Why do you care

I don't think Neil Patrick Harris can pull it off

Why do you care

Why do you care?

what is this

A series of unfortunate events.

you can say that again.

that again

that terrible how i met your mother finale must've really taken a toll on him

Agreed, Jim Carrey was the best thing about the original movie.

Warburton won't be able to match Jude Law as the narrator, either, and both Uncle Monty and Mr Poe got hit with the diversity stick for no particular reason.

Shaping up to be inferior in every way. In fact, I can't name a single Netflix original series so far that hasn't been a major disappointment. They're all like Breaking Bad - hailed as though they're the second coming of the motion picture messiah, masturbated over profusely by critics, then the hype dies down and you get around to watching them and they're kinda 7/10. A few impressive performances held back by mediocre scripts, dodgy performances from the rest of the ensemble, and often an obtrusive moral subtext.

I strongly believe they've squandered the power that they seized by slaying Blockbuster.

no one can top jim carrey's performance

No, don't watch it.

Jim Carrey wasn't in How I Met Your Mother you friggin' doofus.

I don't hate Neil Patrick Harris, but man. He's terrible. The only performance of his I've ever seen where he seemed at all natural was Dr. Horrible. Who the hell told NPH he has range?

woah there friend calm down Jim Carrey played the dad on How I Met Your Mother
make sure to use google next time you're wrong but you wanna be rude

Carrey was too much goofy Carrey instead of menacing Carrey which I think would have worked better for the movie.

Really, the entire movie is forgettable (except for how qt Emily Browning was).

I don't have faith in NPH. He'll never be anyone other than NPH to me. When I was watching Gone Girl, I believed in Tyler Perry more than I did him.

The tone of Carrey's performance fitted the tone of the books and the movie, which was more dark absurdism than actual menace, and it was full of memorable moments, mostly involving Carrey as well.

So I'd say you were completely wrong on both counts, but that's arguing matters of taste so it's all moot really.

Carrey and Emily were the best parts of the movie

I think the opening of the movie was great.

The fact that it tried to condense 3 books was really off-putting though.

I rewatched it about a year ago, and there really isn't anything about the adaptation popping out at me.

I was disappointed in the movie when it came out, and I was twelve at the time.

his hair reminds me of that pic of moot outside his apartment

I've been looking for that pic actually

How many books is it following?

If it does well, probably all of them

I really feel like Warburton is one of the least Lemony Snicket-tier type of person it's a fairly odd choice for that type of guy
I dunno man i'm hammered.

it's a series, so potentially all of them and then they'll pull a GoT

First season, first 4 books

I mean what this first season will cover.
I feel like a 13 episode 13 book season would be beyond rushed.

It's 2 episodes per book. First season covers the first 4 books.

I'm looking forward to it.

The film is okay, and the only thing I really liked about it was Carrey and Browning because she's so damn cute.

The finst time I read through the series I was pretty damn frustrated because of how it ended. I still wish I had more answers, but the lead up to all of that is great.

The book where he tries to saw Violets head off is still one of the darkest moments I've ever read in a children's book.

so will the nigga have fucking glasses this time

They're adapting the fourth book. I don't know how they would avoid glasses this time, considering how essential they are to the plot of that book.

...

Looks bad, Todd

This show has been a disaster behind the scenes. Netflix and the showrunner couldn't agree on budget and tone.

That's why they took so long to start filming and why the show runner dropped out a month before filming. Also why they cut the episode order to 8 (from 13)

I guarantee a week or so before it comes out you';ll see a story in one of the major trades talking about what a mess it's been. Similar to the one about The Get Down that was in Variety.

I always thought they did quite a bit of both. Olaf was definitely absurd, but he was also legiitmately cruel and menacing which I didn't get from Carrey. He seemed to goofy to actually be taken seriously.

>I still wish I had more answers
I know how you feel, but I think that's part of the charm. It might be more satisfying in the short term, but I think it would detract from the quality of the book if everything got tied up.

He's funny in Harold and Kumar. Also, decent in Starship Troopers.

American accents.....

Dropped.....

Are the books really that long?
Are the episodes an hour long?

Wow. You just made a little part of me want to commit suicide, you know- the part of me that kinda liked the first movie.

I'm sorry, user, that was not my intention. I hope the rest of you can stay strong.

D A B

Should be fun. Curious to see Sunny swordfight with her teeth

Christ, with those kids and NPH it could almost be the movie. Which isn't a bad thing in my book as I thought it was great, the sepia-drenched aesthetics were godly.

That's because of "Family friendly" issues. In the books Olaf was more agressive and unpleasant person in the first half of story. I'm afraid Netflix will pull his comedic side again.

Me too. Orwell death thrilled me as fuck.

>tossed salad and scrambled eggs

is that Jim Carrey?

muppet christmas story remake

No it's taylor momsen

>character is an old guy
>cast a mid thirties something actor

WOW you have GOT to be shitting me... this is blatant ageism like, really hollywood????

source?

Torrent it if you have to watch it. That nph guy is a flamboyant homosexual and a vocal Trump detractor. We should not be giving him money to prance around in front of cameras while he tells us how to vote.
