>trying to steal from the better, superior discussion thread

user pls

Seems very promising, will the next episode be about the guy from the trailer showing him before he goes in and the girl tells him,"if you can't tell does it matter?"

Ed harris is sentient robot trying to figure out his "world", which explains the scalping of the card dealer robot and his abuse of Delores; as being the oldest robot, she may be the best candidate for also achieving sentience and his regular abuse of her, is something like the process of resurrecting a ghola thru extreme stress, as in the “Dune” novels.

(If this is the case, there’s going to be a huge Twitter meltdown by the SJWs…)

For those already shitting on the show, they haven't introduced the Richard Benjamin and James Brolin characters yet.

>Richard Benjamin

>Ed harris is sentient robot

Then why didn't Handsome Man's gun work on him?

>James Brolin

Amazing pilot, definitely interested.

yes.
and i hope he remains as a main character

I thought the ending was extremely well done.

>Then why didn't Handsome Man's gun work on him?

Sentient robot Ed Harris has subverted the programming of the sci-fi bullets, which burst into dust if shot at a human but remain a solid projectile if shot at a robot.

Didn't the security guy say Dolores was special? Wouldn't they have seen what happened and been confused?

YOU WILL CALL HEEERRR

>"I payed good money"
>"Hello Delores, I don't have time for you today"
>"There's a deeper game afoot"
He is not a robot

Then how has he evaded capture?

I don't think he is a robot my dude.

She killed a living thing omg

lmaoed hard

gb2r

Already is one

>>"I payed good money"

He's escaped Westworld and has fooled everybody into thinking he's human but continues to return to try and figure out what he is.

>>"Hello Delores, I don't have time for you today"

He's "known" her from the start and she's his best chance for initiating sentience in another robot.

>>"There's a deeper game afoot"

The deeper game being robot sentience.

>She killed a living thing omg
Yeah, during a reverie, which is a time when the robots remember "past lives". She's done some killing before, I reckon. Probably during that "incident" way back when.

Saw the preview for the rest. Damn, that sucks. They are going for the robot uprising.

>Didn't the security guy say Dolores was special?

Only in that she's the oldest continually functioning robot.

>Wouldn't they have seen what happened and been confused?

About what?

Ok, let's hypothetically accept your bullshit as to why he could be not human. What reason do you have to think he's a robot? He might be a man who wants robots to be sentient.

>They are going for the robot uprising.
Where the fuck did you THINK they were going? Did you think they set up robots as enslaved sentient beings trapped in hell as a subplot or what?

IMAGINE being Anthony Hopkins creating Dolores all like damn you fine back in the day

>Saw the preview for the rest.

Yeah, I'd suggest not watching the preview, as they're giving too much away.

What else do you go for as a main story arc? They might execute it differently, smaller parts could be interesting.

>They are going for the robot uprising.

Well yeah, that's the entire story of the source material.

I thought maybe one or two robots were going to gain sentience and try to find what happened thirty years ago, tieing into a wider conspiracy...

Apparently the bullets are "simunition" as per someone at HBO. Androids react to them if they are real.

The film has been done already.

> What reason do you have to think he's a robot?

The dissecting of the card dealer robot; he's trying to figure out robots function and the abuse of Delores, is a way of forcing her into sentience.

> He might be a man who wants robots to be sentient.

Then he'd just let Westworld Inc. keep doing what they're doing.

>that hair on ERW

why

>spending countless hours and days sculpting that perfect ass

>when you sleep, you see the ass

>when you dream it's dreams about the ass

About him being treated as a visitor when he's an android.

Power struggle among humans, Ed Harris' plan, and cut out throughout that, SoL with robots. Not everything has to be a nonstop escalation of violence to be entertaining.

STOP YOU'RE MAKING ME ANGRY I CAN'T PAY TO BE A COWBOY AND DO ANYTHING I WANT WITH NO CONSEQUENCES

Probably since she is one of the oldest "hosts".

Haven't watched any previews, but my guess if it's going to be good old robot uprising. There'll be some humans helping them.

So is it a virtual reality world or a theme park?

>About him being treated as a visitor when he's an android.

