If you're into live music of any kind, theatre, art galleries, etc Minneapolis is pretty boss. At least it was 10 years ago, I assume it still is. Milwaukee is great if you just like to drink.

I lived out in Portland Oregon for a year just recently until I had to return to Illinois due to a family emergency. I fucking miss it so much. People are much more open minded and accepting. Everyone lives in a bubble here in the midwest.
