Size comparison thread.
This one always makes people salty

Nth for Nute Gunray and Nute's Ray Gun

"Ray gun"

That planet was much smaller than I thought. Does that mean it was really dense to have comparable Earth gravity, or is it just space magic?

The Unknown Regions works in mysterious ways, user.

In case anyone missed my post last thread:

The Star Wars Rebels Season One soundtrack has been uploaded. This includes the Official Soundtrack and the tracks released on various SoundClouds

What's a Tector-class Star Destroyer

A ship class derivative from the ISD that the EU never bothered to expand on.

You see the bottom of it in rotj.
No bulb, not bottom hangar

Huh. Interesting. Thanks

From what I can tell, Star Killer base is anywhere from 840km to 960km in diameter. The smallest dwarf planet in our solar system, Ceres, is only ten kilometer's smaller than that. Since planets in Star Wars don't have to deal with things like realism when it comes to planets that means that it's a perfectly reasonable size.

If you really want to throw in things like gravity and such, well gravity generators are nothing new in Star Wars, and a series of them could be installed in a planet to give it a gravitational boost.

A Tector-class Star Destroyer is a Star Destroyer without a hanger or ventral bulb. They're more geared for combat roles versus the Imperial variety as they have extra armor and firepower. They show up in ROTJ and Tarkin.

>840km to 960km
I did the math and it's ~667.32 km

It's a miniature so that's a pretty fucking small dildo.

It's a dildo for Gunray

This map is missing the Secutor Class Star Destroyer.

Based on, if I may ask? The things that I looked up were comparing pixel by pixel the sizes from TFA, and it doesn't seem there's an official size for it yet.

The calculations are right, but the Death star being 160 km is a typo, it's supposed to be 120 km. Can't fix it right now because I'm on mobile

>An object that small can hold all of a stars energy

Neutron stars do that, and many with less space

I thought the first Death Star was 140km

>The Clone Troopers in that webm
Interesting enough, they chose to go for EP3's look rather than the cartoon's. Guess it looked too weird having the visors be too big.

Huh, I assumed that the Interdictor was the same size as a standard Star Destroyer.

with a dildo of that power who would even NEED his mythical porn stash?

you want to be mad at something?
the amount of energy contained in a star would be enough to kill off an entire galaxy, and they blew up five planets. So where did all the extra energy drained go?

The First Order's problem is that they're thinking too small.

This was also literally minutes before the Sheevster gets captured, in fairness. And CGI wars took visual cues from genndywars, not the other way around.

>>And CGI wars took visual cues from genndywars, not the other way around.
Uhh, I never said that genndy wars took the art style from TCW

Something interesting about this show was how the Clones remained non-vocal taking cues from AOTCs. Even the fan fiction I read at the time had Clones more silent than talkative. TCW really changed this idea. I feel like some fans complained the Clones were too vocal and "free".

In general they started moving away from referencing the Genndy designs after the first season, so it made sense that by the time they got around to phase 2 they didn't really look as Genndy-inspired as the phase 1 helmets did.

In making TCW they quickly realized that Anakin, Ahsoka, and the other Jedi were terrible fucking characters, so they had to give the clones personality so that they could have some interesting characters and story arcs

The EU had this weird idea that the clones were basically droid-like and lacking personality. The ARCs were originally meant to play against that by being specially designed for independent thought. The weird part is that in AOTC Lama Su specifially mentions that independent thinking is something that gives clones an edge over droids. They're more docile and obedient than Jango but the EU took that to mean they were just meat droids.

TCW had to remove the "special breeding" for ARCs because the regular troops already being capable of independent thinking made the idea pointless.

Wook lists it as 120 km in both continuities

I forget, which is the good mobile game again?

So they made it smaller than it was in '98 then?

Long story short
yes

Talking doesn't really help much, especially when the thing you're fighting can hear and understand you. I always assumed that the Clones had basically memorized all the plans that they'd have for a situation, and only a name of the maneuver or a hand signal was all that was needed.

I wonder how long until they decided it was always larger than that and make it 160.

Are you sure this isn't using old EU measurements for the Interdictor? It appeared huge in Rebels.

Also, wasn't Home One a lot bigger? Or did they change the sizes in some nucanon source?

>The ARCs were originally meant to play against that by being specially designed for independent thought.

>special breeding" for ARCs

Unless I'm mistaken, ARC troopers (in legends) were clones the Kaminoans deemed defective. And to spare them from termination, Jango personally trained them to the point that they became the most effective soldiers in the GAR.

ARC-170s don't get enough love.

Not if you ask /tg/ as of late.
That said ARCs are neat. Not my favorite of the clone war era but definitely a fun little shippy.

...

Uprising

Favorite starfighter of the prequel era next to V-Wing's.

>that part in Tarkin where a Ton-Fok carrier releases dozens of them after a mini-jump

>The part in Tarkin where he talks about how comfy V-Wings are, and shits on the newer TIE's

I just can't get behind a lot of the prequel fighters because they're just so goddamn tiny.

>that part in Tarkin where he complains about how uncomfortable his boots are
V-Wings are sick as hell, incidentally. I like ARC-170s because I love starfighters that require more than one person.

So I suppose their canon counterparts would be clones like those Bad Batch guys?

There's just something comfy about the camaraderie that flying such a ship forms.

I think that's because the ship has only been mentioned and there aren't canon measurements for it.

>Are you sure this isn't using old EU measurements for the Interdictor? It appeared huge in Rebels.
I'm not sure where he got the measurement(I didn't make this. I only changed the Venator out because the one he did was off-model and looked bad).

None of the canon interdictors have official sizes. The Rebels one has the same appearance as the Immobilizer 418, but there's nothing directly tying it to that name(So far the Immobilizer has only been referenced in Tarkin)

Maybe someone should ask Pablo. We also could try to deduce the size using the Artiquens as a size reference.

This is the guy's post

reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/53nvlq/canon_starships_to_scale_info_in_comments/

>Also, wasn't Home One a lot bigger? Or did they change the sizes in some nucanon source?

Databank says 1200m, 100m less than the Legends measurement.

starwars.com/databank/mon-calamari-star-cruiser

>Databank says 1200m, 100m less than the Legends measurement.
Weird, I could swear it was more around 3000m. Unless that's another ship I'm remembering.

It ripped hyperspace.

>So I suppose their canon counterparts would be clones like those Bad Batch guys?

I don't think so. Maybe. I could've sworn that the guys in Bad Batch were the result of deliberate experimental mutations.

Also, nice trips.

You don't understand user, the amount of energy Starkiller got from the star is (fittingly) astronomically big. So big that only one billionth of it was used to blow up those planets. So the other 99.999999999% of the energy was needed just to shoot the ray there?

>Unless I'm mistaken, ARC troopers (in legends) were clones the Kaminoans deemed defective. And to spare them from termination, Jango personally trained them to the point that they became the most effective soldiers in the GAR.
Sort of. The Null ARC troopers were that, but they were personally trained by Kal Skirata rather than Jango. They tried again after learning from the mistakes they made with the Nulls and made the Alpha-class ARCs, which were the ones we're familiar with.