There are all kinda robots down in cold storage in the sub-basements that nobody gives a shit about, management doesn't even know he's gone and living in the human world.

Lets hope not because it will be Walking Dead soon enough,

So that guy in the whorehouse had a firecracker in his face just in case?

Theme. It's a physical place.

Yeah because it makes more sense that they are real bullets that don't work on humans because of magic.

>that nobody gives a shit about,

Except that as soon as the old timer robot was awake they knew and sent the security team

In the post episode deal they said Ed is a Guest of the park

So then why are there "host" robots that can potentially "ruin everything" if they take out too many to work on?

Ask Nolan:

“It’s not the guns,” Nolan said. “It’s the bullets. We thought a lot about this. In the original film, the guns won’t operate guest on guest, but we felt like the guests would want to have a more visceral experience here. So when they’re shot it has sort of the impact. They’re called simunitions. The U.S. military trains with rounds like the ones we’re talking about. But there’s a bit of an impact, a bit of a sting. So it’s not entirely consequence-free for the guests.”

It ruins the story for the guests. That was managements issue.

The guy's face getting shot to pieces was completely unnecessary. I was hoping HBO wouldn't go down the LOL GORE route with this.

>Yeah because it makes more sense that they are real bullets that don't work on humans because of magic.

Wild Bill Hickok robot didn't get all the later upgrades, that allowed Ed Harris to subvert his programming.

Ah, that suggests that the ammunition explodes on contact with androids but fizzles on humans.

editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/11-rules-of-westworld-hbos-killer-robot-theme-park-series/

reading this will answer many questions.

Sorry, that should have been a reply to;

I was recomending this to a friend, he asked what the controversey was. I said an android got raped, I didn't say which one. Is that an unforegivable spoiler?

Friendly reminder that Lisa Joy is Jonathan Nolan's wife. So this is actually being written by two Nolans.

Please hold your BRAVOs.

In which build of Westworld do you think the horses were given working sexual organs? Was it an early addition or would it have been added after a few guests made some failed attempts?

>spoiler

It's the first episode lol who cares

>implying she was raped

The rape scene reminded me of this:

youtube.com/watch?v=6ZD0JRoKSq4

Little pricey to go

>an android got raped

can robots be raped?

Which also suggests Harris is human.

Oh, yeah. Dunno where people got the idea he was a robot.

They want to be the guy that figures out who the secret robot is.

So it's basically White guilt: the show
>DUDE SLAVES LMAO

People just throw out guesses at every single thing so that when one is eventually right they feel intelligent.

>Which also suggests Harris is human.

Or that he's a robot who has hacked the bullet's programming.

They're going to have to have guns that actually kill humans at some point and this is an easy way of explaining it.

Cred Forums westworld discussion drinking game

>every time somebody asks a retarded question that was clearly answered by the first episode, take a drink

>this is an easy way of explaining it

Not really. A much more feasible scenario for the guns getting hacked is someone in the control room being a robot.

Either the woman from Borgen or Hopkins. Black science man is too obvious.

Yet as per “There’s a much deeper purpose for him being there by this point,” Harris said. “He thinks there’s some deeper level to what’s happening in this park. He thinks perhaps Tony’s character is in charge of something that is not really obvious on the surface, and he’s probing. He thinks the more chaos he causes, the more destruction he can create with these AI folks, it’s not random. He is not just going around killing everybody he sees. There is always some narrative going along that he’s following that somebody gets in his way, and he has to blow them away.”

keep trying.

Keep in mind this includes ~50-100 years worth of inflation, and prices double every ~7 years.

damn that was hot

Will there "Robot lives matter" protesters outside the park?

Started it right now, credits. Hope I'll enjoy it.

shes programmed to enjoy life
Her life consists of being brutally raped daily
Doesnt she rape?

>Clearly yes as with most women

So where is westworld based anyways? And how far is the lab from it?

Mars

He's the agent of another company or government.

>They are going for the robot uprising.
NO
FUCKING
SHIT

Dat english do

Didn't take eastwood for the minute man type.

Should I watch the film?

If this is a sequel instead of a reimagining/reboot I want to know the full story.

To my knowledge it's a remake but you should watch the movie anyway, it's good.

>He's the agent of another company or government.

