.350 has some interesting capabilities. It brings .30-30 power to the AR, performs well out of short barrels, has incredible power suppressed. It does most things .300 blk does better and has phenomenal potential for reloading. I can see it bringing a lot to the table if it gains popularity.

If you just want a cheap 7.62x51 blaster, get a PTR91. They'll also reliably run steel case so you can actually afford to shoot it, and mags are still cheap.

It is worth it to either really know what you're doing or buy quality when it comes to AR10s, they aren't as "solved" as AR15s where you can reasonably expect even cheap ones to run right.

A full powered rifle cartridge would be .30-06,8mm mauser, 7.62x54r,.308. An intermediate cartridge would be 5.45,5.56, 7.62x39, etc.

I think ak clones in general get a bad rep just because there's so many out there that there's bound to be a few bad apples from any company. That and their so simply designed that alot of people don't take much care when building them. They think "its an ak, its supposed to be clunky" But a good build can perform acceptably, even by todays standards.

Numerous reasons. First and foremost, high end competent manufacturers go for the most lucrative market, and that is AR15s. This leaves people with either a genuine love of AKs, or more cynically, manufacturers that know they don't stand a chance making ARs to compete for the domestic AK market. In the past it was generally the latter, companies like IO and Century have no business building guns of any kind, they took to AKs because they knew it was a limited market, and being able to stamp made in USA was actually a selling point at first, before people learned how shit they were, forever tainting the concept of American AKs.

Second, AKs require more human labor than ARs. This is cheap in some countries still, but in the US skilled machinists are far more expensive than in Romania. You need to stamp out the gun and rivet shit in place; an AR forging is CNC machined out with minimal human involvement.

Many ways. Not all are made from kits by the way. But those kits are generally used parts, so they're performing QC and determining if things are in spec. That's one way they can fuck up. The receivers also are decomissioned, so they make new ones in the US. Second way they fuck up. Barrels are also US made. Third way they fuck up. Some are imported in sporter configuration rather than as kits (like WASR). These come into the US as single stack rifles, then Century mills out the magazine well to accept real AK mags. They used to fuck this up by not having proper milling equipment, meaning they'd grind out the magwell and introduce excessive mag-wobble, which could lead to poor feeding and jams.

If you look enough you can still find a unconverted saiga for around 6-7 hundo. Imo thats the best build quality from a factory you're gonna get. I'm a bit bias though, I love commie guns.

Wait and see how Kalashnikov USA's AKs turn out. They've just announced they will be releasing AK103 rifles. They'll be expensive though.

PSA is also going to be offering a new GF4 rifle with a cold hammer forged barrel produced by FN. That should be interesting.

For import stuff, just buy a WASR. It is what the AK is meant to be. Cheap (relatively to the current market anyway), reliable, durable.
They're well made guns. People used to say WASRs were crap for forever (and for a while they were). Most people don't shoot much, not enough to get a real understanding of things. Perceptions are based on less tangible things like status. Chinese AKs were cheap and plentiful, because Chinese labor was cheap, and their factories were state run and paid for, meaning they had few costs and could make guns cheap. Their military style guns however were built with proper quality. Of course it didn't help that other Chinese goods are generally cheap crap (including civilian guns, I had a .22lr that would only fire half the time you pulled the trigger, and its safety just flat out didn't work).

Didn't buy, couldn't afford at the time. Literally just picked it up and shouldered it for a while. Had laminate guard and a poly folding stock but also original laminate stock. A beaute really. I'd definitely go for WASR over PSA. PSA are seeming ok, but reports from machinegun rental range indicate the WASR is more durable. Not saying the PSA is bad necessarily, but the WASR is only going to get rarer and more expensive over time. American AKs will not.
It seems their AKs were well made. They had Soviet advisors in the past to help set up production, and I imagine the government takes QC for arms very seriously. It's a much different situation for export consumer goods, and even their domestic consumer goods.

Chinks are 100% capable of quality manufacturing when necessary. Just think about all the electronics that are made in China. No real issues there, and that's way harder to get right than an AK. The right motivation just has to be in place, and pissing off the Party by supplying a poorly made gun seems like solid motivation. Their actual original engineering is where things get iffy.
