>attempting to live on minimum wage
>driving a car

I like American Dad but there are some episodes where you can tell are from that "guize we're totes not liberals but #fuck republicans and #fuck bush's economy" era

Their point is fucking stupid to begin with because Stan is a moron, unless they're saying all poor people are morons too

Minimum wage is perfectly livable if your standards are not in the sky.

>mfw my mom raised me and my sister on minimum wage and still saved enough to send me to community college and we always had plenty to eat, a house, and video games

People who are bad with money deserve to starve or whatever.

Did your mom work more than one job? Because if your answer is anything other than yes, your mom was probably blowing guys for $20 a pop

ayy lmao

where did you live is the important answer

Did she own the home? That is the biggest part of living fine with a low amount of money. Did she get housing from the government?

>if your standards are not in the sky
Now I wait with baited breath for you to enumerate what having "sky high standards" means

>you want to afford living somewhere besides a 4 bedroom apartment with 5 roommates?
>spoiled entitled millennial trash!

>wait with baited breath

>it's an user didnt realize his mom was a prostitute episode

oldie but goodie

New Hampshire. In a cottage my grandfather had built for $5000 in 1957. We lived with them until they passed away and she inherited the house.

You can live on minimum wage. Not as comfortable as living off of NEETbux at mommy's house but doable.

Lol faggot minimum wage isn't for you.

It's for the city dwelling wage slaves.

>dude
>my mom never had to pay for housing besides (probably dirt cheap) property taxes
>why are poor people so stupid and dont know how to inherit stuff like me
>lmao

Wow you really got the 'ol brain cells firing

Not my fault they have irresponsible parents.

Absurd, your mom seemed to be pretty irresponsible to raise a shithead like you

>Not my fault they couldn't inherit stuff like I did

The solipsism in your posts is strong.

>dude its easy to live off minimum wage lmao
>just tell your parents to leave you the house when they die

its not theirs, either
also your mum was blowing dudes sorry m8

Do Americans have some cultural practice where they must demonstrate more ignorance than the person before them?

>what is sustainable living

If your parents were stupid enough not to do anything for their future children and secure them a good life, then they are stupid, yes.

So you're not actually making an argument, then, you're just laughing at the extremely destitute.

Well hey, my grandfather worked his ass off to get this house. Not my fault their parents didn't love them enough to do the same.

>1776 get
Yes.

>what is solipsism
>what is shifting the goalposts

You started out from "dude you should be able to afford living on minimum wage lmao" to "dude you should be able to afford living on minimum wage if your family left you their summer cottage in the chesapeake bay lmao"

Sure, but the point is that you can't really support a family or even live independently on minimum wage without relying on government benefits.

Didn't say it is.

I'm saying that your solipsism has caused you to shift the goalposts all the way from your original starting point of
>dude minimum wage is enough to live on lmao
to
>dude why can't these proles just inherit stuff like I did lmao

The point is minimum wage wouldn't be a problem if your parents weren't retarded and spent all their hard earned minimum wage on alcohol.

>spent all their hard earned minimum wage on alcohol
Wow you're projecting hard. I know you said you grew up with a minimum-wage-earning single mother, but not all of us are white trash that relied on handouts from grandma and grandpa

Your mom was a prostitute, sorry to break this to you

So if your parents were morons, you deserve to suffer and be stuck in poverty for the rest of your life?

Do you believe that should be the case for orphans, people from single-parent households, or people whose parents developed an expensive to treat and crippling disease?

Those stupid libtards should've chosen better parents before they were conceived like I did

Did you know rats take care of and feed other rats who are too sick or old to find their own food?

How does it feel to have less empathy than a rat?

You can live on min wage as long as you don't live in an expensive city like London or San Francisco. And if you're single. And if you pirate all your media.

He has a nice house, two cars and a medium sized family of course he can't fucking live on minimum wage.

The funny thing is this episode does make people think and engage in conversation, like we're doing here. Another episode that got me thinking was the Simpsons episode with Homer's brother. Really makes you think about how an obsession with something in your personal life can ruin a promising career.

And if you inherit a $5000 cottage from your alcoholic single mom

A $5000 dollar cottage built in the late 50's could be worth 100-200 thousand dollars depending on the location if it's been reasonably well maintained.

>And if you're single
Wrong

You need two people, one pays the rent, the other covers other expenses

Living alone on minimum wage is impossible.
I live in Eastern europe, rent is 250 dollars a month for a dogshit apartment and minimum wage is 300 dollars

>dude
>its super totes ez to live on minimum wage
>just tell your gramps to leave you a $150k cottage when he dies
>lmao

So basically minimum wage is only livable once you wait like a vulture for your family to die so you can take their properties/housing

its too bad adult protective services is probably taking away my grandparents home, or else I'd be inheriting two properties once they and my parents die

I had male and female pet rats who mated and their kids literally ate the father when they hatched.

that a lot of cheese

>I live in Eastern europe, rent is 250 dollars a month for a dogshit apartment and minimum wage is 300 dollars
I think the only place in the USA you can rent an apartment for $250/mo is in somewhere like Detroit or Chicago unless you want to live on the border like me.

And even then you're renting something like a 150-200sqft hole in the wall where the kitchen and bedroom are all one room and the bathroom is a "community bathroom" down the hall

Too bad I have a large family that's not particularly wealthy, I'm not inheriting shit from my grandparents.

>So basically minimum wage is only livable once your parents take responsibility for their children and ensure them a good future

ftfy

Is your mom still available for work if you catch my meaning?

what if your mom dies in childbirth and your dad dies of cancer

>dude
>why didn't you choose better parents to be born to before you were conceived like I did
>lmao

You should have chosen better parents who chose better parents, like user did

Tough luck

>when they hatched
>rats
what did he mean by this

This episode was like Cathy Come Home, yes it's difficult but they evoke a reaction by having every possible bad thing happen to a single person all at one, which would never happen.

It's designed to shock, not to illustrate or educate.

You know The Prince was a satirical work, right?

>implying a child of a single mother is capable of being not mentally ill

Darwinism.

I'm a mentally ill child of a single mother too, this guy is just an idiot.

