TELL ME ALL ABOUT SOLICITS

GRUUUUUUU

>those predictable as fuck CW2 spoilers

i hope seeley shits on bludhaven

also wew, this thread

THE RIDE NEVER ENDS.

Solicits rocked. I think Mark Waid is writing comics just for me. Kang/Vision War, Bucky/Natasha, that weird Kooky Quartet book

was hoping for better collections tho

I'm still really curious to see if DC just lets Earth 2 and JSA go together or if they'll cancel E2 for JSA.

I'm not fucking clicking on that

IT WAS LOOKING SO PROMISING

THEN VAL FRONT AND CENTER

FML

Gamora looks like it mite b good. I think there was one other book I was interested in there but I can't remember.

Other than that LOL CIVIL WAR and that Foolkiller book is not going to be anything like what we read, RIP.

Can anyone here remember a 90s/early 2000s issue where Superman gets punched so hard he ends up in China? It ends with the villain saying something like "I $#**# killed Superman!" and Supes saying "ow."

Help me anons, you're my best resource for obscure issues.

>Seeley shitting on everything "classic" Nightwing fans like

can't wait until the "fingerstripes were a mistake" arc

I like the concept of it as an Atlantic City casino town. Nightwing should have somewhere flashy, not a knockoff Gotham for a knockoff Batman.

Hello Storyteller.

>TELL ME ALL ABOUT SOLICITS
The solicit for Batgirl is fucking hilarious. It implies that Poison Ivy attacking people is odd and possibly out of character. I wish I was joking.

Also, She-Borg. Either DC completely forgot that Cyborgirl exists, or this chick exists solely for Victor to fuck.

I'm pretty sure they'll cancel it but I hope they leave the Earth in kind of an ok place to use later for crossovers and shit at least.

People will literally bitch at this for not being main universe in-ongoing stories.

cmon look at this

that alex ross Kangs cover is also A++++

this desu
I wouldn't mind Dick getting stuck in some city if it were actually tailored to him and the writing was pretty good, but old Bludhaven is like the opposite of where Dick should be.

Seeley is such a disappointment for me...

> Paul Ryan

RIP 2016

I just want Foolkiller to be moderately interesting and a bit off-kilter, I don't expect anything like maximum Gerber amazingness

The Hawkeye solicit crossed the line from eye-rolling into teeth-grinding for me. There's IMO an issue wherein writers are trying to compensate for how women have been expected to be emotional supports and second-fiddle to male characters in predictable ways, and they end up writing asshole sociopaths.

I saw the Ivy League flooding Larson's tweets

I like to think that DC Editorial warns anyone who writes Ivy about the Twitter loons you're going to get begging you for things

Wouldn't be surprised if someone eventually goes through and counts up how many of the creators aren't straight to say it's not enough

That's great

You're damn right to not click on it, the thread is a dumpster fire

Salt. >The DC Comics statistics for direct market sales for August 2016 showed them dominating DC Comics.
>And it is a remarkable turnaround for DC Comics to dominate sales so, especially on far fewer published comics than Marvel.
>But how did DC get there, how did it achieve figures in excess of the New 52 relaunch, and what likelihood is there that they can keep it up? And how should Marvel feel?

>It’s become less experimental, more conservative and less diverse. And I don’t just mean regarding ethnicity, gender or sexuality – although that is an issue.

>Rather than having 52 ongoing main continuity titles, DC Comics has but 29 – but a number of them ship twice a month. The rest are different imprints or mini-series. And as the old favorites are concentrated on, Batman, Superman, Justice League and new Suicide Squad characters, this means an absolute lack of anything vaguely experimental.

>It is the most conservative line-up that either DC or Marvel have ever shown. DC Comics does have Vertigo, Young Animal and the Hanna Barbera line, but DC Rebirth is incredibly homogeneous, especially considering the titles that DC had published of late.

>But it has worked. While Marvel Comics is diversifying the tone and feel of the line, aiming for future new audiences, with Squirrel Girl, Patsy Walker, Deadpool, The Vision, Moon Girl and more, DC Comics has, at a push, Harley Quinn and Green Arrow. While Marvel mixes it up with Riri Williams, Jane Foster, Miles Morales, Amadeus Cho, Iceman and Angela, DC Comics brings back the old married Superman and the young married Wally West. They are doubling down on the nostalgia.

>And then shipping it twice a month.

>It’s a cynical approach, it’s a conservative approach, it’s a move against experimentation and a return to the comfort zone. And it is kicking everyone’s collective arses.

Why is everyone suddenly hating on Bludhaven?

At least the Poison Ivy League are already triggered. Acting like they're best buddies when even in N52 BoP they were at each others' throats because she's fucking evil.

Jesus

That cover is great but I need to see Waid is writing the book and it's good before I buy in on any of it.

Marvel's cycling through some weird stuff just now huh. Big Squadron Supreme push, that failed, now a Deadpool supporting cast push, soon a Guardians push.

>"Four Days." part one! After Deathstroke's family is shattered, Slade recalls the first time he and Wintergreen worked together -- on a mission that changed both of their lives forever.
>he and Wintergreen
>changed both their lives forever
You people have fucking ruined me on these two I swear to god

>I saw the Ivy League flooding Larson's tweets

Fuck I saw that shit. They are crazy.

Dixonwing isn't really liked here in general.

...

>Hop into the time machine with me and go back to 1989!

By your logic, OP, this comic is a baby.

>pic

nice

Is there any other DC character with a "league" like this? The rabid Ivy fans are so weird to me.

