a retard so I'm pretty sure most of the themes in it would fly way above your head. Don't waste your time buddy.

You might have lost that final shred of credibility here pal. Go and watch a cartoon and chill out.

>Hamfisted pretentious pseudo intellectual bullshit.
>Im here for the cool guns, cyberpunk designs and fight scenes
lol

>this rustles the autist

>Anime and cartoons are not the same thing and you cannot argue otherwise.

But I literally can, I'm doing it now, wow!

This has nothing to do with "credibility."

You literally aren't.

>Then I guess academia has gotten it all wrong for about four hundred years.

Kek, how old are you?

Such arrogance.

>watching deepshit with your friends
>watching deepshit with your NORMIE friends

If something is wrong then it is wrong, but I guess the Wikipedia generation only understands authority and citations. Actual thinking is not possible for you.

>You sound like a retard so I'm pretty sure most of the themes in it would fly way above your head. Don't waste your time buddy.

rlly makes us sink

Hey man, I'm not going to sit here and pretend I'm smart and I "get" deeper meaning, themes, metaphor, symbolism, subtext etc etc

I don't care for it. I'm a dummy. Look at thst sweet kick tho

Ehh, it has both. So ofcourse it's gonna attract people from both sides. The real issue is why the fuck are you watching the 2.0 version.

You probably hate Blade Runner though, right?

>Actual thinking is not possible for you.
Really makes you think

No its great. Great visuals.

Cool, did you know that both Holden and Deckard are replicants designed to hunt other replicants and that's why they look so similar? ;^)

Deckard isn't a replicant tho

Tell me about it, neither is Rachael. ;^)

Rachel is which is why its OK he was so rapey. She's a fucking robot

>She's a fucking robot
What difference does that make?

You mean the main guys fighting along with anonymous to reveal pharmaceutical corruption in s1

Or the main guys fighting against anonymous for refugee integration in s2

How can you expect people to relate to Japanese politics
