I think they just dropped it out of fear because of how outlandish their stories are. I think my first seeds of doubt towards the holocaust were planted when as a freshman in highschool I read "Night" by Eli Weisel. Reading the story and them talking about German soldiers throwing Jewish babies into the air and using them as machine gun targets, or the part where they had mine carts that fed people straight into furnaces. Their claims are so outlandish its hilarious.

I think the thing about the so called survivors are that over the years, they've basically become encouraged to come out with these otherwise unbelievable claims in order to be under the spotlight and get money. Not only that, you can see in media interviews with "survivors" they clearly push the people towards a certain narrative. I think over many years of these people being pushed towards this particular narrative, and thinking of more and more peculiar stories, they themselves start to believe that it actually happened to them. I have a few videos of people from Steven Speilberg's own show documenting the holocaust showing people who talk about they had orchestras, daycare, soccer teams, grand pianos, swimming pools, all at Auschwitz.

There's many different ways to indisputably prove that mass executions took place for an extended period of time. Attempts to poke holes in that with " those numbers are inaccurate" or "this story of one incident proved to be false" fail
to acknowledge that an an attempted genocide still took place and that's all that needs to be proven. If your question is "Did it happen?". Yes it did, and that is not debatable. If your question is "how many died" or "what exactly happened" you're going to have to do some research because those are complicated questions. Anybody suggesting that it didn't happen cannot be taken seriously under any circumstances. Nobody could fabricate this much evidence.

The Nazis did do human soap experiments and patented related technology, but they never implemented it on an industrial scale. The rumor was spread by the Germans themselves at the time to frighten and terrorize concentration canon prisoners.