Why do people choose minimum wage jobs?
Why not get at least a $10+/hr job?

>get shot by gang niggers in a state where CCW is illegal
>>well I guess that's just darwinism, those niggers with hi-points are more fit to survive than I am

really made me think

I would say most American Dad eps involve a situation somewhere between extremely improbable and literally impossible.

>Doctors couldn't cure your quadriplegic paralysis because of a bullet lodged in spine, another bullet knocked it free, you're instantly cured
>all the impossible CIA tech like cloning, time travel
>literal appearances from Jesus
>Roger disguises

Come to think of it, the only episode that seems plausible I can think of is the Spa / Baldness episode

Why do people choose a job with a fixed wage at all?
Why not become a self-employed shiftworker and just pay yourself 10-50$/hr or more if you feel like it?

>his minimum wage is under $10
lol faggot

There's basically not such a thing as an entry-level position for $10 USD an hour. Management at most fast food places makes less.

Jobs that pay that much right off the bat either require an education/trade or are fairly dangerous.

What I really don't get is why people don't work hard and become millionaires.

>You know The Prince was a satirical work, right?
Actually this is one of the most controversial conclusions in historical literature and it is hotly debated to this day. I've had two tenured professors with doctorates in history give me opposite answers about this.

>There's basically not such a thing as an entry-level position for $10 USD an hour

No skills. General lack of intelligence. No internal motivation.

>Making poor people's lives better? Shit, when I'm rich I don't want uppity poor people, and I'll never be poor, so no

>live on less than $5k a year
>own 3 houses over 100 acres of land and 2 vehicles
>get dozens of government kickbacks for poor people

gib me ur taxes, plz, thx

Sucks living in San Francisco. Minimum wage here just hit 13 bucks an hour, but it's still impossible to live on.

It's backhanded at best.

Unless you live somewhere where $10 is proportionally equivalent to minimum or less, like LA, NYC, or San Diego, I'll stand by that statement. You either need and education or are working a dangerous job.

>Universities and CCs will hire secretaries and clerks who only have a high school education at ~$14/hr
Why would you work at McD's unless you didn't have a GED?

Now granted I'm not sure it's like this everywhere but I'm guessing Texas isn't exactly a "leader" in education even if the illiterate immigrants drag our state averages down.

How much do you get paid for quoting text and posting overused, condescending reaction faces without answering the question?

I always see you work overtime on the entire site

My dad raised us on minimum wage in the bay area of California. He'd work 60 to 70 hours weeks, I never really got to know him that well. But he gave us the opportunity to do good and now we're all well off because of him. Love you dad

Man this episode really bugged me. Living on minimum wage is hard, I get it, but all the things stacked in the episode were so heavy handed.

First, the couple got $900ish dollars between them. That's less than one person working 40 hours minimum wage would get a month. Second, it assumes only one person is working? Why? If Stan and Francine both worked, they'd have a bit over $2000 a month. Not great, but livable.

And then, if the moral was about how hard it is to live on low wages, it is totally undercut by Stan buying retarded expensive stuff way above his means. Fucking duh, buying above your means will fuck you over no matter how much you make.

Overall this feels like a throwback to be shitty overly political episodes in season 1.

Not everybody can get one right out the gate. But yeah, minimum wage jobs are stopgaps, not permanant fixtures. And even if somebody pursues a job in a minimum wage tier profession, they should eventually at least be getting raises. I currently stopped working a real job to go back to college, and within a week found a lolfoodservice job that pays $9 an hour. It isn't hard if you can present yourself with some professionalism.

Raising minimum wage isn't about helping poor people, it's about helping big businesses put small businesses out of business.

>that image

>dude just never see your kids at all lmao
>now go back to the factory, my third yacht ain't gonna buy itself

If we pay everyone £100/hour, no one will ever be poor

More than you get paid for at your low paying job while you cry that the man is keeping you from getting a proper job.

Yes you can, Stan just made retarded decisions. Also, a single person can survive on it; obviously both Francine and Stan couldn't together.

>Moonbeam was canceled for that dindu basketball show

I've never had a reason to post the Big Lebowski "That's like your opinion man" image before so I don't even have it saved.

There's no scholarly consensus on the matter, it's disingenuous to imply otherwise.

If you were correct, then we'd still need basic income. Either way, something's got to give.

Poor small businesses

Does paying taxes also hurt you? Paying your workers health insurance and pension?

Yes and yes.

I voted no on basic income, because I dont want other people just laze off all day and still get paid

>the part where the homeless guy starts playing Pictionary with his own blood

My sides.

what happens when there aren't enough jobs left, which is inevitable within our lifetimes.

Not enough jobs = too many people

Population control

Okay then, we start with you

I have a job though

Not for long.

Meanwhile at the Simpsons

youtu.be/51nnY0P46no

the point is that you probably won't soon, moron

>the robots are taking muh jerb

The answer would be to start your own business but thanks to increasing minimum wage that's too expensive for most people now.

>never had to pay for housing besides (probably dirt cheap) property taxes
Are you 12? No seriously, this isn't ironic or anything. Are you 12? Do you really think owning your own house has no other expenses than property tax? Are you absolutely retarded?

>THE FREE MARKET WILL FIX IT

Communism is the only solution to the problems we face today.

why would minimum wage matter? Just hire those robots and pay them nothing

>THEY EXPECT ME TO *PAY* MY SLAVES GODDANG THIS COUNTRY WENT DOWN THE SHITTER

THAT'S SLAVERY YOU FUCKING BIOLOGIST!!

>4 bedrooms with 5 roommates
I wish I could get that deal on minimum wage. Shit I can barely find a 1 bed room apartment for 3 people

depends where you live, it's pretty difficult to live on minimum wage in places with expensive real estate like Sydney for example.

>its Cred Forums gets baited by a thinly veiled Cred Forums thread again episode
it was funny the first few times but now its just sad

Yeah it's absolutely politically incorrect to discuss wages.

>Alcoholic single prostitute mom
FTFY

I knew it was meant to be bait but it's still makes for a better thread than most of the discussion on this board

>Chicago
>$250
You can go to englewood, the most ghetto area in Chicago, and rent is minimum $750. Buying is a different story same neighborhood you can buy an apartment complex for 30K but it's super shit. Like unfinished

It would if it was given a chance.

