Tfw can't find a job
Hey user! What field are you experienced in/applying for? The job market right now is rough, a lot of awesome people are finding it hard to find work. But congrats on trying to be a contributing member of society, better than being a NEET.
I have no experience and I'm applying for any job that is hiring
Do you have any qualifications? Also just putting yourself out there, while disheatening, is a great start.
no qualifications. I've never worked before. I've been putting myself out here a lot and the constant failures are just wearing me down.
It's hard man. I'm in my dream job but getting here was depressing and difficult. I ain't gonna lie to you. How old are you?
22 fucking years old and I still live with my parents.
That Amazon delivery partner job is everywhere, low human interaction, seem to hire everyone. A lot of the ads say no experience, long term unemployed, started job encouraged to apply. I didn't have a job for 14 years. The last 4 so of that trying to find one. I didn't have a car though. Now I do.
You can't imagine the stink it puts on you to have a spotty work history. No one will touch you. Why would they if there is anyone who has proven they'd take any job cause they have to have a job.
I'll have to look into that.
22 is so young bro. You've got realistically another 60 years to get your shit sorted. 20 if you want to have a good career, family and kids type thing. My advice, if you're that keen for work, either accept shitty undeveloping work at a supermarket or wherever will take you, if you're desperate to save money and move out, or go to whatever adult education your country offers and get a damn qualification. Nowadays, it's near impossible to get work without a qualification. Source: I worked at a supermarket doing night fill and saved every penny when I was out of school at 17, until I had enough to pay for school to get a trade qualification, got a job just based on that bullshit certificate, then I moved out of home at 19 with that money.
Try the worst jobs you can get like nite shift stock at any of your local food shoping centers thare are all ways hirering and hours are flexible but at nite time . After you have work people will want to hire you seek beter work as well I felt that in all my years of work that when unemployed nobody wanted to hire but when I was working everybody was interested in me
I've literally applied at grocery stores and never heard back from them. I think the only place I haven't applied to is walmart. The online application process confuses me to the point where I can barely figure it out. I turn into a complete brainlet when I try to apply for a job online.
It's very depressing. I don't have the time to save up money either, since as soon as I start working I'll have to start paying bills (mom already told me I have to pay rent when I start working since I'm an adult)
what state are you living in?
Just don't get discouraged. They don't knock on doors asking people to be astronauts. Trades like the alt right shouts about all the time are good, but I imagine the work drives you crazy, let alone the other blue collar slob people. Trucking seems to be the new lighthouse keeper for introverts.
Any trucking job will keep you looking at the world to see new oppertunities. Warehouse jobs, or any other fixed location will make everyday the same and you'll want to off yourself.
Just get anything to keep you looking for more, different, better work. Mood follows action. Being sullen in a dark room makes you sulllen in a dark room, it turns out. Dont wait for a feeling to get up. That's backward. Get up. The feeling will follow.
My situation was very similar. I was paying $100 board a week on a $150 a week paycheck. Shitty parents, right? They never go away. You're gonna need to work your ass off, I saw it as me proving myself, to myself. I took as many shifts as they could legally give me, not just for money, but to show myself I could work, and work hard. I may be out of touch but I got all my jobs by walking in and handing a printed resume. A good resume is your best tool. Hype yourself up.
Your family will not likey charge you a ridiculous amount of rent it will probably be just a little something to hold you to the responsibility of it my family did the same thing but in my circumstance my mother was actually taking the money and saving it and did not say so she gave it to me a later when I finally did move out I was quite happy that she did that and it was a significant sum of money compared to what I had save up buy that time i was touched by this act of kindness and it help made learn the value of savings even more
...i find a trade makes me proud of my hard work and the sweat on my brow, and has given me the strongest brotherhood with a work team I've ever seen, but sure, tRaDeS bAd
i gave up 12 years ago
now i'm selling my ass for food and place to live
Take pride in your responsibilits feeling depressed over them is only setting yourself up to fail remember this
And how does that make you feel user
Find your local farmers and ask for a job. Its trash work they will pretty much hire anyone on the spot. So you can get some history of employment.
I used to submit 5 different applications under different names. I would only work certain kinds of jobs, so you know the kinds of questions they ask at the interview. One interview I went the guy just threw his hands up and said, you're the most perfect interview I've ever had. It was at a shitty call center, but the training was paid, which was the kind of work I would only do, since you barely work but still get a full pay, plus benefits. I worked there for only a couple months past training since I'm a terrible employee and will self sabotage any place where I'm working for someone else. I got written up 3 or 4 times, got into a fist fight with some dude (that one wasn't my fault), and eventually quit when my manage told me he wanted to preserve my dignity since he was going to have to fire me and walk me out with security. The week before I quit, I stole a dozen credit card numbers, and gave away $5,000 worth of air miles points. They also accidentally paid me for an extra two weeks of work. They called me and tried to get me to return the money. I just hung up the phone. I ended up getting about $30,000 of cash from the credit card numbers I stole. That's on top of the yer before where I had been getting paid for a job at a major telecommunications company that I had quit a year before. They also called me trying to get me to return the money, and once again, I just hung up the phone.
