I did find the first episode a bit more interesting overall, especially that performance by "Peter Abernathy" aka Louis Herthum, that was some powerfully emotional stuff. I kinda wish we'd see more from him later on but I suppose being decommissioned means that's it for him but who knows for sure. IMDB shows he's listed for 5 discrete episodes so let's hope it's just not a bunch of flashbacks and actual new acting performances.

Their assumptions are "they say TMiB has been going to Westworld for 30 years..." and then mentally doing math that says 2016 - 30 = 1986 for the original story (which actually was released in 1973 looking forward) or something similar and so on and they'd be wrong.

While that's all wrong and there's no direct stating of any actual dates, it's safe to assume based on the technology being promoted in the original movie would have been something well into the 2000 range in terms of years even though - because it was filmed in 1972-1973 - it looks like some cheesy old western flick gone awry (including Medieval and Roman world as well).
