I learned to make copies or store stuff in protected areas because I tend to do a lot of reformating of windows. In the past few years windows 10 has stayed fairly sane after a year, but before that my windows installs suffered performance issues after 6-8 months, and I usually formatted the boot drive with the new install. That made me go through my downloads/docs/pics folder regularly.

No backup, no excuse.

you didnt ask for the cheapest. Locally I keep 2 copies on 2 different usb drives. Like my anime, ive got a lot now so I have 4 2tb drives. That will help with drive failures but if the house burns, i'll be subscribing for the 300mbit internet for a while. ^^
