As a customer, I am coming to your restaraunt to pay for the food you are serving me. I am not there to pay your salary. That's your corporations problem. As retarded as I think tipping is, the standard average tip is socially considered to be at least %15. So on a $65 dinner, the tip "should" be around $10.

I'll tip that much if I really like the service. If it's okay service without hassle, I'll throw in $3-5 bucks. Only time I won't tip is if the server is an incompetent asshole.

It is partially, but fast food competition makes them try to drive down prices, while still making sure the owners make decent profits. So really the food should be like 15% more expensive and they should just pay servers minimum wage. Then tips could be actual tips and not some stupid fucking social contract based on our good will.
