October movies

Horror movie thread! Whatcha watching this month?

I'd like to be red pilled on the Halloween franchise. I haven't seen them since I was a wee lad and barely anything. I think I'm just gonna watch the original two. Is H20 worth a watch? What about the Zombie remakes?

Bump.

Watching Chopping Mall right now

Watched that the other day.

Wanted to fap but my GF was there.

1. Classic (but I never rewatch it anymore)
2. Interesting - It's a hyper violent TV movie basically. Just sort of feels like a prologue to the original
3. Actually a lot of fun. Just not related to the series
4. I like it a lot for nostalgia reasons. Comfy atmosphere. Not a good film though.
5-6. Bizarre fucking messes. Worth watching if you can get the multiple cuts of them, just for curiosities sake
H20. Meh. 90's soft slasher feel, like Urban Legends etc.
The Reality Show One. Same as above. Kinda shit.

Remake: I kind of liked it, but it's also a stupid film. It looks nice, but it's not really a Halloween film.
Remake sequel: Same as above, only I legitimately think it's a good movie. It's got some genuinely unnerving, disturbing violence in it, and looks fantastic.

I know your pain dude. It's so annoying when you just wana fap but your GF forces you to have sex with her instead.

Thanks user!

Is the Friday the 13th series good? How about the first one?

just watched dead and buried (1981). It was shit, bad acting, very slow, very low light, cheesy but not quite funny atmosphere, meh twist at the end. I got the rec from here, can someone defend it?

The fuck, user, Dead and Buried is great.

Probably gonna watch Idle Hands (comedy/horror) since I usually do around Halloween.

Probably loads of zombie films... hate these new "jump-scare" films that literally only have cheap jump-scares and no actual horror.

That's a nice internet assembled opinion you've got there. Enjoy Idle Hands, and being 16 years old.

WNUF Halloween special

>Implying my hands will be idle with alba tied up in her angel outfit

I recently saw Wes Craven's New Nightmare. It was good aside from the absolutely terrible child actor playing the son.

Still need to rewatch the original Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and Trick 'r Treat.

That was my first Elm Street movie.

Going to watch Freddy's Nightmares because it's underrated and Tales From The Crypt.

I always watch Evil Dead franchise this time of year. 2013 is more gore porn but good movie regardless, only one I find legitimately creepy is the original.

>We're going to get you not another peep!

Also watched The People Under the Stairs because I saw it in on of these threads. Great movie.

>Trick 'r Treat
Saw that one for the first time this year. Was bretty gud. Kinda want to rewatch it already.

Still need to watch the original Nightmare on Elm Street. Never seen any of them.

I watched Halloween for the first time last year. Bretty gud too, if a bit dated.

can you guys recommend me some good recent horrorm ovies?(recent means 2010+ for me)

Also reminder that Curse of Chucky was actually good.

>he's not marathoning cronenbergs horror filmography
top plebs, literally not one comfier horror director to ever live

Halloween 1

Great but slow paced.

H2

Some good bits, but it's the over-the-top loud silly drunk brother of the original.

H3

Underated. Really good haloween movie, but not a Halloween movie.

H4

Really good. Lots of innovations and trope subversion without the meta aspect that usually come with it in the post-Scream era.

H5

I liked it a lot, but I'm in the minority.

H6 (T-Cut and P-Cut)
Theatrical cut is okay, but the theme is a little too obnoxious and sounds like a motorbyle on steroid and the evil gene thing comes out of nowhere.

Producer's Cut is better, but heavy on the supernatural and cult aspect. If you don't like that sort of thing, you won't like it. (keep in mind the original Halloween screenplay was full blown supernatural with Enda being the original killer cursed to relive the same night every halloween)

H20

Good, but felt like a Scream knock-off at times.

H Resurrection

Fuck. That. Movie. The only good thing in it was seeing Michael's lair.

RZH1

Meh. I liked the origin of this Michael, but the rest of the movie felt average as fuck, except for the Danielle Harris attack scene.

RZH2

Great movie (Director's Cut is way, way better than the T-Cut), but bad Halloween franchise movie.

