Stop saying kino you fucking retard, it doesn't mean anything!

I didn't watch the show, but honestly what's the point of that scene? I'm guessing the dude getting shot is a robot/android/whatever and the guy shooting him is a human being. What's the point? Oh human beings are so awful and violent when they can be without consequence? It just seems so forced and the sort of "gritty mature" gimmick that HBO picked up.

Is he the most cucked actor ever

It was so they could set up a display of what happens to the bots after they get killed and the park is shut down. He was one of the bodies in the giant room getting washed when the prostitute was wandering around.

I was a bit surprised to see later that his entire body was discarded, seemingly at least. It seems terribly cost-ineffective to replace their physical exterior each time a guest kills them.

i hate that this has leaked because now i have to stay off Cred Forums until sunday to discuss the new kino. leakers ruin everything

It wasn't leaked, HBO just released it early so it wouldn't compete with the debate.

>Is it kino?
It's made in the USA, so no. Calling it kino would make no sense.

Kino is short for kinematograph, which is German.

Also this meme was never funny.

not in canada.

gayyyy

This show is ultimate kino.

I am already questioning who is a Host/robot with every character.

Love this shit.

is this postkino?

It's definitely comfy.

Evan Rachel Wood naked when?

It wasn't being discarded, it was being hosed down, probably in preparation for repair.

Did you guys think the music during Maeve's trip through the facility was too Inceptiony?

Kino certified.

some retard got drunk and decided the best way for him to relieve some stress was to kill a man.

I feel like Harris just loves being a cowboy.
And he loves playing this role.

If Westworld existed he'd actually live there.

I choose to believe this.

news flash, nobody cares about Canada

I didn't get the ending. What was the significance of that tower or statue with the cross?

Haven't even watched the first episode but planning to. Hopefully it meets expectations.

I honestly didn't even notice it

Like you wouldn't.
They've got anti-tank mode on their handguns.

It was a church, ford is introducing religion

Seems to me Ford either has some sort of messiah complex

Anyone else thought from the teasers that Ed Harris would be playing the Yul Brynner role? I'm pretty sure they wanted fans to think it's the same character

What kind of religion?

LeMat revolver. Patrician choice of 9 rounds + 1 shotgun when needed.

GAWJUS

Christianity probably

problems with this show:
> 95% of the guests are literal edgelords
> the hosts maintenance/creation/storage zones have absolutely no kind of security/safety measures whatsoever
>alot of the employees seem total amateur
>the boss/lead programmer always run around without escort
>no guards whatsoever
with the amount of money and technology that should be involved in that project it makes no sense the lack of organization and security they have.

The young child ford was walking with was definitely him as a younger child right

>+ 1 shotgun

Oh so that's what that was.

I think so. What gave it away was the comment about bored people his grandfather told him.

Is it just me or was episode two leaps and bounds better than the episode one?
>multiple perspectives improved
>laying story line context
>music
>acting

I'm all in now; I was hesitant after the first episode, but the second one has hooked me.

>That Anthony Hopkins line at the end when introduced to the new "story line" that he rejects.
>"They come back for the subtleties"
Felt like he was talking to people who actually appreciate film and television.

>gun can shoot through walls
>he can't harm other guests with it though

?????

if everything runs well then there is no need for guards.

>I am already questioning who is a Host/robot with every character.
That's not what this is about like the shit battlestar show

You seem really dumb. Honestly, you come across as a very stupid person.

Anyone else get fucking chills when that deep horn plays during scenes with malfunctioning hosts?

With the dad in ep 1 and the prostitute in ep 2, it was fucking amazing. This show is quickly becoming one of my favorite all time television series.

Can't wait for it to go to shit like GOT.

My guess is it's the entrance to the maze.

>he can't harm other guests with it though

Maybe he can. Pretty sure the gun Dolores found at the end is fully functional.

>That Anthony Hopkins line at the end when introduced to the new "story line" that he rejects.
>"They come back for the subtleties"
>Felt like he was talking to people who actually appreciate film and television.
OUR GUY

there are other good shows on television. The Knick is about to come back which is amazing and The Leftovers will be back soon which is god tier.

>The Knick is about to come back which is amazing
>no soderbergh directing
I'll pass.

I like that HBO puts all they have into these hugely ambitious projects. Usually "premiere dramas" on television are character studies in pretty ordinary settings. But this is a whole new world with new rules.

Unfortunately, the ambition and scale make the show extremely easy to nitpick.

Yeah, the music is GOAT so far. Even ignoring the rearrangements of modern music, there's some good stuff. I really liked how they made the train horn part of the music at the beginning of the first episode.

>The Knick is about to come back
I wish

>My most... mechanical and dirty hand...
>*laughs*
>I shall have such revenges on you... Both.
>The things I will do...
>What they are yet I know not.
>But they will be the terrors of the earth.