The robots are a large initial investment that are cheaper to operator than paying a person to do the job. Only big businesses can really afford them. If there was no minimum wage, the robots wouldn't pose as much of a problem. They're still drive the value of a worker down, but without putting them completely out of work.

Better than not working at all. And those "slaves" would be able to start their own businesses one day, or inherit a family business, etc.

When I was working for minimum wage at a pharmacy, I just stole morphine and methadone and sold it to rich kids

Exploit my labour and get your shit took, feels good man

risking prison to make an extra 2 hundred bucks a month? you should write a book.

Sometimes, it's literally all that's available.

Take my story as an example.
>go to college
>get AAS and BA
>every entry-level (which is SUPPOSED to be experience not needed) job related to the field wants someone with a minimum of 5 years working in the field already
>can't afford to work for free and actually live so interning is not an option
>finally find a job that will take me
>it's part time, minimum wage

>look up how to get SSI benefits because actual, doctor-diagnosed autistic

>find out that because Dad makes too much money, I can't get supplemental income to survive on my own

I make, after taxes, 100 bucks a week, and that's rounding up.

>Being a wage slave

>american minimum wage

Literally 3rd world country salary

>Implying the capitalist system of work isn't a prison

You should do stand up

Yeah. That totally happened.

Why do you keep using the word "solipsism" when you clearly have no idea what it means?

opposed to what? you got a hankering for the fall of civilization or something? youd rather communism or socialism and have them tell you what you can be, when, and for how long? i mean if youre trying to be funny fine, youre an idiot but at least youre just joking. but if youre trying to imply your smart with that comment you should reevaluate your values. capitalism is nothing like a prison. LIFE is a prison. youre forced to work in some form or another to sustain life through eating. and in the meantime youre going to desire shelter. the fact that we've got capitalism is just a facilitator for the work that you have no choice but to do, because youre alive. go live in korea where every time kim jung farts you have to laugh or be thrown in jail. go live in china where they pick your career for you based on the grades you get in first grade.

>Worked at Panera Bread for 10.00 after all my raises
>Put myself through community college while renting a room in the cheapest complex in town for $650
>Able to spend 30 dollars per week on either food or entertainment after paying for college / car / rent
>Worked 50+ hours a week and 15credit hours
>Didn't qualify for food stamps because I made 1.50 over min wage
>Got two year in 4 years degree because literally no money

Dude its so easy lmao

Oh

I assumed prices were low for rent there because of crime and "cultural enrichment". Here in the borderland I can find an "apartment" consisting of a combined kitchen + bedroom and maybe a bathroom for ~$3-400/mo

>car

bullshit.

>choosing to spend money on entertainment

The fuck is wrong with you?

>a throwback to be shitty overly political episodes in season 1.

seth does occasionally show up to work

>Sell drugs to build up fund in community college while working shitty minimum wage job to pay rent
>Become trafficker around the state for $800 a trip
>Save up 60,000 in cash in 6 months even with liberal spending
>Always wanted to be a teacher
>Teaching salary starts at 45,000 a year

This is why we're all retarded

How would communism or socialism be "the fall of civilization"? Sure, it would suck, but everything would be very orderly and efficient.

$60 a week on gas and 80 a month on insurance

I count alcohol and dates as entertainment

>mfw my mom raised me and my sister on minimum wage and still saved enough to send me to community college and we always had plenty to eat, a house, and video games

Your mom was sucking dick, user.

>tfw neet with autism bucks

Feels good man.

I was anticipating the alcohol. It sounds ghetto as fuck but you've never considered brewing your own? If you do it right it'll even impress the sluts. also I think (don't quote me on this) it's not illegal to distill your own spirits/liquor as long as you don't sell it

>$60 a week on gas $80/mo on insurance
I hope for your sake you have a savings account or a credit card for when it breaks down

>t. poorfag """intellectual"""

Just work hard, save up, and buy better parents.

Fuck, what's wrong with people?

>It's fine as long as you're literally a criminal

No wonder prisons are full of poor people.

i admit i exaggerated that part but in a way it is a loss of freedom. and i dont say that lightly cuz i hate the free dumb america meme but it is true that you can achieve moderate success in this country. theres still a glass ceiling of the billionaire class that would take generations to crack but that ceiling is much much lower (or higher depending on how you interpret the metaphor) in other countries.

no i know its feasible to own a car. but how'd he get it to begin with. it would take 20 years to save up for a car while supporting yourself on minimum wage. that implies he had it to begin with which means he had help from his family. i guess that isnt against any rules it just stood out to me considering we're looking at the bare bones scenario in this thread.

>what is greed and corruption

user, did you perhaps have a lot of uncles coming by at all hours of the night?

thats pathetic as fuck dude. not bragging but im on neet bucks right now, and i just got a job this week.

>can't get autismbux
>can't get a job

haha just kill myself am I right fellow anonymous posters

>saw ads for the show
>looked cool
>didnt bother to watch it
>turn on tv
>low hanging ghetto nigga fruit the show comes on
>animation made my eyes bleed

I feel responsible. If only they went to netflix.

>pirating media
>prison

There are actually bootlickers on here who'll defend their employer's right to not give them any paid annual leave

>Americucks

>what is something that already exists within civilization, always has, and always will

I work at petsmart, no experience with pets, hardly any previous job experience at all, $10 an hour entry level work

And I get to hang out with doggos all day

t-thats communism

CTR liberal reddit nu-male shill

why cant you get a job?

and you can totally get neet bucks but im not gonna tell you how to do it.

>Be poor
>Pirate
>Get fined
>Don't pay because poor
>Go to prison
>Fined for going to prison
>Charged for prison services
>Come out in debt
>Don't pay debt because poor
>Back to prison

I change my own oil and tires and shit. It'll eventually break down but I can fix anything electrical as long I don't need a new part

I bought it when I was 16 from an estate sale for $1000 that I had saved up from working at a cracker barrel. It's an 02 toyota avalon. So I guess parent help if you take into account I didn't pay rent in high school

That's exactly the point. Thus, under communism "everything" would not be "very orderly and efficient".