Then he's the worst corporate spy ever, if he hasn't figured they're robots in 30 years.

This is the most logical answer.

Can we all agree that the real secret android is pic related

Wasn't he looking at a picture of his son? How do you factor that into your theory?

This show fucking sucks. Nothing original. No interesting characters. Nolan sucks, JJ Abrams sucks. Pointless and vapid, with the gall to pretend to be more.

>Can we all agree that the real secret android is pic related

Too obvious but that's probably where they'll go.

Well yeah he "Hail Hydra'd" Dolore's dad and made him start crying

Red Herring.

Do they need to clean the semen out of the female robots at the end of every night?

He obviously knows they're robots, he's fucking with their shared programming, testing specifics in their design or tracking down a facility secret.

>i watch shows for the characters
back to Lost, faggot

>Wasn't he looking at a picture of his son?
implanted memory

Please get out of my thread and stop wasting Cred Forums's precious bandwidth, you autismos.

I'm hoping that Ben Foster joins in next season

Why would he be the red herring? I think the writers want viewers to think it's the management woman who is a robot (considering she dodged the question about when she'd get rotated back home).

Lost fucking sucked harder than this show. If I want to be disappointed I'll watch anything with Abrams' involvement.
If a show doesn't have at least one good character it will suck.

He's too sympathetic to the other robots, it's either management woman or the sleazy programmer.

He's just too obvious. The picture of his son (while denying he had kids) etc are put there to make us think he's artificial.

It wouldn't surprise me if the only "human" character who was actually really expressive and loud turned out to be the robot.

She's so fucking perfect lads.

I'm in love.

here's a scene that westworld desperately fucking requires

youtube.com/watch?v=sb0O0Vt39jE

She's been raped so much her cunt has to be replaced fortnightly

It might get better does not mean the first episode was basically bland dog shit. Have fun shilling and memeing over yet another overblown pile of pseudo-intellectual garbage for a few months.

That isn't even Bill, you moron.

except actually i'm a fucking retard and I now see this wouldn't work because of the way westworld bots are designed

ignore me

Yeah, or something similar to the blood test scene in "The Thing" where each character has to show they're human.

Merely cutting themselves won't do it though because the hosts bleed.

I would still love her.

This is probably the best movie ever made. Its perfection is stunning.

Just imagine, someone has to be the one to clean her out after a guest has their way with her.

...

I wonder if they will address in the show that a lot of people would say making guest invulnerable ruins takes away a lot of the thrill the violence would otherwise have.

Duh, but robots programming robots could get hairy.

>Hopkins is a sentient robot trying to figure out how to make the other hosts sentient

>pseudo-intellectual

memeing fuck

How organic-ish are they? Is there any straight up circutry oThanks for choosing BOI. Your International Bank Account f mettalic parts?

Nice try you fucking host.

Are you a sentient robot? Are you a qt girl sentient robot?

Sorry accidently pasted a message in the middle.

Hey did you know they used the song Paint It Black by The Rolling Stones in the shootout scene? Smartest hour of television ever made!

I read books when I want smart

Is there a stream I can't find one and don't want to dig through google

That was, like, so smart and new!

Real talk no bullshit dadbot's performance in this scene was some of the best acting I've seen in a long time.

...

And when you want stupid shit to talk about you watch HBO?

>corporate is all robots
>hopkins is the member of management who is secretly a robot
>ed harris is a robot who corporate allowed to enter the park as a guest, giving him guest immunity to host robots
>all of these entities are secretly working towards giving the other robots in the park sentience under the guise of running an amusement park
>rest of management has no idea
>anthony hopkins from above and ed harris in the field have already reprogrammed dolores to be sentient, and fully-aware

The only good thing out of that worthless hour

You mean Sapient you dumb fuck, sentience means you have all five senses.

>roastie

do you think there are roasties in westworld?
i'd ask for a refund

That background Black Hole Sun cover is GOAT.

>all five senses

Fuck off it was shit. I'm guessing you're 14?

Motherfucker can you count?

that was just to draw attention to my post asshat

what's wrong with roast breef?

Hey did you know they used the song Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden in the bar scene? Best pilot ever made!

Nope, but I'm a pianist.

