I can do the best 30 degree climbs in a c-130, an and my combat landings are amongst the world's best.
I'm rating on over 1000 aircraft, with 7000 hours in the sky.

I don't have 10 grand lying around for certification, instrument training, and BFR.
I don't have enough money to buy a single-engine piston aircraft, the cheapest aircraft available.
I would really only be interested in flying twin engine or turboprop aircraft, which are significantly more expensive. Can't afford those either.

I settled on nursing instead. not ultimately what I wanted to do. It pays bills and I have a decent lifestyle. being a commercial pilot it's a rich kid's niche, mostly the reason why there's such a high demand and so few candidates.

What I wanted out of piloting amounted to 1.5k of hours. Not to mention subscribing my soul to a milliary contract for ~ 5 years.

I was able to secure a programmer job, that allows me to run as many VR sims with Arma 3's planes, as I wanted, and be paid considerably more, not to mention, being able to wake up next to my wife every night.

regular flight training is ppl, instrument, commercial, then cfi ratings (probably). after you do those you build 1500 tt then get your atp license and you can start working for regional airlines. build up enough pic time with a regional (long as you're flying turbine aircraft which you probably are) and you can move up to a major/legacy.
the training the airlines give you does not come out of your pocket.