Incidentally, the Nulls being the first batch of Jango clones and being abberations that were then used as a black ops squad was something that was thought up years after the original ARC backstory was devised.

>muh hard scifi
Don't make me call Pablo!

hard sci-fi only requires that the work adhere to a set of rules, it doesn't have to be real rules.

I swear there was something weird with the V-Wings in BF2. I was never good at piloting them
Meanwhile basically massacring droids in the ARC-170's and boarding ships in the LAAT's was second nature

...

Here user, lemme give you a hand.

youtube.com/watch?v=VwX4bCOoBoU

>So the other 99.999999999% of the energy was needed just to shoot the ray there?
Apparently. Since shooting the ray caused all kinds of wacky hyperspace hijinks like making the whole thing visible from several star systems away, we may as well just believe that it took a huge amount of energy to do that. I don't know how, but we're probably not going to get a better explanation than that.

The Weekly Planet guys did an an animated thing talking about Splinter of the Mind's Eye. It's breddy gud.

>Ciara - Paint It, Black (Audio)
How embarrassing! How embarrassing!

why do the ships bother banking?

This.
Tfa threw any sense of consistency star wars had out the window
>instant hyperspace travel
I'm still mad.

Lmao, just turn your brain off

...

how do you know the travel was instantaneous?

because star wars physics

its intended to imitate WW2 dogfights

Okay so I heard that they changed how Luke got his green lightsaber from him building it from instructions he found in Obi-wan's old house to him being given it by some random person. Is that true?

I'm honestly surprised the fighters even have ailerons.

not according to wookiepedia

No, that's still the case. No idea where you heard that some rando gave it to him.

No, someone gives him another Lightsaber in Heir to the Jedi, but it was a ruse, he loses it.

As far as I know, they haven't explained how he got the green Lightsaber yet, but I am guessing he is going to have to go through his own trail for a Kyber Crystal, like the Younglings in TCW.

>rey leaves Yavin 2.0
>Reaches Ireland planet in seconds
They could say they cut out all the travel scenes, but I'm convinced JJ thought hyperspace took only seconds

They fly in atmospheres, too.

Oh thank goodness. Because Luke not building his own (and purposefully making it look like Kenobi's) would be dumb as fuck.

since it is not one unbroken shot, then yes, time is taken out.

Oh shit it's My husband

I thought it was the snazzy wipes and cuts to other scenes that indicated the passage of time

This isn't the first time Abrams massively underestimated FTL travel time.

Never assume that anything that isn't a long single shot is in sequence.

Hell, don't even assume things in a long uninterrupted shot are in sequence. Apparently there's pockets of force that Deus Ex Machina up the galaxy for no real reason.

So, let's assume TIE fighters do indeed have ion cannons/torpedo launcers as Battlefront shows and any sourcebook saying otherwise is just outdated info. So where would such weapons be located?

on the ship, duh.

>le battlefront is canon memay

Dude fuck off this game has black-robed Luke Skywalker with a green lightsaber on Hoth it's not canon.

>black-robed Luke Skywalker with a green lightsaber on Hoth it's not canon.
It's been updated to have hoth luke with his blue lightsaber when playing on hoth.

>let's assume

Also han can become hoth han, and leia as endor leia

It looks like there's two little ports right underneath the cockpit window. I think those are the disruptor cannons (since they fire green tracers vs. ion cannons which use blue).

I'm going to also guess that the projectile torpedoes located in that half-dome right below the cannons. It would be very much like the Empire to seat the pilot right above all the deadly munitions.

>I think that's because the ship has only been mentioned and there aren't canon measurements for it.
Based on it's Legends measurements, it should be 2.2km.

>The Rebels one has the same appearance as the Immobilizer 418, but there's nothing directly tying it to that name(So far the Immobilizer has only been referenced in Tarkin)
Leland Chee said, "Fair to assume species names are the same unless you hear otherwise. Same goes for planets. And ship models." So unless stated otherwise, the ship we see in Rebels is indeed an Immobilizer. I would argue this would extend to images like the Secutor and Victory Star Destroyer because we haven't seen it in official appearance.

>surrounded by blaster rifles

So how did Vader win this?

>Based on it's Legends measurements, it should be 2.2km.
Yeah I brought it up in a comment on his post

> So unless stated otherwise, the ship we see in Rebels is indeed an Immobilizer. I would argue this would extend to images like the Secutor and Victory Star Destroyer because we haven't seen it in official appearance.

I'll mention it to the guy if I get the chance. The harder part is convincing The Wook to merge the Immobilizer 418 page with their separate page for the Rebels interdictor

starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_Interdictor

starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Immobilizer_418_cruiser/Canon

I mentioned this earlier, they have easily attachable hardpoints. Not all TIE fighters have them equipped but they can be. I don't understand what's so hard about this. I would assume you could easily mount them underneath the TIE like a real world aircraft.

He didn't, he was killed. The Emperor had to take a new apprentice, Darth Kimball.

The Force, playing off the fear of the soldiers which stopped them from all firing at the same exact time, lightsaber deflection, calculated explosives used against them.

>Classic Battlefront Sniper Rifle

Fucking beautiful.

Because it's only thematically correct if a white man does it.
youtube.com/watch?v=aWvABrYalrk

>The harder part is convincing The Wook to merge the Immobilizer 418 page with their separate page for the Rebels interdictor
Shouldn't be hard since they were the first ones to get that image it's part of the DP-20 gunships canon page. They just aren't fully mobilized. They really need to get it together because we are getting flooded with new content every week.

Holy shit, season six of TCW's animation looks almost like motion capture.

He detonates several Thermal Detonators and uses the sand as cover to make a series of quick strikes and redirects their blaster fire. But what gets the majority of kills is the TIE fighter's laser cannons he reconfigured. Since their high powered laser cannons, they made short work of infantry and light vehicles.

You really should read the comic because it shows this in detail.

user, not even motion capture is motion capture.

If there's one thing I never liked about Genndy Clone Wars it's the over-abundance of Super Battle Droids. I always felt they should be fairly rare but the SBDs outnumbered the regular Battle Droids like 5-to-1.

I like this explanation the best.

To be fair a good chunk of the issues with Genndywars is that he didn't exactly get the memo for every bit of minutae. Rather than the sort of heavy infantry roll supers usually ended up being it, (and in fairness other material at the time such as battlefront) just saw them as better versions of the B1s.

Boy that clasp on the Emperor's hood sure is reminiscent of the detailing on Kylo Ren's mask.

I wonder if there's any relation.

>In making TCW they quickly realized that Anakin, Ahsoka, and the other Jedi were terrible fucking characters

No, Traviss.

Sheev is Snoke, duh.