>paid leave

Never understood this

Because I have a shit work history and a 4 year employment gap in my resume-ay

Also I cant get NEETbux because I'm sure if I fake whatever I need to so I can get them they'll take away muh guns

what country do you live in? romania?

You're missing the point. It wouldn't be the "fall of civilization" when civilization has always had greed and corruption. Don't just jump into the middle of a conversation when you have no idea what's going on.

If we cuck ourselves hard enough for employers we'll get rich.

It doesn't make sense if you actually make money and can afford a vacation, which is ironic because the people who actually need it are the people that would go broke without a weekly paycheck

>you cant live on min wage

i live on min wage i even have money to blow and or loan to others its called having a roomate who splits the bills

go to bed roger

>Being cucked this hard

There's always that extra thing to help you out, isn't there?

fair enough.

kek. i have a 9 year employment gap on my work history. still got the job. but to be fair i had help.

and even though i think youre a shit head for owning guns. i gotta say they never asked me if i owned firearms when i applied. they didnt send anyone to my house to inspect my situation either.

Y-y-you're just lazy. I don't need upward mobility.

What illness did you fake to get NEETbux?

>your a shithead for owning guns

I live in coyote and mountain lion cunt-ree

>literally the only way its possible.

without a roommate that shit is virtually not do able.

>WE CAN'T RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE BECAUSE THEN OUR SOLDIERS AND FIREMEN WILL MAKE LESS THAN FRY COOKS

>Mfw people finally realize the armed forces is a shit job for shit pay and the government doesn't care about them and all they're doing by keeping wages low is enforcing a crab mentality where no one in the country does well

so? whats wrong with having a roomate? as long as you stay out of each others hair

>There are actually non one-percenters who cling to the Capitalist system

Let's just hope you don't land on a chance, and go bankrupt after your insurance refuses to pay out for a certain cancer medication

Other people are energy draining cunts.

So long as you're homeless and don't drive a car it's highly possible to survive on minimum wage.

didnt fake it. but im not so retarded that i ever needed to be hospitalized or anything. the diagnosis is schizophrenic. but they came to that conclusion just based on a few conversations. i kinda feel like it has a lot to do with what doctor you deal with. some of them are probably serious about their job but mine is lax as fuck.

and in regards to the guns do you have them on you at all times in case of this impending wild animal assault? and on an unrelated but kinda related note dont go shooting up any kindergartens. ...then again, do it, i wouldnt mind some interesting news.

no we cant raise the min wage because that would horribly damage small business

>he wants the government to be able to trell him what he can and cant have

>oh no you cant have the expensive fast computer the slow shitty one is good enough

didnt say it was a bad thing i just meant thats literally the only way its possible.

>didn't fake a diagnosis for his NEETbux
I need someone who did

Americans loves being wage enslaved and Germans enjoys living in a rape-filled warzone. It makes no sense, but that's the way it is.

>McDonalds set to make 5 billion in profit this year

B-b-but if you raise minimum wage we'll have to cut jobs!!!

>oh no you can't have the expensive chemotherapy cocktail the morphine is good enough

Who made this image?

>le small business meme
>Implying the country isn't already lost to corporate interests and small business isn't already a terrible idea for anything other than casinos and industrial work

>get AAS and BA
I already know your issue is where you live and you probably never sent a resume out of state.

If people on minimum wage get food stamps then we're just subsidizing businesses.

You aren't supposed to support a family on minimum wage you retard

>his minimum wage isn't 10

The cost of rent in NJ is atrocious. Is there a worse place to live price-wise?

Fucking waste

I don't know, on one hand he's saying that you can't live on the minimum wage. But on the other hand his character is basically "stupid guy" it's not like it means anything.

Cross your nearest bridge and go past whatever city it's attached to. Jersey blows if you don't already have decent income.

Nigga i work at at walmart for two months at the most and i make eleven dollars an hour

Hayley doesn't work and Jeff surely spends whatever he makes on weed and magic bean-like items the weed makes him think are worthwhile.

you guys are full of shit. i live in canada, which is a much more socially equitable place than the usa, and living on min wage here is nearly impossible. you can survive, yea, but not live. you will eat cheap, shit food. you will travel more than an hour to go to your shitty job. you won't be able to afford to get your teeth fixed, and god forbid you fall ill. you will never be able to get through uni to get that "high paying job" unless you take drugs to help you cope with constant mental exhaustion and tiredness.

>people argue to get rid of minimum wage
>dude it supply and demand. Why would you work at a place that pays less than the one down the road?

You're LITERALLY being paid the lowest legal amount. The job you work for wants to pay you less but can't. How Fucking dense can you j be.

it really is fucking hell, my sister moved to PA this year and the rest of us (parents and i) probably will too soon

>live in New Zealand
>$20 and hour job
>work 3 days a week
>nice apartment on a hill overlooking the city
>can afford enough weed to keep myself stoned 24/7
>everything is a 10min walk away so no need for a car

Feels good being a kiwi desu senpai

damn it feels good to be a kiwi

How many people did you call Dad user?

My mom wasn't sucking dick dude.

Seattle

how many "uncles" or friends did she bring over

A real gangsta ass kiwi plays his cards right

ur mom was a ho top kek :D

Whole lot of "Santas" in that house if you know what I'm saying.

>it's an user finds our his mom was a hooker episode

bruh....I've got news

>So basically minimum wage is only livable once your parents take responsibility for their children and ensure them a good future
so basically natural selection in action

stupid parents = stupid offspring

>It's an "user learns the hard way that his mother was whoring his little sister for food and videogames" episode

>the hard way
that was his mom again

Moonbeam and chamberlain heights are both shit

>implying the minimum wage is meant to be a living wage
>implying the minimum wage should be a living wage

chamberlain heights has its moments.

not because its legitimately good. but because they made it as a joke. the word legend in the title is a reference to the legacy of south park which has been waning these last few years and the idea is that after seeing chamberlain heights youll appreciate south park a little more. but the cool thing about heights is that that means they make a few jokes that arent overly censored or scripted. i mean dont get me wrong the show is 99% garbage. but little things about it are good. the last episode i saw had the kids chasing after a pair of shoes the whole episode and the shoes were called "shackles". funniest shit ever cuz black people are so into overpriced sneakers that do nothing positive for them. and the whole episode people were trying to rob them. it was really funny. not actually funny but like smart.