What are the significance of these two characters?

r u 12? or too dumb to detect sarcasm.

They're the main characters in the movie. They're significant in the show because they're going to give us a view of Westworld from the point of view of the guests. We still haven't seen how that works yet.

It is strongly implied that Ed raped Dolores, but what if, after he closed the barn door, instead he opened her up and tampered with her machinery? Did something to change her code, or make her go haywire? Similar to what he did to the Indian, at the end.

>he doesn't have esp

So make sure to keep watching Westworld on HBO Sunday nights at nine!

>women want to be raped
This is the biggest crock of shit ever. I already have two court cases pending due to shit like this. It doesn't work. Fap to porn instead my dudes, it's the safe route.

Ed Harris isn't a robot. He's clearly an agent trying to figure out with the westworld company is doing beyond the 'entertainment' scope, as already discussed between the writer and security woman

Would they not have monitored that?

It's going to be so fucking glorious when Dolores falls in love with the man in black for forcefully awakening her and setting her free. Tumblrites are going to shit the goddamn bed.

No no no SHE is the android who misses her waifu

>it's a we have to include as much nudity as possible so people watch our show episode

There really wasnt that much at all, and the nudity involved made sense with the setting. Fucking Americans

Why do you hate this show so much?

Obviously Ed Harris isn't a regular guest.

>He obviously knows they're robots, he's fucking with their shared programming, testing specifics in their design or tracking down a facility secret.

That's lame and predictable and we're supposed to believe he's still doing basic shit like scalping robots afters _30 years_ on the job?

There really wasn't that much, that I noticed anyway.

They might not have cameras in the barn. Maybe that's why he closed the door. He could have investigated how she works in a way that makes it look like he's simply sadistic. I think it's plausible.

Still need to see what happens with the Indian robot. I was surprised at the end, when they were cleaning up the town, and they said every bot was accounted for. Pretty sure I'm remembering that right. So they forgot about him? I don't get it.

The only man in black she's falling in love with is the scarred handsome beaner.

I am convinced that the only way a drama will be picked up by HBO is if you include nudity in the pitch.

They only took 10% . It's possible he wasn't in this specific intake

Pilot was great.

Some of my personal theories:
- Introducing reveries was intentional. Ford is intentionally trying to make them more human.
- There are definitely hosts in Delos Management which makes Ford's authority less transparent and lets him get away with more stuff.
- Ed Harris is most likely SEC or a PI hired by Management (under Ford's nose) to investigate occurrences in Delos. Or maybe he's just a Guest that's overstayed his visit because he knows something is going on
- Ed is probably the "good guy all along" trope because he'll probably find out something about Delos that other people don't know (even mgmt).
- Not a personal theory, but on the website it said flies aren't hosts. Which is interesting af
- I really, really, truly hope that they don't mean Dolores the "Judas steer" who leads hosts to sentience/sapience because that's an overdone meme

Do you want a good show with consistent characterization and intriguing, progressing plot like Deadwood and Carnivale, or a Game of Thrones/Shaymalan WHAT A TWEEEST wankoff? Are you a low tier pleb? Lord knows what that scalping was, what he discovered, how he knew that stuff was there or what he did to that indian or Dolores, but instead of asking these questions, you want a stupid big TWEEST for your fat clogged amerifat mind.

why is batman there

Believe me I lament the death of HBO just as much as anyone else if not more. I'd love to have a great sci-fi old-tier HBO quality show to look forward to every week, but this hour was not promising at all. Dramatic television is pretty much completely in the shitter at this point, and its annoying and disheartening to see yet another reheated faux deep nonsense show get praised everywhere for no legitimate reason.

Why the fuck is their cold storage a Mall? Like it didn't make any sense at all

I think Dolores was the Judas steer, because she was the oldest host. They called her the most reliable, remember a Judas steer isn't a good thing, it's the cow that gets to survive while the other herd are lead to slaughter.

Annnnd we're already comparing it to two of the greatest shows of all time. Nuke this fucking board.

>pretending tv isn't currently in the pinnacle of its creation

TV was a joke not long ago. A joke movie stars laughed at

the more i think about the outside real world the more mad i get

it would be better if it didn't take place a super distant future

Go watch some meme ass Arthur or anime and get out of this thread, sperg.