Who else got chills here?

I mean, the knives must be real at least. The whole guns concept is confusing. If the bullets can shatter glass and put holes in the robots how could they not harm the hosts? Do the guns auto detect who they're being fired at and change velocity or something?

>you will never be a rich playboy fugging sexbots.

Why bother living. If I did go to the park though, I'd ask if I could bend the rules a bit and have a semi automatic handgun instead of a revolver.

Leftovers is God tier, so is black sails. And both of them are on their final seasons.. fuck

>There was some talk that Soderbergh, with his once-again busy schedule, would not necessarily be directing the third season of The Knick, but he has since said that it will likely be his last season as director for the series.

The show is so fucking bad

Only if you're a stuck up cunt. Go watch jersey shore and then you'll know what an actual bad show is.

In the movie they detect living targets but they don't fire when it happens so maybe it's a combination of detection and nerfing the rounds, that still wouldn't stop a guest from being seriously injured by broken glass though...

This show is fucking garbage. Watched the premiere with my buddies durring matthew

>cliche story
>HURR WE MADE IT BUT DID YUOU THINK IF WE SHOLFNT HAVE?
>woh no way its the same story every day!
>holy crap thats paint it black xD

its something a teenager would enjoy.

I really hope that guy comes back somehow.

>> 95% of the guests are literal edgelords
If a place like this existed, 95% of the guests would be edgelords

>Watched the premiere with my buddies durring matthew

I wish it had fucking killed you, like several different sets of steak knives got swept up by it and turned you into giblets.

liberal/woman detected

>Having buddies
>woman

This story don't add up

>telling someone what to do on an anonymous Malaysian cartoon image board

>something is bad because I watched it with my friends who were impressing each other by making fun of it
>implying you're not as mature as a teenager

Oh my God, they killed Teddy!

"

Did you lick and finger your buddies buttholes? Did you all pretend it wasn't gay?

but christianity was already in old west

??

Its a fake world though. Nothing exists unless they introduce it.

This isn't the old west

by introducing religion, you get the robutts to see Ford as god

These characters must be important I think
>Ed Harris quest leads him to something with snakes
>The lady in the shootout has a snake tattoo
>She also attacks technicians in the facility
>Escaton the bad guy never gets to read his speech the writer wrote up (possibly clues?)
>Horse with the treasure from the salloon escapes

>If you look up the name 'Escaton' on google you get
>eschaton
>(literally) the last; used in theology to refer to the world during the posthistoric era of God's overt (apocalyptic) reign, immediately preceding the end of the world.

Or a Might and Magic 8 RPG character
"At one time my ancient masters were caretakers of more worlds than there are apples in a bushel. Before the Kreegans — before the Silence — they were worlds of wonder. My masters were kings and queens of a golden civilization. _I was made_, not because I was needed, but because I could be made — a protector of that which needed no protection… a symbol of might to a mighty people. But now, and for a millennium, the Kreegan blight has eaten away the splendor of the worlds. And so have my masters fallen. They are now warlords and generals, and I am their greatest soldier." — Escaton the Destroyer

>Had a palace which was a maze with secrets rooms
>Final room in the palace being Escaton's Throne Room which is through the door on the opposite wall of this antechamber. The antechamber itself is guarded by a few Plane Guardians, Plane Protectors, and/or Plane Overlords.
>Door could be that secret elevator thats in the middle of no where that Hopkins uses

>other girl in coffin has a large snake tattoo on her body and face
>little girl told ed harris to go where the snake lays eggs

what is 'snake lays eggs' code for?

The glitch 30 years ago got Ed Harris' parents/family killed. He's out for revenge, calling it now

Were they criticizing Benioff and Weiss?

why is Ed Harris literally Réddit: The player?

That's too easy. I doubt he after the whole god complex, because as we've seen so far, he basically is god of WW. I hope its something (think) its something deeper, although he did mention occam's razor.

such compelling counter arguments

shows shit move on

He'll be in four more episodes according to IMDB.

criticizing D&D

The glass could just be made to be really easy to shatter
Or it might not be glass at all

I don't get how HBO has the self-awareness to put together scenes like this, but then they turn around and continue to churn out over-violent over-sexualized shit.

That's what he said.

Yes

haga, then why are you in this thread you vapid nix?

>"tragically doomed sidekick" with white skin
nux?

agree.. this whole show is 100% concept 0% substance. the show plods along tediously giving us no interesting story-lines to cling to. Also the writing is utter shit. that moment where the guy was inspecting the indian and goes "START FUCKING OVER" made me cringe so hard. hbo you cant just throw the word FUCK in every other sentence and call it good writing. you also cant throw endless tits at me and call it compelling. I felt bad for anthony hopkins that he went from academy award winning writing to this schlock...

>Pretty sure the gun Dolores found at the end is fully functional.

