Where is everyone physically at while in the simulation? And what is with the revolving map thing they look down on? I haven't watched episode 2 yet, but I'm just confused about the logistics of the whole thing.

is this a new meme or something?

then watch episode two, it somewhat explains a little of what you're asking

Can we all now agree that the Westworld park is a vast underground cavern, possibly on another planet or more likely IMO, a large hollowed out asteroid?

Seems pretty clear from this scene (pic related) of the guests arriving, that there would be no need for a long distance _underground_ high-speed rail system unless the atmosphere were hostile or there was no atmosphere.

>underground high-speed rail system

The location of the actual "Westworld" is somewhere in the southwest, looks to be someplace covering parts of Arizona as well as Utah. The participants - the hosts aka the bots and the guests aka the newcomers - are all actually on the site.

What we see in the HQ area is the monitoring of all the activity - this isn't like a Matrix type thing where people just jack in and share a simulated experience, it's all real for the participants meaning for the hosts as well since they don't technically know they're not humans.

But that's about to change since that's what Westworld - the original movie - was all about: shit going wrong when humans play God and that's exactly what's happened here once again.

This is basically Jurassic Park done in a different manner: they fucked up the first island and it all went wrong (like the original Westworld 30 years ago as they state in this new series) and yet the people paying for it just don't learn their lesson and decide "Fuck it, we'll do it again only better" aka "The Lost World" and other bullshit.

>stupid fucking people will be the death of us all

Do you think they regretted including this shot because of how many retards it tricked into thinking it was all a simulation?

>stupid fucking people will be the death of us all

Indeed, so why are you responding to one?...

Why is there no recall of users so Man In Black cant stay for free extended roleplay?

Any porn lookalikes?

How do people as fucking stupid and inattentive as you even manage to operate a computer?

Seems to me, if they can create robots indistinguishable from a human, they’d use simpler yet still highly capable and efficient robots for the grunt work downstairs.

Why pay a human to hose down robots when you can get a robot to do it for nothing?

Fuck off reddit

This

Who says they arent robots

As long as he's giving tons of money, why should they care?

Why would they, it's a fade from one scene (the long distance shot) into another (the monitoring station in HQ), or were you just not paying attention?

Asking a decent question or two is a highly intelligent thing to do, especially considering the poster said they hadn't seen the second episode (which was posted online by HBO on Friday morning so people would watch it and not held till Sunday night when the fucking Presidential debates will be airing).

Smart move by HBO, certainly.

The show is interesting so far, but it remains to be seen if it'll last. Supposedly HBO bought in for 5 seasons of it up front, not sure it's going to have that kind of staying power so far but, there's hope that might change.

I did find the first episode a bit more interesting overall, especially that performance by "Peter Abernathy" aka Louis Herthum, that was some powerfully emotional stuff. I kinda wish we'd see more from him later on but I suppose being decommissioned means that's it for him but who knows for sure. IMDB shows he's listed for 5 discrete episodes so let's hope it's just not a bunch of flashbacks and actual new acting performances.

Why is it a meme to ask about the open questions the first episode left? I just don't get it. It's based on a book right? I just want to understand

i think the black programmer guy is a host that solved the maze, if a host becomes sentient and solves the maze he gets to live up in the facility with humans in "hell"

Good point. Robots should be used throughout society. Much we don't know about the world.

that would be very dangerous and that's the reason why I think it's unlikely: having robots in almost every level of the operation would compromise everything and would have humans in disadvantage in any uprising event

Short answer: I think they would have hinted it by now, if that were the case

Thank you

You're missing the point faggot...
These purpose built life emulating devices would be too expensive to hose down other robots. Take into account manufacturing costs, research & development and of course on-going maintenance. Building a separate manufacturing line purely for maintenance purposes makes no economic sense whatsoever.
Maybe a little more education in R & D would make you look less like a homosexual.

Why does the holomap look so terrible graphics wise, it almost seems deliberate

what's that song the saloon's piano thing is playing in the beggining of episode 2?

well not in the beggining but you know, the scene right after ed harris "kidnaps" the man that's about to hang

it sounds like radiohead but I'm not much of a fan and none of the search results is the right song.

>what's that song the saloon's piano thing is playing in the beggining of episode 2?

Radiohead - No Surprises
>me thinks

>having robots in almost every level of the operation would compromise everything and would have humans in disadvantage in any uprising event

And yet they let thousands of robots run around interacting with dumbass tourists everyday?

They've got hundreds if not thousands of older model robots down in cold storage, why not use them as labor bots? Even an "old timer" like Wild Bill Hickok could be reprogramed to mop floors, carry stuff ect.

For that matter, I would think all robots would have a "minimum functionality" program, that lets humans tell them to walk over there, take a shower and other run-of-the-mill stuff without needing to activate their higher functions.

No Surprises

yeah, I don't know if that's the one, but that's definitely the one I was thinking about aswell.

thanks lad.

>These purpose built life emulating devices would be too expensive to hose down other robots.

As I said; they’d use simpler yet still highly capable and efficient robots for the grunt work downstairs, C3PO type robots.

But again, why not use some of the deactivated and doing nothing robots in the basement levels as labor bots?

maybe it's cheaper to use manual labor than to continually spend money on upkeep of these malfunctioned robots

you autists piss me off so much when you bring stuff up that's not even an issue in the story?