Dude don't even joke about that shit. I remember going to see force awakens the first time, and the first time I saw snoke and his forehead I thought "oh Christ please don't let them pull a dark empire and have bullshit with sheev living"

It doesn't really matter if he turns out to literally be Sheev or not, since he's Sheev 2.0 anyway

He does seem like a sadder figure, though. I just hope they build from that instead of going full Neo Sheev in the following movies.

Maybe he has some degree of respect for the Emperor? He was Vader's master, after all.

I feel like Serkis is completely wasted in the role. His forte in motion capture is being able to do heavily physical roles and being able to emote through body language and facial expression as much if not more than doing so by speaking.

Snoke just sits there and mutters at two tiny guys. It's like they got him because they knew they wanted Snoke to be a mocap character and just went "hey Andy's a mocap guy" and that was as much thought as they put into it. As it is there's barely any reason for Snoke to be mocap at all.

this is like saying Serkis is wasted as Gollum after only seeing Fellowship.

Serkis wasnt famous for his mocap talent before Two Towers anyway

Gollum was a cameo in Fellowship, though. We didn't even get a clear look at him- we see him so little that they were able to actually change his design without anyone noticing.

Could Snoke be a more physical character later? Maybe, but I kind of doubt it.

I imagine they'll want to avoid following Palpatine and having him jumping around with a lightsaber, so Snoke being more of a dark wizard that sits back and relies on his powers rather than getting directly physical is probably a safe bet.

I'm still betting on him not even being force sensitive and he's just pulling a wizard of Oz act.

What was she doing around rebels? Still a teenager?

>dat install size
Fuck this shit

>Picking off Rebel Scum on Kamino

Inverse Ninja Law.

More serious answer, I'm hesitant to estimate rebel trooper training but they probably aren't as good as stormtroopers who were themselves nowhere near clone trooper levels. But that's just me saying that. I just don't see the ragtag, often poorly funded and equipped rebellion as able to field a truly professional army, at least on that scale. They take what they can get and make do as best they can. Doesn't mean they cannot have professionals, of course, but surely their degree of military prowess varies wildly from person to person.

They're at an extreme disadvantage for a number of reasons, too. They don't know what Vader is capable of, even without using the Force. Otherwise their first instinct wouldn't have been to try a rocket barrage which he deflected back into their faces. After that it's just him spreading confusion and terror among the enemy. Also doesn't help that they've surrounded him to the extent that they're in the crossfire from each other which Vader can work to his advantage. And also if you notice the terrain they have the high ground. Vader has spent twenty years awaiting this moment, his redemption. Finally he shall have his revenge against the high ground as he's finally worked out a way to defeat it!

This. Snoke is gonna force shock Rey forcing Kylo Ren to sacrifice himself to kill Snoke.

Disney canon is shit and who ever likes any Disney media should honestly kill themselves.

>giving EA money

did they buff the empire to balance it out?

Yeah, the Inteceptors got crazy buffs.

Customization got fixed in the update too, no more helmet-less Stormtroopers.

Glad the helmetless thing is gone

To be fair, it does sound insane. At the end they agree that Dooku's probably full of shit but they're going to keep a closer eye on the senate anyway.

Hey, I may have payed $100 for Battlefront, but I got Battlefield 4 for $5 and all the dlc free.

You still gave them $105 dollars

And the fun hasn't stopped yet.

>Waiting a year for the fun to begin

Thats the real downer

Ok what happened to The Clown Wars?

What happens in the end?

Will they ever tie the story?

Yes, Bozo defeated Count Floppo but it was too late, Peevy set his plan in motion and the galaxy took a massive pie in the face

I can't believe the way Windy slipped and fell out the window, it was a brilliant finale for his act.

Are OTfags still pissed about Sidious actually being good with a lightsaber.

I still see people complaining about it now and then. I also see the "b-but Palpatine had contempt for lightsabers!" argument which just shows those people weren't actually paying attention to the dialogue.

By surrounding them with even bigger blasters

So my headcanon is that the reason you see ships like the X-Wing and Y-Wing being produced by the Empire a few years before ANH is because the bulk of the Death Star's budget had been used by now and remaining funds in the Empire were finally being used to update their ships to models reminiscent of the Clone Wars for the purposes of having renewed love for the Empire (since their ships will now remind people of the Clones that saved their worlds from the Separatists) and to bring parallels to the Empire and Republic as well as the Rebellion and Separatists to help people further support the destruction of the Rebellion. Almost to imply a false sense of security for everyone who has been losing faith in the Empire.

But then the Rebellion destroyed the Death Star forcing them to waste money creating a new one, making Vader's Executor, and likely making tons of more cheaply made TIEs to support the war effort.

There's 8 unfinished episodes of TCW you can watch here: starwars.com/tv-shows/the-clone-wars-legacy

Then you check out this panel, which talks about all the unreleased episodes of TCW: youtube.com/watch?v=7yKM6RExLlI

basically the show would have ended with the Siege of Mandalore, that would have involved Ahsoka, Maul, and Rex, which explains where they were during Order 66

But by that point the Empire was sweeping away the last remnants of the old Republic.

Source?

She should already be an assassin at this point.

she's dead because she was one of Luke's students.

...

>a dick

I have a feeling all dead will eventually spiral out of control and eventually become a substantial chunk but not counting anyone we really care about except like 1 or 2 people to be poignant.

wait what ? Isn't Starkiller Base supposed to be the size of a planet ?
And the Death Star the size of the Moon ?

Also i thought Death Star II was way bigger than the first one

In space it's hard to judge distance and the death star was so much bigger than any space station that it was assumed to be a moon.

the death star 2 being the magnitude larger was an EU thing.

Starkiller Base is around the size of our smallest dwarf planet.

The galaxy far far away is surprisingly small.

But user, it's canon

oh well, meh.

Actually now that i think of it it'd be interesting if in the Star Wars universe planets were way smaller than in real life, that'd explain why it feels like a planet in Star Wars = a country in real life

It's a Diablo style MMORPG

Have some Loth-cats

cute

And it takes up way too much fucking space.

Get an SD card then. They're cheap as fuck

I have one. Android doesn't let you install directly to it.

In a universe where someone can survive getting cut in half, thrown down a bottomless pit, living in trash, and then making his own neuro-linked spider legs because they were mad, why should I believe that anyone dies in Star Wars?

Maul only survived for the same reason Vader on Mustafar survived; The Dark Side.

It took all of Maul's strength and powers to keep himself alive, so much so that it drove him to insanity.

Reann Tomvig is a better love interest for Ezra than Mizel Pomdak is. Anyone who disagrees is a literal faggot!

Literally who?

>por que no ambos.jpg

There is only ONE love interest for Ezra.

I'm so tired of the SS posting. Season 3 can't come soon enough.

Dooku did nothing wrong.

Also, those opening shots. I keep forgetting how gorgeous Attack of the Clones looked at times.

>implying that will stop it

Took me a second to realise the Lothcats were the crew.

