And I think Quark is essential to the flavor of the show, part of what sets DS9 apart from other Trek shows. They took the "mess hall/ten forward" character and actually made it into something brilliant, a feat no other Star Trek series accomplished.

I don't understand how people can use the excuse, "it gets better" for TNG, but shit endlessly on ds9 for having a couple of Jake and Nog episodes. I can't defend Jake, but Nog's character arc is one of the best in all of Star Trek.

I believe that the great episodes of early DS9 are much better than the best episodes of early TNG, but TNG was pioneering in its genre and execution in that era, so maybe I'm a bit soft in it for that reason.
Duet really is one of the best episodes of all Trek, though.

Why did they redo the DS9 intro music in Season 4? The S1 to S3 music was GOAT. Then they changed it to something objectively worse. The brass players are terrible.

Just finished watching DS9 and what a ride it was, best aliens (Dukat, Quark, Odo, Garrak) and comfy episodes in the series, i really liked it. Though it was a bit of a letdown to what happened to Dukat in the end.

They were constrained by being trapped on the island with no hope of rescue.
Episodes that were well grounded were too grounded, and episodes that were weird were too weird.
They decided that they needed a cheesecake character instead of more interesting writing.

The character never expressed an opinion but his accent and name suggest a straight up Taig.

I'm finishing up DS9 right now and I want to ask what people think of Morn? Does the joke work or is it trying to hard to find a quirk? Is his running gag a little too tongue in cheek or does it work for most people? Sometimes I think it works and other times they belabor it to being annoying.

Fun Fact: Morn actually did have lines, loads of them, but they were all cut. That's where the joke came from, it was probably funnier to the writers than it is to us, but it never bothered me.