I just hope it isn't obvious because that was the most blatant hint in the show.

I know it's stupid but I was half asleep and didn't get some things:
-There are some people / (robots?) like the blond girl who keep repeating certain routines, right?
-Those robots can die and the "users" can't.
-The people we see stacked in the warehouses are those robots? And the users / rich people are somewhere else? Or they just stack everybody there?

And I've yet to see you give reasons why it was bad other than your opinion of it trying to be too deep

It gave a good introduction to the world and how it works, and scattered questions throughout to keep people watching. Literally nothing wrong with that

Go back to your Art house threads pretentious faggot

If anything it could just be what she is to Teddy, since his role is to die because he follows her.

Though now I think, so far two hosts that interact with Dolores have glitched. So who knows?

Ahh, ok that makes sense.
Flies could be spreading a virus/disease from the outside world. Probably too obvious.
>two of the greatest shows of all time
HAHAHA fuck off

Goddamn that was a great scene. I give it a year tops before Cred Forums is talking about how much of an overused hack that actor is.

Everyone point at this pleb and fucking laugh

All the hosts have a set routine that they can deviate from if the guests fuck with their story line even a little

Yes those robots can die and then they get repaired and restarted at the end of each day

That was their cold storage which is where they keep their fucked up robots that stop going with the plan or are just older models

I hate the boss chick's accent.

What the fuck is that shit?

...

He is the ultimate "gamer" he has literally no lifed the game for 30 years and may or may not have discovered secret level/quest

Thak you very much. I guessed that was it but was a bit lost.

And then we have this Ed Harris character, who can't die, but we don't know much about him. I see

>the only decent get was deleted

It makes me wonder what effect they are doing to make the actors freeze up like robots. It's especially really great looking on that older model in cold storage. I was genuinely impressed

>There are some people / (robots?) like the blond girl who keep repeating certain routines, right?

Everyone in the town that isn't a guest is a host, synthetic humans/robots with pre programmed routines that can improv their routines slightly to interact with guests.

>-Those robots can die and the "users" can't.
Well all we know is a Host can't injure a guest, nothing says guests cant die. Hosts are regularly killed.

-The people we see stacked in the warehouses are those robots? And the users / rich people are somewhere else? Or they just stack everybody there?

The warehouse was cold storage was where all the outdated and/or malfunctioning Hosts are stored

>Do you want a good show with consistent characterization and intriguing, progressing plot

In which a corporate spy only figuring out to scalp a robot after 30 fucking years, is not.

Stop responding to the autist, and shut the fuck up, you're even more stupid than him. He's barely able to grasp stuff and you call him pretentious arthouse? Get out of this board and stop wasting Hiro's bandwidth you capeshitter.

Ed Harris is a guest who is almost 100% an agent from another company/government worker/robot lives matter activist who is there to fuck the world up

Ed Harris is just a gamer.

t. Buttblasted Arthouse fag who's trying to false flag now

...

He was a robot in the original movie.

You're too dumb for a cowboy HBO show, congratulations. He didn't just scalp him you idiot, read my post again, here, I'll even help you with an excerpt:
>"Lord knows what that scalping was, what he discovered, how he knew that stuff was there or what he did to that indian or Dolores"

Please, read it one more time:
>"Lord knows what that scalping was, what he discovered, how he knew that stuff was there or what he did to that indian or Dolores"

Who's to say Ed Harris has been a corporate spy for 30 years

>robot lives matter
>rapes the robots

> Why the fuck is their cold storage a Mall? Like it didn't make any sense at all

They have something like 2,000 robots active in Westworld at any one time (based on the comment that pulling 10% of the robots would be 200) but there are probably another 1,000 or so in storage, as they have to continually change storylines around and tourists don’t want to see the same robot ever visit.

Son looked like the black kid guest

For starters, did you even question why he had to bleed the robot out over hours? It was obviously some kind of operation or tampering where blood would get messy, but no, you see them making a point he had to bleed this robot out, but because they didn't flat out state three times over step by step like a Game of Thrones episode you stupid amerifat mind couldn't put two and two together, you don't have basic curiosity, you lash out at other people before considering your own stupidity. You're a pleb.