You're Next if you want a slasher movie with a twist.

>2010+
Good fucking luck.

Naked Lunch is great. Would you recommend the one with James Woods?

What would you recommend? I just watched Videodrome for the first time the other night. It was good but not as scary as I was hoping.

I love Bride of Chucky. Can never get enough of goth Tilly. I still haven't watched Curse... thanks for reminding me.

Good and recent:

Horror-Comedy-Drama

The Final Girls (great movie)

American+Foreign Horror

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (slow but the music and imagery is good)

TV Series

The Exorcist (more of a spin-off than a remake. It's great so far)

Fuck you, there's no difference between the 00s and the 10s besides better phones and computers, and that matters 0% in films.

Here's what I've been watching this cocktober
On phone so finna spam the thread
1/4

Misery wasn't the best but was one of my favs.
Evolution was pretty dank as well but innocence is far,far better
2/4

Tbh the vvitch and the kill list are the only good non obscure horrors to come out recently but I haven't seen many horrors because they stress me the fuck out
3/4

90's babbie detected

The greasy strangler is abysmal and disgusting

I try to watch movies that are about/set during Halloween in october (I lie. I watch them all year. I love halloween)

So far this month:

Ginger Snaps
Halloween (original)
Halloween 2
Creepshow
Halloween 3
Trick r Treat
Night of the Demons (original)
Gremlins (dat Phoebe)
Flatliners
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Silver Bullet
Practical Magic
Halloween 4
Halloween 5

ginger snaps 2 is good, famalam

You need to watch the 3rd Halloween. I unironically love that film

youtube.com/watch?v=W7-uC0LDllM

wat app

I know. I like the 3rd one too.

>implying GS3 isn't a fevered dream of almost not human anymore Brigitte while she is kept prisoner by Ghost in that basement
>her last human thought is to undo what she did to her sister in the first movie so they can live together forever

;_;

his best desu
the brood, the fly, dead ringers, naked lunch, crash, existent are my favourites apart from videodrome
then after that you can try his other stuff like shivers, rabid, scanners, the dead zone and spider
I was incredibly weirded out by videodrome at first though, took me a while to appreciate it fully, it's not scary per se, but incredibly surreal and hallucinatory and the body horror element is quite disturbing

letterboxd.comyawned

Rabid is my fav.

If 3 had done marginally better we could've gotten at least one more (perhaps even two more if Syfy decided to fund them) sequels set in various time periods, and the lesbian overtones would just have become stronger.

Katy Isabelle and Emily Perkins did play sisters again in a Selena Gomez dance movie, though.

>mfw armpit benis

TV movie crap.
All crap.
There are no good 2010+ horror movies.

I remember that dance movie...

Orphan Black is sort of GS related. Some of the same people made it and it's set in the same fictional town, but no werewolves so far.

Lots of clonecest vibes though.

You're so bitter.

Canada has a lot of incestuous production.

They were also both on some show called Da Vinci's Inquest, and they've both been on Supernatural, but I don't think that films in Canada.

I've never seen Orphan Black, but I've always been interested because for the longest time I thought Ghost would just be the girl from Ginger Snaps 2 and then she ended up being the lead in like an Emmy nominated scifi drama.

Recent horror is just bad, and it annoys me that kids forsake the best of the genre for some modern rehash or hipster trash.

OB season 1 is great. It goes dowhill from there. It's still watchable, but S1 is in a league of it's own.

So what you're saying is that you're... TRIGGERED?

letterboxd

Antichrist and Starry Eyed were pretty good.

Ha, memes, I'm just like a SJW! Good one, kid. Let's go watch some Sargon vids.

You not giving a chance to movies because of when they were made and how you think they are 'hipster' trash is just like a SJW.

Are any of those actually scary?

I'm looking for some weirder, more experimental horror stuff with actual themes.

Antichrist is a bad film, and more of poorly done Tarkovsky rip off than a legitimate horror film.

>You not giving a chance to movies because of when they were made
Who said that?

The DC of Nightbreed has a reserved spot in my spooktober movie marathon. And at least the first two hellraiser movies.

