Hitler was desperate for peace with Britain even after the battle of Britain started and explicitly ordered that civilian bombing not take place. Churchill refused to hear peace terms.
WW2 was a completely optional war for Britain that did nothing but hand half of Europe to the Russians and destroy the Empire.
The Russians were the true enemy and we helped them win.

Hitler had zero interest in invading Britain until we declared war on Germany. One of his quotes at the time was "Germany will rule Europe and Britain the world outside". He had massive respect for the British, especially after having fought the British army in the Great War.
As a Briton I would have preferred that Britain ally with Germany, adopt National Socialism, and purge the continent of (((merchant banker))) influence.
