Presumably all guns are designed with some sort of safety munitions that disintegrate before hitting a live target. Otherwise you would have guests accidentally shooting each other every day.
As for knives, I honestly can't think how they avoid those deaths. Perhaps there are extensive safety briefings that explain what they can and can't do. The best solution is to ban the use of knives and encourage them to use the safety guns. If a guest uses a knife, they will be fully liable for any lives that they take. The man in black is in exception as he is not an ordinary guest and we have to wait to find out more information about him.
I completely agree about the WoW comparison. It would be impossible to enjoy the narratives because some faggot would just go around killing all of the characters. The resets are dependent on each storyline. The hosts are reset individually. They react and adjust to story changes like when hosts die for example, which we have already seen multiple times. Delores/Teddy is a short story, only one day, others may be longer like when the MiB kidnapped the dude he scalped. He kept him overnight.

There's one week between episodes so why not one week reset period

I imagine the bullets themselves are much lower speed projectiles made of a material that's harmless to humans but reacts with whatever the hosts are made of.

In the show it appears as though its just the same day. However we definitely hear one guy mention that he went full villain for two weeks. They also brought the saloon heist forward by one week. According to the website, each narrative loop lasts 28 days, after which all of the guests are required to leave. The show doesn't do a very good job of conveying this but the details are definitely there.
Perhaps the McPoyle was exaggerating when she said that there was no orientation or she just meant that they weren't told how they should experience the park. I can't imagine that they wouldn't give them at least 20 minutes safety brief.

I wasn’t impressed. A lot of stuff about the park itself doesn’t make sense, and things don’t seem to be designed to meet any actual goal other than “be evil so we can moralize about it”. Like, there is literally no reason for the “hosts” to be sapient and self-aware, but unaware they are in a simulation and having their memories reset. There is nothing useful about that setup that isn’t also emulated in a much easier and much less evil option, either “they are not self-aware” or “they are self-aware but know what the circumstances of their job are because they are robots and robots are perfect actors”.

I sense a lot of heavy-handed moralizing in the show’s future.

The guns are specially manufactured, so they can behave however the show decides. They either change projectiles based on target, shooting only harmless little tiddlywinks when aimed at people, or they shoot blanks and there are squibs on the synths. Blanks can still kill when pointed at the head, so maybe bots have a directive against that, or maybe that synth really was just shitting his pants in horror and was a generally feeble sort.

I do think some kind of projectile switch is happening though because of MiB getting hit with something. Maybe it's raycasting and determining target in the blink of an eye that looks instantaneous to us but is some kind of advanced future tech. Point is you dont know faggot.
