Yo Cred Forums, I live in las vegas now and I wanna know how to play the casinos to actually come up some dough (at least more than not). Anyone have any winning strategies? To my understanding craps and baccarat have the best player to house odds but I'm a brainlet and craps kinda scares me. Send halp
Dumping from my huge meme folder in the meantime, love love bros
Gambling in casinos is not a good way to earn money. If you truly want to gamble, spend years learning the theory and then do it in real tournaments instead.
I don't necessarily want to *earn* money, I just work by like 7 casinos so I figure I should try to scoop up on comps or something at the least. Tbh my main goal is to scoop up on free drinks on my friday nights, I just want to maximize gains while I'm at it. 4/?
Card counting isn't for brainlets. Statistically the house almost always has the advantage and even if you play perfectly you will never reach an advantage of more than a couple percent.
Plus, casinos will always be watching for card counters and generally will take action against them in some form.

Related to that point, I know they measure you by your average daily trip value and know to use the players card on big trips if you want to get sent free play and comp offers. 5/?
Unless you know what you're doing you will basically always lose money by gambling. At best you will break even, but that will be rare. Casinos aren't the place to go if you want to succeed.
If you really wanted to, you could do like I said and spend time studying gambling statistics and theories, and spend even more time practicing the games. There is no shortcut or secret technique, you just have to be good.

I'm aware of that, I've been working here for a few months and I see them goad players into bad bets or higher bids when they try to leave a table. I deal with trying to sell shit to the drunk tourists on the daily so I feel like declining their bad suggestions shouldn't be hard, the real problem is counting only kinda works and it varies game to game. They're legally required to publish statistically correct odds when asked, but the numbers are crunched in their favor. 6/?
That's kinda what I'm hoping to gleam from help here, I'm obviously not expecting a crash couse in game theory, but more a push in the right direction. ?/?
In Vegas? If they suspect you of card counting, they can just forbid you from playing. It's not a matter of resisting suggestion; if they want you out, you're out.
Pick one game and stick to it. Play it a lot, and study your wins and losses. Spend a little time researching the statistics of the game. Watch professionals playing and see what decisions they make. The best way to get good is just to play, and to know when to stop playing. Be modest with your money; play it online for free, maybe.

You know the philosophy of “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?”
Start abiding and keep your stupid fucking threads to yourself. You want to make money? Start sucking cock, because you’re obviously a faggot.

To anyone at all invested, I know the odds are literally stacked against me at every point, my main goal is to get the come-up in comps or drinks along the way. I'm just trying to find the best way to "beat" the casino in that regard. 9/?
The pass is the best, but in the end, you're hoping the shooter a rolls a point. And then rolls the point again, before rolling a 7.. its fucked. Bet big and hope the shooter rolls fire. Blackjack would really be your best bet, roulette play red or black. And if you want to have the most control over your game, learn to play Texas hold em, or Omaha.

one of my buddies that works at Caesars Palace told me that the casinos intentionally pump fresh oxygen into the vents so people can inhale that and feel jacked up to keep playing
FActs. I've been pulled aside by pit bosses and they tell you that you can't change your bet for each shoe you play. They pick up on counters maxing bets on rich decks in a heartbeat. Card counting is as easy as remembering the appearance and remainders of faces, aces, and numbers. Easy but not gonna be reliable source of income.

Sheit, good to know. I kind of figured with it being player against player and the house getting barely shit off it. Know if any other table games have a similar stigma or is it just poker?
Omaha is poker like hold em, only slightly different. Instead of 2 hole cards, you get 4. And you must use 2 to complete your 5 card hand... it is usually a pot limit game.

Omaha PL and HL are so fuckin brutal. PRetty much if you don't have the nuts, you're in bad shape lmao. I've got felted on the bubble 3 times during Omaha tourneys, and one was a payout of $12,400 on the first cash. I got donked so bad too, the anger was real that day.

I was in Vegas a month ago and won a poker tournament at Planet Hollywood. The poker players there were beyond bad. I am sure a gambling nobody like you could compete if you take a bit of time to learn.
Poker in general is a love/hate relationship for me.. you're going to run into shit players that seemingly hit every one outter they hope for, its shit, but in the end you had your money in the pot when you were ahead, and well ahead in most cases. Over time though, you should see that you'll profit more than your lose

Damn son, shucks you didn't smoke 'em
I'm defintitely going to take the time to learn poker then kek
They use like 6 decks so card counting doesn't necessarily work, and if they suspect you of doing it they'll kick you out and ban you and let every other casino in the strip know to be aware of you. It's Vegas, casinos aren't built on winners. The only way to win is to not play.

They only give you comps when you're spending enough money to where it isn't a loss for them.
Blake Thompson
They have no windows either so you can't tell what time of day it is without checking the time
Connor Clark
Yes technically, but they generally own the room/rent the stage for the show/whatever theyre getting it for waaaay less than it's valued for at purchase, essentially making it a deal factoring in the alcohol given while at tables. I'm not looking to *win* per sae, but get shit to burn my time with on the weekends and feel like I at least broke even. But hell who knows, someone *does* have to win the jackpot eventually. Idk mane
There are particular bets on particular games that only have a 1% or lower house take. Play those bets on those games.
A friend of mine who would occasionally get flown out to casinos told me that they care about how much you bet over time, not how much you lose. So if you play the right games with the right bets, you can earn a decent return on house comps.
Be careful, you sound like you're new at this and different tables in the same casino can have different rules for any particular game. So it's not enough to just play poker, you have to play poker with particular payouts and particular dealer behavior. This also assumes you know the odds for each bet and can engage in perfect play.

Oh, and go down to the "Guide to House Edge" and "Element of Risk" sections on that page.
It looks like Blackjack with Atlantic City Rules, or Spanish 21 are your games to play.
Xavier Thompson
Although according to the table at the bottom of that page "Hands per Hour, House Edge for Comp Purposes", casinos know all this and provide comps at a different rate depending on the game's house edge. So.

Fellow vegasfag here. This thread is based, gambling mostly yields losers and the only way to win is to not play. Only the gambling addicts win anything big since it's a numbers game and they spend all their free time playing.
