Is it possible that in the beginning it was just the two of them? Also when they met Garnet it was just Rose and Pearl, in Garnet's own words "Rose and her terrifying renegade Pearl". She spoke of Pearl as if she was Rose's possession.

I don't think there is any reason to assume she wasn't Rose's pearl. It would also explain her complete devotion to her despite Rose never answering her feelings and going around being with other men.

That is the thing though. We know that Pearl came to Earth one day and she was amazed by the Earth. What we don't know, though, is who was her master at the time. It could have been a random gem, it could have even been Pink Diamond. What we know for sure is that she didn't belong to Rose at the moment of her arrival. Rose was made on Earth, she already knew the Earth so she wouldn't have been amazed to find out about Earth. So I'm just going to assume that sometime during Pearl's stay on Earth, she was reassigned a new master; Rose. And that explains why Rose would give Pearl the choice to leave Earth or stay there with her.

Beta going online makes a lot more sense if it happened BEFORE Bismuth got poofed.

She seemed to imply that at the time that she created the Breaking Point, the Crystal Gems were losing the war, and that the Breaking Point was created to turn the tide and give the CGs a much-needed age against Homeworld's numbers and ruthlessness... which would seem to fit in with the Crystal Gems suddenly facing an onslaught of Beta soldiers, especially Jasper.

That also fits more closely with what Pearl describes in the episode. Bismuth disappeared 5300 years ago. Beta was started about halfway through the conflict with the Crystal Gems. If the CGs were already rebelling 5700 years ago, and the war ended about 5000 years ago, then Beta would have gone online about 5300-5400 years ago, right when Bismuth got poofed.

It's possible, but I'm not sure about exactly where the "1000 year war" started.

At the 5,750 year mark, they were considered a small rebellion and it seemed to be mainly Rose and Pearl, maybe Bismuth.

The fucking huge ass war we've seen in the episodes, and the sheer scale of gems we saw in the Cluster, implies that they grew exponentially sometime after The Answer.

And again, in the guidebook, Pearl very specifically calls out "5,500 years ago" for when they fought for Earth.
Unless something major comes up to contradict it, I'm pretty sure the war officially began at that point, 5,500 years ago, and the stuff prior wasn't considered part of the 1000 years.

I figured something similar to this as well. Fed a lion/lion(s) the shards. PD can't heal completely, but now lives the way that centipeedle does, but as a lion. Memories, but inability to express them, hence Lion's awareness of Steven's needs.

There are times when it looks like it's shaded grey, but others like pic related where it's clearly shaded with a pink color.

This kind of shit is what I don't like about SU. I get that the show is supposed to be a slice of Steven's life. I get that not every episode needs to be packed with action or lore or advance the plot in some way. But why the HOLY FUCK are we spending time with fucking townies when we should be spending time with the PRIMARY CAST.

Could have had a shitload of episodes about Steven helping Peridot and Lapis get over their issues and bond, leading to how we saw them in Beta. Instead, we get YET ANOTHER episode of Lars being a piece of shit that goes nowhere.

Could have had more episodes of Jasper being an antagonist to lock in her character and make her reveal in Earthlings actually mean something. Instead, we get Kiki Pizza -a character who has had maybe four or five lines since the show began that nobody gives a shit about- having painfully uninteresting adventures in dreamland.

Could have had some DESPERATELY NEEDED character development episodes for fucking Garnet, instead we get a painful clip show, Mr. Smiley being a boring gay douche, and affirmation that yes indeed Onion is still Steven's friend.

As we've seen with Garnet, gems are perfectly capable of changing their hair color. Pearl's gem is white but her hair is pink, what I get from this is that she used to belong to the white diamond faction but sometime during her existence was transferred to the pink diamond faction which required her to have her hair color changed.

Like, pic related is another instance where I swear it seems very clearly pink shaded to me.

But throwing it and that other example into photoshop pulls it up as being just a hair off of white and in the more purple range.

I think it may be some kind of color balance thing where her white face and orange/pink hair outlining it is making it seem more strongly pink to me.

The writing was good in late season 1 and early season 2. Not great, but good. It still has its moments, but to be honest, the only reason I still watch is because I like the main characters. They're not doing themselves a favor by not focusing on them.