What Tarkovsky does it rip off?

im doin a 24h rabbit stream using shudder on halloween for discord friendos

>Are any of those actually scary?
Unless you're ten years old, movies aren't scary. Horror films are more about tension. That said, the Brood comes pretty close to scary.
>I'm looking for some weirder, more experimental horror stuff with actual themes.
Cronenberg has plenty of that, but most of the best horror works on instinct, not intellectualism. They usually aren't movies parading around big themes.

>Are any of those actually scary?
Shut up and watch videodrome.

I'm doing the same with my strem buddies
I use castamp and embed my channel on a site though
So /comf/

Not particularly horror but I'm watching The Stand on tv.

Can you dig your man?

it was a neat idea/premise but it was kinda shit

I dont know, plenty of themes in videodrome, scanners, existenz, etc. Subtext layered on subtext, you newflesh scum.

Nightbreed - Director's Cut
>mfw

He's a righteous man
He's a righteous man

I couldn't bear to watch all of existenz. All the guys worshipping that one chick was quite offputting.

I wouldn't classify them as scary, not a lot of horror movies really are anyway imo
what cronenberg is famous for is this idea of the corruption of the body and psyche through extremely graphic imagery of stuff like mutations and disease, it's more of a weird you out type horror rather than jumpscares and alike
for example, the brood is psychiatrist who uses this new therapy techniques which allows their patients to physically manifest their issues through things like boils on their skin etc, however one patient can do this in a much more powerful way and use it against those who have done things to her in the past
the fly is about a scientist who invents a new teleportation device, but it goes horribly wrong, resulting in some gruesome mutations and interesting characteristics as he becomes a man-fly hybrid
if you want some unconventional horror along the lines of movies such as the thing and invasion of the body snatchers and are sick of the typical slasher horror schtick, then cronenberg is well worth your time, I would say it's essential for any horror fan

see

Did you even read my post?

Baby can you dig your maaan?

I love his delivery of that.

I want to defend it, because I like it, but I was also disappointed by it when I saw it.

If anything, I would recommend it for it's unique and odd aesthetics and atmosphere that come more from the period and the circumstances of the production (an American film produced in New Zealand, I believe) than from the quality of it's writing and directing (although it wasn't poor, the script seemed to have more promise than what was ultimately delivered).

Not him, but I personally really like Idle Hands even if it's completely mediocre - Plus Alba was a 10/10 in it.

Fuck You're Next was shit. There's something fishy going on in the low budget world - Guys like Wingard and Co. just seem inept behind the camera. Their films are so amateurish. I'd love to know what kind of budgets they're actually working with.

Anyway, I would love to watch some good movies for Halloween, but I watch(ed) horror movies all day, erry day, so I don't really have anything left to do.

I'll probably force myself to finish the Children Of The Corn series I guess.

Where does it say or imply that I don't give modern horror a chance?

>Guys like Wingard and Co. just seem inept behind the camera. Their films are so amateurish. I'd love to know what kind of budgets they're actually working with.
The Guest was halloween kino.

I think it's weird how big actors had different working names and starred in low budget horror before hitting big.

>Eva Mendes was in Children of The Corn
>Brad Pitt was in Freddy's Nightmares
>Matthew Mick was in Chainsaw remake
>Zellweger was in Chainsaw
>Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates

The Guest had a good concept, a really great and charismatic set of lead performances - But the same problem. Lots of really amateurish writing and directing.

I can't find a budget on this; I'm thinking these films are much lower budgeted than what is standard for this sort of film. It clearly didn't have the same budget as a DTV 90's film (which is what it felt like), but I also don't think it even had a traditional 90's style indie budget in the 1-5 million dollar range.

I think that's got to be the reason so many of these late 2000's, 2010's flicks are so...not professional...

Yo nigga. Stay woke.

Have you watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre: TNG (4?)

Matthew McGogglygoogle actually out crazies Jeffrey Combs. It's great fun, but it's real trash. Much more interesting premise than it deserved too.