>Moonbeam is shit
Nah it was pretty good actually

>You can't survive off of minimum wage
>There are millions of illegal immigrants in this country who work for less than minimum wage
>They are still alive
>They're even sending some of their wages back home

Truly, Hispanics are the most powerful people on earth

>Hispanics
>Not Filipinos

Ur mom stripped for cash

It's doable but it will be a pain in the ass if you don't have someone to share expenses with.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHA
Try a two bedroom apartment with 5 people and give me a call.

fuck off jew

shouldnt you be getting lied to at a trump rally somewhere?

I'm Australian who would rather Hillary win the election.

Are you sure you're allowed to be on this website?

yeah im 19 and a half :^)

did it take a month for your internet to get you to this site? your captchas take a day to load right?

To be fair, W. was the worst president this country has had since AT LEAST Harding

Your mother also probably got twice her income in welfare just for being a single mother of two

If anyone ever finds themselves complaining "fuck liberals, privilege doesn't exist" I present exhibit A: someone who claims minimum wage is sufficient because his mother could afford to pay for food and video games in a house that was quite literally given to her.

>implying you should be paid a living wage to flip burgers, tell people where the cereal aisle is, or to rip ticket-stubs

Fuck off. It's the jews that inserted that idea into your head. The problem isn't that the minimum wage is too low, it's that there's too many unskilled laborers in the market.

why because billionaires arent making enough? its not like they do almost nothing right.

why do you deserve to make more then $10 to stock cases when literally anyone even the elderly and retarded can do it too? You're conflating separate issues.

because they're jobs that need to be done but no one wants to do them

they're essentially paying for your time.

because its work. and not because its some crazy skilled labor but because without people who do it their businesses would totally fail. do you also support illegals driving down wages by working for cheaper. i guess since they do it for cheaper minimum wage workers deserve less?

no dude. if anything most middle class workers who do skilled labor deserve to make the most and ceos and the minimum wage class do the same level of work.

its undeniable that 1 percent takes advantage of everyone else. dont delude yourself. they shouldnt be making billions while anyone no matter what they do cant make a living wage.

why should anyone have more money than they will ever even come close to using while someone who DOES work cant afford basic living amenities.

> it's that there's too many unskilled laborers in the market

that's not the problem at all, it's that unskilled jobs are mostly outsourced to third world countries now.

more people than ever have uni / college degrees in this day and age

>ITT some guys mom was sucking cock around the clock to buy him video games

Why do you need money to go to community college?
either way good for you and your family.

hey get this, if your area is too expensive, go somewhere else. crazy idea, huh

Ahh yes, I'll just move to another state with high unemployment rates, where I don't know anyone, and wont be able to find a job, and then when I come back to Sydney I'll be out thousands of dollars thanks to the stupid idea of going to somewhere with cheap real estate and low employment rates.

Great idea m8ie

>not buying 20 limes

and good luck saving enough money to take that chance anyway

>"small businesses will fail!"

Yet the same people that preach that shit praise free enterprise.

This is what happens when you smoke the mull out of a garden hose.

Food is easy if you just buy budget like Gwyneth Paltrow!

All of this for just $29!!!!

are you retarded? its minimum wage for a reason.. its the fucking minimum for living.

Brooklyn is expensive as fuck and is terrible.

Monterray is probably one of the nicest cities in America, but its expensive as fuck to live there.

>7 limes
>One tomato
>One pepper
>That much cilantro

>There's basically not such a thing as an entry-level position for $10 USD an hour.
minimum wage is $9.75/hr

Add me in the screencap pls

I bet you had a lot of "uncles" who came over too right? Did you ever go to this cottage before your mom "inherited" it?

No one claims there's no such thing as privilege, since then you'd just be denying that seem people are born into better circumstances than others. The contemporary American left tends to give privilege some kind of weird metaphysical meaning though

Living on minimum wage isn't that hard you fucking pussies.

> live with at least 4 roomates, do not spend more than $300 on rent
> Don't spend more than $20 on food a week, split this between rice+tuna+bananas
> Sell blood plasma
> Carpool/public transportation as often as possible
> Work at least 80 hours a week
> Buy everything used: clothes, cookware, everything. Go to thrift stores
> No unnecessary purchases. If its not survival essential, its a waste of money.
> Do not take on any debt no matter what, if you get staph infection fucking deal with it or die
> Worst case scenario get arrested, free room and board

I'm currently looking at like 3 jobs in a news paper that are paying 13-15 starting with no experience.

You jest, but if I didn't have my car payment I could live on minimum wage, 40 hours a week.

>80 hours a week
I'd rather kill myself. In fact I think I will. Bye Cred Forums

So are 500 other, more qualified people in your town

See ya bud

The Wal-mart near me in rural Ohio was hiring cashiers/stockers for $11 an hour. Pharmacy Techs make around $11 an hour and thats a straight out of highschool job.

Idiot, don't ever post again. Actually read The Prince before you open your dumb teenage mouth like that. The comment you replied to has absolutely nothing to do with the work of Machiavelli unless you get all your info through skimming Wikipedia and think he's just some generic "evil" psychopath guy

>So are 500 other, more qualified people in your town
These positions have been open for over 6 months.
And nice job moving the goal posts.

Fuck off kike

I have five years in your field and over a million professionally published words and you aren't getting that job, user. But good luck!

I have 20 years in that field, I bet they won't even let you through the front door.

>implying anyone has experience

HRfags just throw that shit in hoping to get lucky. There are almost never any "qualified" candidates

geez dude youre on the cutting edge with that joke. its only been said 45 times for the last 7 hours before you. but kudos for keeping it so fresh. dont kys or anything.

>$11/hr
Yep.
And, maybe, if you're EXTREMELY lucky, 20 hours a week.

They might get someone who can spell newspaper as one word, though. I mean, that's probably not setting the bar too high.