I agree with the work. But my coworkers were the dreges. Nicer than I expected, but no one I could related to. I was a semi skilled laborer though. Gets you in shape, keeps your duck hard, and at an animal level everyone wants you to fuck them. Too bad it pays shit.
I have a college degree, I have applied to 30 jobs in the past 3 months and I got 0 responses.
what degree and what kinds of jobs? Have you considered moving?
I get where you're coming from. I'm a university educated light vehicle mechanic. So I got a life outside work for intellectual enrichment, and kept the two separate. Go to work, be a dredge and get work done, then leave and make further progress. Only wish I was getting more than $17/h aud for it
user, we here at PepsiCo only hire the best and brightest people. Why do you think you're Pepsi material?
I did the same but stayed home with parents till 30 at thay time the progression of my work Exceled to the point and my savings and credit had grown ... I was able to put a down payment and get a loan for a house it's not to great of a place but it is my place and i don't pay rent which is something I never can get back on like a mortgage where I can sell the place and maybe even make money off of it as if it was an investment on its own
I just learned they start people at 13/hr at a luxury car dealership.
I don't see that feasible with that much left out of your check how do you afford to pay car insurance or pay a phone bill or anything
I started on 9/h at Mitsubishi. That was in my apprenticeship though.
yea only 2 jobs I applied for are local. everything else is somewhere else in the country. one job I applied to overseas. I guess I was wrong, the overseas job did contact me, they said no immediately.
Kitchens. They're always hiring. It's not glorious but it's a start
Joined army. So far so good
All that and only 150 a week? Doing what?
And all the research says resumes get largely ignored. Putting a face in is what got you those jobs. Submitting a resume is a cheap thing, and treated as cheaply.
I didn't have a car. I caught a train at 6pm to work night and walked an hour and a half home afterwards because the trains stopped running. I had a $2 sim card with a prepaid plan. I had to provide my own food so I learnt to make awesome nutritious ramen for $1.50 a meal. My one luxury was smoking. And that I limited to 5 self rolled cigarettes a day (pouches are cheaper here) most of which was on my walk home after work. And now I have a daily car, a race car, I work 7.36 hours a day, do overtime whenever they let me, live in a comfortable three bedroom house with a decent shed and backyard, in a good neighbourhood, and have about $600 disposable income a fortnight. That I put into savings unless I need something for my hobbies to keep myself occupied outside of work. Hard work doesn't always pay off but if you know how to work strategically it pays off. In relevance to your original post, you just need to know how to impress the people who pay you. Then the world is yours.
Well sir, I know I will be an excellent addition to the PepsiCo team. I love the delicious taste of Pepsi and Pepsi products, and whole heatedly believe that they are vastly superior to other soda brands. I value hard work and think of myself as a real go-getter!
Do shit like this, get the job, get a certification to be a manager or some opportunity better than crew work, then bounce the fuck out and get a better paying job. At the end of the day, money comes first in a job my dudes.
Crazy. I know it may have been only tune ups, but you know the money coming into the business, come the fuck on, break the little guy off SOMETHING.
>Well sir, I know I will be an excellent addition to the PepsiCo team. I love the delicious taste of Pepsi and Pepsi products, and whole heatedly believe that they are vastly superior to other soda brands. I value hard work and think of myself as a real go-getter!
I used to work at a liquor distributor and they wanted to know what products you're familiar with and whether or not it's a product they sell or a competitor
Pepsi is shit. Good job getting fed of there diabetes empire. Good thing their filthly Indian woman CEO quit.
Don't apprenticeships start out low anyways
>I may be out of touch but I got all my jobs by walking in and handing a printed resume
You are absolutely boomer-tier out of touch with reality. No one, and I mean Not A Single Fucking Company, will accept your resume off the street, nor will you get an interview by walking in and asking for one. That's some bullshit that worked 50 years ago, not today. I used to work reception and I was given strict instructions to throw all resumes into the recycle bin unless they were really bad, in which case I was to pin them up in the break room so we can laugh at them.
The people you're trying to work for are busy doing their fucking jobs, they don't have the time or desire to drop everything and talk to you right now on the off chance you're worth hiring. You want a job? Go to our website, upload your resume there, and wait for a call back. You can call in after 2-3 days and check in if you want; that's an actually good idea for getting an interview, because it shows that you have initiative but also respect the interviewer's time.
Every job I've gotten has been from doing shit the way the company with the opening has instructed to do things, and now I (apparently) make more money than anyone in this thread.
Check out and night fill at a supermarket. Due to me still being in school they refused to give me more than 10 hours a week. When I graduated they gave me 3 5 hour check out shifts then the legal hour and a half break then another 5 hours doing night fill. Also that's why I support physically handing in a resume as opposed to applying online. Shows initiative and confidence.
