Our atmosphere is gaseous, we can explore it aren't we? You'd just reach a point in any gas giant atmosphere where assuming you don't get crushed under tons of atmospheric pressure and cooked alive from the temperature, you'd reach buoyancy and that would stop your progress any further. Thing is, gases start to act more like liquids here on earth when they reach a certain pressure.