>Living on minimum wage

Literally impossible.
I make minimum wage, and I have a roommate who also makes minimum wage, AND we get state benefits in the form of food assistance, and we BARELY scrape enough together.

Where do you live?

>you can't live only on sugar and donuts so let's ban sugar and donuts

debate this

>Pharmacy Techs make around $11 an hour and thats a straight out of highschool job.

Not really. It requires national and state licensing, and forget about finding a job if you didn't do an unpaid externship.

>food analogy

wrong again bucko, 35+ hours a week. I mean fuck, I worked as a pharm tech while in college making 11.35 an hour and only 20-30 hours a week. Not only was I able to cover my expenses, I was able to graduate with minimal debt and enough money to move myself to a new state for my current job. This shit isn't hard if you accept the fact that you'll have to be and live poor for awhile

I think that was the point.

Vancouver WA, which is about ten miles north of Portland OR, in the US.

Honestly, the problem isn't even really the minimum wage by itself. We probably could get by more or less fine if our hours were in any way standardized, but they're not. Neither of us gets more than 30 hours a week.

>irrefutable logic is somehow wrong because of the vehicle

well the analogy is wrong.
Hell No ones saying you should ban the minimum wage.

Yes really, and any chain pharmacy will not only cover classes, but also the licensing exam cost. If you aren't licensed when you start, you'll probably only make min wage, but once you get your license they'll bump you up to the proper wage (usually 2-3 months after you start

That is a bigger problem. Full time minimum wage is tough, but livable, especially if you live somewhere with decent cost of living.

I don't follow.

So how much does Cred Forums get paid?

$18.49 here

People like you are ruining Cred Forums.

>Walmart
>Pay for literally anything for you

What fantasy universe do you live in, and can I move in with you?

>tfw hurts to swallow the past 3 weeks
>no healthcare because work three shitty part time jobs with no benefits
>too afraid to get it checked because can't afford serious health problem

Please just go away pain

the minimum wage is a ban on labor below a certain wage

>You can't live on only water so let's ban water

Americans think this is actually a good system

Not only that, it's also legislating poor people, specifically black poor people, into unemployment.

Yes, of course paying taxes hurts. And paying for health insurance hurts everyone too. Employer provided health insurance became a thing during WWII to get around wage controls imposed by Roosevelt, and it's one of the major reasons that healthcare in this country is so fucked today.

There are actually bootlickers on here who'll defend their that state's right to interfere in a voluntary contract between you and your employer.

>Europoors

Someone has to pay for 95% of the world's medical research.

By having a job?

By being unable to tell which board is which. Maybe try reading more and shitposting less.

85k in Reno NV, programmer

I got an offer for 120k in Palo Alto (Tesla), but between high COL, taxes and shitty traffic I don't think it would be worth it. Can anyone confirm?

The obly thibg I got from this thread:

>Small business owners are greedy evil sociopaths
>If you work 80 hours next to college and dont spend a single cent on anything necessary then min wage is liveable

>We’ll support your development through on-the-job training and interactive learning programs to help you pass national certification exams when needed.

The don't be a lazy NEET expecting everyone to take care you universe apparently since thats posted right on their career page

Hi there, I'd like to buy a strong mandingo to work my fields, you look like the type who knows that sort of thing

I honestly believed obamas plan would fix that shit, not put me in danger of being fined if I don't have coverage.

Anyway, I got a job with my city doing data entry so my insurance is on point. Look in to stuff like that. Even picking up garbage, the benefits are nice.

Also comp time.

>extra minutes add up to hours that add up to days that stack on TOP of annual leave
>can effectively take a month off now after working since January and staying an hour later in an empty office watching porn.

Okay.
No seriously.
user, go to a hospital right the fuck now. I'm not joking with you.
If you tell them you don't have insurance, there are programs that will pay for you, but you shouldn't worry about that right now.

If you've had difficulty swallowing for the past three WEEKS, then that's a sign of a long list of serious, life-threatening ailment that STARTS with infected tonsils/lymph nodes and ends with cancer. Go to a hospital right the fuck now and worry about cash later.

If they're not so stupid why are they poor?

Dont believe this user

If you say you have no insurance, they will force you to be treated by security guards then take away your house on payments

Notice how, at no point in that sentence you just quoted, did they say they'd pay for anything.
Because they don't.
They'll give you an "Orientation" that consists of a video and a quiz.
And then you go to the state department of health and pay for the certification yourself.
The funny part is, I did that, I worked at Walmart, and they didn't even pay for my fucking nametag.

Look into OTC antacid stuff like nexium. Allowing that it's a burning pain. Also get checked out at a free/sliding scale STI clinic, tell them somebody said you've been with had gonorrhea. That way you can get that shit tested and get free/cheap antibiotics as you don't want none of that heart complications from strep.

top kek.
I bet your minimum wage includes flat screen tvs, weed, alcohol, and having lots of children.

I actually went to the Wallgreens pharmacist (poorman's doctor visit) and described how it hurt, and she recommended some over the counter stuff for post-nasal drip. I'll see after a week if it helps but I have my doubts, will bite the bullet and go to an ENT doctor if not. I'm just hoping it's not something like tonsillitis or cancer because I can't afford that shit in the long run.

That's right, vilify the working man, good goy

All poor people secretly have tons of money, they just want more, YOUR money! Hehehhhehe

>Small business owners are greedy evil sociopaths
On one hand I don't want shitty companies like Walmart to run everything, but on the other hand every small business I or any of my friends have ever worked for was run by greedy backstabbing losers who went out of their way to work you over to keep their shit business alive.

At least conglomerates could afford to pay if we guarantee 40 hours and/or raise the minimum wage instead of keeping everyone at the bare minimum with no benefits

And your mom likely got a big heaping check from Uncle Sam too.

Worked as a server at Benihana before I moved up and before tips paychecks for servers were at most $500 every two weeks.

I then moved up to a chef position that was still minimum wage but near 40 to 50 hours a week.

A good paycheck was $900 for two weeks and it was essentially slave labor hours as I got there at 10am and left at 1am.