>hipster is mad at the hipster trash

O I'm laffin

Your numale horror still sucks.

right here

No horror movies, Halloween is for suburban American children.

Nope, not there either.

Watched this last night
Thought it was pretty solid.
First act was fantastic. Gore in movies usually doesn't make me sick to my stomach but the gore in the first act is way too goddamn realistic. I mean when the doctor slices her open and squeezes her stomach and this thin, almost brown blood just slowly oozes out. Showed a lot of restraint and leaves so much to your imagination. Not to mention that brutal choking scene at the beginning.
2nd act was a little weak imo but it picks back up in the 3rd and I really like the conclusion.

Ends up being really dated, but not in a bad way imo. Stylistically it doesn't get too twisted up in too many tropes of the time or rely on 70s culture too much, but the set design and and clothing are VERY much of the time, which I actually kind of like.

...

Starry Eyes was pretty shit. It was like a crap Mullholland Drive that turned into a crap slasher.

Can you really fault us for celebrating something other than Christmas? I hate the constant bombardment of marketing for 2 months straight as soon as October is through.

I've already seen a Christmas commercial...

Yes, there.

pls stop your harsh opinions are causing me great discomfort

>doesn't realize Halloween is the most patrician holiday
It's the only major holiday where (once you become an adult) the focus is almost completely on friends instead of family.

>advertising a stream on Cred Forums
It's like you wanna get shut down

The budget definitely shows, and it's certainly not a perfect film, but still highly entertaining, the atmosphere is great too, very cold and sterile

I'm not really a fan of Texas Chainsaw honestly. I only just recently became aware of Mr. Mcgoogles the frog from True Detective and Max Keebles Big Move.

Inland Empire is still the last good horror film ever made. If you enjoy anything released since that point then you are an autismal Cred Forumseddit baby who isn't qualified to have a valid opinion on any cinema.

I never said I refuse to see new horror films or don't like them simply because they're new. I said modern horror sucks, and that's based on what I've seen, which includes all the films mentioned in this thread.

lel whatever autismo

>Halloween 3
>Underrated
I wouldn't even say it's underrated anymore. Especially last year, Halloween 3 really blew up in popularity and it's officially a cult classic now.

I have a soft spot for microbudget movies, especially if they're effective.

Its also does a great job of feeling "authentic" as far as the framing device goes. They nailed that local news in the eatly 90s and the VHS aesthetic damn well too.

I think its worth checking out if your looking for a new Halloween movie.

AMC is having a marathon of all the Friday the 13th movies today. Obviously its on cable and there's censorship but that's what I'm going to be watching today. Nightmare on Elm Street is all day tomorrow.

Yeah but i really just wanted to call someone newflesh scum and emphasize that cronenberg makes creepy movies that work on multiple layers.

It felt kind of claustrophobic to me. I think because of the fact that almost everything took place in a cramped apartment building and I've always felt like 70s interior design felt a little claustrophobic in the first place for some reason .
Added to the effect for me I think. And even with the small budget the effects, like the wriggling of the parasite in the stomach, were absolutely masterful imo, as would be expected from Cronenburg.

Here in canada AMC doesn't present all the movies, just some of them. Only 2 Elm Street tomorrow (4&5) and no Jason Goes to Hell today (thank god!)

>Halloween
Classic.

>Halloween II
Unnecessary bullshit. Honestly, if someone is tired of the 1, this is probably their next choice. It's the most liked sequel. Not that great, though.

>Halloween III
Don't let people tell you this is a good movie. It is pants on head retarded. Why? They think, "all kids will be wearing this mask and they'll ALL be watching TV ALL at the same time." Nope. And no, I don't care that Myers isn't in it. It would've sucked with or without him. This film would have ZERO reputation if it wasn't related to the Halloween series. It would be a forgotten 80's horror flick if not for the name and it would not have any fans.

>Halloween 4
This one is okay, I guess. Not really a fan, personally. You probably want the general consensus rather than my opinion. Most seem to think it's just okay.

>Halloween 5
If they ended it here, this would've been the worst Halloween film. I remember skipping over this one when AMC would marathon the Halloween films. Most did the same.