Nolan said is not about the guns, it's about the bullets.

but ~~maybe~~ he explained wrong, and it's actually about the combination of guns and bullets.... And that's why Ed Harris's gun is so overpowered, he hacked his gun. (and hacked Dolores's gun too)

>chills
I liked how impotent his rage was and how artificial it is

Saw in another thread the black programmer is supposed to be fucking Dolores?

If so, man, why do they always cuck James Marsden?

ford is god
he's been giving them memories and self conscience, now he's bringing them illumination

>cant find any streams or torrents for ep2

>Saw in another thread the black programmer is supposed to be fucking Dolores?

There is no evidence of that, are you actually watching the show, or trying to stir shit up for maymays?

he's a fucking whyte mail

>hating on the best character
WOT
THE
FOCK

How do they shrink the robots and the guests?

I asked because I saw it in another thread.

I'm waiting to watch in on HBO.

You saw a falsehood, and ran here to get confirmation for something you're going to wait to watch on Sunday?

Are you fucking RETARDED.

>If so, man, why do they always cuck James Marsden?
Because he represent what all healthy, morally driven white male look like. Now that our culture industry deemed that as unacceptable, they either make them a cuck or a villain.

Don't forget all the black people

>that moment where the guy was inspecting the indian and goes "START FUCKING OVER" made me cringe so hard
Did you ever pause to think that is what it was intended to do? The show is setting up that character as an obvious substanceless reactionary dolt. It's two episodes in, so WHY DONT YOU CHILL THE FUCK OUT AND WATCH THE REST OF THE SHOW YOU ATTENTION CRAVING BAGATELLE

THIS SHIT IS FUCKING KINO!!! WOOOO!!

This definitely feels like it belongs on regular television, not something premium like HBO. It's all these cliches in the writing. Makes it feel low-class, even if the mystery they are setting up has potential.

They use magic jizz that comes from black men

how do the androids eat and drink

You belong in a garbage can

Cliches such as?

are you fucking joking? You think the "story-line writer" is the best character? If you're referring to anthony hopkins I don't actually hate him in the show he does really well the problem is the writing just isnt very good. Like for example: After lead writer guy pitches ODYSSEY ON RED RIVER he gives this silly speech about how this isn't what the guests want and they don't come back to be titillated etc. EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THAT'S THE ENTIRE PREMISE OF THE FUCKING PARK. that's literally westworld's bread and butter. So the speech to me didn't really make much sense.

True Detective is pure kino.

Seemed very deliberately held back. Just judging by the tone and ominous music, he's going to make good on his promise.

No but really

thepiratebay.org/search/Westworld.S01E02/0/99/0

Its the ray from honey i shrunk the chinks

You're fucking stupid. People are drawn by the bread and butter, but they keep coming back because of the subtle design and little things that they keep discovering.

Like the man in black said, he likes this world better than the real one because nothing is random, it's all carefully designed with a purpose.

Have you considered that the writer guy was just bigging up his own importance in the park and that he was supposed to be completely wrong

I was hoping someone else would notice, it sounded like a shitty action movie trailer

>The show is setting up that character as an obvious substanceless reactionary dolt
And it's doing it in the most obvious, substanceless way. You can make one-dimensional characters without having them practically be lunatics with anger issues. The lack of subtlety in establishing those character traits is a sign of weak writing.

>ambiguous opinion using television buzzwords
enlighten us with these cliches.

>makes it feel low class
that means nothing. i dont even know where youre going there (context is the key; some examples perhaps)

clearly the purpose of that interaction was to show that character to be intimidating evil and brash. arbitrarily injecting the word "fuck" just makes him sound like an intimidating evil brash teenager which in my opinion isn't what the writers were going for. And if they were then thats fine but don't make all the other characters use the word "fuck" with the same frequency. I know this sounds petty and nitpick-y but for some reason misuse of the word fuck really gets me

...

I understand your argument but I feel as though you are trying to make concrete arguments about a show in it's infancy. The bottom line is, no one knows what is going to happen; the show could be complete fucking garbage but has the potential to be pretty good. It's a wait and see.

Yeah, I was joking, I'm not a fan of Sizemore.

>THAT'S THE PREMISE OF THE FUCKING PARK
Not really. I'm sure a lot of people go to kill and fuck, but plenty of people don't. I forget their names, but the veteran human character says to his friend that it's not all about killing and fucking, and that he shouldn't fall for the shitty pre-designed attractions. The Man in Black also talks about how it's the detail of the world that he's drawn to. So while all that murder and whoring and shit are indeed attractions, they're not the "Westworld magic" that Ford believes keeps people coming back. I think he laments what the park represents to the rest of management and wants Westworld to transcend its cheap theme park trappings.

It's basically the same as HBO and Game of Thrones. It might be the case that "tits and dragons" are drawing viewers to the show, but that would be pretty lame, and one might prefer to think that it's the complexity and detail of the show's universe. But since you can't know for sure, and since you need to make money, there will constantly be arguments on whether to include more sex and gore in order to maintain popularity.

