I think that unfortunately certain aspects of racism are simply part of how our brains operate. Any one else who is not us is "other" and thus must be analysed to determine if they are a threat; and if they are found to be a potential threat, defensive barriers (e.g segregation) and also offensive behaviour (as a form of pre-emptive defence or as a simple consequence/expression of fear) are a natural consequence.

However; humans are able to live in groups, tribes and societies together in order and relative peace and at least in some form of harmony. With those that we trust the most, we come to love as friends, family, or the wider family called "community"

Therefore, though division will always be part of human life, some harmony and friendship can be found even if some division remains.

But it must be acheived by being brave, reaching out, and cultivating mutual trust. Then after comes interaction, conversation, understanding, identifying with others; community and friendships begin to form.

It requires bravery and conversation; and I think that's something that's very hard to do right now, not just in the US but in many places around the world right now, as many people are more polarised (not only politically but in many spheres), distrustful and suspiciously hiding in their own silos. And that's an issue that happens in between peoples in the white race right now- let alone between white and other.

It's not particularly an environment that encourages conversation and healing..
