Just watched it here in Canada-land myself. I watch the show regularly AND am a Robbie Reyes fan. Episode was a solid 7 in my book. Nothing overly weak going on (as expected in a season premiere), and Robbie is confirmed older than in the comics (good, because that'd be awkward),

The Flash will probably be on at 9pm when it premieres the new season, and CTV has that new show, This Is Us on at 10pm EST. Probably giving AoS the better slot for ratings reasons/so they don't lose viewers with 2 hours of Big Bang reruns.

Robbie doesn't do the Penance Stare (that we've seen), but he obviously took a good look at Quake when she was telling him to finish it. I'm guessing he didn't see someone that deserved punishment.

I'd say they'll use it in about a third of the episodes.

They'll curse him at some point and he'll only be able to glow red eyes for a while.

Robbie learns how to do the Penance Stare in Ghost Racers, but that might not carry over in the comic proper.

Here, they seem to be blending his character with more traditional Ghost Rider trappings so he might have it in AoS.

8.5/10 episode. Great way to start off a season.

Strange can peer into other dimensions and see other things, like alternate Tony Starks (played by other actors) or other outcomes from Civil War (like the Cap dying and Tony crying, Strange would be like wtf am I seeing)

The absolute perfect hope thing would be Strange seeing the X-Men universe. Marvel is working on Legion so they have to at least have some sort of rights for visual representation of that universe.

You know, since that thing doesn't talk much, and doesn't have an animated face, and fire filters are probably advanced enough to use at will, almost, they will probably keep using him fairly regularly.

Shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks animation per episode, I'd say. It's ALMOST something you could do in real time, but in a week for better rendering and manual adjusts should be doable with ILM tech.

Ghost riders should be a lot simpler to do, because the skull is bigger than the head, and most of all, it's static. All you have to do is follow the face frame-by-frame, the bulk of which can be done automatically.

SquidWard seemed to be full mocap. Ghost Rider head looks to be a little more simpler face mocap.

Flash did it very well with Heatstorm, so fire effects must now be cheap. Cars are also very cheap to animate/introduce. I'm hopeful.

The CGI for his transformation was very impressive. The supernatural-ness has me happy. Hype for this season and doctor strange. Hopefully he (strange) makes a big splash in the movie (i.e. gets canon global coverage) so we can get references in the show.

They already lampshaded it with Yo-Yo. The reason they can't use her in the field is because she signed the Accords and thus has to get approved before deployment, which would take too long to make use of her on the mission since they had to act fast.

Nah, ghost rider rights are only one contract and it has expired (it's all back at marvel).

That said, since the movies didn't do great, marvel does not want to keep that poisoned branch of the brand, and wants to establish its own thing, to keep their trademark separate and uncontaminated.

It's not about contracts (the rights have probably reverted to Marvel by now anyways).