I don't agree with you in that case, but if you had made the argument with Thadie Newton's disgusting character, I would've agreed. Also, the word "fuck" is used depending on what type of setting your in (work, formal, casual, etc). They have really made the hierarchy a bit ambiguous up to this point imo.

its too bad you didn't use the incorrect version of "you're" I could have corrected you and invalidated your argument right then and there.. you say
>People are drawn by the bread and butter
Yea so what about that story on the river lacks subtle design? Am I to believe that this character who wrote tons of other story lines (if not all of them) all over the park suddenly decided to slack on his pet project? I don't buy it. there's no evidence of it and definitely not enough evidence for the supposed old wise anthony hopkins

>Am I to believe that this character who wrote tons of other story lines (if not all of them) all over the park suddenly decided to slack on his pet project?

I like western themes and I liked deadwood, wasn't that big of a fan of hell on wheels. Would I like it?

>intimidating
kek. spazing out does not make you intimidating. He came of as an unstable drama queen with delusions of being a perfectionist. He is not evil, he is just a douche

Hopkins said no because he has his own thing already planned you retard

I definitely wouldn't watch it if you're solely interested in the Western aspect. It's more sci-fi than Western. Still solid though and definitely better than Hell on Wheels.

Probably not

or you know why not have more bread and butter in hopes of getting new people? games have expansion packs because superficial novelty often draws new people that then have a chance to explore the deepr levels

Well I guess we'll see if their two projects would have intersected in an incompatible way in future episodes. OTHERWISE he said no because he's weirdly idealistic about the kind of content is in his murderpark

I just have one question;

Why didn't they cast Walton Goggins? He could have even played one of the hookers.

Probably, isn't nearly as good as Deadwood but, it's the best show on HBO except The Leftovers atm.

Busy with Vice Principles. But that's not gonna make 3 seasons, so we might be able to poach him for Westworld Season 2.

This guy gets it. The Leftovers is GOAT.

>when ed harris says "I'm gettin too old for this shit"
>when cillian murphy says "I've got a baaaaad feeling about this"

If there is a God he must make it so.

You could have at least said when the wise and powerful nigger fucks the white woman.

That shits cliche as fuck now.

neither of those happened

Am I alone in thinking that Walton Goggins and James Marsden look a lot alike

Maybe those are clues? The show does have kinda meta-writing because there's writers for all of the hosts, maybe Harris' character is actually a host and got some fuckboy Delos writer doing his lines

>You could have at least said when the wise and powerful nigger fucks the white woman.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not, but I hope it is.

>2016
>Not CGI'ing a Yul Brenner robot in cold storage

Little easter eggs like this is what would make this show a 10/10

I guess both of them got a solid cheekbone and jaw game going?

There's a pretty close Yul-bot in Ep1, would have been better to CGI him rather than a lookalike though imo

>So while all that murder and whoring and shit are indeed attractions, they're not the "Westworld magic" that Ford believes keeps people coming back.
well so far the clientele of westworld seems like they were the absolute worst people transplanted from Las Vegas and that the vast majority of stories include murder and sex--which would make the story on red river not much different.
> I think he laments what the park represents to the rest of management and wants Westworld to transcend its cheap theme park trappings.
now this I can agree with you on, but then I think a more compelling speech would have been "We need more stories that explore people and X is my reason for not wanting to include cheap thrills"

people sure have strong opinions on this show

one more for the filter

It seems fairly clear that he's not really a bad guy

Episode 1 was kino. Episode 2 not really. Maeve'/ dream sequence and ford rattlesnake charming were the two good scenes in this episode

>Is it kino?
yes in a completely new class, dumpsterkino

How come british people are naturally better at acting than americans?

>tfw now have to wait 1.4285714285714286 weeks for the next episode

whats the deepest level of the game? is it a place where people can like actually die or something

tranny goggins will be the gunslinger

screencap this

why'd that guy shoot that other guy?

Just got done watching the first episode. So are the host like evolving? And are the guests the evil ones?

I think some of the characters are not human

how do we make HBO pay for this problematic representation of native americans?

the hosts are getting sentient through messing with their software, the guests are rich assholes paying money to live out their power fantasies, they're not evil they are just uncaring because its all made for their enjoyment

ATLEAST YOU CAN TALK

Didn't mean to respond to that post, whoops.

LITERALLY he just wanted to shoot someone

You are so fucking stupid holy shit

care to elaborate?

>how do we make HBO pay for this problematic representation of native americans?

you mean accurate?

Did they really do the black and white facepaint?

this episode wanted me to be in westworld

first episode didn't

Ok so how DO guests tell hosts apart from other guests? How did the guy know he wasn't stabbing a guest who happens to enjoy pretending to be an old drunkard?

