I work in freight-handling. While I'm not sure about the ones that work in the Dispatch office, I'm very sure about the ones who work on the dock as I do, mainly because I've seen them

I don't, and funnily enough, the women there are somewhat 'offended' that I make 0 effort to talk to them, for the exact reasons you're saying. They hate it that I just show up, do the job, and don't bother talking to them unless I absolutely have to.
But, as far as female friends outside of work goes, it's been the same: they make everything about them and don't care at all about how I'm doing, feeling, or my perspective on anything. What's more is that more than once, I've been scolded by women because I expressed that I was having a rough time of things, with one even going so far as to try tone-policing me.
