Is Vikings actually good?

Need a new show.

P I R A T E S

(seriously though its great)

no its generic and tryhard

Yes but if you're a pagan wannabe you might not like it

It's okay, very simplistic story but the characters are fun

It's incredibly good.
One of the best show i have ever seen and im not joking.

Black Sails all the way! Keeps getting better with each season.

I'll piggyback off this thread to ask:
Is The Last Kingdom worth watching?

The Last Kingdom. It's set like 50 years after Vikings and the Danish are conquering England. It's not a direct tie in but most of the kids and babies from Vikings are in it as adults. Aethelstan's son is one of the main characters.

enjoyable for the first season, gets boring after that

if you can get past the annoying English slag in the first 7 episodes that in reality would of been executed for her bs

If you like Vikings you'll probably like it. The main character's an English (Saxon?) kid who was kidnapped and raised by vikings so he's kinda stuck inbetween the two factions.

I watched the first 2 or 3 episodes of Vikings and didn't like it. To be honest I'm mostly just looking for a GoT ripoff to tide me over til Shitposting Season resumes.

...

I've only seen season 1 and 2, but this is a quality show.

plebs

Not sure if this is what you're looking for but "Rome" is the best historical series to date.

yes
deadwood is also good, too

this. Rome was epic and very very well acted.

Marco Polo Its about the Mongols

Seconding this, apart from some armors its historically accurate...ish

Spartacus (including Gods of The Arena prequel season)

Some here may laugh, but seriously, it's semi-historical, like Vikings and is a very good show. It's NOT just tits and ass like many say. There's serious drama going on, great scheming, strong characters, great acting and plenty of action.

The first 4 episodes of the series are the worst (the first being so awful I nearly quit right then and there). It just gets better from there and when it ends, it ends on a strong note. Not drawn out. Not rushed. It's a quality show all around.

The finale of the first season left me erect for days to come.

Shame what happened to the main actor

>It's NOT just tits and ass like many say.

Indeed. There are many cocks as well.

Spartacus is miles ahead of GoT

>better main characters
>better villains
>better big guys
>better hot bitches
>Spartacus doesn't go all soap opera with 5 minutes of each storyline and throwing in 10 storylines into one episode
>shit actually happens
>fight scenes are superior than "stand still, hit my sword then let me react."

Merlin

This features heavy magic and fantasy. So it's only similar to Vikings by means of the 'age'. The weapons, setting and what not.
It's also aimed at a younger audience and uses lots of comedy. Typical BBC show.

Ending is terrible and almost ruined the journey.

But on average, the show delivers strong performances from the cast and the occasional gem of an episode. Season 2 is probably the best. But all seasons are strong overall.

To this day, I hail that finale as one of the greatest things ever witnessed on television and I've watched lots.

Spoilers >>That leap with the sun backdrop. That shout of 'Kill Them All!" and watching them charge forth to do what you've been waiting for the entire season...better than porn.

I get that same rush every time I rewatch it too.

Kublai Khan's a better character than anyone in Vikings.

Indeed. You might get offended or suddenly feel small too.

h-hey..!

[spoileri kinda got sad at my dick at the episode about the new recruit trying to kill Spartacus :(][/spoiler]

Not recommended. You want to enjoy it but it devolves into a drama mainly involving lesbian and gay relationships. Could have been good if they cut that shit down at least 75% and added other content.

Max is cancer, Eleanors crap also, they bring the show down but don't ruin it completely. Except for Vane turning into a little bitch wherever Eleanor's concerned.

good, starts going to shit in s3/s4

Last Kingdom has the most hype season finale. It's more realistic and more down to earth than GoT or Vikings. King Alfred is a good character and the fight scenes are great, possibly better than Vikings.

The Bastard Executioner

its pretty shit but it should be fine if you enjoy Vikings

Thirded. It was really good.

the last kingdom is alright. acting is a bit stiff though, still worth watching.

the next season of vikings is going to cover the same era with all the king alfred stuff.

You watch it just to hear all weird-ass names.

Fucc off lol, GoT is literal plebbit trash while Vikings is WHITE and REDPILLED

Do you know any other shows about germanics?

As in actual high quality dedicated triple A productions? No man but i wish i did, it would have been dank if there was a HBO rome spinoff set in germania or something

it's not surprising tho because jews always villify and demonize germanics so they have no interest in portraying them in any series

if you dont want lagertha to publicly castrate you with a dull knife, then you don't know SHIT about television or film

I hope Ragnar anally rapes her and puts her in her place again soon

I remember I saw this on Netflix one day while I was looking for something to play in the background while I Binding of Isaac'ed. I had never heard of it.

I remember having it on and just barely following along thinking how shitty it was. The terrible CGI, lots of cringey trihard shit. But I left it on because gore and nudity makes for good background.

Before I knew it, I had put down BoI, and was invested. I remember saying to myself "when the fuck did this show become good?"

tl;dr make it through the slog that is the first half of the first season. The rest of it is so fucking worth it.

Also, the effects get better after the first season.
