The problem with AVGN is that what is retro has changed and he doesn't understand it anymore. When AVGN started these NES games were ~15 years old. Now the gamecube is around 15 years old. The retro game content people now look for for their nostalgia is gamecube/ps2 era. And he is too old now to understand that nostalgia. He could try to fake it but it would be easily seen through. Even with Majora's Mask, an N64 game, you could see he just didn't get it.

AVGN is long passed its prime. James only good content these days are when its just him, being himself talking about something he's passionate about.

That episode was great apart from the lengthy guitar guy segments. It's not that they were bad, it's that there were too many of them and most of them dragged on and on and on. Have fewer of them and cut them down a bit and it would have been fine.