>Halloween 6
To some, it doesn't get worse than this. It's bad all around. The cult thing is stupid. If you're afraid of cults, go for it. I wish I could say it's laughably bad, but it isn't. It's just garbage.

>Halloween H20
This is basically Lifetime TV Movie: Halloween: The Redemption of Laurie Strode. I'm not kidding. H20 feels like a fucking Lifetime TV movie. It's better than 5 and 6.

>Halloween: Resurrection
At this point, you have to ask yourself if this is all worth it. Death is nothing to Michael Myers, but death is your only release. This is Hell.

>Halloween 2007
Maybe this is the worst Halloween movie in general. Explaining Michael Myers' backstory makes him far less scary. He's just your average edgy 13 year old, basically. It just doesn't work. Backstory works for Freddy, Ghostface, Chucky, etc. It doesn't work for Michael, Leatherface or Pinhead.

>Halloween 2009
This is where I tapped out. I'm not wasting my time with this Michael Myers bullshit.

Honestly I do think 6 is fun, if nothing else for seeing Paul Rudd try to be in a horror movie. You can tell even then he was meant for comedy. An the story is just so dumb I have to laugh at it.
Maybe it's because it my wife's favorite installment next to the original and we've watched it a ton, but I actually kind of like H20. Yeah the Lifetime movie criticism isn't far off but I think it kind of makes for an interesting watch. Kind of an easy-watching horror movie. Doesn't really spook you but sets up a decent atmosphere and has some solid performances for the most part. It's a well-crafted and logical story, even if it's a little bland.

The tvguide channel is playing The Stand so I might tune into AMC later tonight.

I miss when AMC played horror all month but they started waiting until the 13th to actually play horror these days. Thanks to their late night horror couple years ago I watched Return of Living Dead.

>That naked pink hair bitch

HNNGH

I miss when Cartoon Network played Goosebumps years ago.

I wonder if they're going to play Scary Godmother like they used to or if they dropped it completely?

I'm thinking I'll switch over to movies this month. I tried playing Silent Hill 1 and it's a piece of shit.

I never see it mentioned anymore but I was recommended The Borderlands once in these threads and its a pretty solid movie.

I think the cult thing is an interesting concept, it's just not meant for a series like Halloween. Your wife is a stupid idiot and she just made the list. Tell her I said that. Also be sure to tell her that all the sequels are shit and that Scream is better than the original Halloween. Thanks.

She's a woman senpai, why would you not expect her to like Halloween: Lifetime edition?
There's no need to be a cunt about it.
She likes Scream at least as much as any of the Halloween movies.

Oh yeah? Guess what? You just made the list, too. Fuck your slapstick Halloween movies. Just add some goofy music while Laurie beats the shit out of Michael and you have The 2 Stooges. Fuck that. Ghostface could whoop Michael, too.

Some tv show called Wolf Creek is coming on tv later tonight.

Anybody else think they might give it a try?

You doin alright buddy?
I'm sure your dad loves you, he just doesn't know how to show it well.

Watched The Host, Funny Games (remake) and Repulsion. All of them were p good.

Yeah? You just made the list for a second time.

I absolutely love the 1st one

Most of the series sucks bad though

watching the fearless vampire killers and the little shop of horrors tonight

t. tcm

Every October I watch every scifi/horror movie referenced in the song "science fiction double feature"

The day the Earth stood still
Flash Gordon
The invisible man
King Kong
It came from outer space
Doctor x
Forbidden planet
Tarantula
Day of the triffids
Night of the demon
When world's collide.

Nice user I've never watched them ad I always forget I have TCM.

TCM is where it's at during October. If you like old movies that is. Curse of Frankenstein and The Revenge of Frankenstein are playing Sunday as well so I'm looking forward to those. I think it's Christopher Lee month actually, so there's been a few hammer horror movies on, I even saw one where he plays the hero, which was weird.

