ITT: List Your Top Ten Films

List & Rate. List & Rate. List & Rate.

nope, the movies I like the most are the most memorable and comfy, and Cred Forums hates that. Also there's so many genres to choose from I could do a top ten for each genre. Another thing that Cred Forums hates, genres .

I understand

I would never share my true opinion with Cred Forums. This is not the time or place to discuss that. Instead, I will provide you with a hilarious meme list:

The Shawshank Redemption
The Godfather
The Dark Knight
Schindler's List
12 Angry Men
Pulp Fiction
The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King
The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

1. La Vita e Bella 9/10
2. American History X 7.5/10 but very comfy in a weird way
3. Yojimbo 9/10
4. Pan's Labyrinth 8.5/10
5. Room or Shutter Island 8.25/10
6. The Truman Show 8/10
7. A Fistful of Dollars 7.910
8. Throne of Blood 7.6/10
9. Memories of Murder 7.6/10
10. A Clockwork Orange or Diabolique 7.5/10

You shouldn't care about what some anonymous people on the internet think.

That was only the first reason, the second no focus on genre, the third was the lack of comprehension here.

Pan's Labyrinth is beast

1. The Chaser
2. Bittersweet Life
3. Lord of the Rings Trilogy
4. Thirst
5. Prisoners
6. Mother
7. The Hunt

The Neon Demon
Withnail & I
Inherent Vice

All great choices, especially because they have something groundbreaking or unique to offer, at least when they were released.

I remember watching Persona the first time and being blown away how good it was. There are also a lot of parallels to Lynch's Mulholland Drive. I wonder how much Persona inspired him.

Tokyo Drifter
Blue Velvet
Youth of the Beast
Gozu
Night of the hunter
A matter of life and death
Kuroneko
The third man

The taxi scene in it is maybe the pinnacle of buildup, tension and explosion. Stunning both technically and artistically.

>Eyes Wide Shut
dancing naked people in masks

Anybody here saw Dark City (1998)?

dark as fuck

Basically everything from Park Chan-Wook (Oldboy, Lady V, Sympathie for Mr. V, I'm a Cyborg blabla, Thirst, the list goes on) and Kim Jee-woon (I saw the devil, Tale of 2 sisters, bittersweet life etc.) , also Bong Joon-(known for Memories of Murder and Mother), and the few movies Na Hong-Jin made

You mean the imdb list?

No, there was a jpg file with about 40-50 gook films, sorted by genre.

I love that flick so much. The style, the kafakaesque atmosphere and twist worked perfectly for me. The director's cut is even better in my opnion. Fuck, I even enjoyed Kiefer Sutherland's overacting.

>I even enjoyed Kiefer Sutherland's overacting.

Of course. It's really solid. In it's best moments it feels almost surreal and dreamlike. Not on a level like Phantasm, though.

Fantastic choices.

Not to me lol

sorry, i loathe that movie.

1. The Chaser
2. Bittersweet Life , just because it's so damn comfy
3. Thirst

Rest of it in no order , only movie I didn't really enjoy was Pieta

>Fellini

Ah, I see you are a man of taste.

Haxan is probably my favourite movie, there's a certain quality, an atmosphere of mysticism to it I've never felt watching any other film

Pleb gtfo of here

fellatio?

Because it has too much cheesy and campy 80s vibes? To be fair Joel Schumacher is either epic win or total fail depending on every movie he made and dependign on yout taste.

We've already had the meme list, you got beaten to the punchline.

Nobody cares what you think.

>it has too much cheesy and campy 80s vibes
yeah, you didnt leave anything out there.
my friend was actually raving about it.
so, i watched it and i wanted to hit her face with the dvd after.

That is literally the IMDB top ten

thanks for taking the time to let me know

That's why I called it a meme list. That's why I posted it. That was the joke!

Now you know.

if you have to explain the joke, it's not funny.

5/19 good choices, but most of them didn't do anything for me

How's film school? Of the 4 of those that I've actually seen, they're pretty mediocre, phamily.

no, it just means you're stupid

sorry

>the chaser

funny.

you cant judge and the not post a list. thats not how this works.

>>catch me if you can
I was gonna call you a fucking pleb for this but instead I have to rewatch it now

youre welcome.

to be fair the list is a bit arbitrary, almost every movie in it could be replaced by another one that is at least as good.

im surprised you don't believe I love these films
Well, with Shadows of our forgotten ancestors, every single element in it I loved, the tale of love, how Parajanov uses color in the films context to play with emotions of our main character
The sentimentality and even some sort of spirituality it evoked on me it's mainly why I love it so much, haven't seen any film like it, also needless to say but the camerawork and play with colors is impeccable
And I like that it deals with childhood in that way too, very beautiful and complete.