Also, during shootouts why aren't the robots programmed to always miss guests instead of hitting them and getting surprised when the guests aren't hurt and ruining the immersion?

No

He recognized the old guy from the last trip. That's why he says "we're not interested" in his "treasure hunt"

fuck if I know
they did kill settlers

Kino means cinema is a fuckload of non-English languages.
The way Cred Forums is using it is wrong though.

>Ok so how DO guests tell hosts apart from other guests?

There doesn't seem to be any obvious way. Maybe there's not that many guests in the park at any one time.

>white men appropriates and indian man's body

Fucking racist crackers

where can i stream this plz help plz

Second episode sold me on it, but for one season. I have no idea how they drag this shit for 4 more even with different settings

Is this the epitome of non-kinoposts?

my guess is they don't at face value
but between the guns and conversations naturally venturing to highlighting their humanity, I imagine the fact presents itself soon enough

lol ok then

He's not. He's fucking the danish corporate chick.

WHERE THE FUCK IS MEDIEVAL AND ROMAN WORLD

so are there no laws in the park? could a guest just rape every robot he wanted? even the kid robots?

I think once the old man started literally going on about treasure maps might have been the giveaway.

>He recognized the old guy from the last trip. That's why he says "we're not interested" in his "treasure hunt"

Maybe but that can't be the only thing keeping guests from hurting other guests by accident.

>Maybe there's not that many guests in the park at any one time.

Didn't they say something about having 140 guests currently in the park in the first episode?

Yep, the site for it says there's no laws except for no harming other guests, everything else is a free for all

...

At some point in the season, shit will hit the fan and the robots will get their bloody vengeance, becoming the terror and scourge of the earth like the dad promised. I think what they're trying to do is set up a terminator AI apocalyptic type scenario, but with the protagonists being the robots. The creator is probably helping them and doing this on purpose, because he wants to advance humanity beyond their biological bodies.

as far as we can tell
I imagine there are rules to contain the really depraved stuff to the outer rings of the park

this guy is the perfect example of bad DM.

How exactly did she get MRSA in her tummy?

So is the black hooker decomissioned? If so I'm betting she'll plan a revolt with the guy who quoted Shakespeare last episode

bad cleaning protocols, time, and rotting semen

fucking teddy

she's back in rotation at the end of the episode

did you even watch the show

Loved seeing Jimmi Simpson, hope he tells his colleague to go fuck himself and does his own thing.

>140 guests currently in the park in the first episode?

Yeah. Maybe they are way spread out. It seems pretty big and we now know there are other villages/settlements. Might be the guests never come across more than a handful of humans after the train ride.

>we're supposed to feel sympathy for the supposedly sentient robots
>opening credits blatantly spells out it's all just an illusion

I don't think she is. The maintenance guys probably just thought they fucked up and will try to cover it up to save their own asses. But whatever is happening, it's all connected with what the dad said.

>These violent delights, to violent ends

Whatever that phrase means, it clearly awakens something in the hosts that causes them to start forming memories. The black hooker is wierd, because she was having memories/dreams of the new indians storyline which hadn't even been implemented yet so I don't know what fuckery is going on there.

They said 1400

I think she had dreams of a past Indian plot. And perhaps that was why ford didn't want to include it again because it had some effect on her

this where old memories.

the only sympathy youre supposed to feel is that they suffer everyday at the will of the guests

O look, its this guy again.

I thought it was gonna be a language-based trigger as well, but isn't it more likely that the employees of Delos are just shitty and forgot to wipe the memories?

Because when Maeve has that conversation with Clementine, Clementine also says she gets nightmares (which we know are her old memories).

I hope it's not like in Hostel 2 where it turns out that the nice guy is the most depraved and violent of them all once his inhibitions are gone

What if I wanted to be a child pedo rapist serial killer who chops his victims into a million different parts. Will I get kicked out of the park?

you mean they pretend to suffer, just like the robot pretends to be playing the piano in the opening

but he is the most depraved

>set up a terminator AI apocalyptic type scenario
that would be shit
that wouldn't be westworld

I've wanted to see that black chick naked since Rocknrolla.

Thank you, Westworld.

that guy needs a new friend. Treasure hunt sounded fun.

im pretty sure people playing the self playing piano was an actual thing and not a WW twist amigo

1400 guests
2000 hosts

Well shit, beats me. They got 60 percent chance of killing a bot and not a human. Sometimes you gotta roll the dice.

its canon

Nice use of "no surprises" by Radiohead this episode

Watching this whole second episode without even a glimpse at a bare breast, only to be rewarded with Thandie's puffies at the very end of it. I salute you, HBO.

yes

Why are people discussing whether the guns are real and can hurt guests but not bots?

Is it supposed to be a real place? I thought it was just a VR on steroids simulation , so was programmed that NPCs can die but players can't. Are they supposed to be physically there?