Let me do this analogy
That'd be like putting convicts to serve as guards, just because it would be cheaper. Compromising two different levels is way more dangerous than the thousand robots situation

it's not an open question. there's ONE establishing shot that makes it sort of seem like it could be a simulation. literally everything else that happens contradicts that possibility.

It's not an open question. you're just fucking stupid.

Can you pay to live a day that resets like we've seen in the first episode or can you pay for a week, month in this world?

>dangerous

Then let me put it this way to you; if humans thought there was a danger of robot revolution, Westworld wouldn't exist.

The whole premiss of the tv series is that the robots are going to rebel and the humans don't know that's possible.

And labor bots wouldn't have the high programing of robots working with tourists, they'd just be mobile version of industrial robots we use today (that nobody is afraid will rebel).

Dude, stop replying to trolls....

Nice dubs

Sir, if you want a robot who's capable of programing binary load lifters very similar to your vaporators, all well and good. However some long term unemployed inbred halfwitted 8 dollar an hour employee would be better suited.

>premiss

Seriously, can we replace all the stupid fucking people with psychopathic unstable automatons, please? I think we'd probably do better, to be honest.

I still don't get the appeal of Westworld as an attraction. So you get to participate in some boring cosplay LARPing, shoot some robots and then fuck some robots while being filmed. The fuck is worth fortune here?

>Thandie Newton will never try to rape you

>(that nobody is afraid will rebel

pic related is a robot I purchased to do menial chores - e.g. take out the trash & hosing down the driveway

but its like theyre people! That want to fuck me!

What was the thing Ford built at the end? What's with the cross?

>However some long term unemployed inbred halfwitted 8 dollar an hour employee would be better suited.

Nonsense, humans call in sick, fuck around on their cell phones, sneak off to fuck whore bots, etc.

Every manufacturer on Earth (and other planets) would want labor bots.

Because - when things are going correctly - the guests are basically Gods more or less and can literally do anything they want. It might not be murdering actual humans but, once they get into the idea of the setting and that little mental switch clicks into place, killing the hosts will damned sure create that same emotional bond and they'll end up wanting more and more of it like any potent drug.

>the irony of me having to check a box that says "I'm not a robot" when participating in a thread about a TV show about robotic/autonomous life forms gaining sentience isn't lost on me

It's an IRL GTA game. Don't even tell me people wouldn't fall over themselves to do this.

>Don't even tell me people wouldn't fall over themselves to do this.

Exactly, and Grand Theft Auto World would have even more tourists.

RDR you mean
Also, GTA on god mode is pretty fucking boring.

Checked

Balderdash! You show me a labor bot that costs less than $8 an hour.

Robots need maintenance. Continually taking time off to do updates and then the rollbacks and of course virus' from porn sites.

so user which hat do you pick?

The show has only hinted at this, but there has to be a way to make things more difficult for guests. Some guy suggests doing something to slow down the Man in Black. Maybe they're able to restrain you but not harm you?

More dubs!

Remember Future World?

Except in GTA there's a high risk of vehicular homicide, falling off of tall buildings and that type of shit. Westworld you might fall off a horse or trip on a piece of wood.

Legal liability wise its a much safer idea

...

5/10

>mfw I thought they were showing Futureworld in the opening of e2

Consider less interesting guest who want to experience the same things from a slightly different angle. Memory would spoil that.

I expect we'll also find out that the Man in Black is actually an agent of some aspect of the corporation, as he appears to know some of the "magic" hand gesture controls (he waved off the prostitute in E1 with a gesture,) and the head security douche said something to effect that "that gentleman gets whatever he wants" in E2.

I hope this gets Jimmi Simpson more roles

W-Y has been totally redeemed in my mind because of something i read on tv tropes. We consider them to be an evil corporation that wants to posses the Aliens as a bioweapon, but have you ever thought about who they want to use them as a weapon against?

They wanted to have the Aliens as an ultimate weapon to protect the human race from extinction from alien races like the Engineers.

Well, we haven't seen that, but the Man in Black has been coming for 30 years and no one remembers him. I suppose it would dick up too many other guests' storylines.

Hard to imagine a more VIP guest than the MiB.

We also don't know dick about the outside "real" world.

For all we know, it might be full-blown matrix out there, and this is the only place you can get the upper hand on a robot.

>people find Talulah attractive
>I'm just not seeing it
>see this scene
>see this dialogue

Ok, so I'm asking: what the fuck is it?

her nose seems off

is this shopped?

That ain't the only thing.

No, that's her, as shown in episode 2.

>The location of the actual "Westworld" is somewhere in the southwest, looks to be someplace covering parts of Arizona as well as Utah.

It’s supposed to LOOK like Arizona or Utah but it will end up being a vast underground cavern (hollowed out by nukes) on another planet, that probably has some kinda uninhabitable atmosphere.

So what you are saying is you wouldn't?

yeah no i guess i mean the actress has a fucked up nose minus that...could get down

AYYYYYY LMAO

what is some essential Evan Rachel Wood-core?

she's too fucking qt

>Balderdash! You show me a labor bot that costs less than $8 an hour.

Right here:
I'm a machinist who makes the weld guns that are mounted on those KUKA industrial robots (we're a subsidiary company) and manufacturers buy them because they're better then human welders and despite being initially expansive as fuck, they're ultimately cheeper.

Nigga, you gay.

Is it possible, with the right money, to get the park to build a horse cock futa robot? Like a full on Dmitrys muscle futa?

