Sure some tribes were peaceful, but the majority were fucking homicidal. Like every society they were warlike. Bloodshed was standard. Many times the natives were aggressors; other times the Europeans. However, ALL claims of genocide are greatly exaggerated. Disease does not constitute genocide for genocide requires intent. After the colonial period following the revolution, relations between the natives and the American nation were mixed. The U.S. signed many treaties with many tribes, but also broke those treaties. American opinion on natives struggled to improve for major conflicts involving natives continued. Many of these conflicts did however come from the instigation of Britain.

Im not saying every tribe was the equivalent to the Sioux/Lakota or the Comanche, but historically everybody had a history of war. It was the culture. Not incessantly, but regularly enough like every other group of humans ever.
