Connery

Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig are the closest the novels and Fleming's vision of Bond. They are realistic, dark, cold and grim.

Sean Connery and Roger Moore are cinematic and classic Bonds. Every male fantasy.

Pierce Brosnan is a mix of everything, a jack-of-all-trades but master of none.

George Lazenby only had 1 film, his acting was pretty bad but he's a good brawler and OHMSS was a good espionage film on par with From Russia With Love.

...

Moore

A good post? on Cred Forums?

I think Dalton is the closest we got to Fleming's Bond. Craig is sort of there, but his movies are too.. modern action?

Personally i never liked Moore's Bond, but that's partially because i see him as The Saint more than anything.

...

Timothy Dalton because he has 100% great Bond movies.

Cred Forums has shit taste then

brosnan for me, i grew up with him (20) and he just looks like bond the most to me

What he said.

This about covers it. A lot depends on the era of bond you grew up with. Connery/Moore were mine. Moore is a bit camp and has a few too many quips but they're the two who set the benchmark for the rest.

Ethan Hunt has been a better bond than the actual bond for the last 2 decades.

>inb4 fuck off yank
I'm not even American and I can see it clear as day

Connery, Brosnan, and Dalton all look like a quintessential Bond Figure, but Dalton is such a shitty actor it ruins his aesthetic; he was carried in all of his movies due to the fact that he received some of the better scripts in Bond history.

>tfw George Lazenby is my grandfather's cousin
>tfw no one liked OHMSS

>OHMSS was a good espionage film on par with From Russia With Love.

It also had the only Bond romance that was realistic. In every other Bond film, women sleep with him, just because he's the main character, but the romance in OHMSS felt completely organic

I don't know about Yank but you do seem to be that guy who sucks Cruise's dick in every thread that he's mentioned. Not got a "religion" to shill for?

John Barrymore

Connery, Dalton and Brosnan are all equally great IMO. I like Moore but he made two films too many. Lazenby I like as well, probably the most underrated Bond. His emotional vulnerability works well in the one film he did because its kind of a romance.

The only Bond actor I don't like is Daniel Craig. I don't like his looks, I don't think he has any charisma, and the movies themselves just don't have that Bondian flavor I've come to love.

I know what you mean, Craig feels a lot more like James Bourne to me...

The love story between Tracy and bond is easily one of my favourite ever, and it's all the more memorable because she gets killed at the end.

Unlike Moore, who always seems to be in command, Dalton's Bond sometimes looks like a candidate for the psychiatrist's couch – a burned-out killer who may have just enough energy left for one final mission. That was Fleming's Bond – a man who drank to diminish the poison in his system, the poison of a violent world with impossible demands.... his is the suffering Bond

I always thought this was a great was of putting it

YOU :^)

Dalton's Bond definitely has that feel to him, but without sacrificing the more fanciful swashbuckler elements of previous Bonds. It's a great mixture of the literary Bond and the cinematic Bond. He also has some of the best one-liners

In Moore's last two films he looks like a candidate for assisted living

You were ten when casino royal came out and six when die another day came out, how the fuck did you grow up with brosnan

Moore is the only one who really got the character, inb4 muh books that no one other than you read

>I like Bond. But it's silly to take it seriously. It's just a great big comic strip.

>To me, the Bond situations are so ridiculous, so outrageous. I mean, this man is supposed to be a spy and yet, everybody knows he's a spy. Every bartender in the world offers him martinis that are shaken, not stirred. What kind of serious spy is recognized everywhere he goes? It's outrageous. So you have to treat the humor outrageously as well. My personality is entirely different than previous Bonds. I'm not that cold-blooded killer type. Which is why I play it mostly for laughs

He had his own style and it was great, but I fail to see how that means he "gets" the character better than anyone else. There is no definitive interpretation, an actor should play to his strengths

Also Moore struggled in his first two movies because he's trying too much to be like Connery

>but I fail to see how that means he "gets" the character better than anyone else

It's not that he gets the character, he gets that it's a pulpy franchise. If you want a serious spy, watch a George Smiley movie.

This. Why even have this thread?
NuBond is the only one that comes close

i think the question we should be asking is when did butt chins become attractive, why and are they still?

Lets list them then.
1 Connery of course.
2 Craig
3 Dalton
4 the rest

and what if I want something inbetween? Seriousness and Escapism aren't mutually exclusive, it's a sliding scale

I think Dalton struck the best balance

nuBond a shit

Craig is the best for me

Connery is close, the rest is shit