This show's really failing when it comes to having interesting characters and performances
Hopkins is doing his best Hammond impression, but where are this show's Grant or Malcolm? I don't give a fuck about obnoxious scientists being cynical n shiet

You're asking me. I'm still trying to find her porn lookalike.

>clusterfuck TV

I think she's hot but this show has some weird casting, the background whore bots who get no lines and are only seen for a second or two, are hotter then the her or the main whore bots who get all kinda screen times.

>heh, that's a 2 where we're going
>these two show up

I don't know I find her hot

I guess Edd Harris's character used to be "that kid" in his younger days.

I'm assuming since you can kill little kids, its also legal to rape them, right? The park would be flooded with rich pedophiles

it is like something I read, some scientists finds a drug for eternal life with a high mortality rate. so they keep kidnapping people and injecting them the drug by force, as they are instructed by a supercomputer

yes but I doubt they accept the mentally ill

Pick a robot to like, Jack. They're the protagonists here.

they just make the kids ugly

they are unscripted and just used as holes

She looks weird in photos, but hot in motion

>pander to psychopathic escapist needs to kill and rape
>subset of rape is mental illness/could potentially deter real abuse
You might get looks but shrug it off as "Der just hosts feller"

It would be funny to see a guy strolling though town with a lilhost on his horse while saying hi to everyone.

just like me ;__;

So was she a robot or not?

>to find the maze you must kidnap the card dealer, drain him of blood until he only has 3 litres left, take his scalp to a mexican, shoot dead the mexicans family except for the daughter, and then the daughter will reveal to you the entrance of the maze
Can't believe they hired "that kid" to write

I was wondering what the giant green area is for on the map

>just a huge field full of tall grass and little kids playing hide and seek where they unleash the pedos onto without bothering the other guests

i mean she was offering up sex

she looks like an 8 year old vin diesel

>that kid is the writer
>"the maze" is just some meta trolling by the developers

She is a robot or she is really cock hungry slut.
The other guys zipper was open when he entered the train, so he fucked his hostess girl too.

now she looks even uglier

What kind of mods is MiB using? Nigga is going to break the game.

>*click*

>WELL PUT YOUR LITTLE HAND IN MINE

>THERE IS NO HILL OR MOUNTAIN WE CAN'T CLIMB

that must be some quick fuck though

it was hopkins and no one else knows about it

>implying you wouldn't fuck her, scalp or no scalp

cant wait to see the smug face of MiB turn sour when the robots actually can hurt him.

iddqd

Only people in charge are human, every type of personnel in the park or shuttling guests to and from are hosts.

Is it cheating if you have a wife at home but you visit westworld and fuck all the robots?
Isnt it just like masturbating?

I guess we have to assume that the retarded "good" blonde guy took a lot of time to pick a fucking hat then

It is a quest from 30 years ago. Since it has so many steps no one bothered to complete it. And its existence is forgotten

Please tell me that this based motherfucker will return

>be Cred Forums autist
>find inspiration from this show
>relentlessly work towards a waifu utopia
>waifus from various time-frames
>historical waifus
>actress waifus
>and every waifu in between

>create Cred Forums world
>includes actresses from different periods of time
>Personality modeled after achieve of interviews
>Program a storyline where you are the BoomMic guy in a production featuring all three Emma's

>Get to rehearse with them because of shortage of staff
>Each day is a new shoot day, with subplots of you ending up in their trailer if you play your cards right

Why do they waste this technology on nobodies and not model them on Grace Kelly or Movie character (hermione)...probably too 4th wally.

since they look and act like real women it would be no different than sleeping with a hooker

>Since it has so many steps no one bothered to complete it. And its existence is forgotten
That actually has some credence to it, what with this "Arnold" character that died years ago and is meant to be mentioned next ep, that faggot probably added some gay quest that gets solved in the last ep of the season and doesn't mean shit

I love how Endgame Man is basically that one nerd who never left the game and spent his entire life 100%-ing all the cheeves

>Why do they waste this technology on nobodies and not model them on Grace Kelly or Movie character (hermione)...probably too 4th wally.
Because you'll get sued to shit for using someones likeness without their permission and ain't nobody but pornstars going to agree to let their likeness get fucked and mutilated daily by rich weirdos.

What happens in Westword never happened.

You go alone and tell them you roped steer and sang campfire songs, and they go alone and tell you they didn't get plowed by some field hand with a robocock.

that scene gives me chillz evritiem

>tfw your boss won't let you create some relentless fucking experience

>Because you'll get sued to shit for using someones likeness without their permission
kek, there's hundreds of "realdoll" type sites that let you buy celeb dolls already, why would they care about copying likenesses?
all I can say is, human clones when

>this is a 2
>cut to a nigger for the rest of the episode

for fucks sake

Where have I heard this plotline before

Is someone counting how many times kenny died?

"no"

I got 4

there's a difference between some place in china do whatever the fuck they want and some theme park in america.

Is this show good? Why do they have a western simulation instead of actually making a western? If there is a reason, how different the digital world is from a far-west place? Thanks.

Its a scifi show not a western.

srsly

what would you do in her situation?

Probs just finger myself and make sure to taste it

>Why do they have a western simulation instead of actually making a western
God you are dumb as fuck.

I would use a better body double

I work in computers it shouldn't be hard at all to do a full memory wipe on anything that can be programmed

So how long is a single loop? does each character just repeat until someone engages with them or is there like a 2 week time frame where everything resets?

