If you can support a hypothesis with more predictive power than our current models of evolution, then you should publish it so we can learn and try to test it further. If you cannot, then the best thing to do is accept the most well-supported models.

"cross species evolution" is an odd thing to say since by definition species are separated by biological or geographical barriers that prevent passing on genes (beyond a single subsequent impotent generation). it would be nice to have more fossils, but genetic evidence is arguably much more useful these days to track phylogenetic changes.