Because it's boring. "Gotham but even worse lel". and Nigthwing in Bludhaven was full of mediocre/bad stories.

Oh my god that's cute! CUTE!

the Stucky fans are up in arms already, I love it

Yeah, I didn't read N52 BoP, so I dunno how it was done.

I didn't really know comics existed when this came out

I have always hated Bludhaven.

>Young Animal, Vertigo, Hanna Barbera, and the more fringe Rebirth books like New Super-Man don't exist now

It seems sudden cause Bludhaven is now a topic of discussion where before the most you'd get from people about Dixon/Grayson Nightwing was "so bland" and "what the fuck Devin" and maybe a "it's good" here and there

i was sold just on Kate in LA, i didn't need more. and i've started enjoying Kelly Thompson's stuff

not wrong...

>The Hawkeye solicit crossed the line from eye-rolling into teeth-grinding for me.
I mean it's a solicit, it's not like I'm normally blown away by their careful regard to tone and taste. It bugs me because like a take on a character which I really enjoyed and think has more depth than the current one is being overwritten without any regard whatsoever. Nobody on this current side of things even acknowledges what went before for Hawkeye and Ivy much.

> Cary Nord
Neat they put a good artist on Deathstroke, unless DC pulls a Valiant and pairs him with an ugly colorist

I don't know how you can talk about that book without talking about it. It's so blatent

where are the stucky people for me to yell at for being so wrong.

>tfw saw Poison Ivy League shilling the mini on unrelated reponses they tweeted

Characterfags were a mistake.

Other thing Marvel: the covers for Moon Knight and Scarlet Witch continue to be on point, and they FINALLY got it right for Unworthy Thor's cover.

Oh for fucks sake. I'm just gonna post this and get it over with.

The Lois fans don't have a name, but they're scarier.

I don't like Cary Nord on interiors. I prefer the kind of boring but serviceable current artist.

>Dickfags on tumblr
>multiple characterfags on CBR
>Loisfags in general

...

Thank you user. Based waller

Remember when a group of Dickfags from tumblr tried to "discuss" things with Seeley over twitter

...

That stuff never really bugs me because it seems tongue in cheek? But I get it.

anyway Clint's road tripping

His fault for being an idiot and engaging them.

Hey he learned his lesson and almost deleted his account until farting pet videos stopped him

H.E.A.T

fucking marlel...

Make the hurting stop

He had the patience of a saint

I don't deserve this.

...

Wasted Oportunity .

Why do you even LIKE a villain if you want them to be written entirely differently to how they are?

>Hey he learned his lesson
Tim "I'm not a black girl so I shouldn't write black girl characters" Seeley? On the contrary, he didn't learn a lesson unless by "learned his lesson" you mean he let outside forces influence his decisions.

Are these not the same Capt Marvel/Rick Jones SHAZAM bracelets?

I am honestly not versed enough in 70s/80s Marvel to say.

Probably projecting themselves and their views on them

Those Feminist Jason Todd people in tumblr are like this too

Normally I can't deal with main characters who have an insecurity complex at all, but I guess mixing it up with chosen cosmic hero is unusual.

Latino and Bi.

It's kind of "We like the design and we want to change her into this idealized heroine we can identify with on some levels"

btw fuck this Waifu Academy event, fuck it in the ass and not in the fun way

How is Feminist Jason Todd taking the new RHATO book actually?

No those are the Nega bands, these are the Quantum ones

I love the idea of Woke Jason Todd but not for the reasons they do.

>that thread is under autosage
>also posted BC link

It seems they're into the environmental angle and are too lazy to look for characters that are actually heroes.

sure ok.

waid did some great stuff with them in ANAD.

Damn it, Ewing needs to stop reading comics and start armwrestling, get Songbird back.

Mostly "la la it doesn't exist, let me wallow in more headcanon"

It's an interesting flip-side to the GL style of cosmic willpower

Let me guess
>"Go back to tumblr sjws"
>Company wars
>Something something pandering
>Cred Forums
>More company wars

OH SHIT

>the Stucky fans are up in arms already, I love it

I completely missed this, unusual amount of solicit butthurt this month I guess

You missed page 5

It is at least believable that a boy named Wendell might be insecure.

I'm happy the Blue Lanterns are coming back

>THEN VAL FRONT AND CENTER
yeah that cover was really disappointing

>Feminist Jason Todd
Shit like this makes it all the more satisfying to see Jason get bullied by Artemis. And this isn't a "HUUR TUMBLR" thing. It's that Jason has always been a easily bullied fuccboi, and never has he displayed any feminist tendencies.

And no, preferring not to fight a woman doesn't count. That's not feminism, it's just stupid.

Any of you been reading any good stuff from some small publisher? Not a huge fan of the industry right now...

awwww, fuck. Sorry!

it's strange my reaction is to yell at him to stop whining. it's pretty OK you don't wanna kill people, enjoy the SHIELD desk job. really.

have you read any green lanterns? Humpries has been doing some great stuff with Jessica and anxiety and being a GL

:(

Is this as Quasar.png as I think it's gonna be?

Hey OP.

Misty Knight is apparently the new Captain America. Patriarchy is as over as racism.

I haven't actually read any of it yet

page 13, sorry about missing the page

OH, that Hulk solicit...why have they taken the serious women and made them goofy, and now they take the put-together professional and make her an angstbucket?

i thought it was some storytelling dealie to cut out the actual fight...

no but SPX just happened so i bet there's some good reports of stuff outta it.