I bet they can spell too ;)

They said that the revories function was allowing the memories to effect core programming, and wiping doesn't effect the changes made.

memset(androids_brain,0,sizeof(char)*length)

how does a half black girl have such a terrible ass
and why would they give a host that is supposed to be a prostitute a terrible ass
fuck

God you can't be this fucking stupid either. Westworld is attractive, because westerners were hugely attractive in the 20s to 70s as films, and these people want to be in *THOSE NARRATIVES* (like Red River, or the Unforgiven etc.) themselves, play pretend etc.

it's actually her bruv

OK, so this show is basically playing GTA VR? What is the fucking problem there? How do you expand the plot?

MECHANICAL HAND

HollywoodWorld would suck because people would be fighting over fucking the same robots.

"FUCK OFF, TSWIFT IS MY WAIFU!"

start killing meatbags

This show makes me confused
One the one hand, I feel bad for the hosts, because they seem to have genuine emotions.
But on the other hand, arent they all just robots, with all their emotions beeing fake?

They're allegories for stories writers write and directors direct, and the lack of disrespect from the viewers dismissing them just as carcasses satisfying their need for 'fun' or 'action'.

They're tragic 'things' in that sense and I guess they'll have some uprising once they realize their fate and how they've been mistreatede tc.

he doesnt shoot her though, its probably like Fallout where kids are bulletproof so normies dont get triggered

this is one of the problems i have with robots that "feel" in films.

The emotion is not genuine. A robot expressing emotion is like a psychopath pretending to feel a certain way.

every robot is essentially Dexter.

In addition to the cost issues, I imagine it's because the head dog likes to play god; the park is his pride and joy, so because of that he chose humans to watch over his creations.

Of course it's not genuine because it is all made up, in any show, goddamn, how do you fucking miss the point this fuckign hard, holy fuck am I reading thread by fucking retards

they seem to be starting to remember things which is where it gets sad

of course in real life they wouldn't let malfunctioning robots around rich human guests but its a sci-fi show so shit has to start going wrong at some point

I think the angle will be the contrasting of humans in this super advanced world being sociopaths to the fake robots acting like real people. Of the human characters only jimmy Simpson's character seemed to be normal.

>of course in real life they wouldn't let malfunctioning robots around rich human guests
Do you doubt how greedy and lazy people can be? Like really, nigga?

don't you have some rockets to work on or something, elon?

>I have this amazing idea for half-life 3, the fans will love it!
>no

>because it is all made up, in any show, goddamn,

Well, there's a problem if you're thoughtful.

Normally, you empathise with fictional characters due to some suspension of disbelief but it's not possible when you're reminded that the characters are deliberately faking their expressions.

Otherwise, you're being sucked into the stories that have been developed by that skinny British dickhead in management.

a place like that would have so many rules and regulations to avoid getting sued by rich cunts it wouldn't just be up to one stupid chinky to remember to put them on sleep mode

This show has great production value but the writing is all over the place and shit. That's what you get when you hire a Nolan to write your show

>Double her aggression.

how do the guns work? what makes the robots vulnerable to them but has bullets that bounce off humans?

>it's not possible when you're reminded that the characters are deliberately faking their expressions.
Yes it is. You might not be able to enjoy the huge focus on meta narrative and story but I can. The commentary is about the use of these things as satisfactory tools to just dumb them, and what'd happen if they'd be self aware of the viewer and of themselves.

>Otherwise, you're being sucked into the stories that have been developed by that skinny British dickhead in management.
Yes, like with any story pick fucking Sopranos or pick fucking Twin Peaks, same thing, sucked into story made by some dickhead.

this
they would probably have to run turing tests on the robots constantly, or they would be only allowed to create them in a way that makes it for them phyiscally impossible to gain consciousness.

It's shit writing m8

Don't even worry about it

How do bullets work, and why are they so retarded?

I just assumed the guns were super advanced and could recognize if they were pointing at a robot or a real human beeing.
If the target was robot or nothing, they would shoot for real, if the target is human, they use blanks

>Doubting how lacking corporate greed can be.
You should know better based on real world.

Narrative plot armor. No, really. Of course there's an 'down to earth' autism explanation, but the real one is narrative plot armor.

>not realizing that corporate wants the robots to gain consciousness

I knew Cred Forums was stupid but damn.

they didn't show her breast during the diagnostic scene. I also don't remember them showing her breasts and face in any other scene

The problem is the show relies on you feeling bad stuff like delores getting raped, the black hooker getting killed and so on. But they're just robots so you don't feel bad for them.

>if the target is human, they use blanks

but you saw the 30 year dude get hit with something, there were dust puffs where he got hit and something bounced off.

>they're just robots so you don't feel bad for them.
They're made up things made to serve a purpose to excite and drag the viewer to a story, like any character in any film for example. The people in Sopranos aren't fucking real either.

The fact you don't feel bad (and mind you, the 'human characters' in the show don't either) tells volumes about the viewer . I guess that one faggot from Sunny In Philly had some doubts but it was his first time in the rodeo.

well they don't really die or get scars but they have mental scars

>they're just robots

They're more than that though. They have feelings and experience the pain, how have you not understood that?

Yea they're meant to recognise if the target is human or robot, in addition to whether or not the shooter is a human or a robot.

This is why the scene at the end doesnt make any sense, because even if she found someone elses gun, the gun should be able to recognise whether or not she was a human and then not let her shoot. I guess the counter argument to this (which is stupid) is that the guns cant recognise whether or not a human is firing them, but that just seems stupid.

