Are there any good revenge movies with a satisfying ending? Perhaps this would depend on a person's opinion of revenge as a rational goal, but I'm interested in ones that don't imply that revenge is empty
Pic related is the exact opposite of what I have in mind.
Do you have an example of one that you think has a satisfying ending? I think the point of most revenge movies is that revenge doesn't help anything and is just self destructive.
Caleb Barnes
>Do you have an example of one that you think has a satisfying ending? No, that's why I made this thread.
> I think the point of most revenge movies is that revenge doesn't help anything and is just self destructive. And that's why I want a movie that subverts this.
Ryder Cook
This I guess?
Jaxon Stewart
There is literally nothing wrong with righteous vengeance.
Blake Morgan
Revenge is almost never very satisfying so basically you want a movie with a theme that straight up lies to you.
Ryder Powell
I tell myself this, but I can't categorically say this is the case.
Jaxson Jones
This
Julian Anderson
Shit, yeah thats pretty dead on to what hes describing. Never would have thought of that. Seconding this.
Joshua Parker
This and Ransom are a great Mel post Oscar double feature.
Kayden Hernandez
ISTD is utter garbage.
Just read this.
Mason Williams
>Revenge is almost never very satisfying
literally an ancient meme created so people dont take matters into their own hands more often
Owen White
CoMC is great but you can't really compare it to 2 hours movie like ISTD waiting 20 years to finally get revenge on a serial killer is risky, he could have been caught or die way before it
Aaron Sanchez
FUCKING THIS
WE ARE BREAKING THE CONDITIONING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Dylan Martin
The end of that book shows that revenge isn't satistying, correct? Still not what I wanted.
Christopher Parker
More like The cunt of monte cristo
LOL
Chase Barnes
Did you consider the possibility that it's actually true?
Jack Rogers
OP here. I still believe revenge in and of itself is futile, but that doesn't mean I can't watch a film that doesn't present it as otherwise.
Benjamin Phillips
Revenge in general is viewed as pretty empty so good luck with finding movies that don't elaborate on that theme. Best I can think of that either frame the revenge as positive or atleast leave it fairly open are
Sympathy For Lady Vengeance Kill Bill John Wick Lady Snowblood The Hovering Blade All About Lily Chou Chou Monster (2014) Braveheart Closer (2004) Confessions
Jayden White
yeah of course how about I Spit on Your Grave?
Zachary Long
No because Ive lived it and its not true.
Connor Jenkins
Oldboy (korean version)
Dominic Nguyen
>Kill Bill Not quite what I had in mind. The characters aren't so cartoonish per se and there's so limited character development that's it's more like some arbitrary goal in a video game.
>Braveheart If you're referring to when Wallace slit his late wife's rapist, I think that scene implied that it was meaningless.
I haven't seen the other films.
Chase Brown
>Closer (2004) Still amazed when I realized this was the source of the chorus to that damn Fall Out Boy song
Leo Johnson
Not seen it but isn't Death Wish kind of a hella epic revenge movie?
Lucas Torres
Haven't seen it, but I might.
Asher Jones
Elaborate.
Nathan Allen
its shit
Brayden Morales
I got revenge it was both immensely satisfying and enriching to my quality of life.
Ryan Sanders
>Death Wish it was
David Green
I spit on your grave or something
Elijah Cruz
was it better than getting double?
Aaron Bailey
Would you elaborate further?
Kevin Kelly
Kill Bill is pretty cartoonish but I mean it's a Tarantino movie after all.
As for Braveheart I was referring to the revolt against the English in general.
Oliver Rodriguez
...
Kayden Cooper
Is this actually any good? Never saw it in its hayday. Or should I watch the original?
Ian Morgan
I meant to say aren't cartoonish per se, but*
I don't consider that revenge, but a just uprising.
Connor Cox
Same director, but with a very different style. One of my favorite revenge-films.
Christian Ross
watch original and then remake so you understand just how good the remake is
Lucas Rivera
Ahh I see. Well as for the other films on that list John Wick is about as shallow as Kill Bill and Kill Bill is basically a rip off of Lady Snowblood. Lady Vengeance, Confessions and The Hovering Blade probably paint revenge in the best light, whereas I dunno if one would consider Closer or Lily Chou Chou to be soley revenge films but they arguably have the most vengeance.