This is worse. Dont click. >In December, DC Comics and IDW will publish Love Is Love.

>A 144-page comic book with work from the likes of Damon Lindelof, Patton Oswalt, Phil Jimenez, Rafael Albuquerque, Olivier Coipel and Marc Andreyko – who organised the project, it will raise money for Equality Florida’s fund for those affected by the June 12th attack at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

>Priced at $9.99 it will contain more than a hundred one page and two page stories from over a hundred creative teams

Copra is making better use of every Marvel/DC character in it than either of the companies

i weirdly got some tumblr shit for not liking that....

writer is supposed to be great so i'm open to it

>Slade recalls the first time he and Wintergreen worked together -- on a mission that changed both of their lives forever.
they are doing that on purpose

Ah, Bob. This makes me miss Agents of Atlas again, and disappointed that Ken Hale is going to be a Deadpool sidekick.

>idealized heroine
I don't really understand why anyone wants that.

I mean, role models are a bit of a flawed concept. It's all well and good to look up to a character, but characters need to have flaws, they need to make mistakes, be people, because you gotta tell a story.

If anything, you're going to teach people that female protagonists are boring because they have nothing to make them interesting.

Man, with Jen I felt true monkey paw

I've been wanting more serious female leads from marvel and in general, and the one character I like that has historically been more lighthearted and fun (and that I like as that) is now going to be more serious and angsty

I'm probably still gonna check it out but fucking monkey paw

>Misty Knight is apparently the new Captain America. Patriarchy is as over as racism.

As one of all 10 Iron Fist fans here, RRRRREEEEEEEE

Assuming Image doesn't count, not really.

Copra is pretty cool. He should been doing something for Youg Animal...

I normally do this in X-user storytimes but here we go

Hello again and now lets see what Marvel has prepare for our mutants friends for December.

-IVX # 1 will come out and will cause so much butthurt that no even threads about American politics can comprehend.

-In Extraordinary x-men # 17, ROGUE goes back to the x-men team while Kitty Pryde continues her adventures on earth...where there is the myst, and hopefully nothing will happen to her, THANKS BENDIS.

-In Uncanny x-men # 16 teen Jean Grey and Fantomex use their ps powers against Karnak, he will face a worst destiny than death, gayness.

-All New Wolverine #15 we see Laura traveling to MADRIPOOR, home of famous x-men antagonist like Viper or the Shadow king, and who know maybe Daken is there.

-All new X-men #16 where the least likeable team of mutants and Evan have to fight Madelyne Prior!, for another universe, SPOILER, solicitations says someone will do the unthinkable, get ready for 30 pages of Madeline raping Teen Ice-man into making him straight.

-Old man Logan #15 continues his chase of Dracula, where Jubilee might die if the rumor of Lemire wanting her dead are true.

-And finally x-men 92 #10 is the last issue of the series, a comic that overstayed its welcome but was selling better than other marvel comics, hmm I wonder why is getting cancelled.

This is all the news for the x-men for December, this was your host Ano Nymous, lets go back to you OP.

I read some IDW books occasionally like TMNT and Jem

Speaking of Waifu Academy, I was doing some research and for some reason I get the notion the writer might be involved in Wildstorm Rebirth. He had something with DC that was supposed to be announced but it never did unless I missed something?

bleedingcool.com/2015/09/04/allen-warner-returns-to-comics-for-dc-and-boom/

Also he's working on Ninja Boy 2 but that seems to be under another imprint.

>Iron Fist fans

Once the TV show comes out THEN Marvel will care enough to replace Danny

*makes wanking motions*

So I don't wanna spoil it because it's coming up and it's great, but Gru really reworked A.I.M. here.

Seven to Eternity looks like it is 100% my kind of shit, I'm excite

...

Thanks

Well, Image isn't impressing me much either.

No I'm fine with him where he is

Hmmmmm

I'm so fucking excited for all 4 issues a year

>I like the concept of it as an Atlantic City casino town

Wait, if Bludhaben is Atlantic City, should that mean that Blockbuster is a sightly less evil Donald Trump?

...

...

Literally who.

I am going to be so mad when there won't be any Jack Hawksmoor ongoing announced.

Should work at DC to get swole like everyone else

It really does feel like Marvel is just throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks.
Like they seem to have some ideas like "mutants are going extinct again!", "have both of the white guy and the new non-white guy at the SAME TIME!", "Inhumans are awesome!", whatever Spencer is doing, etc but it's all so scattered and sudden that it's just bleh

Like Tony was supposed to be their biggest hero a year ago, but now they've replaced him with two different people and Tony himself is in hiding or dead or whatever.

I didn't say anything about him stopping Copra.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of contrasting runs, but this is not really anything I wanted

It's so Marvel to make the tie-ins under the ASM title to keep their sales high, but make the second $4.99 book the actual plot-carrying book.

I do understand the general information spreading of "If you have customers who are into ASM, you need to order the non-ASM-titled event book", but it's still so ugh

The Kooky Quartet as delinquent teens with Cap as their Legal Guardian is a cute idea.

...

I kind of hate Hickman but I liked his Black Monday Murders thing as it started, and I'm into as storyteller is. Any fantasy which hints at a gnostic or just maltheist vibe tends to be something I'll look at, and this looks like a Dark Tower-type mix-up setting which is also maybe interesting.

I'm reading Jupiter's Legacy for Quitely. Probably my favourite fight scene this year was in that already. I want to pick up War Mother and Britannia from Valiant, but I totally forgot about them until right now.

>throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks.
At some point they busted a hole in the wall and a bunch of writers/artists ran out

Oh, and I'm reading Tomboy but also I just think Tomboy is "decent" so YMMV.

I get the impression that Marvel has a lot of little fiefdoms and writers with enough pull to be independent, but there's very little control being done on "is anyone talking to anyone else" outside of the very closely-related books, like how Duggan has a little 'Pool kingdom going.

I can't think of a book I want to read less than Shulkie having PTSD and control problems as a result of a really shitty event

on the other hand at least it's not more bland womanchild shit

>If anything, you're going to teach people that female protagonists are boring because they have nothing to make them interesting.

Thanks Feminism.

Yeah, I'll give Britannia shot too. MAYBE Seven To Eternity but I don't really like Remender and
>Hickman
Nope

Orlando's Boom mini sounds interesting...

Yes.

>I kind of hate Hickman but I liked his Black Monday Murders
Feel the same way except for Manhattan Projects, and it seems like it's on hiatus forever because the creators hate each other or something

>Orlando's Boom mini sounds interesting...
at first I thought this said "Orlando Bloom's mini"

SO those CW2 spoilers

are y'all as ready for popcorn.gif on twitter tomorrow as I am?

Manhattan Projects just started to irritate me eventually. Like, uh, everything else Hickman has done...

I forgot about that after the 5th issue or so, it's nice but it could've been better. I want to see Mia Goodwin on Gemworld with a co-writer.

Gonna be so bad.

Tho he is a nazi...

>blaming the concept instead of the people
user, pls.

>SO those CW2 spoilers
I am uneducated here

Somebody pls explain

I'm ready to see my normie friends post click bait articles spoiling it all over social media

Scanbro said that Ulysses has a vision of Miles killing Captain America so Captain Marvel arrests him

pants are gonna be shat even if it's a cliffhanger/troll move

Pic related spoilers.

my popcorn gifs are primed and ready

I liked the art enough to power through

I want to see her get more visible work for definite. If we're getting these Magical Girl books in American comics, I'm glad at least one is playing on the darker stuff.

Other stuff I'm thinking of: I'm waiting to get Monstress all in one go. And I'm reading Providence, which for my 2c is v. good regardless of how you've felt about Moore's previous Lovecraft stuff. Probably not regardless of how you feel about Moore though.

Nick Fury in a proper suit, when's the last time you saw that?

>I don't expect anything like maximum Gerber amazingness

I went into that mini with zero expectations and walked out FUCKING AMAZED.
This new series looks like it's gonna be shitty pop psychology: the series, with gunplay.
There will be zero murder of Trump analogues AND black activist analogues.
No one will live in garbage. Except garbage writing, maybe.

>they end up writing asshole sociopaths.
Well, there is an argument to be made that the audience they're targeting with those characters is the female asshole sociopath demographic.

>image books on haitus
Getting reeeeeal tired of this

I like some of the stuff Hickman is doing but I can't be bothered to actually buy it if trends say they're going to do 5 issues and then stop for two years until releasing another issue and then stopping again

BRAVO MARVEL
Truly event of the century

Watching the die-hard Captain Marvel fans fight the #woke "this is like racial profiling" fans is getting good, now

I can't do fishrape :(

Well he is fighting skinheads in issue 2

It's pretty amazing that Gerber's mini is actually more current than the current one. But y Foolkiller was superb.

Yeah Providence is nice, but I'm not SUPER into it. Monstress I tried and did not like. I feel like Tomboy was a bit too much vigilantism too little dark magical girl.

LIVE A POEM

Oh hey look, he's NOT pulling a post-Kingdom Come Nate.

>Captain America

Which one?

There's no fishrape in this one yet IIRC but ofc it's Moore there has been rape.

Racial Profiling is such a weird way to go with precog. Civil War 1's premise did way more even, I remember Patriot getting fucked up by the SHRA and shocked at the blatantness

Steve

>Getting reeeeeal tired of this
Image has a new policy that three completed issues minimum are required before solicitation

>Watching the die-hard Captain Marvel fans fight the #woke "this is like racial profiling" fans is getting good, now
I can survive on the salt for a year!

Has anybody seen any good grumbling from Ms. Marvel fans about Kamala getting pulled into her first event?

AIM style 1989 >>> AIM style now

What are you doing Bobby

Well, back before EVS managed to trick them into bringing Hal back, there was HEAT, but he wasn't really a villain until Parallax.

Steve

Shit, really?

They're not going to have to start doing 3 issue trades, are they?

Oh. Miles will just be given a medal.

Meh, lots of series still end early after 10 issues or something anyway f they don't have big name creators involved.

dat headband, why

>Manhattan Projects just started to irritate me eventually.
I was so disappointed with Manhattan Projects.

Every one but the one Nazi Scientist with a swastika burnt into his head and Harry is a fucking asshole. Oh and all the amazing discoveries and risks are rendered non-issues, the Atomic Bomb and first Rocket missions are paid absolutely no respect because lolMadScience.

Fuck you Hickman.

I feel like this is divine justice.

>they FINALLY got it right for Unworthy Thor's cover.

When is Bill ever wrong?

Oh, so not the real one.

I assume user meant that Thor was shirtless on the cover, as god intended

Those top two panels are a Freudian field day.

You're giving Marvel ideas, user. Image does some 4 issues trades though, don't they? they're rare but I think I saw a few.

