So you can keep things plugged in but choose when the power is on or not.

Fag

or or or you could just turn them of? srsly, am an eurofag who is visiting but why?

So that our kids don't stick a fork in there and kill themself you fuck knuckle.

Then again if you're in america your kid is off shooting its sister in the face with an uzi anyway

semi-decent; giles corey beats it any day, hell, even marcy playground beats this. actually early marina beats it. but alright tunes, appreciated

By unplugging them? Who want's wires hanging around on the floor?
Why have things laying around when they can be plugged in but just switched off.

Not only that but it is safer.

this. I'd rather get an electric shock than stand bare foot on a uk plug

I literally never heard of anyone rarted enough to do that. I share you sentiment against america, but how about you start using big brain europe sockets which don't shock you?

Erm, toddlers?
And yes let's just change every socket in the country, that'll be nice and quick and cheap and easy.

no, by maybe pushing the 'off' button? I mean I get it if folks from manchester or glasgow don't make the connection but I would believe rest of you folks should

did you know they still use lead plubming lol

I live in the US and all my outlets have switches, I didn’t know this was a Euro thing.

>pierced nipples

Name of the related tits?

It makes their sockets look less big and useless, because they fucking are. Atrociously big, like a retard designed them.

in europe we don't have them; I was genuinely surprised by it

is some model probably from zishy based on style. look on their pages.

we need larger plugs/sockets to cope with our manful 220 volt mains electricity you can only get away with little prong things if you have feminine 110 volt stuff

I bet you were genuinely surprised by Brexit too.
It's about progress.

like eu generally runs between 220 and 240 V on mains. nowhere except uk i have seen switches. i am pretty sure if switches saved infants and made orange man good, all of europe would be using them.

your kids are that dumb?
why you hinder the natural seletion, they will die drinking bleach / laundry detergents or end as a roadkill, drown in a glass of water or whatever.

nah, was clueless and couldn't care one way or the other; except business stays I don't spend time in the country and don't really discuss politics with clients. I just wonder about sockets.

>Implying everything has an off button

This is why switches exist on everything.

Some things don't just turn off without being unplugged.
Rice cookers are a common one.

Plugging / unplugging a live appliance also causes excessive wear inside the socket as you get arcs that burn away metal each time

Im just here for pic related :)

The only electronic device that I own wit without an off switch is my refrigerator.

reddit.com/r/adorableporn/comments/a68k1a/big_smile_big_boobs/

but the price is VERY high

And in Britain the plug for the fridge is not switched (to prevent accidental switch off)

Nicee thanks

Almost everything these days doesn't turn off, it goes into standby.
A tv for example, uses 20% power when in standy

Because some older stuff doesn't have an off switch. Or you stuff where you turn it off and it doesn't actually go off.

That still doesn't explain the rest of your outlets having switches.

its mostly a safety thing the plugs are also fused and we have residual current device circuit breakers in the ring main consumer units 220 volts needs a bit more thought

The number of ignorant millennial in this thread is amazing.

In the United States, older houses typically did not have ceiling lights. Therefore they had one or two outlets in each room, that were turned on by a wall switch. This allowed you to turn on a table lamp when entering the room, to provide light.

After roofing technology greatly improved, making it safer to have lighting in the ceiling, Then ceiling lights and paddle fans with built in lights, became popular, the reason to have a wall switch that turned on an outlet, went away.

One would have expected England to have done the same by now, except they still have thatched roofs and shit for shingles, so sounds like they decided to stay with table lamps since they are safer if the roof is leaking or there isn't a crawl space in the attic to make it easy to run the wires.

It should consume much less than 20% in standby.

Europe (or maybe it's just England) seems to also take that extra step towards safety.
Like, I also noticed that contacts of their plugs come covered in dielectric material except for the tip, just so you are safe if your finger accidentaly touches the base of the contacts while unplugging something.

We have a separate ring main for the lighting (5 amp circuit beaker) a ring main for the sockets and a separate wire for the cooker new builds often have a 12 volt circuit for the led lighting
