What was the worst virus LimeWire or any of the other file sharing programs gave you

What was the worst virus LimeWire or any of the other file sharing programs gave you.

If you remember, describe in detail what the virus did.

I mean, everyone keeps going on and on about the viruses.

That and I'm very curious. I was reading posts on Reddit and I remember some people on there got very bad viruses.

Corona.

Limewire gave the old family computer mega AIDS. couldnt run or open anything and the desktop background changed to a blue screen with red text that said "danger" or "virus", something like that. shit sucked

I just got a lot of porn don't recall any viuruses

>I was reading posts on Reddit

Go back to reddot you newfag cuck

Got a virus called Palladium Pro from some shit on the pirate bay. Twas a bitch to remove

i once had thousands of songs downloaded.. serious underground shit. i was infected with some virus that really fucked my shit up. it was corrupting all of my files very quickly. after it corrupted my music files I had no choice but to format my computer

I dunno but i liked Kazaa until the change

Isn't that why there became Frostwire?

Wasn't a file sharing program, but a fake porn site, I just discovered what porn was so when a video asked me to update my Flash I said sure fuck it
Got some nasty shit called SoftSafeness or something similar to that. That laptop probably still doesn't work.

fbi virus telling me youve pirated then i was like whaaat

Piracy. It's a crime

FrostWire wasn't much more safe than Limewire. I remember there was a few songs I downloaded from FW that had porn hidden at the end of the tracks. I was lucky to never get a virus from either LW or FW but I did get one that bricked my laptop from the pirate Bay when I was trying to download all of the current episodes of Regular Show in 2013 or 2014.

REDDIT IS AWESOME 4PLEB!

Okay, boomer.

It's been a long while since I got any real viruses and my memory from back in the day, especially the WInXP times, is very hazy. The most recent example was from probably half a decade ago, when I accidentally, maybe due to laziness, opened some .exe without scanning it first. It might've been from a torrent, I'm not sure. Anyway, it gave me this annoying thing that wouldn't go away without a very specific procedure. It killed my anti virus and anti malware software, preventing them from even starting. I think it generally slowed everything down to a crawl, but I'm unsure if it was due to a cryptominer or simply something else. I just remember scanning the file on virustotal and searching about how to remove it online. Then I followed a specific guide, downloaded a little tool that helped remove its registry entries and such and removed it for good. I've been more cautious around executables ever since, but I'm still a lazy fucker.

The worst example that I recall, was from Win98/Me/XP days, when whatever it is I got, literally raped my OS. It wouldn't even start without system recovery. A lot of times due to my youth and naivety, I'd inadvertently repeatedly infect myself and I'd have to keep reinstalling my OS, like a total idiot. Good fucking times.

You wouldn't steal a car...

I mean.... this IS a thread about LimeWire...

I actually got worse viruses watching beast porn.

>Searching up zoo porn in 2005
>find a video of a horse fucking a guy
>maximise the video
>somehow trojan horse hijacks my sytem and installs itself
>i don't know this until after watching the video
>exit browser
>wallpaper has been changed
>"Since you like horses so much, enjoy your trojan!"
>shit bricks

i guess i was lucky but all i got was hidden porn and wrong song names. had fun accessing others directories though, back then when people didnt really give a fuck about what they were sharing

I got a 2" thick book of a lawsuit sent to be for getting caught for downloading photoshop4 on limewire.
I played dumb and I said I didn't know what happened and that my mouse might have a virus.
They mailed me another letter saying "we appreciate your innocence in this matter, but we can assure you your mouse does not have a virus"
They dropped the case and sent me a free copy of photoshop.

Lol the worst thing that happened to me was a virus that temporarily changed my MSN messenger name to the filename of whatever video i was watching. Including porn. I don't want to think about how long it must have been before I found that out..

Did this on my mom's computer lthough the porn was vanilla. Spent ages playing wack-a-mole with loads of porn site pop ups.
Oh shit, oh shit....
lol

This is basically what would happen. You dragged a window. It made infinite copies of itself.

No. No. I mean like weird viruses. The posts I was reading on Reddit sounded a lot worse than this

I remember...if the bit rate was 384kbps or more, the mp3 was just a virus. Avast protected me all the time, but once it got installed 75+ viruses at all, and the PC wasn't so fast after then..and that time I was 10 years or older, and didn't know how to reinstall Windows. :) Loved that time anyways. Even I was scared of the avast antivirus 4.8.

Evry thing is here gg/kWZf5Vm

Nothing. Never got a virus from it. Or frostwire.

If you weren't a retard and checked before downloading, you got nothing.

win.cih.32
Win95/CIH

I got the same thing with the background change, mine at least also had a screensaver of cockroaches walking all over the screen.

Tbh I used tf out of limewire and never got anything

I remember that I got tons of virus for downloading whatever shit in my family computer. To the point i couldn't even start it sometimes. I don't know what virus it was (I was a kid) but i do remember turning the computer on and automatically 30+ internet browsers opened at once and my computer was slowly dying.

Also a ton of adware with audio that scared the shit out of me as it would pop up randomly and with sound. Shortly after we had to replace the computer anyway as it was super old.

I never got a virus. But I did get some of those "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" Bill Clinton parody ads instead of the song I wanted

I was trying to download the newest album by Gorillaz so I knew how to look for files types but they still fucking got me. I individually checked each song just to find that they were all The Scatman

>I did not have sexual relations with that woman

Every other fucking song

Still haunts me to this day

This. Used Napster, WinMX, eMule, many torrents, never got a virus ever. Probably because the iffy files were super fucking obvious.

>getting infected in the first place

Kept getting background sounds playing, like a radio station. Also ads kept popping up telling me to pay money to get rid of it.

Because reddit is one big self tug. Lie for internet points

as opposed to Cred Forums where people lie for literally no fucking reason

I can’t remember if it was limewire or kazaa but I had this virus that put tonnes of icons on my desktop titled “J-lo’s ass could fit inside a tea cup”. It would also have pop ups saying “enjoy your free cup holder” and it would open up my disc drive. I wasn’t even mad.

Got some shit that changed all my bookmarks into like 100 or so pornsites. Didn't mind tho, got plenty of nice porn out of it.

OP here. Now this is more like it. See? Weird viruses like this fascinates me.