Cheapest apartments I can find in the most ghetto neighborhoods near my job in Cuckifornia were still $1000 a month. Plus food, household items, insurance, utilities, phone bill, internet, car payment.

>Hurrr move out of your shithole state

It's nearly impossible for someone living paycheck to paycheck to uproot themselves. You can't afford to lose out on the work that you miss moving and you need a guaranteed job already set up for you wherever you go.

>Hurr making payments on a car

I bought electric. They're dirt cheap and the payments I make are less than I'd have to spend in gas in a month.

It's impossible to live off of minimum wage without a fuckton of roommates and government aid.

that's not that much cheese

youtube.com/watch?v=e1w_ykZDAg4

>Hello my name is John Smith and I collapsed in the street please help me

>Fuck off. It's the jews that inserted that idea into your head.

No actually that was FDR. The guy who created the minimum wage as the most important part of the New Deal.

“No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country.” - FDR

Do you fuckers not pay attention in school?

The federal minimum wage would allow a full time worker to earn $15,080 in a year. With federal income tax taken out that leaves $13,283.
Rent in a medium strength city market (not San Francisco or New York but not De Boise either) in a shared 2 bedroom apartment (assuming half the rent paid by each tenant) is approximately $9150 per year.
In a medium suburban market with more roommates it would be cheaper, as cheap as $400/mo in some markets but about $560/mo on average for an annual total of $6720.
In a regular city market you can expect to be left with $4140 for the rest of your annual expenses, from groceries to insurance to electricity to transportation. I also didn't even include state income tax.
If you have a hobby, it won't be easy to afford it. If you have an unexpected expense, you likely won't be able to handle it and it will blow your budget. If you don't squirrel away every additional dollar not demanded of you by living, you're absolutely boned. And even if you do save money every month, if you have a medical issue and can't afford health insurance of the particular required coverage (dental for example is a "luxury" option) then you're screwed anyway.
Basically, minimum wage is absolutely not an acceptable standard of living, and it's not one that's easy to escape.
And to preemptively address those that will explain that programs like food stamps, for example, are available, please consider why you would rather pay for in taxes what CEOs could pay for in salary cuts to themselves, or what you could pay minutely in the costs of goods and services.

lol, my friend stole over 10 grand worth of opiates when he worked at a pharmacy. But we mostly did all of them

I was in exactly the same situation for a long time, except I had my car given to me essentially for free, which still ended up being a shitty arrangement because gas and insurance were still more than I could afford. But I couldn't NOT have a car.

He is not wrong

Min wage is only bad for a select few business owners

The secret is not to go back
Anyone can live on minimum wage

Your standards are too high

Work two jobs

>making just a bit above minimum wage because i'm a lazy fuck with no skills
>no foodstamps or any other help
>$375/month rent for my comfy little studio
>still have money left for bills, food, vidya games
>saving up for a car so I can pay it all in one go
>no debts, stress or worries
Its perfectly possible to live a nice, comfy existence as long as you're not retarded with your money, and you don't live in a major city where they artificially jack up the rent

>he bought a new electric car
>thinks he can talk

Minimum wage is livable. Get good

BUT IM.STUCK IN MUH CITY
>Why
UHHHJ FUCK YOU MIN WAGE IS IMPOSSIBLE I JUST BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR BUT IT'S SO HARD SLAVE LABOR SLAVE LABOR

Why do poor people love to fuck themselves over?

Soeone offers a helping hand or sympathy, and they immediately jump to his throat "MINIMUM WAGE IS LIVABLE, YOU ARE JUST LAZY UNLIKE ME"

If two poor people were locked in a room, they'd maim each other just so it'd be bad for the other

>Just work industrial revolution hours! No one back then had a problem with it, they loved it!

What does this post even mean

Look at the replies to this thread, it's full of people saying how well they can live on minimum wage and anybody who wants more should just die

To be fair if you're at a point in life where you have no safety net (no parents or friends to live with) you should already be making above minimum wage.
Fuck, buy a used Japanese wagon from the 90s and live our of that, or go for an econoline

Youre mom fucked dudes for money

Crab mentality. If I can't do it I don't want you to be able to do it either. If I pretend everything is fine and it would be catastrophic to try and change then I have an excuse to not try to fix anything

You can live well on minimum wage

>mfw I wanted a AD thread

It was 4 years old nearly, barely any miles and 8 grand. Tapped into my savings because it was a smart investment overtime. I'm living at home, quit my job and threw myself full time into school so I can transfer out to a UC and get my degree because having worked like a slave I knew I had to change something.

Even if you buy an old beater in this situation you end up getting fucked in mileage and gas anyway. And public transportation isn't feasible for a great many people.

Minimum wage is literally only livable with roommates. And don't expect to have your own room.

Yeah, chicks dig guys living out of their car

>8 grand
You fucked up

Why should that be acceptable in one of the world's wealthiest countries?
The only people who are protectors of the current minimum wage system are people who "beat it" against the odds and think everyone should prove they're "just as tough/smart/frugal/whatever adjective they most ascribe their success to" or pricks who are just above minimum wage and like seeing people struggle harder than they are, or business owners who like having a low benchmark for unskilled labour.
I worked minimum wage jobs and they fucking sucked. Luckily I make great money now, but I definitely wouldn't be against paying a little bit more for goods and services if it a) improves the standards of living for those in shitty situations and b) saves me a percentage or two on my income taxes.
Seriously, anybody who believes the minimum wage is fine, or worse, that it should be abolished, is just a crab in a bucket with no real concept of economics.

It's been pretty well established that it's borderline unlivable with homelessness around the corner after one major expense

>Dude the economy isn't that bad for poor people just be homeless lol

>W. was the worst president this country has had since AT LEAST Harding
>clinton was a rapist

>and you don't live in a major city where they artificially jack up the rent

I honestly hate people like you who just assume it's easy for anyone to pick up and move out of the place they were raised and move to Bumfuck, Idaho.

If someone is a wagecuck they're literally living paycheck to paycheck. They can't afford the expense of an out of state move and the loss of hours. And there's no guarantee they'll even have a job when they arrive.

You're telling someone who is one step away from being homeless to just say fuck it and risk everything for no security or guarantee.