It's a simulation, the tears aren't real they are just a pre-programmed response. It's the same reason the movie 'Her' was so stupid, it's just a machine.

The literal explanation for why Ed Harris does not die is plot armor in the narrative and it's 100% legit interpretation based on how heavy this show is on the meta commentary, narrative and stories.

Fucking tropes like the hookers are having flashbacks to million narratives they've played in different films and are getting PTSD for fucksake.

This shows really flying over your literal heads.

it can be shooting some high tech stuff that vaporizes before reaching the target if the target is carrying a tag signal or just body temperature
they better explain it in detail

The way the shows makes up for that is by making the customers really unlikable.

So, even though there's no stakes if a robot lives or die - you want to see the robots punish the customers for being filth.

And all the characters in management are garbage by the way. The smoking lady's personality is incredibly paper thin and the British man is a caricature. I want to see these guys die.

>It's a simulation, the tears aren't real they are just a pre-programmed response.
what do you think the other actors are doing in any other show? Do you think the shows are real?

Good god

>plot armor

obviously they aren't going to allow the guests to get hurt by robots, I just wanted to know the particulars of the technology. When I first saw him get shot and be invulnerable I assumed the whole thing was a computer simulation.

but it is not how it is depicted
the show makes it look like they have some psychological trauma

I never said anything about Ed, I'm talking about if any random person were to be shot by that gun.

Why so violent? Synths aren't people.

Other shows are about humans, real people. Like if these were real people then I might feel something, but they are just machines designed to look like humans. The knowledge of that prevents normal people from feeling bad, like even that black kid wasn't fooled come on.

If they had as highly developed robots as in series, maintenance would be made by robots and by robots only. Don't even try to squirm away from this. The OG film had these plot holes, and so does this series

>marrying the same woman twice

1. When Ford created the boy robot, he was clearly recreating himself as a child. Their fathers used the same idioms.
2. That robot probably gets raped every day like all the other robots, possibly even more so.

Yeah, I hope we get to see more of the outside world and what seems to be a post scarcity world filled with degenerates.

It's plot armor in the narrative. He can't die, because it's not his time to die in the story yet - get it? That's the actual 'technology' of it, the script writer (Nolan or whoever) has not written the words down 'This time Harris dies when confronting a robot' .

It applies to them too, it is not in their narrative.

>Other shows are about humans, real people
Oh dear God no. Don Draper is not a real human, it's actor (allegory in Westworld = robot) playing a character for the masses.

YOu can't be this thick about what this show is about for christ sake

>plot armor

you obviously don't know what that means

Left or right?

Dolores is grade-A waifu material

grey

The simple explanation is that the guns are comically low calibre but the robots are packed with impact triggered squibs.

Meh shes grade B at best

"good guy" chooses a white hat and the "bad guy" is dressed in black

bravo nolan

>not based tan

It's amazing how many of you fuckers have never seen the original movie or read the book this new retelling of the story is based upon.

>so much stuff is explained
>you have no idea
>the inner workings and the details matter more than you can fathom

>good guy
>white

Not in this day and age

JESUS CHRIST SHE MAKES MY DICK SO FUCKING HARD I SWEAR TO GOD

With the crazy scalping flashbacks and totally alien situation?

I would have leaped off that balcony.

That or kill kill kill.

It's going to be a trip when they realize they aren't human's, and stop worrying about getting hurt.

Imagine Delores punch her hand straight through some human's chest.

And since they are effectively immortal, they might just kill expecting the humans to come back.

You're missing the point of the question I'm asking.

This guy gets it, and explains the above point as well ^^.
Low calibre bullets from guns that a.) don't fire when aimed at a human, and b.) don't actually cause any damage to the robots hard skin, but cause an electronic tag (eg like lazer tag as a child) that activates an actual gunshot injury if it's coded in the narrative.

>new retelling of the story

They mentioned the 'incident' 30 years ago as something that happened.

It's more like only Ford (and perhaps unknown others) have root, and normal users are trying to control the system.

What is happening is by design.

>With the crazy scalping flashbacks and totally alien situation?
Reveries, already explained.

>I would have leaped off that balcony.
No, you wouldn't.

>That or kill kill kill.
A possibility given she had access to real-world technology aka the scalpel.

>It's going to be a trip when they realize they aren't human's, and stop worrying about getting hurt.
There's a lot more to it than that, son.

>Imagine Delores punch her hand straight through some human's chest.
That's just you playing out your sick fantasies. If you had the money you'd make a perfect guest.

>And since they are effectively immortal, they might just kill expecting the humans to come back.
They're not immortal, not even close.

>new retelling of the story
watching the movie didn't seem to make you any better

I'm no tmissing the point of your question, I'm telling you your question is misdirected and wrong. If you interpret this show in a literal level you are
>doing it wrong
>missing out on a bunch of stuff

the gun she finds is a regular gun

it WILL be able to shoot humans

lol no

well it could be the movie but I've kind of assumed the series is a complete reboot with the movie never happening
but it would be pretty cool if the movie played a part in the series

Of course it is, just like her original father Peter Abernathy found the real photograph that drove his artificial intelligence to the brink of sentience.

At least someone is paying attention, thank Ford.

>see what I did there

and they said it wasn't the photo that caused it...

I thought this was pretty fucking obvious. Why are people so fucking stupid?

