the answer is 1

The number of nipples OP just had in his mouth.

actually you would be doing the distributive property first, so it would be as follows:
6 / ([2*1]+[2*2]) = 6 / (2+4) = 6 / 6 = 1

2(3) is part of brackets, faggot.

Wow, you went thru all that effort just to be wrong. Colossal retard detected.

No, you wouldn't. Thats just wrong. PEMDAS supercedes your bullshit, you common core buffoon.

It's algebra just solve for ?

Running it through two different calculators, Google, and the Lua interpreter, it's 9. But I was always on team 1. That's not the PEMDAS I was taught in school.

>(1+2)=3
>2(3)=6
>6/6=1

I also ran it through my 6 year old calculator from high school, it also got 9. Why did math change, is this NA education? I graded super high on math.

this, been saying this shit for years and for some reason you thick-headed retards cant seem to understand that the 2 outside the parenthesis is included in that part of the order. In other words, the 2 is 'attached' to the brackets/parenthesis. Answer is 1.

ambiguous syntax is poor syntax

I'm gonna go with 2 in honor of my boy Howard

It's WITHIN THE BRACKETS not ADJACENT. You lose possible equation granularity, and your interpretation is inherently restrictive.

Using ÷ instead of /. Fucking dumbasses.

You guys are fucking retarded ok.
in this break down ?=a
6/2(1+2)=a
6/2(3)=a
6/2=a/3
6=(a/3)×2
>Here we really need to find a number for a that equals 6, that number is 9
6=(9/3)x2
6=3x2
6=6
there you retards.

6 / 2 * 1 + 2

Convenient that it goes in that order. It's equal to 5.

>6 / 2 * (1 +2)
to
>6 / 2 * (3)
You divide and then multiply which gets you 9

do the parenthesis first, 1+2 = 3
so we're left with 6÷2x3

there's really no hierarchy between division and multiplication on the order, so let's just do it like reading a book left to right

6÷2=3
then
3x3=6

my guess is that's 6

>3x3=6
