About 1,200 camps have been identified. Auschwitz II-Birkenau was the largest and one of the few specifically set up for death rather than trying to extract the maximum possible labor first. Estimates are about 1.1M died there.
The original crematorium facility did indeed have a daily capacity of around 300. However, Auschwitz expanded several times during 1942-44 and additional facilites were built. Peak capacity was around 4000 per day
The corpses were pretty emaciated, so they could often stuff 2-3 bodies into an oven made for 1. This increased max capacity to around 8000.
The 6M total is an estimate based on comparing census data throughout Eastern and Western Europe from before and after the war. Majority were from Poland and Russia. Many of them were simply shot shortly after being arrested. Many were starved to death as forced labor in factories.

Nice list of the various theories from down through the years. But I don't see your point? Yes, there are theories to explain him. People have questions. Through the decades all sorts of theories have been put forward by academics, people who knew him and some by out right cranks. Some gained traction. Some were roundly and justly dismissed as crap.