Right I get the whole idea of the cold storage but it's literally in a dilapidated mall

if only nolan casted hugh jackman as the bandit leader and hugh broke out singing paint it black

he would have be goat nolan

Back to 1973...

>All the hosts have a set routine that they can deviate from if the guests fuck with their story line even a little

Obviously the robots are FAR more capable then that.

We saw Friend Zone robot get shanghaied by those repeat tourist guys, instead of going to Delores.

The robot's set routine is only played thru if none of the human tourists interact with them, otherwise they adapt to whatever the human tourist wants to do, within parameters of the robot's character.

I have to give props to HBO, as cliche as the "man in black" trope is, they always manage to create excellent unique antagonists in their shows.

I hope his character turns out to be the hero if only for the feminazi tears.

>Get me William Hurt on the phone
>sorry sir we spent the last of the budget on the big swooshy hologram map
>then get me the next best thing

man they really lucked out there

Mr. Sizemore would be fired in that case, such a dumb idea.

Can i watch the westworld movie without spoiling the series?

Why would a human tourist/corporate spy ONLY NOW be draining the blood from and scalping robots, when he's been going there for 30 FUCKING YEARS?

Cleary, Ed Harris is a sentient robot trying to understand what he is and he's doing it by dissecting robots and this is related to his abuse of Delores, who he is trying to force into sentience like him.

Ed Harris is clearly a "leet gamer" archetype

I'm also interested in this

Why would a robot have a map on his head? Clearly the beaner wasn't just a regular robot and he just managed to track him down.

>Right I get the whole idea of the cold storage but it's literally in a dilapidated mall

They've been running Westworld for over 30 years.

Disneyland would like us to believe all their secret underground maintenance facilities are spotless and perfectly organized but like any industrial facility, stuff gets put off and/or ignored for cost cutting reasons.

It's almost completely different from the series, it's about guests and hosts go haywire and kill them. It's not spoiling any company conspiracies and it's a differnet plot.

Haven't seen the show yet but the first movie is just that the theme goes haywire and the bots want to murder. TV Show will definitely be very different.

And yes you should watch it, very fun movie.

So why did the programmer or whatever the fuck she is kiss the robowhore?

archive.is/zZveF

Right, but why is there a shopping mall underground?

Oh great, here we go. Faggoty general already started. Show isn't even a season old and you idiots are already an apologist shit tier fanbase.

Actually the whole idea about the Company's "agenda" with AI seems to come right out of Futureworld, the sequel

It was ridiculously over the top, from the dialogue, to the acting, to having Rolling Stones and Soundgarden covers on the soundtrack. They completely squandered the potential to play with the aesthetics of of the most iconic genres from America and did nothing to make the theme park feel like an actual legitimate place (you know, the whole point of the show). The corporate espionage stuff was taken directly from a big book of cliches, none of the characters are fleshed out in the slightest, the half baked mysteries are the driving force behind the show which is a terrible sign, do you want me to keep going because I can.

Not the posters you replied to, you have good points, the thing is that Ed Harris himself admitted the character is human. He said we will learn who he is on the outside and his motivations, his connection to the critical malfunction 30 years ago, etc.

Him being the first sentient AI is a cool idea, but being a deranged human with a vendetta against the corporation makes for better story IMO.

People are entirely capable of acting like that without special effects. Go to any tourist trap and look at the "human statues."
Although they probably sped up/slowed down the shot a tad to make it look jerkier

>Why would a robot have a map on his head?

It's not a map, it's a fucking circuit board, dumbass.

Ed Harris probably has a lab set-up somewhere in the desert where he's experimenting on shit.

Why the fuck would they put a map of Westworld under the robot's scalp?

If you legitimately think there is stuff worth grasping in this dumb show than you really need to look in the mirror before you call people stupid.

Oh I see, you're a moron. Carry on then.

This, Ed Harris is just the gamer guy that exploits the game to the fullest unlike the casuals who play it like Sims.
The reason it took him 30 years to make progress is because he is paying his tickets with his YouTube videos, which all get demonetized cause we are talking about youtube 30 years into the future.