Face it user, she is /swco/'s mascot until the next fetish waifu comes along

What is this meme? Seriously? Why do you keep posting, every single thread, about how you can't wait for Season 3, as if it's going to magically make waifufags disappear? Was you not here during Season 2? Or with the Aresko posting in Season 1? Or when entire TCW threads were just Ahsoka image dumps? And all of this was when the cartoons were on air.

You posting this exact same thing every thread, is more distracting than the actual waifufags.

If they really piss you off that much, you can follow these simple steps;

>Ignore the posts you dislike
>Start a conversation about a topic you would enjoy talking about instead
>Enjoy those posts instead

It really is as simple as that. The only person hurting you is yourself, user.

>look up Mizel Pomdak on the Wook
>he's a boy

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here brah, Ahsoka is, and always will be, /swco/'s mascot. /ss/ has had her time in the spotlight. Time to let go.

Except we had a whole tornament proving that that is not true

Let me rephrase that, she is /swco/'s fetish mascot for /swco/'s fetish anons

at least she had a solid fourth place
She is my number one though

4th place doesn't even get a medal. They get a card that says "thanks for participating"

Oh shit!

Apparently fourth place also gets oral services

Because do we really want to see Owen and Beru given the Ghost Rider treatment?

Nah, it was established that they are more Destroyer than Battleship size.

That's hot. That's a hot way to live.

>September 24 - 8:30 PM ET
Did it used to be on Saturday? That's unusual, I remember it being a weeknight premier usually. I don't like this, I work closing shifts usually on Saturdays.

Does mega-user still exist or am I going to be forced to stream like a pleb?

...

That's what they said about Pearl and 3 years later, we're still having her spammed in every drawthread. That's what they said about Joy, a year later, we're still having her spammed in every drawthread.

Personally, I think Hera deserves to be of Cred Forumss spamfu's. Because, let's face facts, Hera is pretty much the mom we all wish we could fuck.

Hypothetically, if one had a ridiculous amount of free time and decided to to absorb all EU/Legends material, would they get a well-rounded, complete experience, or did the canon wipe leave things hanging?

And SS is pretty much the older woman we all wish to be seduced by. Who whispers lewd, degrading things into our ears.

I'm convinced all SSposting is done consistently in every single thread by one person.

I'm not sure if the last series of novels got finished or not. I believe Dawn of the Jedi got cut off.

If anything is left unresolved, it wouldn't be a whole lot of things.

I said SS posting, nothing about waifus in general. Calm down with the boogeymen, user.

Point still stands, ignore what you dislike, encourage what you do. If everybody follows this, then everybody will get the experience they want out of these threads

WHAT

She never looked that old to me.

There's a few hanging threads, like the end of Forces of Corruption, but nobody should do what you're suggesting

not really, I remember doing something like this in an old general for something else, going the extra mile to actually filter everything that I didn't like about the stuff.

Out of the 500 post threads I could only read about a fifth of it.

So maybe Cred Forums isn't for you. Try reddit.

>and he didn't believe him..
Why would he? If your grandfather told you the president was a lizard in disguise would you believe him?

given that that's a fact, yes

>Try reddit.
Go back to Cred Forums with your boogeyman websites. In my day, you called an user being a faggot a faggot not a redditor.

okay, you're a faggot

Thank you.

I think it's one person posting all the reaction images of her, and a handful of others kind of going with it.

Personally I think it's gotten old, but I don't flip out every time it happens.

She is to Ezra, that's kind of the point of this fetish.

Why doesn't Star Wars have any aliens as sexy as quarians?

>more "fetish" bullshit
And we had a wonderful discussion about canonization of ship sizes.

It caught us all by surprise

i like alien tiddies as much as the next guy but derailment of a good discussion should be a mortal sin

>I want to talk about Halo, let me very loosely connect it to Star Wars
Fuck off

>Halo
nani

It's not Halo but I agree

we've been talking about waifus for the past three hours.

you don't think a super star destroyer is a viable waifu?

Everytime I post the comparison picture there is always someone, at least one person who asks that question

Because there's a severe lack of hips in the galaxy
Except for the ones on Kaminoeans. But, I mean, who would, uh, who would find them atttractive, amIrightImeanreally

It was always Wednesday, but they decided to shift it to Saturday nights.

They're once again being wonky with airing their premiers, but at least it's not the infamous friday night death slot.

if only they came in some delicious colors

To be fair, when they throw around terms like moon and planet, it's easy for people to get the impression that these superweapons are much larger than the actual stats say.

Don't bring scales in here, man
That's dangerous territory.

That raises an interesting point about the lies Sith tell their perspective apprentices to seduce them. I mean, at some point the truth will out.
>Thousands of Senators are under the control of a Sith Lord called Sheev. Join me, and we can destroy the Sith.
>Okay, sounds good.
later, as Obi-wan slips into the Dark Side tutelage of Darth Tyranus
>Oh, remember the entire reason you joined me? To destroy the Sith? Well, turns out, we ARE the Sith...

>Join me, and I can use Darth Plaguies' teachings to save Padme's life.
later
>I will do whatever you ask. Just help me save Padme. I can't live without her.
>...Okay, I don't actually know how to do it. BUT I'm sure we can figure it out. How hard can it be, right? Just trust me!

Of course we all know how Sheev's lie about Anakin killing Padme came back to bite him.

It's making me wonder what Snoke told Kylo.

>Hey kid, wanna get in my van?
>I've got candy!

I think that's going to be one of the questions that they won't be able to resist not telling us about.

Sequel Trilogy Rule #1
If it didn't happen in the originals, it probably won't happen in the sequels

at least that means we won't get bad movies.

We already got one bad movie, so "do only what the OT did" isn't really a winning formula.

Speaking of loosely connecting other franchises to Star Wars, I was at my friends house the other day, and they were marathoning Star Trek: Voyager. In the episode I saw they mentioned an alien species I had forgotten about: The Vidiians, a species ravaged by a disease which devoured their organs and disrupted their genetic code, They would capture other species and steal their organs.

When I heard the word Vidiian, I made the connection to pic related, the bad guy from A New Dawn, Count Vidian, a man ravaged by a degenerative disease so he had to become a cyborg.

But user, the Clone Wars had nothing to do with the OT, so it doesn't fit with it. We still haven't had a bad movie since leaving the prequels behind.

Does that mean we'll get another pointless musical number?

I-is there any chance my waifu lives?

this is why I only waifu characters in dead series. nothing new can happen to them.

Which one?
>Lapti Nek
>Jedi Rocks
>Yub Nub
>Victory Celebration

Oddly enough, all of the above.

Not to trash the songs, but they always felt out of place for some reason. Even the one in TFA seemed tacked on. Though in the case of 'Victory Celebration', it always felt somewhat underwhelming compared to how IV and V ended. ...Or maybe there's something I haven't picked up on that I'm just not getting here.

