Regular ice cube trays take up very little space, and using them is no hassle at all. But the automatic ice cube mechanism takes up lots of freezer real estate and you need to connect it to the plumbing and buy filters for it, it's a bigger hassle than convinience.

I have a French door with a water dispenser on the left. It's nice, but I had to have the light assembly replaced twice. It's an LG, and even though it got good reviews, they're known for shoddy electronics in their appliances.