...

I dunno man but my orgasm was real.

Okay, I need to know this.

Who was the idiot who did NOT insist on naked in the contract for the actor playing Dolores? I mean god damn it.

Yes please keep going I'd love to hear your retarded opinions some more

>expecting fully fleshed out characters in one episode, let alone the pilot
>half of the characters are literally robots with a set personality

her tits are literally the first thing you see

Christian Bale Snr. and Josh Brolin Snr.

>implying the jews won't have eliminated the white race with their pro-cucklodry agenda by then, user.

oh wait, that's bullshit

When Hopkins was drinking with the old Wild Bill Hickock bot down in storage was that thing a robot or an actor.

I can't outright tell and it's bugging me. Those face movements..

Something like that, but yes.

I don't understand why people think he's part of some grand conspiracy.
Before things go to shit, the way we see Westworld is all exploitation.

Ed Harris is just using it to exploit his "game hacking OCD" needs.

These are 100% correct

You can barely see them

Real actor's ordinary performance with SFX layered over it. There was an interview about it somewhere.

I get the feeling it was meant to.

RLM?

...nah!

The last critical malfunction 30 years ago led to the deaths of Ed Harris' family, who were guests. He got a huge settlement as well as free access to Westworld for life, and since this was 30 years ago he's just a forgotten part of the scenery at this point. We have yet to learn why he waited 30 years to exact his revenge on the game.

There, mystery spoiled.

The most common fantasy women have, is being raped. They just don't want to be raped by you. You'll find this in nearly all romance novels.

Yeah you're right an hour is totally not enough time to flesh out a character effectively, that's why no one ever attempts to do it because they know people will just rampantly speculate about theories to feel smart so why bother. And if we are supposed to empathize with the robots and they are going to be main characters going forward you definitely don't need to get people to identify with them early on because who gives a shit, it's on HBO and people will watch it anyway.

>the way his lips twitch and snap in to place

they use fx to make the robots seem more robotic, especially with the malfunctioning robots. half the flies are cgi, half are real. they would freeze the flies, then thaw them out. for 30 minutes the fly can't use its wings so its just crawling around the actor's face

They use they euphemisms "taken" or "ravished" but it is quite a common occurrence.

>He got a huge settlement as well as free access to Westworld for life

>your family got killed in this park, now you can live here forever if you want!
>ok :)

Yeah you're right they should spend one episode each fleshing out a specific character instead of fleshing them out over a season that's good TV xD

>Sorry about your family's brutal death Mr Harris please accept this free lifetime pass to the world of grim reminders as our apology.

I'm a sucker for a.i shit, especially good stuff

They aren't just jumping right into brand new intelligent a.I becoming self-aware overnight. Every single behavoir, motion and gesture to every line of dialogue was programmed into them. This, plus seeing the old anomatronic hosts, makes it much more reasonable to have the engineers see them as just soulless machines

What gets me is all the "I don't think I'm enabling" when she totally is by initiating the act to occur in the first place, i.e. looking for trouble, acting slutty (her words), and flirting on purpose, only then to turn around and say dindu nuffin line. Pretty sure there is a clear distinction with what she was doing and an actual rape. She is just too retarded to know the difference.

She's Danish. I looked it up because it was grating on me too. Sounds like she's trying to do a North American accent, but poorly.

Yeah and they should make every movie ten hours long because God knows you need at least four hours to accurately convey a characters identity backstory and motivations.

I'm not going to dismiss this theory, as we are so early into this show, but I hope this is not the case. I want the man in black to be a outsider who chases the rabbit

no shit? i figured she was just a robot.

They dont want to be raped. They want a hot, sexy, tall, rich dude fuck them hard.

>comparing movies to TV

Now I know you're retarded

Again, it's a crock of shit my dudes. Don't fall for the lie. Pic very much related

the actors did an excellent job, and the sfx they used, like with the old cowboy, were done in a seamless way.

she's danish

>he doesn't know the difference between rough sex and rape

We've got 5 season, uprising ain't happening any time soon
>not expecting this after that extras' release paper leaked

maybe they just program the ladies (and gents) to clean up their orifices during diagnostics or whatever. no need for hands on.