Gotchu senpai

Maniac 2012
Wer 2013
Hidden 2015
Dream Home 2010
Ich Seh Ich Seh
Bone Tomahawk
Trollhunter
The Wailing

I saw some movies called Fu Manchu or whatever with Lee at ungodly hours so I think I might start watching TCM again because fuck all plays on AMC.

Might check out El Rey because they're pretty based for a spic channel. They even go uncensored after 9 pm.

I watched those Fu Manchu movies, they were pretty interesting. Not horror, mind you, but still they were neat little movies with a huge amount of yellow peril, which is pretty funny now. It's almost cartoonish in a way it's presented.

soo the only halloween movie worth watching is the first one?

Sweet, thank you. I'll get to watching some of his films later this month, then.

Is Inland Empire scary? Is it *horror*-horror, or just kind of unsettling like I thought Eraserhead was?

Also any other movies in that vein?

On the menu for tonight

You've probably already seen it as a Lee fan but I'll say it regardless. Check out Hollow Man and it's definitely not horror but I really enjoyed Man With The Golden Gun.

MEESTUR SCARAMANGA and Red Grant are the only Bond characters that actually had a chance in a fight.

I've definitely seen Man with the Golden Gun, I loved that movie when I was a kid. I've seen Hollow Man with Kevin Bacon but I don't remember Lee in that. Unless you meant Wicker Man, which I have also seen. There are so many Christopher Lee movies from the 60s and 70s, it's a bit ridiculous but I'm going to try and watch as many as I can.

Inland Empire is the scariest piece of "hard terror" Kino ever created.

Whoops my bad, idk how I thought of Hollow Man as Wicker Man.

Groovy.

Watching Friday the 13th Part III on AMC right now. I'll finally be able to see parts IV and V afterwards.(Never seen them before)

Oh shit, FVK? Might tune in for that.

They better connect the show and 2013 movie.

Here's my list so far.

1 of 2.

I watched Possession for the first time earlier this week (which I admit is more like a drama that happens to have some horror type aspects here and there than a straight up horror or thriller type movie) and the subway tunnel scene is very very VERY unsettling. The whole movie gave me sense of discomfort in general and when it was finished I watched an episode of "The Life of Birds" to chill myself out. lol I'm such a pussy.

Anyway, last night I watched Fright Night. Roddy McDowall >>>>>>>>>>> David Tennant. Although, I definitely have a bias there and that bias is I love the whole late night horror movie show host thing and I absolutely despise the sleazy Criss Angel Vegas illusionist type so Tennant's re-interpretation of Peter Vincent never really had much of a chance with me to begin with.

I want to watch more 80's movies with Roddy McDowall so anyone with recommendations for good ones? They don't necessarily have to be Halloween related.

Well that's one of the worst opinions I've ever heard.

Not sure why they're uploading misoriented, but whatever.

2 of 2.

Planet of The Apes, it's not 80's or horror but plenty of Roddy.

You have nice handwriting.

...

Any good Werewolf films you guys would recommend? My absolute favourite monsters when done right, really enjoyed Dog Soldiers.

My favourite film overall is The Thing (1982) so if there's anything in that vein or similar you guys would recommend I'd love to hear it.

*blows a kiss at you and poses like a flamingo*

Nice handwriting you sissy.

American Werewolf in London but you've probably already seen it.

There is a Jack Nicholson werewolf movie I can't remember the name of and check out Cursed with Christina Ricci and Jesse Eisenberg.

If you love The Thing for the body horror aspect than it's kind of a given you need to watch Videodrome and the 80's remakes of The Blob and The Fly.

If it's the isolation aspect well, first, The Thing is the king of the isolation horror subgenre but, that being said I think The Shining (which you've probably seen but, hey, never assume) and the original The Evil Dead are pretty darn good isolation horror movies.

Aww, thanks, user!

Thank you very much.

lololol

The Legend of Hell House is RoddyKino. And it's a phenomenal ghost creeper.

oh hey! now that I think about it The Witch (2016) is probably isolation horror! Again, not really a patch on The Thing but, if the small group (in this case, a family rather than a group) isolated to one area and slowly going mad/turning on each other schtick was one of your favorite aspects about The Thing chances are pretty decent that you'll at least really like The Witch.