Even when I was six I never liked the celebration at the end of Jedi, it just didn't make sense to me. A government doesn't collapse just because you killed the guy at the top.

FPJ says it'd because the show is darker

>A government doesn't collapse just because you killed the guy at the top.
Don't worry user, the EU and Disney-Canon have fixed this.
A shame the normies will never understand.

What version were you watching at age six? In the original the celebration is on Endor only, it's a celebration of a huge victory, or the Ewoks wanted an excuse to cook some stormtroopers. This is why the original song was all Ewok-y. Either way, this small scale celebration makes perfect sense. The whole galaxy-wide celebration bullshit (weesa free!) is a special edition thing.

I was remembering wrong, at six I was watching the original vhs tapes. It was when I was ten and first saw the 97 special edition and wondered about not just why they were celebrating, but how they'd found out about it.

>Thrawn peers into hearts and minds in new Star Wars: Rebels clip

CHISSED!

>Hera uses her native accent while posing as a servant

I am so turned on 2bh.

Is it just Thrawn, or is in Mitth'raw'nuruodo?

I wondered about this.
It seems that Thrawn is called in specifically for Ryloth and Cham, not for the Rebellion at large.

We'll probably have to wait for the novel to decide it, since it's a bit awkward to vocalize.

So Thrawn mentioning that "he's a visitor to your world" to Hera, could they be on Ryloth?

Also, dat beautiful Scout Armor

What exactly is that behind them?

I hope and pray it's just Thrawn, I never liked the mithra new do name.

...

The Galatic Empire did, because it had an incredibly centralized structure. Take out the man at the top, your looking at a Roman style civil war before you get another one. And the Galatic empire just fell apart, apart from the small faction that withdrew and formed the first order.

MY

THRAWN ON SCREEN

A new kind of Star Destroyer maybe? Thrawn's personal ship?

That or a Twi'lek colony world

OR

>the rebels taking out the tie-bomber platform pissed off the empire so bad they sent a grand admiral to fuck them up
oH man

yes but the movie implies it happened that night that everyone found out about it and tore down the emperor's statue.

Also, Super Battle droids looks cooler.

I hope we get to see Ryloth again

Yeah that was some Lucas magic, ignore that

>And the Galatic empire just fell apart
I think you're forgetting something

>implying Pablo or someone won't say that it's entierly canon and within minutes of the Emperor's death the entire Empire revolted.

>Lyste
Why is this guy even still around? Unless this is one of his clones and they decided to give them normal hats instead of trying to hide their faces.

I mean, quite frankly we don't know, but I imagine that with the Empire we have seen in canon being built on mutual hatred, distrust, betrayal, suspicion and unbelievable arrogance and ambition, I'm fairly certain they'll keep 'Certain Grand admirals, generals and whatever declared themselves emperor and fought other Imperial forces whilst battling the rebellion, defectors and of course their own systems which were probably in revolt. This drastically reduced the effecting fighting for of the Imperial fleet, leading to the rump fleet being defeated on Jakku, and the signing of the peace accords'.

Most likely, the rump empire and the alliance knew that neither one had the strength to win an outright military victory without it being a Pyrrhic victory. Jakku was merely proving that.

How did the Empire get so badly broken at Jakku? The Rebels were always outnumbered and out gunned. Sure their fighters were better than the empires, but their capital ships always paled in comparison. I mean we see the bulk of the rebel forces come to bear at Endor, and a single fleet is going to kill them. The only reason they ever lived from the battle is that the fleet had to have retreated when the Death Star II exploded.

The Rebellion/New Republic begin to steal ISDs and severely cripple Imperial fleets while they are preoccupied with infighting to determine the new Emperor. The whole deflation of the Empire itself with the loss of Sheev really fucks everything up for them.

Probably the Imperials were on the ropes in other ways. It's not canon anymore, but Thrawns "Yes you fought, like cadets" quote still stands about the Empire post Endor.

I imagine they had a manpower problem on the star destroyers, probably rebel defectors, and a host of other issues like a confused chain of command, uncertainity etc. When you smash a forces high command, things tend to go to shit in fairly short order

It'll probably be self insert characters, and lots of ejection seats

>fullofsith.com/archives/1405
Zahn starts talking about pronunciation at 7:03

I sincerely hope we get other books/media about the Battle of Jakku, like lost stars.

Because I know Wendig is going to make it sound awful.

source?

My only guess is that after Endor a lot of admirals and such defected to the rebels and the Republic. There's no way that they could steal enough Imperial ships given the how overwhelmingly outnumbered they're always portrayed as, to cripple the Navy enough to just completely cripple them like Jakku seemed to have done.

My image of Jakku is a sky killed with Star Destroyers in Republic colors attacking Imperial Star Destroyers.

The interview on that page says it's Ryloth.

No it doesn't. Plenty of people did hear about what happened at Endor and began celebrating, but shortly after it cut away from Coruscant the celebration turned into rioting as Imperials attempted to quell their celebration.

After the Battle of Endor, the Rebellion saw a massive jump in numbers as many people flocked or defected to their side. They were able to steal ISDs and cripple imperial fleets until they had the upper hand. Jakku was the Empire throwing everything it had at the Rebellion in a last ditch effort

>Reading Star Wars books not written by Zahn

>Reading

>Plenty of people did hear about what happened at Endor and began celebrating
How does the movie not imply this is all that happened when it is literally the only thing we see on the subject?

>The interview on that page says it's Ryloth.
Oh, heh
I guess I should have read the article.

Because the first Aftermath book shows us that the celebration devolved into riots

>the movie doesn't imply it because a book says...

you wot now?

>One of the Ghost crew rebels, Sabine Wren (Tiya Sircar) is a graffiti artist, and her paintings become a focus of the Admiral’s during this season.

>“It’s something for him to dissect,” Filoni says. “He’ll bring [fellow Rebel hunter] Kallus into his office and be like, ‘What do you make of this Agent Kallus?’ And almost like a Banksy, he’s removed Sabine’s art work from a wall and brought it into his office. He has the whole wall relief sitting there and he’s like, ‘Look at this, what do you think this means?’”

SABINE CONFIRMED BEATING THRAWN WITH CONFUSING ART

>>the movie doesn't imply it because a book says...
Good job summarizing the sequel trilogy

>implying Sabine has any actual art knowledge
>implying Thrawn wouldn't be able to see through such a half hearted attempt to confuse people.

countingdownto.com/countdown/star-wars-rebelsseason-3-premiere-countdown-clock

The celebration devolving into riots is very different from there being no celebration at all. Hell the premise requires a celebration to have happened in the first place.

Am I the only one who isn't totally thrilled with his voice?

>Mfw im still on season 3 of clone wars

Yes but user thinks that the Empire just completely collapsed simply because there is a celebration

I love it.

It was suggested in that the celebrations were an outright revolution, an idea quashed by the book.

I wasn't at first, but it's growing on me.