Didn't he say not just the photo?

Yeah, despite the general Cred Forums opinion Delores is literally best girl

It's an open question.

It didn't appear they were bouncing, but exploding/disintegrating before hitting.

I'd wager the bullet's are detecting sensors in the guest's cloths, or possibly the simulation is tracking everyone's position.

Maybe everyone in the future has an embedded transponder.

It does seem like there's a lot of potential for accidents.

I wonder what happens when a robot put's on a guests clothes, or wear's their skin?

>I had a question.
>A question you're not supposed to ask.
>Which gave me an answer you're not supposed to know.

The question is: What am I?
The answer is: Not real.

Pay attention, kids, the answers so far have been right there in the two episodes.

And please, no Jaden Smith "HOW CAN REALITY BE REAL WHEN IT AIN'T" meme bullshit.

>visit westworld
>bring 8 year old brother with you
>order Delores to devirginize him
Can she even refuse?

>implying there's anything illegal about 8 year olds using talking fleshlights

This thread is too fucking stupid, like literal mongols interpreting it in a literal level when that is not what it's about.

>no pussy shot

just fuck my shit up

there wasn't a Westworld book.

It began as a movie written and directed by Michael Crichton.

There was a sequel called Futureworld. It was eh.

how long do you get to stay in the park for? I think i'll get bored from raping and killing after a few days

choose

>there's hundreds of "realdoll" type sites that let you buy celeb dolls already

BRB...

You're forgetting the kids that played with a scorpion in the first ep

>I think i'll get bored from raping and killing after a few days
Hopkins' character says it out loud when he tells about 'they're looking for something, they think other people haven't seen' it's like You the Viewer rewatching a film or TV show for the umpteenth time to find something new about it or relive it again.

Like I've seen Fellowship of the Ring about 15+ times because there's just something about it.

The guns are real but the bullets are smart somehow.. That's why none of the hosts can shoot a human at close range, it's beyond the minimum safe distance for the simunitions

Middle.

Holy shit, I had no idea Crichton directed the original. Why isn't he directing more movies?

I mean, compare that movie to another thriller novelist's directorial debut.

>forgetting the two boys playing with the scorpion in episode 1

>hurr durr
>does the same anyway

>Why isn't he directing more movies?
From what I've heard he's dying to direct more films.

Everything points to this being 30 years after the movie.

Also there was no book you psuedo intellectual elitist fucking retard

>Reveries, already explained.

Who explained it to Maeve? Or to me in that situation? Context is a thing.

>No, you wouldn't.

You know a lot about me. Is that you, Mom?

>There's a lot more to it than that, son.

Up pretty late, ain't you Ma?

>That's just you playing out your sick fantasies. If you had the money you'd make a perfect guest.

Humans can't do that without serious injury, robots needn't worry. Sick or not, I'll bet we see it or something similar before this is over.

>They're not immortal, not even close.

Closer than humans.

Back to bed, Mom!

and you forgot the ones chasing chickens in ep 2

I'm not interpreting it in a literal level since it is very clearly a meta project.

He wrote it and directed it.

And he's been dead for quite some time.

Those, "I read the book lool" retards always pop up.

>off-season /got/ general gets more replies per hour than WW threads
Don't think it's gonna do too well lads ;_;

now that 20% of the dust has settled, which one Cred Forums?

It's only the second episode, and most people don't even know the second episode is out yet.
Hopefully the next few OPs over the weekend will all mention the 2nd ep being released early

I actually did read a paperback copy of the screenplay for the original film back the the day.

Only screenplay I've ever read.

So is this show actually good or is it in "it has potential" status?

It's good, even more so if you watch the original film first

The second one. First episode was extremely good... for a pilot. The second one was pretty good also, but a few reviewers specifically identify the third and fourth episodes as when things go to shit, so we'll see.

>These violent delights have violet ends.

It's a trigger phrase, similar to the one used to put the hosts into sleep mode that's used on Dolores after the mass shooting in town in episode 1 but instead this trigger phrase unlocks higher functions.

>count on it

Systems failing, master.

I kind of think the guns don't actually shoot bullets, and the robots are so well programed and made that they are able to sense the guns shooting at them, and their bodies act accordingly.

did arnold put it there

There was a novelization produced, sorry you never read it, son.

So who is throwing little balls of dust at the guests?

What's this deeper level shit?

The guns...

They shoot projectiles but only hosts are programmed to respond to the damage with the self-damage from the impact/penetration.

TMiB as he's come to be known is using actual real honest to goodness lead bullets and even the open shell he used to fire clean through the rock wall - what, are you telling me even the walls can be programmed to simulate a bullet hit or penetration?

No, kids, it's not that difficult to grasp what's happening, really.

Westworld, but where every host is cunny.

stop being so pretentious, you need the literal level for the metaphorical to work.

>technology to build human-like robots
>let's make them props for a themepark

Realistically, these things could change the fucking world. Automated police, android military, firefighters etc. And they make a goddamn themepark with them.

Because its a fucking tv show.

How the fucking fuck do you know they aren't being used for that you fucking fuck.

> Low calibre bullets

Would still be dangerous in the event of a miss or ricochet.

> from guns that a.) don't fire when aimed at a human,

Except we've seen that the guns do fire at humans, it's the smart bullets that break up in a puff of dust before striking a human but remain a solid projectile that "kills" the robot.

> and b.) don't actually cause any damage to the robots hard skin

Except we've seen all kinda robots with bullet holes in them.