>that realization that your average horror nut is a mild mannered unassuming nerd type rather than an edgelord type

This. A great deal of this.

Ohh Ohh can I go on the list? Faggot.

The Brood is underrated

>What about the Zombie remakes?

Well it depends. Are they good movies? No. Are they good "Halloween" movies? No. Are they fun slasher flicks to put on if there's nothing else to watch? Sure; but there's always something else to watch.

Just listen to John Carpenter's thoughts on the remakes, and that's all you need to know:

youtube.com/watch?v=uVYs5Y_EqSc

this desu
>mfw this scene

I remember I was at a Wal-Mart and this nerdy guy checking me out started talking about The Leprechaun franchise suprised the fuck out of me because I love that shit.

Are you a cute guy?

I am watching The X-files mini series. Is it Halloween related?

youtube.com/watch?v=jYjDVCwKr6A

i wonder how he thinks about the thing remake

What's that horror movie where during an orgy, everyone starts melting together?

Society

>Checking me out

I can see how you think that because of how I worded it. He was manning the register and he started talking about Leprechaun.

I'm not John Carpenter but, I think it's 'okay'. I will say the 80's Thing is definitely enhanced by watching the 2000's prequel/remake right before it.

>tfw nick cage will never play fu manchu

There is a miniseries? I only know about the series and just recently got into the series period.

Ayylmao shit with Mulder is boring as fuck and I just start shitposting during ayylmao Mulder centric episodes.

...

Planning on watching Terror Vision after it gets dark tonight.

Preddy fun

...

By mini-series I mean the 6-episodes new Season 10. I agree except from Anasazi and the Finale myth arc episodes are shit. The best X-files are the motw episodes.

Been going through the Universal Horror canon, finished Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Invisible Man. Tonight is the original Mummy.

If you're into that sort of thing listen to Secret History of Hollywood's 7 hour audio documentary of Universal Horror. It's one of the best podcasts you'll ever listen to. The first half would be an amazing biopic.

I can't think of Universal Monster movies without dragging out this underappreciated Halloween favorite.

There's a bunch of great horrors 2010+
You just dont know where to look

Yep

I think we can all agree Italian horror films have the greatest titles:

Your Vice is a Locked Room and I have the Key
Five Dolls for an August Moon
All the Colors of the Dark
Four Flies on Grey Velvet
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage
Deep Red
Hatchet for the Honeymoon
What Have you done to Solange?

For some serious fucked up face spoops check this one out
The first 19 minutes scared me more than the hour and 24 I spent watching that piece of shit Lights Out, god that was awful.
On Netflix right now

...

Ok grandpa, stick to your 70's slashers while some people actually expand their mind to the horror genre rather than continually rewatch the good ole days
you might as well bu a Luddite only without the whole tech thing.

Dont waste your time on Friday the 13th. The first one is an average slasher and the rest use the exact same formula: jason kills some random campers/hicks, horny teens camp out, they die one by one, main character is chased for 20 minutes and survives.
Freddy vs Jason is ok.

And the movie the original is based on, A Bay of Blood has way better cinematography

DOUBLEBASEDAF. Mah nigga comin' through with that GOAT.

>Freddy vs Jason is ok.
As someone born in the late 80's, I had been waiting for freddy vs jason my entire childhood... it was a horrible disappointment. That being say they did have new nightmare and that in the discount dvd rack at the corner store. 5 bucks well spent.

Oh yeah this one was great, quite original too.

Yeah? I saw it there, but the description didn't really sell me on it. Might have to check it out.

If it sucks, I'm coming for you.

i watched that for the first time maybe a year ago and when that scene came up where that angry kid walked into the house with dual-wielding stakes i was completely blown away. that kid is hardcore.

One of my traditions is Bram Stoker's Dracula. It's an absolute mess in some ways but fucking incredible in others. Really equals out to a very entertaining film imo

I'm only on season one but I'll try and remember that.

I like Freddy vs Jason but it's dumb as fuck. I wish they made the sequel they hinted at in the ending.

