How does the flintstones car drive? Both it's axels are solid pieces of stone. One massive solid stone axel, there is no differential allowing the inside of the wheel to turn slower than the outside. This combined with the fact that the wheel is a giant stone cylinder means once its moving it would have so much momentum that it would be impossible for even someone with caveman strength to get it to change direction. And lets not even talk about getting it to stop. The flintstones car is a lie.

Well, its a cartoon. So the characters and props do whatever the animators want. You kind of have to suspend disbelief in cartoons because they sometimes go beyond the boundaries of physics or common human abilities, but that is part of what makes them enjoyable.