I don't mind waiting, I've got enough to read. I'd rather have the best work the artist could do than a lot of what get's turned in to meet monthly deadlines

I just mean that he's all shirtless and sweaty and shit. Like you represent Thor's unworthiness by getting rid of his shirt, that's Thor 101 yeah?

Winning

I miss Marvel Cosmic getting to be weird.

lol

I miss marvel cosmic in general

The solicits have them on fucking earth

Red one is two issues oversized hard cover.

>no Ms. Marvel December 2016 solicit because of artist issues and therefore constant delays

Problem with delays isn't that the artists take more time to do the pages, it's that the artists and writers take on side projects during the breaks.

Gamora might be less Earth bullshit?

Checchetto means it'll be pretty

FUCK YES
I love you so much storyteller!
Wendell best husbando

Instead of the excitement of GROUNDED?

I miss either of the big two cosmic existing in any substantial capacity.

Don't worry, they'll put Gamora on the relaunched A-Force.

What I hate the most is Silver Surfer, you could really do some weird cosmic stuff with him instead of this quirky shit Slott is doing. Or constantly having him surf on earth.

Quality husbando material is always a good thing

FML

And "oh look the writing is quirky"

How horrifying

That other guy who was replacing him for a bit was so much more acceptable, though! WHY?!!

Also, that series really needs to have something fucking happen, besides gay shipping letter pages.

Someone on Cred Forums said the plan for that book is European style. 2 big issues a year

Omega Men was not that long ago, user.

That is the most hilarious shit. I die every time I remember those books. THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY - TRAPPED ON EARTH! PETER QUILL, STAR-LORD - HOPELESSLY UNAWARE OF MODERN CULTURAL REFERENCES!

It's just the perfect culmination of the movie influence.

Yeah I just want a pretty action book with a badass protagonist from that.

Was Checchetto on that to begin with? My jaw dropped when I saw him on it

GOTG movie was a hell of a monkey's paw

Ultimates gets to be weird. When it doesn't have to tie into and justify Civil War 2.

comic movies were a mistake

>because lolMadScience.

Yeah that's the whole appeal to me

I think this is the first time they've announced an artist for that book?

I'm surprised it's coming out at all, didn't they announce it like two years ago

and we know he can draw action ala Solid Frank

It was writer-only vaporware for like 3 years

Don't forget every damn book seemed to include a prison break of some kind.

That might be the least fashionable super team ever in the bottom left.

Anyone else assuming Wendell's Captain America poster was drawn by Steve Rogers?

Because Steve Rogers: Penciller for the Marvel Comics Captain America comic book was one of the best secret identities ever.

no shit

Oh for the love of-ONE FUCKING BOOK DOES NOT MEAN THE COSMIC STUFF IS PROMINENT AGAIN.

Goddamn. Fuck Omega Men. That book's fans are getting to be as bad and delusional as Jojo-fags. Fucking enough already.

Even worse, he's wasting Mike Allred

Then again Art Ops was also a waste so was iZombie

They really were. They really fucking were.

Word, I been thinking about going back and rereading this. Thanks OP, you the man.

Aren't they doing a The Living Weapon sequel called Iron Fists, where the little girl also has the Chi of Shou Lao.

God, TLK fucking sucked...

WHY WOULD THEY EVEN BE STUCK ON EARTH?!

On a calmer note though I forgot I'm also interested in that Mariko Tamaki Hulk book.

The artist was only announced in that previews magazine. That title was first revealed at NYCC 2014, but delayed after Secret Wars.

Art Ops will be cancelled. The result is more time for Silver Surfer (unless implying).

how about that Flintstones solicit

the Church of Gerald is selling indulgences

What's your problem bitch cake? I just told you there was a recent cosmic title that didn't revolve around earth...and the sales SUCKED.

Man this issue has been commendably non-sameface.

>Art ops
>tfw you remember that Vertigo is dead

at least sheriff of babylon is doing ok thanks to batman
the trade charted on comichron for two months so far! with 3258

is that Kaare Andrews "1%" book any good? the promo material was a real turn-off

what a great book

HE'S TURNING INTO SHADE THE CHANGING MAN!

Is Wacky Races cancelled? I didn't see in the solicits.

Probably not, he's a horrible writer and his art only looks good sometimes.

Something really beautiful about how Russell uses a primitive society to just skewer what things that have happened actually mean.

Downgraded to mini

It got changed into a 6 issue mini

Then we got Ennis' 6 issue mini with Dick Dastardly and a Jetsons ongoing

Yeah, it got turned into a six-issue mini

Next we get Ennis writing Dick Dastardly and Muttley.

2 issues once a year.

Became a stealth mini

Did they solicit Ennis's Dick Dastardly mini yet?

They need to change the logo for Vertigo. Not even kidding, it would seriously help sales. I liked Red Thorn too but that's getting canceled...

I've seen a lot more pros tweeting about it lately, too, makes me hope the first trade does well

Storyteller, you're not gonna reach that Greg Capullo mpreg cover are you?

>hmm I wonder why is getting cancelled.

Because Chamber was seeing use?

Red Thorn seemed very American Gods from the description. Was it?

EVENTUALLY!

I mean, not tonight, I was up until 3 am reading the latest Kate Daniels book

That Dick mini and the Jetsons (possibly more info at NYCC) will be out in early 2017

I hope the artist gets put on something else because her art is pretty good

You were implying that Omega Men meant the DC cosmic still exists in any substantial capacity. Or maybe you've become so delusional that your brain warps your perceptions of reality to fit your personal narrative.

And of course the book's initial sales sucked. It's a books about a bunch of space terrorists that only the turbonerds like us have ever even heard of them before. Which, in this case, is not really a bad thing.