Out 1 is simply beautiful, but I must ask, did you watch Spectre or Noli me Tangere, or both versions?

Out 1 would be really complex to put into words about everything I love, but to kinda summarize, constant playing with the viewer, unlike any other film
Mastered elements of other Rivette films, such as the crazy love
The way you can't really follow the film with its structure because of constant experimentation (muted or backwards dialogue, etc)
The mysticism surrounding it, and the great ode to art, in all its forms
It feels genuine, and it's just one of the best films I've seen, everything is so perfect
And mostly, Juliet Berto

idk man, could you please give me some reasons why you think Out 1 and Shadows are mediocre?

Those are my favorites, no shame about it m, I do like more mainstream movies, if that's what you have a problem with?

>half decent taste
What don't you like?

sexy boy

my tenth spot goes to emperors new groove

also, if you didn't like those, maybe try the other films in my list, hopefully you find something you like

and help me find a film school that shows Monteiro or Piavoli

can I have names?

id on second one?

haha what's up my man?
kinda bummed people say Out 1 is mediocre :/
also funny i made this chart for the other thread but it died

Lawrence of Arabia
Henry V (1989 version)
The Jolson Story
Police Story
The Searchers
The Producers
The Wicker Man
Das Boot
Barry Lyndon
The Thing

Not really in a particular order but it's the things at the moment I like the most. A lot of these could be swapped out depending on mood.

Every fucking time
Its best benning though

obviously not, he's just reasonably critical
anyone that rates a movie 10/10 can immediately have their opinion dismissed. Most movies don't make it past 4/10

ur my no.1 fan

well people have their own tastes but i do love some rivette

have you watched the beautiful troublemaker?

That doesn't make any fucking sense.

A logical rating system is based on a Gaussian curve with films that are average being rated 5/10.

Star wars 5
ant man
inception
iron man 3
avengers 1
avenger 2
el topo
star wars 7
batman 2
star wars 6

>Average movie is below the average score.
Thats now how metrics work.

sauce on the middle right, what movie?

Yeah, love that one a lot too
Love that chart, but didnt love blissfully yours or the Matsumoto film

>could you please give me some reasons why you think Out 1 and Shadows are mediocre?
Like most French cinema, it was just too melodramatic and overtly clever. It's been a long time since I've seen Shadows, but I remember it looking nice -- that's about it.

And I have no idea what version of Out 1 I saw. Don't really care either.

>if that's what you have a problem with
Not really, I just know your kind all too well.

5/10 is not the average score. 5/10 is a movie that's half as good as a movie can be.

Gettysburg
City of God
The Losers
Gandhi
Chaplin
Dan Boot
Stalingrad
Dune
The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Wrath of Khan

>1) The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
This.

Well then your metric is retarded and no one will ever be able to understand what you mean because you use a different system of measurement to the rest of the world.

1. Captain America: Civil War
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3. Captain America: The First Avenger
4. Avengers: Age Of Ultron
5. The Avengers
6. Ant-Man
7. Thor
8. Thor 2: Ragnarok
9. The Incredible Hulk
10. Iron Man

That's fucking retarded. There is no limit to "how good a movie can be" so how can you know when a movie is at the halfway point?

T2 is James Cameron's worst movie

Fight Club isn't even in Fincher's top 5

...

R8/h8/be a m8

In no order:

Magnolia
The Thing
In the Name of the Father
Leon
The King of Comedy
Grave of the Fireflies

Okie dokie

What's my kind you fucking plebeian redditor?

>okie dokie
>>>r/the_donald

kill yourself

>there's no limit to how good a movie can be
Yes there is. 10/10. 10/10 is perfection, perfection is unattainable but concrete.
>different system than the rest of the world
So do you, you won't find many places that give out an average of 5/10 across all movies they've reviewed.

You like the IDEA of liking certain films, but the fact is, they're mostly boring pieces of shit that are too heavy on style and easily forgettable.

Just watched about 10 minutes of Voci Nel Tempo, and if the others are as vapid and contrived as that, I won't be digging any deeper.

>perfection is unattainable

So you don't know what a perfect film would be, so how do you know when a film is halfway there?

Post your list, and please stop watching Vocies through time, go read a book
if you think Out 1 is heavy on style and is "easily forgettable" you haven't seen it, specially since you "can't remember" which cut you saw

Kill yourself