I guess I expected something more powerful, like how he's done in the audiobook versions of Heir to the Empire

I didn't like it much in the trailer, but I like what I heard in that clip.

What's wrong with the cross guard lightsaber?

literally no less elegant than any other sword.

If you want to get technical:

All Han said was Luke was training a new generation of jedi knights. He never specified every other jedi was dead.

If anyone was a jedi knight when Kylo Ren killed the apprentices they were probably out in the galaxy doing jedi shit at the time.

Of course, they were likely with the republic and got blown up but still.

I mean, who will be the main character of Filoni's Sequel Trilogy Cartoon if not for survivors of order 66.6 You Can (Not) Redo

DELET THIS

>It has bits poking out the side
so do most swords after the tenth century
>that is NOT elegant
you know nothing of elegance.

>so do most swords after the tenth century

and they aren't elegant

im fairly certain its not SUPPOSE to act as a crossguard because its a exhaust vent, due to its poor construction

Its because Kylo's crystal is cracked.

Not sure in the case of the sabers on Malachor

What about the one Ezra found, that had a clean blade?

swords aren't elegant at all. lightsabers are. Fuck staffs and crossguards

Hard scify is when we demand 2 separate sets of huge radiators on ships, no that was worse than Adam West Batman with dehydrated goons but without intending to be campy. Even the retarded kid knows that stars are huge and put out fucktons of energy. Sure Star Wars is fantasy not scify, but even fantasy has to conform to our base intuitions and that was jarring, didn't even justify itself with rule of cool, like a bad B movie that took itself way too seriously. The only fun part is that during the special olympics of autism known as Star Wars vs Star Trek debates our tards can triumphantly say we kardashev lvl2 now and mic drop.

That episode isn't canon

bitch I will stab you.
The design is an old one, one could say that it was made back before they were fully capable to restricting the weapon's power. It could be simply that Kylo Ren liked the design and made his lightsaber this way, and that a more modern look wouldn't have actually changed anything about the weapon itself.

Not bashing that particular lightsaber. Just the concept of having to surpass that in terms of design.

I mean, where do we go from here?

...

Combining other already canon concepts. I'd love for a lightsaber to look more like an actual saber.
The almost yataghan design of the other saber in that picture is pretty interesting to me. To get something like a backsword look, one can simply combine the hilt design of Ezra's lightsaber, with the blade molding tech of the Dark Saber.

Kylo's specifically act as vents because his kyber crystal is cracked.

In the case of the Malachor ones, we don't have enough info necessarily. It seemed more stable

Ezra really channeling Anakin there.

This, Star Wars fighters are piston powered airplanes because aviation is fun and calculating deltaV is boring. Atmosphere everywhere, air-breathers triumph, rocketfags btfo.

shit taste

I think its aweful. The audio-books of the Thrawn trilogy did a much better job. Oh well.

I've never liked the idea of "his lightsaber is so powerful it needs THREE sabers" The ragged and chaotic look of the blade is enough and makes the most sense for a cracked gem. I suppose I can't get behind the whole "exhaust port" idea because I don't understand why something having a huige flaw some how makes it more powerful.

Rule of cool, everyone knows fixed wing aircraft are the sexiest. I'm a aeronautical engineer and Aphrodite loves aeronautics so much that an informal rule of thumb is that sexier designs usually work out to be better designs (A-10 is the only exception but that's because it's built around a bfg which gives all of a us a huge erection anyway). So if it doesn't make us pop a boner it's back to the drawing board, when it comes to rule of cool no one can compete with us.

THE WAIFU KILLER STRIKES AGAIN

No fucking screentime and already dead

wait, people waifu'd this ugly shit?

It's not supposed to be powerful, it's supposed to be unstable. Kylo Ren is a wannabe Sith Lord and his shitty lightsaber is a testament to that.

I recognize that chair!

The only reason to need the vents because it is "unstable" is if additional energy was outputted than what the housing or focuser or whatever could handle. But we don't see any evidence of this. We don't see the thing flare up with additional power, we don't see it dim or turn off because it can't keep the output going. It's simply less clean.

Never my waifu. Just drawn to her voice, that's all.

What do you guys feel about the Darth Bane trilogy.

I thought Rule of 2 was a decent book while the first was pretty corny.

Best case scenario, she defected and joined the alliance.

Why do some lightsabers lack a guard of any kind, like Mace Windu's, but others have a clear and definite one, like Kanan's?

Because everyone is different, unique to their owner. Don't read more into in than that.

but the guard, especially in the case of lightsabers, provides only bonuses to the wielder. There seems to be no actual reason to not have some kind of a guard on your lightsaber.
Even Darth Vader and Anakin's sabers have a sort of partial guard, and finger placement can turn the ends of Luke and Obi-Wan's lightsabers to have guards far below the emitter.

Take it up with The Professor

user, you're trying to bring hard logic into Star Wars. Eventually it'll fall apart. Sufficed to say, if there is a reason, someone will find it, but that's not the point. The point is that every Jedi constructs their own through the aid of the Force, and if the Force says "No Guard" then that Jedi won't put a guard there.

>That Wayne's World reference

Noooooooo. All my fetish fantasies have been ruined.

If the Force told me to not put a guard on my lightsaber I'd say 'screw the Force' and put one on there. Not doing so only makes the weapon more dangerous to the person using it.

>but others have a clear and definite one, like Kanan's?

In Kanan's case, I think it's because they wanted to give it a katana vibe.

But as to why most others have no guard? No idea. Considering they're straight up metal, and your hands are likely to get super clammy whilst wielding it, I'd say it'd be very prone to slipping out. In universe, I really can't think of a good excuse. Out of universe, it's just too obvious that they were conceived and designed by people who don't understand how swords/swordplay works.

I think this is just one of those things where it's best not to think about it and just let it be what it is.

>Ignoring the Force

That worked out so well for the Jedi, Anakin, and the Republic, didn't it?

>lacks proper faith in the force
It's like you don't get it

>screw the Force
Look at this guy, thinking he can ignore destiny.

>why don't lightsabers need a guard
I was under the impression that they don't need them, because when two lightsabers clash they aren't supposed to slide up or down on the blade.

I've also been under the assumption that Kanan's lightsaber guard is purely an aesthetic choice he made during its creation.

I don't know about most. Most of the major characters have some kind of a guard, or something that can work like it. On Anakin's saber, you have the protrusions near the activation button, on Vader's you have the flat face near the emitter. Dooku's has the spike coming off of it. Ahsoka's ancient white lightsabers have the two knobs coming off the sides that act as guards. Even Palpatine's has a small rise that can anchor the hand.

Yoda and Windu's don't seem to have anything of any kind

>I think this is just one of those things where it's best not to think about it and just let it be what it is.

Pretty much. Hell, all the various grooves and notches on lightsabers actually make them very impractical to hold during intense fighting. They had to have stunt versions that were smoothed down for the actual fighting and used "hero" versions that were nice and detailed mainly only for closeup shots.

nigga what? Yoda's does though.