...

literally yes

>It really does feel like Marvel is just throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks.

That's been true for like a goddamn decade.

He grew up in Gotham, home to several dozen superheroines and supervillainesses. He met Diana in one of his earliest adventures. He's worked with several super-heroines, including Donna, Starfire and now Artemis. His sidekick during Morrison's run when he was Red Hood was a girl.

Now I'm not saying that makes him a feminist, but I wouldn't exactly blame a reader coming to that particular conclusion.

>Kate Daniels

>mpreg cover
This is gonna be Mother's Day with Stealth all over again, isn't it?

>of course the book's initial sales sucked.

I wonder how many people dropped it when it was first cancelled and forgot to pick it up again when DC decided to let it finish

I know I did

It's not so much that he's a feminist but rather he does things in their headcanons that they themselves clearly want to do (but don't) or would find amusing or something, and said things are usually very bizarre

Man, good things those guys are robots and decapitating them raises no ethical issues.

there's that, and then there's

>I would write Jason Todd to take down street harassers while telling them exactly why misogyny is toxic shit.

what, I like serial fiction with shit getting killed in it

So anything involving women automatically counts as "feminist"?

wait so when did all these other stories happen? is this a teaser thing or was it all in books dude's name was not on

...

Kinda
She's alright but I'm not a huge fan of her artwork. She won't make me ever pass up a book though that's for sure.

>The character first appeared as Marvel Boy in Captain America #217 (January, 1978). He continued to make guest appearances in Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Marvel Two-in-One, and Avengers. He was revamped as Quasar by Mark Gruenwald, and first appeared under this new name in The Incredible Hulk #234 (April 1979).

...

>He met Diana in one of his earliest adventures.
Said encounter had him thinking dirty thoughts about her because he was a stupid teenager at the time.

Three completed issues before soliciting just means everything ends up a de facto 4 issue mini as they lose interest in working on it by the time the third issue comes out and they just manage to squeak out a fourth.

>substantial capacity
Meaning? Cosmic titles haven't really been a thing since the 80s. Small exceptions ehre and there but that's it. Oh and some "human characters in space but also still visiting earth" comics.
Besides, different is bad and Rebirth is showing this. There aren't any real magic titles left either.

I dodged Red Thorn mainly because it seemed derivative of that, and doing derivative copies is something 2000AD sometimes does and which is normally bad. And I know David Baillie as a 2000AD writer, not a Vertigo one.

But if it's good I should check it out. It's something close to home.

you know i thought he looked like that uranus guy from Agents of Atlas

Death on ski's? Why does this seem familiar?

Wendell is the third Marvel character to use that name.

>>I would write Jason Todd to take down street harassers while telling them exactly why misogyny is toxic shit.
What if that, but then Artemis tells him to shut up and hits him?

Yes! I finally get my badass killbitch!

clean thoughts, chum

at least THE FIX seems to be a dedicated ongoing, but Lieber's also a pro.

because it's a Kirby nod

So this entire issue was like a retelling of his origin, right?

Because he was all kinds of At Project Pegasus during Dazzler and Power Man/Iron Fist.

>Cosmic titles haven't really been a thing since the 80s.
Meaning that.

>There aren't any real magic titles left either.
And while were at it, this too.

Wait am I in DC now what's happening

Al Ewing, or an equivalent, will one day link this guy to ALL-BLACK THE NECROSWORD from the Godbutcher run. Calling it now.

>Quasar vs. Doorman

I'm ready.

Suicidal Krypton is a hell of a good idea

Yeah, it's a nice "catch up the audience on some old comics that you'd have a hard time finding" issue

Say what you want about Deathurge and his skis, his design and powerset is really good and can have lots of story potential in the modern era but I don't wan them in any of the current marvel editorial.
:(

NOWer! betting pool will be a thing this time too

Quasar should never have shaved that beard.
Makes him look like the Cosmic Jesusmaryandjoseph he eventually becomes.

>Gamora might be less Earth bullshit?

Sadly, no Fishnet Bodysuit, even though it seems like it's probably Pre-Infinity Watch even.

so was a 4 year journey to Uranus like to explain why he wasn't in comics for awhile or something? It's so weird to see them take the HUGE SPACE DISTANCES seriously.

i've seen it with monica sometimes. like it takes her about 8 minutes to get to pluto

Oh, huh. There was a 616 Bluestreak too. Maybe he's the MC2 one's dad or something.

Quasar with beard > Quasar without agreed.

this Deathurge guy should maybe be a Pym arch--foe ngl

i wish they'd go more into the depression stuff or pull back on it

How far ARE we getting to, Storyteller? Because we may run into the Infinity Trilogy.

>to explain why he wasn't in comics for awhile or something?
Knowing Gruenwald, yes. Mark Gruenwald was such a super fan and continuity nut that John Byrne thought he went to far

>Aren't they doing a The Living Weapon sequel called Iron Fists, where the little girl also has the Chi of Shou Lao.

Yes they are. I feel like whoever pitched that concept forgot that to be Iron Fist, you need to kill a fucking dragon with your bare fucking hands.

We're diving in and running as far as we feel like it.

Oh shit, I hope I can be present for the best arc of this run.
the infinity vs. oblivion fight was the best

Yeah that's the only reason I asked. My favorite is him and Waid at conventions would name issue numbers of JLA and the other would name the story title or plot to try and stump each other

OH HEY

>As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Brian Michael Bendis knows this better than anyone after opening and closing his fair share of comic series over the years. His latest soon-to-end run will kick off with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #15 in a story called “Grounded” this December.