Who gives a fuck about girls ? Because it's a job a fucking child can do, why should we be paid more
Oh. You're a spoiled brat.
>my poor life decisions put me in a bad position but I don't wanna suffer for a bit to fix it I'll just bitch and hope the wage is lifted

Yeah. That's how it works. You take a risk moron.

Hardly. There's nothing wrong with it, electric cars were just seen as a fad and the aftermarket price drops like a fucking rock.

I think it's largely the inconvenience. They can't go very far at all you're basically stuck in you general neighboring cities.

>I have a luck-of-the-draw statistically outlying situation that just happens to work for me for the time being, that means you can too!

to be honest I'm not sure why everyone is treating being homeless like a bad thing
its really easy to do
t. wagon dweller
honestly seems like people would rather complain like

And then it doesn't work out and you're homeless. You quit your job and left your old house/apartment, not that you have the funds to go back anyway. You have no savings. Nowhere to live so you can't get a job in the new place. And being unable to eat, shower and clean your clothes is just going to make you tank every interview.

You really don't think anything through outside of your comfy easy life do you?

>Breaking your leg walking to work
>Lose job because right to work state
>Medical bills leave you in debt
>SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORE YOU TRIED WALKING FAGGOT

Because many people are not skilled or intelligent or teachable. There are people who have a low learning threshold or a disability and cannot learn to do a lot of things, but they're willing to do their job to the best of their ability, not to just fill in time.
Economically, it's more beneficial to everyone that these sorts of people are able to work to support themselves, and that way their families and the state are not burdened by them, and neither is their employer if they do the job to a certain standard, even if it is an unskilled job.
That's pretty obvious. Any other obvious questions or bad bait arguments?

>being retarded enough to be working minimum wage

Even if you can't afford a decent college a trades job will land you a good pay + decent workplace conditions. Your local electrician/welder's union will give you information for training programs and work.

You are
DEFENDING
poverty.

Listen to yourself
Fucking read back what you just wrote.

You're trying to argue that it's okay and, potentially PREFERABLE to live in abject, systemically enforced poverty.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

Keep in mind minimum wage was initially created as a wage that provided comfortable living and that provided for all living necessities. Nowadays that'd be at least 4 or 5 times what minimum wage pays annually.

Many electric cars released in the last three years have a range of 500km or more.

>Nowadays that'd be at least 4 or 5 times what minimum wage pays annually.

Correct.
Now explain to me why that's bad.

>No guys I promise the economy in this first world country is fine all you have to do is just live in a tent in the woods with no running water or heating.

Americans are the dumbest motherfuckers

Yes, that's what I'm saying. The current minimum wage no longer provides a reasonable living. It literally provides poverty.
Even raising it to $11/hr would go a long way to helping minimum wage workers, but realistically speaking it should be about double what it currently is to provide a reasonable living.

Bit of a non-sequitur but I work in a laundry and get paid 50$p/h because I only work weekends and get paid an award rate, but there's a retarded girl who comes in every week to work and actually is a burden rather than an aid. Aside from being lazy corpulent and slovenly she folds clothes like she's the art director in a Tim Burton film, and after 10 years of working there can't be left alone in a room because she won't know what to do. She also has the emotional maturity of a 5 year old and cries when someone tells her she didn't do something right in the nicest possible way.

>Explain to me how half of the country making the equivalent to 1/5 of what they made at the end of the great depression could be seen as a bad thing

The numbers are bullshit trust me. The Leaf is considered one of the best electric cars on the market but you take that thing on the freeway and your estimated mileage drops 10 miles after two exits. You're stuck to the streets driving like a grandma.

The typical estimate you see is ~90 miles on a full charge but this is at peak conditions with everything turned off on a downhill road. It's just unrealistic.

When you say retard are you being cheeky or sincere? Is she developmentally delayed or have Down's syndrome or something? Because I was more referring to the kinds of people who are what you might think of as slow, or simple, not actual drooling retards.

>living somewhere reasonably priced
>luck

It's hard to imagine that people actually believe this.

I did a test drive in the electric BMW, that thing had a surprising amount of power for an electric car. It's a shame that they don't seem to live up to their reputations, however. I'm looking forward to the technology improving. Driving something that runs almost silently at 70mph was a ton of fun.

She is intellectually disabled. The modern psychosocial model incorporates these individuals into society as much as possible to try and facilitate as much of a self-sustaining, normal life as possible for them but when they do a shit fucking job that I have to re-do every week I'd rather they not work with me personally.

Right wing
>Just move somewhere outside a city where things cost less and people make more money, its simple and easy, everyone should do it

Also Right Wing
>Wtf why are all these poor people flooding to the suburbs! Fucking freeloaders

Make MINIMUM wage, can't afford to live in the TOP city of Australia.

Besides you could if you wanted too you just want to be close to the cbd like everyone else and their mum.

>unrelated criticism to dodge accusation of laziness

Guess Sydney doesn't need restaurant workers and manual labor

>Everyone who is poorer than me is lazier than me. Especially those dirty mexicans stealing our jobs!

Why do you keep sticking words in my mouth. I'm claiming that you personally are lazy.

Yes, I understand that. I'm actually not for that. If they are unable to do the job, they should not be in it. If they are able to do the job, however, they should receive compensation enough to support themselves.

The future is looking bleak lads

They really do have a kick it's awesome. They're instant torque so everyone looks at you like an even pussier Prius and then you gun it out of a stoplight while they're still gearing up.

Having owned one now I think hybrids are a safer bet but I really do want to see where the technology goes. I've only seen one Tesla on the road but it was beautiful. But yeah if I don't make sure I'm charging before I go to bed I wake up SOL for wherever I need to be. Had some close calls where I make it back from school or a date with 1 mile. Imagine taking a girl on a date and telling her you can't make it back to her house.

>Fuck wagecucks they don't deserve a living wage
>What the hell Felipe, you got my order wrong

I never understand people against raising the minimum wage. You want people to be there to serve you and expect perfect service but you also insult them for having that job in the first place.

We need Felipes in the world. There has to be some incentive there.

How do you charge it if you live in an apartment complex? Hang a 20 meter cord out the window?