Gabriel Mitchell
honestly i didn't mention the korean revenge trilogy because i thought it would be so obvious for majority of Cred Forums posters, even for people who don't seek revenge films turn out OP didn't watch lady vengeance yet
Gavin Richardson
The original is mediocre at best while the remake is excellent. You can just skip the original or do what said and enjoy the remake even more.
Camden Brooks
>lady snowblood
WHAT THE FUCK MAN THE POINT OF THE FILM IS REVENGE BRINGS DEATH UPON EVERYONE INVOLVED
Juan Reyes
> IF YOU KILL YOUR ENEMIES, THEY WIN !
Jordan Campbell
>Revenge is almost never very satisfying
>if you kill your enemy's they win
Revenge feels mentally satisfying and feeds your ego. I guess if you browse /r numale you probably think revenge is a hollow pointless thing and anti enlightenment.
Alexander Price
t. Never killed anything larger than an ant and is deadly afraid of cockroaches.
Michael Brown
So numale is literally thousands of years old? Seems rather "old" to me.
Nolan Flores
What are you talking about, in my experience revenge was always worth it and necessary
Brody Brooks
> i let people fuck with me with no physical reprecussions
t. numale cuckold
Parker Martinez
>If you seek revenge dig two graves, one for your enemy, and one for yourself.
T. ancient chinese cuck who got memed on by Sun Tzu
Jaxon Stewart
>Revenge feels mentally satisfying and feeds your ego it really doesn't you just like the idea of a revenge and that's more satisfying than actually getting any it's the same thing with the complete spergs that cry ">tfw no gf" they make it all perfect and great in their head without ever facnig the reality and it's the naive fantasy that they are after, not the real thing
Mason Sullivan
God Cred Forums is so fucking gay.
Hudson Murphy
whoa bro... thats really deep... you should write about that in your next essay for 10th grade English
Aiden Murphy
Where do you think you are?
Seriously, what does this have to do with Cred Forums?
Blake Walker
How old are you? That book is YA-tier and it's way to fucking long
Landon Diaz
It's palpable how desperate they are for constant validation. Makes me laugh every time.
Landon Kelly
it only impresses retard like you unfortunately if you had a pair back in 3rd grade and decided to punch one of your bullies back instead of just living the revenge fantasies in your head you'd probably know this first hand
David Russell
Death Sentence was p good
Mason Sanders
you should be an author you could get paid for this shit dude
David Richardson
Thanks, appreciate it
Chase Brooks
Some posts you can literally see the 14 year old on the other side typing it out
Dylan Smith
does this still hold up?
Joseph White
What about the remake's sequel?
Angel Walker
Avoid it. Better to pretend it never existed.
Bentley Campbell
dog shit, i caught it one night on cable and regret watching it
Lincoln Nelson
t. faggot who never had a gf or stuck benis in vagina
t. faggot who never beat anyone up
Aaron Robinson
What a man!
Nicholas James
seriously though, and faggots like this are increasing in number every day
something needs to be done
Tyler Roberts
John Wick doesn't give a fuck about the morals of revenge, he goes on a genocide spree for a dog and a car.
Brody Williams
Hm. The end of Hostel is a satisfying revenge scene. I also liked Deathproof.
They shat the bed with Thriller by putting the porn shit in
John Cook
Hardcore henry has a very satisfying revenge ending. The joke at the end also made me laugh for a solid 5 minutes, more than I've laughed in years. It's a pretty decent movie overall, some weird scene cuts and stuff hold the movie back a bit but it's pretty good if you're just looking for action and revenge.
Elijah White
Just watch the non explicit cut.
Ethan Miller
kind of?
Isaac Torres
Shane is really classic.
Blake Wilson
Very much so. Arrow just put out a blu-ray collection of the entire series as well. I watched the first part a few years ago for the first time and fell in love (with the movie and Meiko).
A bittersweet life is great, but it doesn't even really feel like a revenge movie because of how surreal and darkly comedic it gets in the second half. Even the lead seems more pissed off at the fact that his boss didn't value his work enough than that he tried to have him buried alive. My favorite moment is when he begins whining about that to the one underboss he confronted, realizes how pathetic he's sounding and shoots him mid sentence.
For a more straight forward revenge and rescue flick I'd say "The Man from nowhere".
Carter Hughes
How did you get revenge? This had better be fucking good
Gavin Hill
Nope. Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves
Jayden Harris
I've seen a lot of Korean ones. ISTD has a satisfying ending, not sure what would satisfy you more.
Bedevilled Fatal The Chaser
those are other good K-Revenge, I've seen others, the names don't come to mind right now though.