Yeah you're probably right it's just a random clip that absolutely in no way is supposed to foreshadow anything :^)

paint it black was aggressive

>one guy in a white hat
>the other guy in a black hat

This was the last time they spoke as friends.

I can't watch this show.
I've to do a fap break like every 20 minutes.

it was too out of focus and in the shadows the entire time. this show needs more slow, steady, gratuitous shots.

Why?

>robot with earring holes
immersion broken

no

killing is "legal", you might go to a jail inside the westworld if you get caught, but after the vacation ends, you are not a murderer, you killed a robot.

killing robots isn't illegal
why would raping a loli robot be illegal?

i know, robots should get crazy, but how do you keep that for 4 seasons
i mean, if shit doesn't hit the fan in the 1st season, it's boring, we're all waiting for that.

>mfw it plays out like Hostel and the dude in the black hat turns out to be a pussy while the other guy goes full on sadist

is putlocker dead? this isn't on it

Not as long as you stay out past the river when you do it

Our empire was built on charm and deceit. It's in our genes and our society. We're good liars which means we're good at playing make-believe.

so what is management and the executives' endgame?

i'm thinking downloading entire consciousnesses into the robots and living forever

>>>/reddit/

What's some essential Harriskino? I've only really watched pic related afaik

reviving my boyfriends dead black son

>I was born here

Did he mean it literally or metaphorically?

go watch Appaloosa

They are physically there

Shes not a robot, just a whore.

>Appaloosa
Looks good, thanks for the reply user

I think it's a bit of both. The employees are probably lazy as shit. Deleting memories entirely probably takes a lot of time, especially if you have to do it for the entire set of hosts. The memories have to be complex sets of data which would take up significant space on any sort of digital storage and would take time to delete. Now multiply that across thousands of hosts and I bet the employees found it easier to simply slap all the memories in a folder that the hosts aren't allowed to access, and the words the defective hosts are repeating is the code to unlocking their memories.

This all leads to the concept of a general learning AI, or an artificial intelligence that can learn and choose what it wishes to learn on it's own. One of the most important parts of learning is being able to remember your mistakes. The hosts can't be sentient currently because they don't hold any memories, despite having remarkable improvisational skills in regards to going off script. They already practically meet all the criteria for a general learning AI, for sentience. If they can access their memories and maintain them between cycles and then make modifications to their persona and behaviour accordingly as it would seem they are, it would mean they have achieved sentience and humanity is pretty much fucked at that point.

his "personality" was born there
not literally

just like Bane saying "You think the darkness is your ally, you merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it."

Robot corpses are physically outside the park for repairs and stuff. Its not all holograms.

bane?

>ywn be a hostess at westworld pretending to be a robot and allowing the visitors to beat, degrade, fuck and fill every single one of your holes with cum and allow them to use you just like one of the machines but secretly enjoying every second of it

No, it's TV. TV should be its own medium - this pseudo-cinematic aesthetic that's become the received way to make 'serious' TV is a short-changing of its specificity. But of course, this is partly because movies are TV now too, shot digitally and unable to look like film however advanced or expensive the equipment.

Either that or a child he lost

The Lazarus comment

I think ford designed ed Harris recently and put him in as a "newcomer" so no one else would notice. Man in black will awaken the robots and ford can live with them

what is kino

reddit

it means film or movie but to Cred Forums it's a super special awesome term for a super special awesome type of movie, Batman V Superman pure capekino, meaning it's neato completo amazing! :D

better than film, not quite cinéma

The Right Stuff, Enemy at the Gates, Apollo 13

JUST WATCHED 1 AND 2 FOR THE FIRST TIME

>white dude in black is blood meridian judge but for hbo kiddies right?
>trevor needs to stop getting all these small tv roles, hes a fucking abomination in person
>literally wtf is going on by end of ep 2? black programmer is doing something secret with white bitch, and black prost is somehow having dreams that involve harris AND can threaten a human with a knife for no reason?

3/5

so is kino good or bad

did you get your face trapped inside the bag of cheetos while watching again user?

...

Agreed. They wouldn't risk letting one of their creatures know the amount that she was able to tell Sheriff McPoyle.

Hmm I was meaning to watch Enemy at the Gates a few weeks ago, I'll have to grab it now.
Gonna grab the others too, thanks for the reply user

>that brutal attack on GoT

wew

Why does Hollywood keep trying to force Thandie Newton on audiences? Bitch can't act to save her life.

what does that mean?

also

>white woman kills fly and nobody does anything

>black prost is somehow having dreams that involve harris AND can threaten a human with a knife for no reason?

Hosts having memories of their past "lives" has been brought up several times during both episodes.

