To answer the question, I'd say white racists exist because it's easy for them to. Think about it; all humans look for either higher meaning in life or for something/someone to blame for their lives not going as they wanted them too. Racism is really low hanging fruit when it comes to blame because it's easy to fear and hate what we don't understand. Mix that with the fact that racial tensions have been intentionally fueled for centuries in order to keep certain groups poor so that other groups can prosper, and you have ideal conditions for reactionary racism and hate. The average oppressor can not understand the oppressed because they've been told they simply don't have to; this dehumanizes the oppressed in the oppressors eyes making it easier to blame them for their own condition.

The greed of long since dead men and the irrational fear of the unknown are why white racists exist.