>green lightsaber flashes

>no green flashes
youtube.com/watch?v=tnkC5EIBAn8

Explain this

The guard does more than block a blade sliding down your blade. It it's earliest forms it helped you control your weapon. The large guard and pommel of a gladius or early spatha's basically lock your hand around the hilt of your weapon, not letting it slide around.

As hilts became longer for longer swords, the guards changed. They became longer (forming the cross we know of now) not just to stop an enemy blade from sliding down your own, but to stop your own hand sliding along the hilt as you changed your grip.

This is even more important for something as dangerous as a lightsaber. At best the small dip in Windu's lightsaber could be considered a guard, but seeing as it immediately dips to the emitter it's not a very good one.

if you mean the collar he grips over that, if you mean the little shield, it's not a very good one since it's stopping point is almost level with the top fo the emitter. I suppose that knob? Or is that the activator button?

Magic

A natural inconsistancy that sometimes happens to things that are a on a deadline

Or, one is a Force Vision, and the other isn't. Or one takes place in a simple dojo while the other takes place near some kind of energy buildup, causing a reaction.

>A natural inconsistancy that sometimes happens to things that are a on a deadline

You should know by now that, no matter what, no person that works on Star Wars will ever say anything like that.

I know, I don't care.

>The guard does more than block a blade sliding down your blade. It it's earliest forms it helped you control your weapon. The large guard and pommel of a gladius or early spatha's basically lock your hand around the hilt of your weapon, not letting it slide around.

Star Wars is fantasy, you can't let your autism about weapon accuracy get in the way.

Lightsabers are a Wizard's Staff or Exalibur. They don't follow normal physics or logic, like everything in Star Wars. Don't worry about it.

Would you?

Actually, if Excalibur was real, it would probably have resembled a spatha, possibly not unlike the style of some germanic tribes. This was actually when the cross guard was first starting to be developed.

So did Prequel Era Lightsaber dueling die with Ahsoka? Is there anyone else in canon still capable of it?

Missing the point.

If you mean traditional forms, stances, techniques, etc, probably not, since Luke has found Holocrons before, and Ezra has one so it could survive and end up in Luke or someone else's hands.

Stream when??

I honestly hope for some prequel style lightsaber combat in 8/9.

TFA's lightsaber fight was boring, poorly choreographed, and it hardly lacked any emotion to it (in comparison to Anakin vs Obi-Wan).

No it's right there.

I agree, but we'll see. There's only so many lightsaber users in the ST, since the Knights of Ren don't, and we have no idea if Snoke does.

Maul's the only one left. Sheev probably is too but he doesn't do it anymore at that point.

they're all edits

Dude the point is that Wizard's Staffs, Lightsabers, and Excalibur aren't real weapons.

You can't apply real world rules to them.

...

...Yes.

>A New Dawn was made by Trek fans

Watch as he also kills Bo Katan this season, Filoni won't stop until his waifu is the only waifu in the galaxy

I told you this would happen when he brought his waifu back.

>So did Prequel Era Lightsaber dueling die with Ahsoka?

No, it died with Vader.

> Is there anyone else in canon still capable of it?

At the point of Rebels? Only Vader, Sidious, Maul and Ezra. Would say Kanan too, if he could see. He'll likely have to adjust his style on account of his blindness.

>since Luke has found Holocrons before

And then lost them not long after.

>I honestly hope for some prequel style lightsaber combat in 8/9.

I kinda disagree with this, yet-

>TFA's lightsaber fight was boring, poorly choreographed, and it hardly lacked any emotion to it

I agree too much with this. Maybe a middle ground somewhere. I like to treat the lightsaber arts like I do with HEMA. Both had fallen out of relevance at some point in history, and now the people who do practice it can only do so based on what little's survived the course of time, and likely don't have the same level of skill as the masters of old do.

I wouldn't be disappointed if Luke did something close to prequel-like Lishtsaber combat. He should certainly be better than Kylo. But I don't think he should be exactly like how they fought back then. Those techniques and forms are gone. And Luke was never one of the best swordsmen, unlike his father.

The Archives would still have them.

>Luke was never the best swordsmen

Is that why he bested Vader after 2 years of training tops?

He didn't best Vader. Vader wasn't really fighting back. On Bespin, he wasn't trying to kill Luke, he was trying to convert him. On the DS2 above Endor, Vader was fighting an inner battle between his loyalty to Palpatine, and the love for his son.

to do that well against vader you have to be extremely talented, stop it.

So, Luke's skill that allowed him to survive Vader throughout the entirety of the fight has nothing to do with Luke's talent as a swordsman? I don't buy it.

He IS talented.

But he's not that talented. What I mentioned is both shown and stated in the films.

That is not at all what I said, and you know it.

To do as well as Luke did, he has some serious talent - with training he could very have well beat Vader, eventually.

But not as things were in the films. Vader is just too skilled, and Luke doesn't have the experience at that point to actually fight a serious battle against someone who's been fighting with a lightsaber for longer than Luke's been alive and expect to come out on top.

>The Archives would still have them.

As far as we know, Luke's never been to Coruscant.

>Is that why he bested Vader after 2 years of training tops?

No, Luke bested him because of his emotional instability. As one user put it some weeks back, Luke won through sentiment, not skill. If Vader's feelings on Luke were clear and was loyal to the Emperor, he'd have beaten Luke with minimal to no effort. Kanan and Ezra are better swordsmen than Luke was at RoTJ and they were nothing to Vader.

And also, Luke never had two years worth of solid training. He was focused more on the efforts of the Rebel Allinace than the Jedi arts. The longest, most undisturbed period of training he got was with Yoda. And depending on Dagobah's time warping BS, that was worth 2 weeks to a month at the most.

>not that talented

He has the potential to surpass charred anakin who was 80% of sheev's power.

that is extremely talented, you fucking imbecile.

No one's debating that Luke isn't as skilled as Vader. I'm saying you're not giving Luke enough credit, considering that even with Vader as conflicted as he was, Luke still had to have the martial prowess to survive against the much more experienced opponent.

>Even Piell sat on the Jedi High Council
>killed by wild animal
>Adi Galia sat on the Jedi High Council
>killed by Savage so fast it looked easy
I hate how they downplay the abilities of Jedi Masters, even if they're literally who Jedi Masters

>to do that well against vader you have to be extremely talented

Unless Vader isn't anywhere near top form, which in the case of RoTJ, he wasn't.

>Luke's skill that allowed him to survive Vader throughout the entirety of the fight has nothing to do with Luke's talent as a swordsman?

Luke didn't survive by skill. In neither of his duels with Vader was Vader trying to kill him. On Bespine he was toying with Luke. On the second DS, he was too conflicted to compose himself correctly. Luke surviving both encounters had absolutely nothing to do with his skill. Or, more accurately, Luke's lack thereof.

savage wrecked anakin and obi-wan at the same time.

