Why do Americans eat so many sweet foods? I don't like sweets, but I can understand the appeal it if it's candy or pastries or something. But there is so much weird stuff artificially sweetened, like "honey" bread, and "honey" ham, and ketchup, and nearly all fast foods. What is the demand/rationale behind this?
Everyone was so focused on the tobacco industry, they ignored the sugar industry. Although your thread is likely just "LOL MURICA" bait, I agree its a problem.
Aiden Price
the problem are faggots like you and op who's only solution is banning it because you either live in a nanny state country,or a nanny state in america
Noah Brown
I wouldn't ban it, bans only make the forbidden thing more alluring. I just don't get the appeal in the first place.
Josiah Mitchell
>I just don't get the appeal in the first place. The appeal is diabeetus and all the family demand it conjures. This disgusts me as a citizen. Accountability is history.
I fucking hate it. Everything in this faggot fuckhole is crammed full of sugar.
Christian Sanders
They took all the fat out of food so it tastes like crap. Then they add sugar so we don't complain about taste. It was supposedly healthy. Load of shit..
Zachary Ortiz
nigger spotted niggers and ching chongs lack the sweet tooth of whites
Elijah Phillips
Get out and stay out, liar. We have more than fast food garbage, jaeolous retard
Logan Anderson
this dumbasses thought that fat caused you to get fat, so went for low fat shit, but it lacked flavor so they boosted the high fructose corn syrup. eat full fat for the long lasting calories/energy, avoid added sugar when necessary, don't eat until you are full...eat until you are not hungry
Bentley Carter
,>snacks on vegan food while watching non americams bitch about shitty American fad diets and I thought we were the sheep.
Joseph Morales
I mean, why not eat things that taste good to you? If someone comes up with a great tasting food or variant of something you like, what is the harm of trying it and liking it? We eat that stuff because we like that stuff. It tastes great. Don't be hateful because you can't order Twinkies online without paying £30 a box
Henry Lewis
>artificially sweetened Honey is not an artificial sweetener. Also honey is healthy for you, so that was a horrible choice for your point. It also looks to me like honey bread may have originated in South Korea and I don't know if American's were the first to use honey during the curing of ham.
Jace Parker
Because sweet things are addicting and food corporations can easily profit from other people's addictions

sugar is the strongest drug
Luke Long
Right, bc nobody here has any self control whatsoever.
Blake Torres
>Also honey is healthy for you In moderation, honey is still mostly sugar so you shouldn't overdo it, same with fruits, especially juice Its also good on open wounds as it has antibacterial bee enzymes in it to conserve it >It also looks to me like honey bread may have originated in South Korea Honey bread is probably nearly as old as yeast bread as the sugar helps kickstart the yeast >I don't know if American's were the first to use honey during the curing of ham No, but they probably where the first to use a 1 to 99 honey sugar syrup mix for it while still calling it honey ham / bread This is what op meant with "honey"
Jordan Nelson
well the sugar industry really gradually got Americans used to it. I travel overseas a lot and I notice that the food is much less sweet. even the same snacks like a Ritz cracker or something like that I notice there is more sugar in the American version.
Nolan Cruz
are you serious?
Cameron Gray
honey is just as bad as white sugar. I hope you don't think if you took some normal American's sucrose intake and exchanged it for honey somehow it would be much healthier.
Ryan Fisher
i wish i could afford to eat whatever shitty junk food i wanted to eat all the time
Zachary Brooks
A healthy diet should consist of like 40p/40c/20f, the carbs should be from healthy sources like fruits, honey is a healthy source and complex carbs like rice, breads, potatoes etc. Just saying, because people start thinking all sugar is equal and it is not. I agree with you though.
Colton Flores
junk food is the cheapest food to buy. what are you talking about? buying fresh healthy food is much more expensive even when you are preparing it yourself. please don't say some shit about just eating rice and beans you prepare at home.
Cameron Hill
You can't help something that is part of your culture. We eat what is available and is affordable. Yes it's true that the vast majority of affordable food here has lots of artificial shit added to it along with way too much sugar ect. You can say this about any country or culture. Pick out a specific point or instance and say why is it like this or why do they do this in this country? The fact is no country or culture is perfect.
David Smith
i have a big appetite, eating enough junk food to keep me satisfied throughout the day and not hungry would take a lot of money. plus i love fast food, which is expensive.
Caleb Johnson
I would also like to add that the way you eat and what you eat is programmed into you throughout your whole childhood. Yes you can make changes and get into fitness ect, but it doesn't change the fact that we eat what's available and the vast majority of food that's available is high in sugar and artificial shit.
Owen Gutierrez
> sugar industry lobbying is part of my culture this is a really sad thing to read. it's rare to find someone as duped as you are. you should read gary taube's the case against sugar. he gives a great exposition about how the sugar industry has aggressively lobbied the US government to protect it's interests, protect it from the FDA, and supports junk science to obfuscate the facts about high sugar consumption. seriously I hope you check it out. it is very interesting.
Carter Scott
fruits and veg are cheap as fuck. You're delusional, where I am a bag of chips is like 4 dollars a chocolate bar is 2 and a pop is 3. For 9 bucks I can get produce for a week. There are certain canned food that I would call junk that is kind of cheap but to say junk food is the cheapest food is flat out bullshit.
Wyatt Bennett