Why wouldn't she be able to threaten a human with a knife? She's supposed to have the personality of a sassy black prostitute. Only thing she can't do is actually hurt a human, well at least not unless her prime objectives gets fucked up.

stop posting anytime

>tfw no McPoyle milk joke
series fucking dropped

(You)
i thkught it was also brought up that they dont have dreams

idk, the washer dudes seem frightened of her with a knife

whats more interesting is how she scoffs when dolores says daddy's favorite line. its not like other commands where the hosts pause then change functions.

which means its a hidden function that cant be shown on a list or something if there is one and thats most likely why maintenance teams only found her STD

>white prozzie gets kissed by female tech
>black prozzie gets diagnosed with MRSA
pottery

youre 1 dimensional mind is concerning

there are characters who all have different ideas of what is happening and what they actually know is going on.

the characters arent speaking to you directly making all lines therefore true

you need to think.

a very small amount at that

its not complicated

So this guy is a hemsworth...

It was brought up that they can't dream because they don't have memory, but some of them are clearly starting to have memories tied to the update and/or memetic virus and with that they're starting to dream, I'd guess of events that happened in past builds/old stories but there could be implanted ideas, too.

I feel like Shannon Woodward's character secretly takes hosts to blindspots in the facility and fucks them

ghost busters 3 confirmed

he's right. Unless something specifically confirms that the robots are not just really good at pretending to be human only a fool would treat them as such. You don't call a self-playing piano a piano expert, it doesn't understand what a piano is, it was just built to play the song and that's exactly what it does. And the robots were built to pretend to be human so that's exactly what they do.

jesus christ how many of them are there

Either that or she's fallen in love with knockoff Chelsea Peretti.

321 thing could be some self hacking

she engaged far to considerately with Dolores too, she wants to or is fucking them all

last thing, it has to be black programmer that is telling white woman the line her daddy whispered before right?

whats the deal with that?

i would think someone who works at the place would know if dreams are programmed in or not

but sure i should have thought she was lying for no reason, then i wouldn't be retarded

>i thkught it was also brought up that they dont have dreams

They sometimes have remnants of memories of previous roles they've played which they perceive as dreams. Black chick played a settler with a kid who were attacked by indians every day over and over again in a loop and the man in black searched her out because he was looking for hosts under a lot of emotional stress because they were easier to break out of character for some reason and give him insider info.

> Why get emotional about a movie or a show? They're just acting

Anyone know what brand the story designer's sweater is? It looks fantastic.

At one point the overseers/handlers use it, so yeah, that does at least suggest an effort to self-hack/use command words on themselves.

>321 thing could be some self hacking

That's the phrase the lesbian analyzer says to wake the hosts up after analyzing them

how does pvp work

kay. i just chalk everything up to cheeky hopkins at this point
>self hacking
kek

in order for a self hack to work, this would imply that the hosts are never properly turned off while in service and are instead put into sleep modes, this has implications

Eh? I thought the black proz says that to some other proz in Ep2, did the lesbo say it before?

because you're in on it, you know that the people are just pretending but it's not like after the movie ended you are going to go out there and think it's real. If you saw Toy Story you don't pretend like toys are actually real, that would be retarded. So if you go in there and participate in Westworld then as long as you are part of that world you can pretend that everything is real all you want, it's kind of the point. This doesn't extended to staging a robot uprising and trying to help the hosts to escape because that goes outside of the realm of pretend.

>whats the deal with that?
I'm pretty sure Hannibal Lecter is obsessed with pushing his creatures towards consciousness/becoming the next stage in evolution, hence his speech in ep1 about Humanity having reached its pinnacle/gone as far as it can (at least in its current form). Felix Leiter is his bestie and so probably in on it.

the black prostitute got it from the lesbian, except of course the hosts aren't supposed to remember any of that

calling it now he runs out of time just before getting to the end of the maze and has to do everything again (but its been replaced by the church story) :^)

How does it compare to the movie? Because I really enjoy the movie.

It's a completely different take on the premise

Movie was better so far IMO, there's some neat places they seem to be going with the show though
If you enjoyed the movie you'll probably like the show though, even moreso since you've actually seen the film.

i just watched the movie after episode 1 and 2

almost fell asleep

do you have some 50 year old nostalgia goggles on

I thought the movie was more interesting than good but that the first two episodes are as strong a start to a series as I've maybe ever seen. Seems a fairly wide range of opinion on the matter so probably just have to give it a go if you have any interest either due to the movie of being a SF fan or just liking big budget TV.

So the last malfunction was 30 years ago and Harris has been coming for 30 years.

What if a host killed his daughter or wife or something, and in return the company offered him a lifetime pass?

Not him I'm , I think the movie is great. It does what I had hoped Jurassic Park would do in that you actually see what the park is like before it all goes to hell. It's true that nothing goes wrong until the last half hour, but the whole point of a slow build on the part of the staff before it all goes out of control.

