When I think of something, I can vaguely see it in my mind but it goes away, I can't really see it in the black of my eyelid. Sometimes though when I'm laying down trying to sleep, if I focus for sometime, I can sometimes eventually see pictures like it's in front of me, but it's hard to keep it there for more than a second or two. When I smoke weed and do it, I can sometimes replace the blackness of my eyelid with bigger pictures but not covering the whole vision. One time when I Smoked a lot after an MDMA session, I could see all my thoughts, hundreds of them racing in front of me, instead of blackness, I could think of a face, and it would appear before me in detail. I remember imagining a bunch of different faces, but the only specific one I can think of now is Arnold Schwarzenegger, that was funny. I thought about a beach, snowy landscapes, deserts, and they filled up my whole vision in full HD, like it was snowing, I could see the waves crash upon the beach and shit.

This is me but instead of pictures it is words, and I slowly build these words into what I would describe as an apple. Not see, but rather describe. I can describe and "see" an apple in the sense that in the complete blackness of my eyes closed I can describe with the words that I have accumulated with that word. So when I think of the word its not like a lego star wars charecter creation where there are select images that come into one when all are brought out or through. For me its more as if you took a cross word puzzle and you find the things in the space section for space ships and you can process what a space ship is due to the words that correlate with that I'm trying to think.

I can describe what that would look like, and can think of all the things in the monk episode in which he goes into a clean room. But it is not a image or something I "see." Its still just black with the exception of the lights of my monitors seeping through. I can fully describe every bit of it, but its not like i see (see picture) for when I think of an apple or white room. same here, read tons of books when i was a kid and i think reading is the key to imagining stuff simply because you're forced to imagine everything from words and at some point your mind is able to construct thoughts on its own.
For me it's not like the object i'm trying to imagine is surrounded by blackness, it's more like a short snippet of a movie scene. for example when i thought about spaceships i imagined an industrial looking freighter, with cargo holds along it's hull, tanks scattered over the whole ship, a comfy looking bridge, flying by with stars and planets in the background.

Its a VERY vague notion of space for me, but its there.
I also have thoughts organized spatially a little bit too, like, in the darkness behind my vision. Kind of like when you're trying to remember something and you turn your head and eyes in a certain direction? Again, its a very vague notion. A lot of my memories are also very spatial. I recall the place that I was sitting or standing within a room or space when I remember stuff, not just visuals but dialogue too.

Probably both. Some people, a very very small amount, like less than 1/10th of a percent, have extreme difficulty with internal dialogue and those people most certain have diagnose learning disorders, like extreme versions of dyslexia. But even they have internal dialogue.
Things like language impossible without it. Some birds can mimic words, but actually stringing them together into a sentence requires internal dialogue.
If you see someone ask "what language do bilingual people speak in", you'll see everyone understands what the question means, and no one dissents or objects to the idea of "thinking" in a particular language.

What I meant though, is I visualises more like how the author would put it down. So when I read things about characters I did not see them in my head or see movies clips, as you do, but rather I took those words and put them in the folder for Gandalf. I could never see Gandalf, but I knew characteristics from the authors writing, and I used those words to compare with visual things outside of imagination. So when I thought of Gandalf before the movies came out, I thought of "shorter in stature than the other two; but his long white hair, his sweeping silver beard, and his broad shoulders, made him look like some wise king of ancient legend. In his aged face under great snowy brows his eyes were set like coals that could suddenly burst into fire." These words that Tolkien wrote of Gandalf were not instantly created into a character in my head. But rather I used it and compared to real world things, and by that I took them in all together and had a black image with words written in black that I could only hear. So these words would come to mind when I read Gandalf and I would recall all the descriptions of him.

I really havent read the books sense I was a child. So I would say the Movies, sense I have watched them all probably more than ten times. I could describe any scene that you tell me about. If you said, imagine Uruk-hai running through the forest. I cant see in front of me them but I know what there faces look like, the forest looks like and all.
