In part. Bad posting was discouraged but over time, the majority of the board became bad posters because the userbase grew so much. When you see all those "fill the board with yellow to rid the board of porn" threads, chances are those people are from that time when memes were forced and unfunny but they liked that time. Things like raids were as simple as a whole bunch of users going on Habbo and making swastikas or blocking entrances, calling into Tom Green's online show and eventually getting on Fox News. Then the fun was destroyed by people "cyber bullying" girls from social media so the "no raid threads" rule came in. That was the beginning of the end really. People here blame things like reddit and that added to it, but it was happening for a long time so I don't agree with the full blame on that awful website.

You'll see posters on other boards say they are in their 30s or whatever and I assume they have been here for as long as I have, maybe longer. A lot of those people also posted on Cred Forums. /S4S/ is a good parody of the early Cred Forums years. A lot of memes which transitioned to normie over time came from that board too over the last couple of years which I find really funny.

06 fag here as well, and that is very much my situation. I do absolutely care about the degradation, but I truly haven't been able to find any site like this one. They all lack that certain something. I've always felt that Cred Forums is like diving into a mountain of trash for days until you find that one diamond that made it all worth it. It could be anything, from a glimpse of unfiltered humanity to just something very original and imaginative. Every other site feels like it is organized to at least some degree. Cred Forums however is like staring into clouds until you see a masterpiece forming. Worth it, even if most of the time the clouds are just resembling black dicks.

Cred Forums had a fuck load of original content in 2006-2010 when this was sincerely one of the central hubs on the internet for sharing artwork, memes, brigading other websites, before any of that shit was considered "cringey" and edgy humor was a new and budding trope on the internet.

A lot of the people interested in this kind of shit just eventually moved onto platforms like reddit where they can get more recognition and there's no chance of their "photoshop this image Cred Forums" style threads getting bombarded with gore or shitposters. The sad truth is, a healthy combination of scum degends and normie retards is needed to make a really wholesome and entertaining board.

With almost ALL original content creators leaving, it's just left the coomers and degends to basically shit up every board with a nebulous topic. Even the lines between /c/ /e/ /h/ and Cred Forums are almost completely blurred.

Cred Forums now is just /gif/ for jpgs, and inevitably the board became completely devoid of most "content" in lieu of porn.

At the very least, it's the product of an unregulated, barely moderated community which is insanely rare these days. So in a way, Cred Forums is still kinda a bastion of "random" scum on

I think the thing a lot of people forget is in the 00’s to around a couple years after Facebook came out each site was like it’s own little island/country and would have its own culture, userbase and in jokes. Now the internet basically consists of Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Reddit with the same content posted across all sites the internet has become this homogenised blob of mediocre shit. You also have a bunch of kids who’ve grown up with the internet always existing so to them there’s no distinction between internet and real life which has changed things massively too.

Being able to post / upload, whatever from anywhere removes all arbitrary boundaries that might have helped someone to associate the internet with their computer.