The fuck?! Are you guys even watching the show?

>Automated police, android military, firefighters
they are using the park as a testing ground for developing their intelligence

they are unreliable as they are

Because all the guests proclaim excitement and fear when they encounter the robots.

>Are you real?
>You're thinking how to tell which ones are real or not, right?

Meaning, this is the first time they are encountering these robots, and hence they don't exist in the exterior world.

you have no idea what the worlds like. you can have entire platoons of robocops patrolling the streets

wow user i never thought of that!

I'm suspecting that Bernard is a host but they could just be writing it to lean people towards thinking that. His particular fondness for the micro-expressions on the faces of others, Ford's comment that "I know how that head of yours works..." and other moments so far keep me believing it's a possibility.

Guess we'll see how things work out.

The bullets are simunition, Nolan confirmed this.

Thats kind of the point mate. The robots are actors playing characters, just like actors play characters in any other show.
Its also supposed to have a layer of irony. The robots, are just machines, are seemingly capable of incredible emotional depth and pain. The humans on the other hand appear to be completely devoid of any empathy or kindness.

>Visit Westworld
>Get off the tram
>Get taken into the dressing room
>I can't wait to start my wild west adventure
>Guide tells me she'll do 'anything' I want
>Starts undressing me
>I just want to ride around the old west
>N-no thank you, m'lady
>Finally get into the park
>My douchebag friends just wants to abuse the females, tis a shame.
>Attractive young maiden drops her can
>Rush over, fetch it for her.
>Her smile sends shivers down my spine
>With my trembling hand I hold my fingers to my hat
>As my pathetic member explodes inside my pants, I tip my hat too m'lady.
>I can't believe it, this place really is the wild west.

editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/11-rules-of-westworld-hbos-killer-robot-theme-park-series/

but it is shown that they are affected by it even if it is a performance, because they are not aware that it is

This is literally the most beta thing I've ever heard. Do young men really respect "heroes" like this? The moment he stepped off that train, he should have approached the first robot he saw and grabbed her by the pussy.

Anyone else think the production value dropped dramatically between the first and second episodes?

That would be me 2bh

>The bullets are simunition, Nolan confirmed this.

Hollywood is willfully ignorant when it comes to guns.

If the Westworld guns were anything like Simunition, there would be dozens of tourists getting their eye shot out every day.

Regardless of Nolan says, the bullets have to break up in a puff of dust _before_ striking the human, otherwise they'd be too dangerous.

Even paintball guns require safety goggles.

this is me after I cum to be honest

before I cum im like oh man I just wanna fuck everything but after I cum im more like I just want to go on a nice clean adventure!

This is the best non-fap nude scene I think I've ever seen on HBO with a female character. It's not gratuitous, it's naturalistic and makes the character seem vulnerable instead of sexual.

>the bullets have to break up in a puff of dust _before_ striking the human, otherwise they'd be too dangerous.
From what we've seen with the MiB being shot that seems like what happens
same

they are sci-fi simunitions...

also if they have real guns already what is the point of dolares finding a burried gun? even if it has real bullets probably they are useless

This show is fucking stupid and here is why. Multiple guests at a time makes no sense what so ever.

>Be a guest, about to fuck a whore
>Faggot troll guest kills her
>Enjoying a storyline, wondering where it'll go
>Faggot guest kills the main npc
>Want to ride a horse
>Faggot guest meanwhile is just here for the horse fucking and keeps jerking off my horses.

Also

>Can't tell who is guest
>Rape a real life guest
>All those lawsuits

The only way this would work is if you were the only guest and could basically do whatever the fuck you wanted.

>in the episode they literally have a conversation about how the management have a much bigger plan for this technology
Is this show the new pleb filter?

That's Nolans that have casted her as a man-made sexpot now, she's gonna develop a complex.

You actually think there's no way for Delos to manage griefers?

The bit about raping real guests is valid though, I wonder how they'd handle it

They've had the technology for 30 years at least. Why haven't they done shit with it in the meantime?

This motherfucker better die first wen the time comes.

>people thinking it a virtual matrix world

...

>being racist
>not respecting Thandie Newton

kys

So Delores is going to be ah?

I'm interested in understanding how the host's bullets work.

TMiB is clearly using lead bullets, and his pistol is modified to accommodate a single shotgun shell.

A host clearly shoots something powerful to break the bottle. Also, it was interesting to note that the TMiB visibly flinches when this happens. He never flinches when he is shot/shot at in other scenes.

>Automated police, android military, firefighters
that's why the park is far-west themed so they can test sherif robots.

How the fuck should we know? It's only been two episodes. It's almost like you make up a question and pretend it's an issue.

Nanomachines, son.

Why is the sideho so fucking ugly? I mean I'm not into black women but she isn't so bad, but the main whore? The fuck, she has bug eyes, weird bone structure.

She looks like a person fucked a beetle and she was the off spring.

THE SHOW HAS JUST FUCKING STARTED AND THE REVERIES HAVE JUST BEEN REFINED

FUCK

not ugly, just different

Nobody wants to be policed by a hoover.

probably some jewish producer's daughter or something

Only ugly people say that.

i dont know, i think shes pretty hot

who this

You obviously cannot into exotic model types. Great tits for a skinny bitch too.