Is this out on HBO or do I have to download like a degenerate neet again

Apparently there are 2 Admins in Westworld, the Anthony Hopkins character is the Admin that creates and controls the Park and the Ed Harris character seems to be the second Admin, created to protect the Park and the citizens
The bug of the Androids appear to have been caused by Ford, and the "Man in Black" seems to want to "save the system"

yeah, it wasn't leaked, hbo released early

on HBO GO

HBO released it early on their services so they don't have to compete with the debate

there are small instances of the part being just fine from the perspective of the the guests on several occasions

if you want to see a bunch of people in shiny white rooms doing nothing theres some of that too

the fact that its not a clear point A to B is preferable

nice theory

>second season takes place in Animeworld

PLEASE HBO

So why exactly did the robots go berserk in the movie?

>he paid a lot of money to become an admin
shit server desu desu

Implied to be a computer virus, sorta. They couldn't say that because when the movie was made, computer viruses didn't exist.

The kid: is it Ford's son, or Ford when he was young?

>do you have some 50 year old nostalgia goggles on
Nah, I only watched the film last year.

If anything you probably spoiled yourself by watching the episodes first. Obviously the show and film are going to be completely different, and your expectations were more on the show side after seeing it first.

I only watched the film because it had a neat Sci-Fi idea, and it delivered on that idea.
But you watched the film after seeing a show that has almost completely human robots, 202x technology, as well as 2016 women, it's obvious that your expectations would be too much for it.

If I were you I'd wait a few months after the show ends and try watching it again, it really is a great film if you can disassociate it from the show.

computer virus just manifests and spreads overwriting the no kill safety protocols

>Movie was written and directed by Michael Crichton
>he also wrote Jurassic Park
What did he have against sci fi theme parks

It's a robot. He commands it to go away and it does. It looks like it's designed to be him as a kid because he likes to go out in the desert and literally talk to himself for inspiration.

>future season deals with Roman World
>HBO goes the extra mile to reunite the cast of Rome

MAKE IT HAPPEN HBO

Nothing, what he was against was corporations, as both are controlled by money-grubbing assholes (though Hammond is changed to be a like a grandfatherly toymaker in the movie of JP).

>What did he have against sci fi theme parks

Nothing, but it's probably easier to write a compelling book about a park that goes haywire than about a park where nothing goes wrong.

Adding to this, if I watched the film right now after seeing the show I'd probably be disappointed by it too. Luckily for me I got to see the film first, and comparing that viewing to the episodes we've seen so far I prefer the film.

Once the other eps are released and we know more of the story that'll probably change though, since the show seems pretty good so far, all depends on what direction they take it.

>What did he have against sci fi theme parks
Or what did he have against coming up with new ideas.

>he hacked his gun

It's a LeMat. That means it can fire shotgun shells. Doesn't explain the penetration but if he put a slug in it then maybe.

You couldn't come up with Congo even if you tried.

I'm not saying it's a good idea (the book is pretty good, the movie is godawful), but it's certainly original.

Will there be baboons in Romanworld?
youtube.com/watch?v=llquJck7D-0

It isnt kino. It isnt particularly well acted or filmed. Without the unique premise it would fall apart

Eg true detective s2 (which got shat on) had a better shooty moment in its second episode with 2 shots fired than all the gun"fights" in westworld so far combined

>unique premise
Is it unique when it's based on a 40 year old film?

>It isnt particularly well acted or filmed

we're still at the everything is ok stage, wait for shit to hit the fan and the robots start murdering human shits

Sort of
Its true. Everyone who isnt harris or hopkins might as well be a robot
I am

>favored by the confederates

>cillian murphy

He's not in the show you idiot.

When was there any explanation of how the guns worked, besides the fact that 'you can't shoot anybody you're not supposed to"?

I wish they made him a rogue robot because he is a pretty great villain but it feels wasted since all he is doing is playing make believe

The fact that there is no real risk involved for any of the patrons doesn't make the whole thing seem like make believe?

Its true, every time an actor says fuck it feels incredibly forced

>blacked in 2nd episode
JESUS H CHRIST

I mean him acting like an outlaw takes away from the character and just makes him seem kind of goofy despite the fact he is being built up to be the antagonist.

>you can see the detonation wire for the glass

He's trying to do something that would obviously be prohibited by the owners of the park.

That does make him an outlaw of sorts.

What Luke Hemsworth's character said seems to contradict that.

you think he said that with comprehension of his ultimate plans?

I suppose it's too soon to know.

How do they stop the guest from stabbing each other?

Was wondering that myself.

Why does the one guy even enjoy killing robots? Theres no actual risk involved for him so whats the point?

It would be like playing a video game with invincibility cheats. completely boring

I think him showing the snake and then the church is foreshadowing that he is going to add the same dynamic to his eden as God did.

I worded that wrong but I think that will be a major role in the narrative he has been working on.

Ford also seems bored with it all and wants to shake it up.
