Win10 is not solid, it'S got a NT kernel, dual configuration UIs, and it's allways updating when you need the computer most. I use Linux Mint and am very happy with it. my PC is two years old now and it's still booting and working as on the first day. Windows gets every time slower.
Sure, I have to cope with some problems, but at least I didn't pay for it.
I stopped using microsoft products as the Windows 98SE support ended. then I switched to Linux and I don't regret it.
At work I'm bound to Win10 and all it's crap that's making me aggressive

Linux dosn't clog up with bloatware, it's not suffering from HDD fouling, it's not spying, you have full control of EVERYTHING.
Wine and Mono are options, but it's hard to get more complex programs running.
for the regular work (office, music, video, electronics engineering, codeing, SDR, and so on) you get a well good set of free and open software that just works fine. Valve STEAM also offers your games as Linux compatible.
My problem is, that the software of test equipment or PLC (Siemens), also proprietary IDEs for microcontrollers are only running on Win.

the best thing for you would be to inform yourselve what subcategories exist in your country and which fits your interrests most.
as an "elektroniker für gebäude und energietechnik" you won't be teached the stuff necessary to design or repair an appliance, but you will know what kind of fuses you will have to put in a building or what distance your power outlet has to have from a sink. In my job I also do know this, but I dont have to use the knowledge because I'm doing other stuff

yeah i've did a tiny bit of research, its split into a few categories, the main difference is how much voltage i'm allowed to work with, also, in order to be able to work on houses i need to study for around a year, and in order to work at stuff like power plants and up to 750,000 volts i need to study for around 2 years more, if i recall correctly, though i plan on sticking to the simpler route if i do decide to go with it
i mean i was torn between that, and becoming a computer electrician, though i've also thought about taking chemistry

indeed, there's so many different types of chemistry routes, some are not that dangerous, or not dangerous if you aren't an idiot, but the downside being that it takes around 4 years of studying, or atleast for some routes, second downside being math, which i'm not too great at, i'm just afraid it won't be my passion when i get to it, i care more about what i enjoy doing rather than the actual pay
