Eg Stability helps give families a more secure environment avoiding compounding social problems that will impact through generations. It can help stop people spiralling into debt or depression and help them get out of the benefits system long term and start contributing financially through employment, tax, purchasing power etc.

I can earn up to something like 42kUS dollars before my tax threshold increases (40%) and only pay the higher rate on income above that amount. Yes, there are multiple taxes on the same dollar. But simplified - if you earn under $20k USD, you wouldn't pay income tax. Only sales tax on your purchases. Over $20k, also a tax on your income. We already do that in theory, but rich people can itemize their income tax and end up paying none. I think that is unacceptable. You earn a dollar, you get a tax on that income. And the same goes for corporations, they earn a billion, they pay a flat tax on it. No escaping it. Too many big companies not only escape taxes, but get subsidized. Capitalism dictates all entities are treated equally. If they can't survive on their business model, they fail and go away. Or learn from their mistakes and streamline, become more efficient. A government giving money to a company that is designed to create a private profit is unnatural in a capitalist structure.

It really depends on how high the federal tax is in relation to how high the income tax would be right? If it ends up being the same dollar amount then it doesn't make a difference. I think sales tax version is just more efficient. It probably wouldn't effect most people in the middle, it would eliminate the whole idea of "tax shelters" and having teams of lawyers funneling income. It would likely tax the really rich more, and would also get people who pay zero income tax to contribute.

I think it's fundamentally important for people to be financially invested in the Republic. If some have to pay taxes, everyone should. I don't like the idea of half of Americans paying no income tax for example, and then voting for politicians who want to spend more. It's not democratic.

1. A sales tax doesn't need to be regressive. Most states create variable taxes based on what is being purchased. Food can be taxed lower or not at all depending, while luxury items could be taxed higher.

2. How the fuck is income tax stimulating the economy or technology? Any tax is hindering people. Period. If you want to talk purity, I'm against taxes. I think an ideal government would have only voluntary donations and service based fees. But we have a real country with real laws and real people. If using sales taxes just hypothetically brought in 20% more income to the government because the government doesn't need to spend as much money calculating and collecting it, as well as the super wealthy and corporations paying more to the government, and the poor paying a little but spread out over many people, how exactly would that slow down tech companies versus income tax?