>Unless Vader isn't anywhere near top form, which in the case of RoTJ, he wasn't.

you're missing the point.

luke has more potential than charred vader, who was 80% of sheev's power.

also, to even survive against a hesistant vader requires a lot of skill.

Potential. Not actualized. Not even remotely. Luke's still a fledgling. Barely a "knight" in skill. At Bespin he's literally only had three years of part time training. He didn't even get into lightsaber training until a year after Yavin.

And Anakin only had the potential to be 80% of Palpatine's power. Nothing either canonical or in Legends says he ever reached it (especially not for Legends if you count Dark Empire, he didn't even come close to 80% of Palpatine).

I'm giving Luke exactly the credit he deserves - he has skill, but not experience, and he's fighting an opponent who isn't really fighting all that hard (if at all). This is explicit in the films.

>I'm saying you're not giving Luke enough credit

I disagree.

> considering that even with Vader as conflicted as he was, Luke still had to have the martial prowess to survive against the much more experienced opponent.

True, but that martial prowess doesn't measure up to the large majority of people we've seen wielding a Lightsaber. Apart from the younglings we saw in AoTC and RoTS, as well as Rey and Finn, just about everyone we've seen possessing skill with a lightsaber has, so far, been better than Luke as he was during RoTJ.

>This is explicit in the films.
No it isn't. The whole point of the RotJ fight is to show that Luke was powerful enough to beat Vader.

That internal battle inside Vader you keep talking about has no effect until Sidious is actually frying Luke.

>luke has more potential than charred vader, who was 80% of sheev's power.

That means very little, considering that Luke was nowhere near realizing such potential.

> to even survive against a hesistant vader requires a lot of skill.

Obviously not, considering that Luke is a sub-par swordsman in comparison to just about everyone who came before him.

>As far as we know, Luke's never been to Coruscant.
It would be silly to assume Luke never went to the former home of the Jedi to get information and/or learn before establishing his Jedi Order.

>The whole point of the RotJ fight is to show that Luke was powerful enough to beat Vader.

No, it wasn't. It was to show the lure of the Dark Side and how Luke differs from his father. The struggle between light and dark for both father and son.

>That internal battle inside Vader you keep talking about has no effect until Sidious is actually frying Luke.

The internal battle was effecting Vader the moment the Emperor mentioned Luke when Vader received him on the Death Star. The struggle was happening for just about 90% of Vader's screen time.

If The Emperor's objective was to wipe out the Jedi, why would he leave a cache of information about them lying around?

>Obviously not, considering that Luke is a sub-par swordsman in comparison to just about everyone who came before him.

No, not really. His only lost is to Vader in canon. He did better than both Ezra and Kanan against Vader, and he was holding back then too.

You're confusing production standards and values of the movies with skill.

I don't think so. Coruscant was a shitshow for a good while due to riots and such. I wouldn't be surprised if when the Imperial occupation on it ended that they probably erased the archives. That or maybe it was destroyed due to possible looting and general vandalism during the riots. Also wouldn't be surprised if Luke maybe decided to keep distance from it due to some bad Dark Side juu-juus given off from the Sith and maybe the order's folly with the Clone Wars.

Yes, it is. It's literally outright shown in both films that he has skill, but Vader is just overwhelming him while not even trying.

And in RotJ, Luke is pleading to Vader to turn away from Palpatine. He's barely active in the duel, the most aggressive he gets is throwing his lightsaber when Luke is on the catwalk. And when Luke starts hammering at Vader, Vader does not even TRY to fight back.

We know that the Imperial Palace in canon is the former Jedi Temple. Marvel's main Star Wars comic has a storyline in which Luke attempts to get to Coruscant to the Jedi Temple, but gets swept up at Nar Shaddaa before he can try to get to Coruscant.

It's unlikely at best that Luke gets to Coruscant before the Battle of Jakku.

Because the information on the Jedi was simply classified. It wasn't deleted. We know the Grand Inquisitor used the Jedi archives to train and learn all lightsaber forms.

>And when Luke starts hammering at Vader, Vader does not even TRY to fight back.
He does, though.

No, he really doesn't. Once Vader calls out Luke's feeling for his sister and Luke starts raging and attacking Vader, he just sort of falls over and lets Luke hit his saber until it moves sideways and Luke dismembers him.

Enjoying your coffee, Pablo?

The UK Rebels comic was supposed to come out today. I'm keeping an eye on my usual sources. A scan should be up within a day or two. At which point I will storytime it here, and upload a .cbr to MEGA.

>If The Emperor's objective was to wipe out the Jedi, why would he leave a cache of information about them lying around?

The Grand Inquisitor outright sates that the Jedi archives are still in tact.

>You're confusing production standards and values of the movies with skill.

No, I'm using them to rationalize their difference in skill. Even when George was making the prequels, he wanted the Jedi to be better and more sophisticated in combat, in universe, than what we saw in the OT. Luke, compared to others who would name themselves Jedi, is canonically a sub standard swordsman. Practically anyone from before he ever picked up a Lightsaber was vastly more skilled than he was.

>He did better than both Ezra and Kanan against Vader

No, he didn't. Hist first fight he got away because Vader got distracted. his second he lost a hand and nearly fell to his death. Their last he won because of Vader's instability, and then nearly got killed because of Sheev's hate bolts.

The worst Ezra and Kanan got out fighting Vader was a shoulder graze and wrecked lightsaber.

>The Grand Inquisitor outright sates that the Jedi archives are still in tact.

Then the Emperor, like Vader, is really bad at killing Jedi in the new canon.

If Vader wasn't really fighting back, then what was the point of him trying to rile Luke up with the whole "If you will not turn to the Dark Side, then perhaps she will." thing?

You'd think that Vader would react more like "I have a daughter? as opposed to "We'll just turn your sister to the Dark Side instead." if he was REALLY having so much internal conflict about fighting Luke. After he says that though, he just completely gets overwhelmed by Luke's rage.

Not fighting back is not the same as being overwhelmed.

Because he's still putting up a front for Palpatine? He's not fully for Luke or fully against Palpatine until Luke throws down his saber and starts getting zapped by Palpatine.

>Not fighting back is not the same as being overwhelmed.

True, but Vader DID NOT FIGHT BACK when Luke started raging. He didn't even attempt to fight back.

Hi blue dude.

>he thinks it's a good idea to destroy potentially useful information

>Then the Emperor, like Vader, is really bad at killing Jedi in the new canon.

I wouldn't go that far. Literally anything else is probably destroyed. But at the Imperial Palace? The archives are right under Sheev and Vader's thumb. What Jedi Knight with even a shred of intellect would even dare try to get in there?

>If Vader wasn't really fighting back, then what was the point of him trying to rile Luke up with the whole "If you will not turn to the Dark Side, then perhaps she will." thing?

Because his loyalties are still conflicted. He's torn between Luke and Sidious. Of couse he's still going to show signs of being on Sidious' side. Luke's efforts were to try to get him off of that.