>in the first episode they mention how unsophisticated the original models were and how they have only just got them to human levels.
>another character is also against how human they have started becoming
How about you stop looking at your phone and focus on the episode next time.

but there is a worse underlying problem

>Also, it was interesting to note that the TMiB visibly flinches when this happens

Because he can be cut by the glass, more than likely. Guests aren't immune to physical damage overall, but they can't be killed or seriously injured by DIRECT host interaction - doesn't mean he couldn't get himself all cut and shredded from the glass of the bottle as it exploded, however.

and only virgins would call her ugly
seriously though if you think she is ugly you don't know what ugly means

>That subtle female fattie in cold storage
Someone built a fat character, what a retard. I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder

she is not fat
she is gastronomically challenged

shes gorgeous you faggot. probably a fucking cunnyposter getting triggered by a real woman

The physical harm rule is retarded.

>Ghost knocks murderman into a wall
>Murderman catches a lose nail or simply hits his head too hard, dies.
>Even if he doesn't type, the host has inflicted physical harm.

>That orgy scene
>Host slaps and bites the guy, meaning they can do harm if requested.

What they mean to say is "unattractive" or generally not attractive in comparison to other persons. I don't find her attractive, so far I haven't found any female on the show attractive but that's me I suppose, I'm picky in such respects. The actress playing Dolores isn't too bad, just not my particular cup of tea, as the saying goes.

I would give up my left nut for the chance to smell the dried pussy juice stain Evan Rachel Wood would leave on a leather sofa.

>meaning they can do harm if requested.

If you consider a slap or a nipple bite serious injury you really need to branch out more, sonny. There are various degrees and levels of pain from practically nothing at all to serious injury hence there being degrees and levels in the first place.

Besides, all the guests that come to Westworld have releases they sign going in that covers all possible contingencies towards injury or death lest the park not be able to function at all.

>Implying the wealthy would pay big money for dirty wild west sex and simulated murder
>No oil princes coming over to fuck the underage child hosts
>No old money racist whites lynching niggers
>No murderous types that just come in with a shotgun and start killing everyone in sight after getting off the train

Did you miss the psych evaluation in the last episode?

They probably screen out those types and throw them into a jail cell for their thought-crimes. It is the future after all.

>No old money racist whites lynching niggers
>this is the mindset of a libcuck

>They probably screen out those types
The questions were nothing to do with that.

>Hurr do you have depression or are you socially awkward
That isn't a psych evalution, if anything it might just be a way for them to direct affectionate hosts to them, and avoid placing them in leadership roles.

She never asked the guy if he wanted to murderfuck all the babies.

>Even with simunitions, you’ve got to imagine there are plenty of chances for guests to get hurt. Simunitions won’t stop other guests from attacking them, horses from accidentally trampling them, or the guests themselves stumbling off a cliff or impaling themselves on a cactus. Nolan says he imagined clients signing a very comprehensive release form before being admitted to Westworld.
>The episodes reveal that the hosts’ are programmed to look out for the guests, not to just to be a bank robber or a saloon keeper or a lady of the night. If action is putting guests in jeopardy, the hosts will — should anyway — steer the scene back into safety.
>“Part of what the hosts have been designed to do, we have a feature in the program called The Good Samaritan Reflex or Function,” Nolan said. “Wherever they can, the park is populated by hosts and part of their responsibility, part of their subconscious programming is to try to protect the guests in whatever capacity it can. So if you’ve got a drunken guest who’s careening towards a cliff edge, you’re more likely than not to have a host nearby who, without breaking that narrative, is going to find a way to gently steer them back.

...

WHO IS THIS SEMEN DEMON

in any case they have software to recognize environment, so we can assume that they know the amount of harm they can inflict
>they won't push him if there is a loose nail
>they won't break his bones
>a few bruises are fine and manly

>It is the future after all.

Indeed, and it's much further into the future than our present world which a lot of people aren't getting. Their assumptions are "they say TMiB has been going to Westworld for 30 years..." and then mentally doing math that says 2016 - 30 = 1986 for the original story (which actually was released in 1973 looking forward) or something similar and so on and they'd be wrong.

While that's all wrong and there's no direct stating of any actual dates, it's safe to assume based on the technology being promoted in the original movie would have been something well into the 2000 range in terms of years even though - because it was filmed in 1972-1973 - it looks like some cheesy old western flick gone awry (including Medieval and Roman world as well).

I'd hazard to guess things are taking place towards the middle to last quarter of this century (2050-2080 or something around that point.

Well maybe they should express those things in the show and not through interviews. Shit tier writing desu (Too be honest).

well we are only two episodes in, it's not like they've had time to explain everything yet

If they have to explain or tell you fucking ahead of time then there's no potential for suspension of disbelief, you moron.

I bet you're a blast at parties.

>mfw a friend visits Westworld and won't shut up about fucking some dirty niggeress in a whore house
Why do normies love Westworld so much? Place is retarded, it doesn't have the magic or Fantasyland or the exotic alien fucking of Space Station 69.

you are filthy rich and bored so you have to choose one of the following worlds
>west
>roman
>future
>primal
>east

Which one has the best cunny?

roman and east

>furry
>game of thrones
>cyberpunk
>steampunk
>jail
>russia

what is the deeper level and why am I supposed to care for it?

ITT morons who haven't read the Delos terms or been to the official website.

They pay billions?

if it's a simulation how do they make sure no one gets hurt?

What if a guest shoots another guest?
Do the guns shoot anything at all?
Hosts can fight guests, can the strangle them?
What if a guest falls off a cliff?
