But you know on some level I'm right. He has no actual reason to sacrifice them; and would play more to his character that he use the demons to protect them. Especially when Guts proves particularly efficient at slaughtering those who he sends after him.

Griffith seems more attached to the demons and monsters now than the humans, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't care about the humans and just ends up sacrificing them for his benefit.

What benefit though? Demons are his bros, humans are his pets. It's the way he wants it. Sure, like most gods they eventually get bored and walk away from their pets. But that doesn't mean he's going to step on them for lulz.

The rest of the band was fucked with or without griff branding them and you know it.
Casca was dying from exhaustion and they were losing numbers constantly.
The only outlier to that is Guts. Casca only lives because he has a boner for her. And they both only survived because Skullington is a madlad who likes to fuck with causality.

So really, Griff took a lose:lose situation and turned it into a win and a quick (albiet horrifying) death for those that were doomed anyway. One minor casualty in Guts. Who got away in the end! and his whore. Who managed to get lucky somehow.
