He's introduced as a menacing guy but he's having a hard time in dealing the whole thing when it all goes to shit. And that's interesting, he's a bad dude but at the same time he fucks up a lot.

And when he starts to get shit to hit Luke back, they roll out his flashback episode and he becomes the most interesting character in the show, a really sympathetic tragic villain.

Only for him to be killed off, in what's admitedly a great scene, but Black Hillary Clinton and Bland Buck aren't as interesting or tragic or sympathetic.

Fucking seriously, Diamondback's reason to fight Cage is SO FUCKING BORING FUCK.

Lady Dynamite is the best thing Netflix ever made

They were shifting between asshole power hungry kingpin and crazy gang leader. It's like they couldn't decide between comic book villain and troubled guy trying to keep his composure while handling problems. I honestly would've tried to convey it as a coping mechanism with all his baggage and everything.

My line of thinking is they killed off Cottonmouth because it was too close to Daredevil's story, but DB was pretty much Joker-Punisher with daddy issues

I just finished watching it. Hated killing Cottonmouth off, he was great. Overall liked the show but after he got shot with the judas bullets it got really boring -- hated Diamondback, REALLY hated the detective subplot of her being a meanie booboo head to night nurse and being reamed about it for an entire episode. Actually the detective was the weakest part of the entire show to me.
Still like I said, pretty fun overall if a weak third act, in my opinion.

Blaxploitation is one of my favorite genres, if only for the music alone.

That's been my biggest gripe about all of the marvel netflix so far. I've liked all of them but they pad out the time with such boring subplots. I'm not sure of the reason since it's all released in one go anyhow.

Once Cottonmouth died, this show started a whole new season. Diamondback sucked. He was a collection of villain cliches, from Black Minister's Bible-Quoting Son to Kill Everyone In The Room Guy. He was just the Black Joker. Every character on the show had an opportunity to blow him away, but "I's scared, Massa."
Shades gave me blue balls. I was waiting for him to be a major villain, but he was just another henchman. I hope he's Somebody in Season 2, and we find he's been pulling strings the whole time.
Speaking of which, I hate that every white person on the show was a piece of shit. Most of the minorities were too, but as soon as you see Whitey, he's a bad guy.
Also, everyone on the show was behind Mariah's plan for turning Harlem into a segregated black ghetto. That was her whole plan. Kinda fucked up.
Finally, having Daredevil, Frank Castle, or Jessica, or anyone from the MCU show up would have been a great cameo.

I think they charted everything out very well up to Cottonmouth dying, but once he does, you realize it's all just a set up for Mariah's character.

Luke gets off of every charge, even beating up the cops on the dashcam, with a mediocre alibi, some witness accounts, and beating Diamondback's ass.

But he still goes to prison after being framed, and we don't even know how he was framed because it's not even important.

The second half of the show was just a little too weak.

Diamondback was dumb and rushed as fuck, but I did enjoy how fucking corny he was. Spouting dumb on liners and bible quotes, and that shit at the last episode with Bobby gave me a good laugh. The actor also did a good job with the dumb, exaggerated faces he makes.

It was about 6/10. Diamondback was comically bad. The writing was weak. They could pull out of the dive in season 2 but they need writing that's 2x as good.

Cottonmouth is interesting yes but you knew he won't last very long. He's just too small time, never gonna be a match against Luke. Diamondback was disappointing though. Everyone was all scared shitless of him and I thought he's someone similar to Kingpin. When he was finally revealed, what a letdown.

All of the characters make predictable decisions. There is nothing that makes the story engaging for more than an episode or two. The writing is shit.

The Marvel Netflix shows are just so much better then the movies but how is it possible that every one of them goes to shit after episode 7/9, you could even argue that Luke Cage takes a nosedive after 3 with the occasional good episode after that

Biggest complaint is no threeway scene between Misty, Luke and Clair. I didn't really care about anything else, I only watched because it gave me jungle fever with all the black qts.

Netflix shows always take a while to build up since most people watch it over the course of a week or more and most people tend to avoid spoilers and discussions/criticism until they've actually finished the show. Basically, people are too busy watching the show to hype it online.

I remember people asking the exact same question when Daredevil came around and a few weeks later the threads were massive.

What I don't really get is the file subplot in the ending. You get a scene where Mariah is mocking Luke about it and he's then arrested by the cops, and there's a talk about how now he's going to work hard to prove he's innocent and a melodramatic music plays out. Yet in the actual ending the old man find the folder almost immediatly after, and I assume Shades wasn't lying when he said that what was inside was proof enough to clean Luke's name, so I don't know why they even bothered.

Worst acting and fight choreography I've seen since I rewatched the original Star Trek.

Though, for some reason Episode 1 and 2 were almost flawless. It's like the producers hijacked the show at that point and turned it into a retarded BLM pandering attempt.

The soundtrack is fucking terrible, outside of the few good "live" shows we see performed in the club. It's all over the fucking place, like the entire soundtrack is one long improvised jazz session by people who havnt slept for 48 hours, and with an added dampening filter on top to stop it from drowning out dialogue.

It has fixed the problems with Daredevil though it started creating problems of its own.

So many bad actors with cheesy lines in this one.
