The only I hear being used in CA in combination with actually hateful speech. SC always had most everything except the giant fireworks used in professional shows, and in recent years they seemed to have allowed ones almost that big. Protip: A few years back NC undercover police would hang out across the state line at fireworks stands, follow cars with NC tags back across the state line, and pull them over for a search. Don't know if they still do, so when I make a run for the 4th of July, I keep on heading South for a few exits, stop for some food, then head back.