At least GOTG fans can be happy that Bendis is finally leaving the book.

We've certainly wasted no time diving into the weird end of the cosmic pool.

I'm sorry but that just sounds like autism.

What properties does Marvel have left for Bendis to ruin?

Has he run out of new worlds to conquer?

>all good things must come to an end
Hehehehehehehehehehehe!

For another year!

It sounds like Eltingville Club, without the frustration and hate

...

>his run is planned to wrap up with an oversized issue

I'm weirded out by the offspring of time and space having a linear conception of time desu

Why would you name anything "Grounded" after that disaster of a Superman arc

He hasn't ruined The Defenders. Only Doctor Strange.

issues are making me REAL hype to see who chained Eternty.

also this sounds like what Nick Fury was supposedly doing and what Bucky did for a bit

but in a fun way!

>Jessica Jones
>Spider-Man
>two Iron Mans

Four books is enough for him.

Though I can see him trying the Inhumans within the next couple years maybe.

>"I probably lost all my muscle tone"
>Is still buffer than some athletes.

Ah, comic book art.

...

RIP Gruenwald, the best continuityfag in Marvel
I mean we got this and Squadron Supreme.

Best kind of autism imho

>I mean we got this and Squadron Supreme.
And Captain America!

Having read Alias recently, god, I hope Jessica Jones tanks. Gaydos and Bendis are a match made in hell.

Good read

some day we'll get to Gru Cap, too

we might even lure Comrade to stay up late for that

Dude wasn't safer in his magic other dimension?

Waid's still kicking!

shall we read one more?

Autism is yet another word that has lost all meaning.

Please?

if you want

>No one as filled with existential angst as you has ever recovered!

Dude must not get around the Marvel U much huh

>Though I can see him trying the Inhumans within the next couple years maybe.
That seems really likely, they use Bendis as their big gun when they want to push things

...

AUTHOR NOTES

Yes please!

No that is actually pretty autistic behavior.

>Rod Reis is drawing ALL 50 U.S.Avengers state variants

So that's an interesting point, that Quasar is distinct for his time in being a fully human Cosmic hero at Marvel

>1000 pages of Silver Age Hal for $99.99

Wait Adam Warlock is human though, sort of. He was made by a bunch of scientists on Earth to be the perfect man, hence the later name Adam. Originally he was just called "Him"

I had never realized that

so salty of those collections legion when

how are you owls tonight

I already have the two existing silver age GL omnis but I am tempted to sell them and get the new edition later

It has a nice Cooke cover and it matches the other new silver age collections! ;_;

Get ready to outrage: cbr.com/50-u-s-avengers-variants-designate-every-state-an-avenger/

does it just show how insanely NYC-centric Marvel is?

Ewwww, I don't want Beast!

>playing a guessing game is autism
I guess that makes riddles, puzzles, video games, sports, management, working a cash register, or anything else that requires quick thinking fall under the banner of "autism". Sure thing, pal.

they all seem good so far. Gonna be mad if Cannonball isn't Kentucky

preemptively upset over who my home state gets

You didn't clue in when they showed that fake Bob disintegrated in the first few pages?

Oh wow it's the worst laziest shit imaginable. Why even bother.

No, just that particular "guessing game"

Slott, back when Slott was good, killed him and turned him into a squirrel, in GLA.

I feel less guilt in running this than usual because Marvel's probably never gonna digital this run

yeah, there's a random set of about six issues available.

Avenger Beast is Best Beast though!

It's disgraceful Wonder Man isn't Cali but that's more moviepandering than anything so like I can deal

no because i didn't actually remember anything from AoA beyond the look and Uranus relation

>linking to new CBR

Fantastic Four.

> New York doesn't get Spider-Man

That means nothing.

>dat photo ref background

>Yeah, it's a nice "catch up the audience on some old comics that you'd have a hard time finding" issue

Ah, Pre-trade comics.

it's slightly less lazy that DC's JLA flag variants from a couple years ago, but it's still pretty lazy

are they just randomly assigning characters to states? I guess they have to otherwise there wouldn't be anybody for like 40/50 states

I really like that Wendell and Eon has similar (but not the same) dynamics with Richard & Worldmind in this run.
even if the Eon is dead later on

Tired, I've just finished a client's cake order with decorations and all.

is anyone else kinda hoping Marvel is trolling with Nova and it's not Dick

C'mon Movieverse has barely expanded cosmic!

i'm telling you!

d'awwww

mmmmmm, cake

I live in hope that one day the Time Variance Authority shows up at Marvel HQ and makes some ... changes.

Meh. All I've got left to drink is diet soda, and I came up with a stupid fanfic idea.

... Yeah, this is why I hang out with you guys. My life is not exciting.

>phone number isn't 444-FOUR

cmon!

it's not totally random, Monica got Louisiana, but yeah I think a good number will be.

>is anyone else kinda hoping Marvel is trolling with Nova and it's not Dick
I wouldn't put it past them

or it's an alternate universe Richard or something

>John Byrne thought he went to far

It might just be that he went too far in directions Byrne didn't like, because woe to the man who wrote a story Byrne didn't like that he could do a follow up to.

Dude once fought Thor one on one without any of the powers he would later get, in his 2nd major appearance.

Would Bendis swap The Thing for Luke Cage?

...

I'm playing Vidyah while waiting for some mkv files to convert to a smaller codec!
No, nothing good, just trophy hunting.