Easton Johnson
dude the reason you might feel like you have such a huge appetite and can't be satisfied is because you eat poor quality food.
Hudson Lee
Since this is about diet, I would like to say that the best diet is a balanced diet with correctly proportioned meals for your specific body type (muscle mass, bone density, and fat percentage). Yes some people may need to lose weight or others may need to gain weight but a balanced diet is the best. It's important to not overeat. A lot of people over estimate how much food they need to maintain what they have so they wind up over eating and gaining excess fat.
For the average user, don't worry about calories or specific numbers. Instead eat meat, fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy, ect but make sure that you don't have huge helpings. A good way to do this is have small helpings and eat slow. Also drink a glass of water while you are eating and really take your time. Once you are no longer hungry, stop eating. Never eat until you are full. If you eat slow and drink plenty of water throughout the day, you can train your body to know when you are no longer hungry and then you can stop. This will prevent you from over eating or eating until you are full. It takes practice but it's the easiest way to maintain a good diet and good weight.
Joshua Long
Its more like 1,2 to 2 grams protein / kg bodyweight, then your whole energy-out delivered by 60% fat 40% carbs Complex carbs are generally better but honey and fruits are still good for the rest thats in them
Eli Campbell
You're wrong. Honey is lower on the gycemic index, has actual micronutrients, and proteins in it. So even if an obese person who eats way to much processed sugar were to substitute that sugar intake with honey, yes it would be healthier even at that extreme. Now in a healthy diet exchanging white sugar for honey is healthier and that is a fact. This isn't my opinion it is just a fact,
Nicholas Thomas
maybe I don't know how to cook from scratch well enough. as a college student I would eat shit food to survive. then when I started making more money I started buying more fresh foods and fruits and veggies to replace those meals and my food bills went up.
Austin Baker
You don't need a gram of protein for every pound that you weigh (same as 2 grams of protein for every kilo). That is too much. First of all the average person doesn't even lift. Secondly I've been lifting for 12 years and never eat that much protein. I'm in the upper tier for strength in my gym. No I'm not the strongest, there are about 5 people stronger than me there but I bench 4 plates (405 pounds.) Just eat like a normal person. Take your time and drink water with your meal and throughout the day. Stop eating once you are no longer hungry and never stuff yourself. And most important, eat a balanced diet and don't obsess over numbers or calories.
Bentley Reyes
Yes, people crave sugar in food
Hudson Butler
>This isn't my opinion it is just a fact, not even going to bother with you
Landon Gutierrez
So that amount of protein is about 40 percent of your calories, we agree there. And there is nothing wrong with spiting the remaining however you feel fits you best. For a pretty active lifestyle having more carbs than fats is better in my opinion and closer to 2gs per kg as well. But for a person who isn't very active i.e doesn't go to the gym the macro breakdown you mentioned would be more optimal in my opinion.
Lincoln King
I wouldn't either.
Carter Myers
Because the biggest drug addiction isn't from cocaine heroin or pills its from sugar look on YouTube how people struggle to cut sugar from their diets
Dylan Taylor
There are many scientific studies that show a margianl benefit in eating that much protein so I wouldn't say it is too much but it isn't necesary for strength gains. But if you are in it for hypertrophy and bodybuilding eating that much protein is not too much.
Jonathan Reyes
I don't eat anything with sugar in it, not even in my tea. Even my cereal (muesli) I sweeten with fresh berries
...BUT DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE REFER TO HONEY HAM WITH A NEGATIVE CONNOTATION, EVER.FUCKING.AGAIN
Go cook an expensive honey ham, and dip it in some Chef sauce (brown sauce is sugary af too so I don't get where you're going with ketchup.. also ketchup is internationally loved)
I mentioned ketchup as a side note.. but ketchup is just fucking bomb now and then, especially when you're backed up (what it was invented for). I cooked my dog some lean mince meat and mixed a bit of ketchup into the broiling fat just before I took it out of the oven, when he was constipated from being at my family members, who didn't feed him properly... he's shutting like a finely tuned shotting machine again.. loggn it up

When youve filled up on the necessities of nutrition, your body goes into luxury mode and indulges in delights. When youre a europoor or canadicuck, youre starving to begin with, and your body hungers for the basic nutrients and seeks meats, nuts and vegatables.
In American citys many supermarkets dont even have proper vegetables Also as they are only in demand by intelligent people the prices are shockingly high Dunno where you live tho >eat sugar >Massive energyspike while it is digested >excess energy stored as fat >nothing gets digested >get hungry >repeat The literall reason the average burger is obese The simpler the carb, the faster the digestion Fat and protein digests really slow >You don't need a gram of protein for every pound that you weigh A gram is a good value for someone who doesn't do much sport, doesn't want to gain weight, more to gain faster >Stop eating once you are no longer hungry Was underweight for years, this doesn't work for me when i dont do sports as i kinda go into hibernation mode, doing most sports is shit in winter >And most important, eat a balanced diet I try, but i also eat like 2kg of curd per week for cheap extra proteins, it doesn't even taste bad with fruits >So that amount of protein is about 40 percent of your calories Its about 20% of my calories at 1,5g/kg, protein doesn't has much energy/weight Are you disgustingly fat or do you just not move at all? >But for a person who isn't very active i.e doesn't go to the gym I dont go to the gym but do some hours of cardio a week plus lifting with a kettlebell a bit at home My main reason for high fat is that i have around 6% bodyfat so i dont want to run out of available energy at all Literall brainlet The who says 0,8g/kg, but thats for poor underfed thirdworlders, that are 20cm or more smaller then the average euro/burger exactly because of this, just to survive Everyone should eat at least 1g/kg just to reach the ammount of muscle to fit his lifestyle over time B8