I know this is isn't Cred Forums but it's worth checking out Freddy vs Jason vs Ash because it's an interesting mash up that brings back surviving characters from Nightmare and Friday along with adding based Ash Williams from Evil Dead.

I should watch I am Bruce this Halloween.

I really should've checked it out sooner, I mean you have to figure with that title it must be good
If you have a thing for uncanny valley faces and just all around weird faces that don't belong like I do, then in 19 minutes prepare to be spooped especially if you watch it alone and at night.
Another good one that unfortunately I can't find is Interior. The premise sounds neat and there's a super good prologue you can watch called Seance.

It's got good atmosphere and a couple of scenes that are quite chilling.
If someone can find a torrent of the thing that would be awesome.

Going to a cabin this weekend, gonna watch Evil Dead 2

Oh and for the newfags out there(and I know you're out there lurking for spoops) watch the first season of Yami shibai
Excellent storytelling and eerie as all fuck episodes with something to scare everyone.

We could be friends

Watch original for actual spooks. 2 is a good movie but they went comedy but I'm glad the franchise continued period.

I've watched them all a dozen times

>a dozen times
Only? Seriously, I could watch these movies a million times and never get tired of them.

What are some genuinely creepy/scary films, with sinister atmospheres and what not? Not looking for campy horror films, I want to experience fear like I did when I first saw Alien.

dropping this by

>Gremlins
That's a Christmas movie.

Watch Great fucking movie. Also Dog Soldiers is top tier comfy. Never get bored watching it and I've seen it a lot.

My fav film of all time. Also comfy.

Second favourite. Only watch it Christmas Eve however.

what is happening

someone had an autism attack

>It would be a forgotten 80's horror flick if not for the name and it would not have any fans

Halloween 3 is a perfect example of what Rich Evans says about remakes. Remake the shitty old movies, and make them good.

The ideas in this movie are so batshit, it deserves its cult following. And with a bigger budget, could be a truly weird and disturbing flick.

I really like the 3rd one. They tried to turn Halloween into an anthology series but fans kept clamoring for Myers so they went back to

Mmm... Elvira... Mmm...

I may be trolled beyond the point of no return for this, but I thoroughly enjoyed Eli Roth's The Green Inferno. It was actually atmospheric and chilling, not Jumpscares: The Movie like most recent horror flicks I've seen

idk who Rich Evans is but whoever photoshopped that thing on the right is a sick fuck.

Fuck, that look is so 90's,garbage,american TV show

tfw in Spain they confused the title with the tagline and actually named it "terror has no shape" (el terror no tiene forma)

Also Cube is fucking isolated

Are there any good black horror movies?

Blackula

That movie is not as campy funny as you'd hope it would be

Umm poppa maaw maaw my heart's on fire

Dear White People

Don't listen to them, It's 100% slasher kino.
4,6,3,1,2,7, remake, 8, 9, X btw.

>hating X
Why are you a no fun allowed fuddy-duddy?

Recommend me some good Asian Horror movies, Cred Forums.

All I remember is A Tale of Two Sisters. I can't remember what else i've seen.

Project Metalbeast

You my nigga. Monster Squad has been my favorite movie since I was a kid.

What was the name of the movie about the black guy that goes to a town where they hypnotize all the blacks into becoming slaves again?

Maybe try The Changeling

The Babadook was pretty good. The kid is annoying, though.

I want to know how much have serious film directors crafted something more interesting thematically and in cinematography?
Like Possession 1981, or Cronenberg
Also a general list of canon horror worldwide.

Jeepers Creepers tonight. Downloaded a 1080p encode of the recent Shout Factory remaster.

How about a Korean monster movie and zombie movie

Is there anything good on the Netflix at all?
I already plowed through the V/H/S series and enjoyed those pretty alright, but it doesn't seem
like there's too much good stuff to pick from as far as Horror/ Halloween stuff goes

Best werewolf transformation ever. They did an amazing job of making it look so fucking painful. No instant change, no stupid sexy werewolves, classic cursed monster approach.

More of a comedy-horror b-movie but I love this one, Brain Damage.
