That's the odd part. It *should* be the past, but the fully Medieval setting makes Robin Hood being a popular "myth" sort of anachronistic. I always felt it was either an alternate earth or our own post-post-apocalyptic world.
I'm sure there must be a literary term fir such a setting - a milieu that's post-technology.

If you guys had read the book, you'd know it's a giant mish-mash. It has modern references in it too.