It's Franklin

this is actually a great point.

But one benefit is the covers are displayed bigger. Also the original sauce is Buzzfeed.

He really isn't a native New Yorker

husbando material!

Decided to sit down to watch Forbidden Planet.

>NEW NEW FANTASTIC FOUR
>Luke, Jessica, Johnny, Peter?

i dunno who their smart friend is

That Nien Numb looking motherfucker to Marv's right is freaky as hell.

I'm gonna assume that extreme left is a sentient Nebula like Cloud.

And swap Sue with Kitty.

yeah but that girl is not dressed for a job interview

So has Spencer done anything with his New Quasar yet?

Of the four, Peter.

Oh, also: Fishman Janitor series WHEN?

Eh, it's Hardmode Trivia. Plenty of people like Trivia, it's why Trivial Pursuit was such a big deal when it originally came out.

Not yet but he's said on twitter soon. like i think he gave an issue to watch for?

...

Hey guys remember that user that claimed to be a marvel intern and said Bendis would soon be off GOTG in favor of Slott?

Monkey paw if true, or what?

Blok looking dude in the back right.

I like the actual bird person, Shi'ar a shit

She showed up in one issue complaining she wasn't getting the hang of things.

...

...

When I first read this run, I kept thinking "wow Wendell are you Clark Kent now? Changing your hairstyle and adding glasses is not a good disguise"

Wendell's nice personality is super cute and the reason I husbando him and superman

I'm getting real Green Lantern vibes from the bands

really world you couldn't just let the man have JLA

>a lot straighter a man

we have a Wendell/FRANK teamup way down the line

>So that's an interesting point, that Quasar is distinct for his time in being a fully human Cosmic hero at Marvel

Well, there's Vance Astro in their too... but he's in the future, has comparatively weak powers, and is locked in a team book.

And he was also a Marvel Boy. Or at least the version that didn't join the Air Force was. And like every other Marvel character named Marvel, ditched that name.

What do you guys think of Wendell Vaughn x Hal Jordan?

seriously who doesn't wear a shirt to a job interview

Since New Warriors bombed, my hope for more Justice/Speedball teamups is kind of dead

Are you supposed to hear Eon's voice coming out of his mouth? Or his freaky giant eye?

I'm interested

There's way too many characters with the word marvel in their superhero names

what was the adjective on the fourth Carol relaunch?

Johnny Storm has taken the Marvel sliding timescale as hard/harder than any other character. He really never gets to progress.

...

...

He used to be in that same boat with Iceman

Well, it's gonna have a lot of New York based and born characters not in New York, because apparently New York is all Luke Cage's now.

I DISLIKE SOME OF THOSE CHOICES.
WHO THE FUCK ASSOCIATES STEVE ROGERS WITH DELAWARE?!

Also- fuck, Canada's just going to be a fucking Wolverine cover, innit?

Well, at least he's from Illinois. Widow sure as shit ain't from Connecticut.

>Gonna be mad if Cannonball isn't Kentucky
Marvel Editorial probably doesn't even remember that he's from Kentucky at this point.

He also suffers a lot from "every writer wants to give him the same arc".

I assumed Cap was Deleware because it was the first state to ratify the constitution.

he is the least interesting of the f4

Is he still banging Medusa, now?

>is anyone else kinda hoping Marvel is trolling with Nova and it's not Dick

Hoping? No.
Expecting at this point? Kinda.

delicious continuity notes

He probably would, and completely make no mention of it having happened before.

...

i'm so annoyed at the parts of Eon that just looks like captain marvel's face and hair. go full batshit!

thanks for reading, more tomorrow

this is amiable comics

Wendell "father issues" Vaughn

Getting a very Wrinkle in Time vibe from that bottom panel.

Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.

Some day, cosmic stuff may have a resurgence, but it'll probably be a while.

There's a lot of that to the Fantastic Four in general.

Ben has gradually lost most of his curmudgeonly traits over the years, but there are a lot of "Ben loses his powers, angsts, gets his powers back, angsts" arcs over the years, and Reed cycles in and out of autism depending on the author.
But yeah, Johnny "hotshot 50s greaser kid" Storm has never had a chance to really escape that as the basis of his character.

I did like the work Hickman put in with having Johnny as not just the cool uncle, but genuinely good at and caring about being Franklin and Val's uncle.

Thanks for running.

The Angler was a fun little weirdo- Wouldn't mind seeing him again some time.
These SCIENCE! boxes at the end are a great artifact of comics gone by that would only ever see "ironic" use nowadays and that kinda sucks.
By writing the kid audience out of comics, they've made it a perfect refuge for hipsters.

Carol still doesn't have Cosmic Awareness and the sparkling trail, right? Worst Captain Marvel.

I don't think we've gotten any Flash Facts recently either

nice

>being concerned about the melted walls

literally me

youtube.com/watch?v=dIm87r9lnD0

>tfw your dad likes your cool alien friend more than you

clearly we have culturally appropriative daddy issues happening

Wait, she calls on him to get him to get him out of the funk he's in and his response is to get him to fuck off to space?
For several years? For real?

I'd say being around strong, brave, confident, competent women would certainly encourage a feminist mindset.

bump

I thought Quasar was a Marvel character

Title will be selling Hellcat numbers by that issue

Anyone remember when Quasar crossed over to the New Universe?

But modern feminists encourage the exact opposite.

Headbands are cool.

...

this long-running storytime originated as reading everything JSA, now we read largely off-beat Big Two and other stuff according to the whim of the storytimer