>spoiling the pilot
Wut

Why did Ed Harris scalp that guy? Why did he want his "chip" or whatever the fuck was on his scalp

>It's not TV it's HBO

I'll walk you through it the point is that there being future episodes does not somehow let the creators off the hook for there being no effective character building. It's a pilot with the budget of a movie and a comparable length, there's no excuse for such a terrible level of basic storytelling.

5 seasons? Is this confirmed?

What is controversial about a robot getting raped? Or are you american?

No one knows. This is what we in the business call "story progression". You will not find out about his intentions until later.

You are funny.

Oh thanks, I try.

And the weirdest thing is that there are faggots complaining about too much exposition in the show.
If this guy is asking why did Ed Harris scapled him... can you imagine how many question will people have about everything in the show without all the current "exposition"?

Hey you pretentious fuckwads

i wasn't expecting an answer. i'm trying to drum up conversation. get over yourselves.

no

fuck you!!!!

The only time we have seen them monitoring stuff is for scheduled events (e.g the shootout). I don't think they are watching everywhere in the park at all times, least they would have stopped that murdering cowboy before he had time to set up that little milk ritual circle.

Plus, I would think the guests would want their privacy... I also just remebered dadbot was staring at the photo for how many hours and no one noticed shit.

They are most definitely not watching everything

7/10 so far

will be 8/10 if they can keep it up otherwise probably a solid 6/10 by season finale.

can't have that on Cred Forums amigo

This

but why this isn't your first post?

Yeah, I forget the source tho. Just Google it. HBO is dumping all their GoT money into this thing

>thinking they are mutual exclusive

This isn't a porn dammit, IT'S ART.

I WANNA SEE THEM! LET ME SEE HER BOOBIES REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

her tits were literally in the first 5 seconds of the show

Didn't one of the workers say that they haven't had a critical error in over 30 years? Does that mean the movie happened already?

>Ed harris is sentient robot trying to figure out his "world"

youtube.com/watch?v=IuS5huqOND4

1:20 - Ed Harris pretty much confirms he’s a robot.

“What if I told you I’m here to set you free”

>Ed Harris pretty much confirms he’s a robot

or a human who wants to set the robots free for nefarious reasons. no one knows. nothing is confirmed.

>Didn't one of the workers say that they haven't had a critical error in over 30 years? Does that mean the movie happened already?

Probably not literally, as they've cast actors for the same roles as the movie.

>he doesn't know the difference between rough sex and rape
A quick google will give you the numbers on women that to fantasize about it you nerd.

>dude women can't think about disgusting things they're pure!

Why is he a mean robot?

Kindness is the first act of cruelty

THE SCENE IS TOO DARK REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>nothing is confirmed.
you're mum being a slut is confirmed lmao!

i hate kids

Does it now?

>Why is he a mean robot?

his abuse of Delores; as being the oldest robot, she may be the best candidate for also achieving sentience and his regular abuse of her, is something like the process of resurrecting a ghola thru extreme stress, as in the “Dune” novels.

This, he also was the main villian in the dmc reboot game.

Please let this be true

>ed harris will never play the gunslinger
It's not fair

Is this one of the most interesting premises in recent memory for Sci Fi?

It's an astoundingly old premise

Name 1

yea watching the pilot I felt like the premise was the weakest part of it.

Westworld

Name 2

Futureworld

he got you there buddy

Name 3

Beyond Westworld

No he FUCKING didn't, Name 4

Itchy and Scratchy Land

Ah yes, they really are fantasizing about sex without consent, instead of roleplaying. You're retarded.

New Thread:

what the FUCK are you FUCKING talking about, you FUCKING FUCK!

If he is studying then why does he know how much blood is already in him?

Your point about the card dealer could be support for him being either robot or human. He could be robot for the reasons you listed, but I think it makes more sense that he is looking for something. Maybe there is literally another level to Westworld, and the idea of that has consumed The Man In Black.

Also, the bit about Delores makes no sense. Why would abusing her bring Dolores any closer to sentience? Her dad finding the picture, losing his shit and causing her to consequently go off script is most likely the reason she had sentience.

But who knows? I'm sure the show will swiftly notify us of the shit that's going down.