I was gonna try RNDC. Was that who you were with?
Honestly if you can say that shit with a straight face you'll be in the top 1% of applicants.
That's a classic starter job.
Lol illegal immigrants in trades out earning citizens top kek. Only the strong survive. You’re not meant to if you can’t figure this out.
It's not fantastic, and therefore it's not permanent for me. My hourly labour rate is $14. The shops hourly labour rate is $176. They make $1500 off a service that takes me 1.5 hours. They make $1500, I make $21. It's an awful trade. I wish it wasn't my passion.
Kek, back in 2011.
You in Houston?
Oh yeah, and justified. You're not making the company money. But, I was 18/19 when I started, minimum wage for a 19 year old working at McDonald's in my country is around $18-26, same age doing a more useful job, $9. No wonder we have a shortage of workers.
>This
And then the shock as unprofessional works who only showed up first get paid more, get promoted, cause all the other workers are friends and fellow slobs.
keep trying man, it happens. ive had a few jobs now and i still cant find any jobs rn, it will take as long as it will, but you'll find something eventually. when you interview try not to be so inward, be what you would imagine a chatty friendly person to be like. after you get the job its whatever haha.
...I'm 21 man and I got my major jobs by walking in, having a conversation, and handing in my resume. If I walked into a workplace and the receptionist threw my resume in the bin, I would turn around and walk out again. I'm happy for you, putting up with that kind of disrespect and being happy to work in a workplace with such a narrow view of acceptable skills, but I personally would not accept that.
It was, it was my first job. But when my future employers called my reference from that job, they got nothing but praise. While I was sitting on a good pile of hard earned money.
Oh I'm not on yet. I just know maybe I could move if they are national. And they only have non-CDL next city over. Lady at the desk says they are real aloof about responding to applications, which I hate.
And you know just how much. Crazy.
My construction job, wouldn't go out for less they 2400$ a day. I got 13/hr.
Whenever I get disheartened, I think about the training they're paying for that I'm going to use to get a better, higher paying job when I've drained them for all the skills I can get and leave.
>Every single one...
I've found half. And true enough that is the way things are going, but your irrationality about the cyberpunk future were are not living in is the answer to Boomer company man shit, and equally ironically worthless. Turns out the whole world is not just your experience.
Just recently, I only got an interview because I was the only one who showed up, unscheduled, and probably lost it cause one of the dates on my RESUME, was wrong as she was reading it IN FRONT OF ME...so I guess cause you say so...none of that happened. Turns out only cause I was in person to ask, the didn't have enough overtime for me, which i can only find out by looking at the place IN PERSON.
Just yesterday a RECEPTIONIST insisted I take a application with me as I left, even though I told them they didn't have enough work for me.
Another fantasy I had no doubt
I know those feels, had quite awhile i was unable to get a job due to a job bad mouthing me when asked about me for job apps. Then factor in nobody would call back. I ended up having someone help me out by putting in a word at a place they worked. I hate my job and think that the company I work for can fuck themselves but at least it’s a job. Ask friends if you have them to put in a good word for you, it helps even if it’s a shitty job.
Amen. But for CDL it's always a rip-off. I can get 4k for truck school without working for your company for a year, under contract, so you know I can't walk.
Gotta be sneaky and smart to get anywhere in trades tbh.
Such as?
Take what you can get in terms of extra training to progress your career, remember a big company does not give a fuck about you, and always be looking for ways to further progress yourself, not the company.
Oh yes. Always a free agent.
the absolute state of wageslave NPCs
imagine getting MAD because you don't have to work lmao stay dumb
It's all nepotism. There was some survey by executives that 95% said a resume was worthless, and 75% said they got there job form someone they know.
For Omegas like us, that explains everything bout our failures. And it's like credit. If one of the cartel bad mouth you, you've misspent years of your life working somewhere.
There are disaster capitalist companies where you can't get fired, and they keep people cause they will never give you a reccomendation, and never able to leave on good terms.
>I used to submit 5 different applications under different names.
fuck off LARPing faggot.
If anything I found that getting a job even if a shitty one, then using it to get a better one helped. Had job I tolerated then found another job that was more enjoyable for a bit (long story fuck the new management). You use the catch of it’s easier to get a job when you have a job.
It is bullshit, miles deep of bullshit at that. All I find was getting a friend to put in a word and prove you can work to get a job...followed by looking for another better job after the first 90 days so they can’t just fire you and have no justification. If there is a system working against you, learn to work the system in your favor.
>be me
>parents get me an office job with amazing pay
>have to move to a different town
>move and literally a week after learning the job get depressed and tell your boss to tell your parents that there's no place for me
>move back
>parents find out, tell me they will never help me again and send me money
Looks like i'm only good for flipping burgers boys
